An Unlikely Turn of Events

(A/N: I want remind all that this is also a supernatural story. Romance is later on in the story.)

Chapter 1: Am I a dog?

Jounouchi and Yugi had decided to hangout together after school ended. Anzu and Honda would have joined if Anzu didn't have work or if Honda didn't have to visit some relatives out of town for the day. Both boys went down to the arcade to play some video games for a while. After Jounouchi and Yugi went to grab a bite to eat at a local pizzeria not too far from where the Game Shop was. Yugi had asked Yami to tag along earlier before he went off to school but Yami declined and decided to stay home and read. Reading was something Yami barely did but this time, the Sennen Puzzle spirit decided to change his course for the day.

After Yugi and Jounouchi finished eating at the pizzeria, they decided to go down to the local comic book shop and check out the latest comic books and manga out there. Yugi was somewhat of an 'Otaku' type of person, he loved reading the latest manga out there and getting caught up in the story. Jounouchi liked manga too but he also enjoy a good comic book with superheroes going up against the villains. Jounouchi loved reading about heroes and happy endings, it gave him hope in a way. Though he was happy to have a sister who loved him to death and great friends who would always have his back, he still had hard times. His father was quite abusive and a drunkard as well.

Jounouchi didn't have to worry about coming home straight after school today though. It was Friday which meant he didn't have to be home on time, his father would be out for the night, probably drinking and won't be back till tomorrow. It was also the weekend which the blond teen had been looking forward to all week long. School wasn't his thing but he attended since it was mandatory and required. Yugi set down the manga he had finished reading and sneaked up on Jounouchi, startling the older teen by playfully shoving him shouting "BOO!" The blond jumped in surprise, dropping his comic onto the ground, turning around only to face his best friend Yugi. The smaller boy was having a laughing fit.

"Ha...ha... So funny, I forgot to laugh..." He sounded a bit annoyed as he bent down to pick up the comic book he dropped, setting back onto the shelf.

"Aw, come on. I was only goofing, Jounouchi." The tri-colored hair boy gave a sad look to his older friend.

The blond teen shook his head and smiled his usual smile. "Nah, it's fine. I'm not mad, Yuug'."

Yugi smiled happily back at his friend. "Ready to go home?" He made his way towards the exit of the comic book shop. "It's getting pretty late. I don't want to make Grandpa worried."

Jounouchi followed his small friend from behind and nodded his head slightly. "Yeah, I'm ready. I am getting a bit tired, I would like to get home and get some good ol' shut-eye."

Two buildings away was the local grocery store, Kaiba had just left the store with two bags of groceries. His limo was parked right outside with the chauffeur waiting for him, standing outside the limo. Both Yugi and Jounouchi were so caught up with their conversation that they didn't see where they were going. This resulted with the blond teen bumping into the person with grocery bags being carried. Unfortunately, Jounouchi was the one who ended up on the ground, a small gasp came from the tri-colored teen.

"W-We're so sorry, Kaiba." Yugi was quick to apologize to the brunet who was ignoring him and glaring dangerously at the blond who was still on the ground.

"Watch where the hell you're walking, mongrel..." The CEO's voice was low filled with anger and hate.

"Go to hell, moneybags!" Retorted the angry blond who rose to his feet quickly, clenching both his fists angrily. "And stop calling me a god damn dog, you bastard!"

The brunet ignored the first statement but smirked as the blond teen barked an order at him. "When you stop acting like one I will... Until then, I think I'll keep calling you that."

With that the CEO continued on his way, brushing past both boys and over to his limo. The chauffeur opened the trunk and carefully set the groceries inside. After he opened the door to let the brunet in. In seconds after the chauffeur got in, the limo sped off. Yugi let out a soft sigh of relief, he was glad that his friend Jounouchi didn't get into a fight with Kaiba this time. In the past, they have been known to fight. It would start off with the blond bumping into the brunet. They would soon exchange insults. Soon after, the younger teen would lash out in an attempt to take the CEO down. In the end, the older teen would win those fights and Jounouchi would be the one laying on the ground in pain.

"I hate that guy!" The blond teen angrily punched the brick building wall which only resulted in bruising his knuckles.

"Just let it go, Jounouchi." The smaller boy said softly, his amethyst eyes showed concern for his friend. "He's not worth getting upset about."

The older teen let out a heavy sigh and rested his back up against the brick building wall. "Say...Yuug', do ya think I'm a dog...?"

This was something that the smaller duelist was a bit shocked and surprised to hear. "Ehh... Jounouchi... Why would I think that about you?" He sighed softly, his amethyst eyes shown confusion and concerned a bit. "I mean...you do share some qualities like dogs... But I don't think that's saying much."

Jounouchi's soft brown eyes hardened and flickered with anger and a hint of hurt. "Figures as much... You do think so... No matter how ya word it..."

Yugi gasped sounding a bit hurt himself. He didn't mean to offend the blond teen, it was a slip. "Jounouchi! Don't take it like that! Dogs do have good qualities, you know!"

The older teen clenched his fists tightly again, hanging his head in the process. "Saying that doesn't help either, Yugi! You and the gang are no better than Kaiba!" With that, he took off at top speed and ran away from his friend.

"Jounouchi!" Yugi called, bolting after him even knowing that he stood no chance of catching the older boy. Jounouchi's legs were too much longer than his; he was in too good shape too, for him to be able to catch up, and he knew it. But that wasn't going to stop him from trying. "Jounouchi, come back!"

Jounouchi ignored his friend calling out to him. His anger had gotten the best of him. He kept running away at top speed, he could hear the younger boy in the distance trying to keep up with him. His body trembled but he kept on running. His feet almost tripped him as he made a sharp turn into an alley as he tried to take a short cut but he managed not to fall and kept running. In that process he sprained his ankle, he ignored the pain as he kept running away.

Yugi tried to keep up to Jounouchi's speed. Though he felt his body giving in because of the all the running, he pushed himself to keep up to not lose sight of his friend. The tri-colored hair boy kept calling out to the blond, hoping to stop him even if it seemed effortless. After all, he was sometimes stubborn and hard-headed.

It wasn't too much longer until Jounouchi stopped and leaned up against the wall, his breath was ragged, his sides ached, and his ankle throbbed from earlier. He was out of breath and beyond exhausted. His body gave in and collapsed onto the dirt path in the alley. His eyes grew heavy and then fell shut, his hand clutched his side as he rested.

Yugi finally caught up with the older teen, he hurriedly made his way over before his knees buckled and gave in. He knelt beside his best friend as his amethyst eyes widened with worry. "J-Jounouchi!"

Fifteen minutes rolled by and Jounouchi found himself resting on Yugi's lap. Yugi had taken a short nap himself from the long run he had, chasing the blond teen almost all over Domino. He carefully lifte himself up off of the others lap only to wince from the sharp pain that came from his still sore sides. He used his arms to scoot away from the smaller duelist since his legs were still heavy.

Yugi woke up from his nap as he felt Jounouchi stir and shift away from him. "Jounouchi, please don't---"

The taller teen cut him off quickly before the smaller duelist could finish his sentence. "Oi... Yugi... Go home. This is no place for a kid..."

He shook his head and got up on his feet, amethyst eyes lit up with determination as he huffed angrily. "If you don't want me to follow you then don't run away, Jounouchi!" His body trembled slightly as he argued back. "Come home with me, I don't want you here alone..."

The blond shook his head and remained sitting on the ground. He inhaled then exhaled, only causing his sides to ache more in pain. "I'm fine here... My house is only a block away..."

Quietly someone in the dark corner of the alley watched as the two boys bickered back and forth. Their eyes remained mostly on the older of the two. Those sinister eyes eyed every inch of the blond's body. It was too perfect of a moment, the older teen could barely move due to exhaustion and the smaller boy couldn't really do nothing since he's weak and small. The figure slowly and carefully left their hiding spot and slowly made their way over to the two boys.

Both Yugi and Jounouchi stopped arguing and turned slowly to look up at the mysterious figure who slowly approached them. Both amethyst and amber eyes went wide when the figure went to scoop up the blond in their arms. The older was rendered useless since his body ached in pain from all that running. His sides still sore and his ankle was swollen from earlier.

"L-Let me go ya creep!" Shouted the older teen who squirmed in the mysterious figures grasp.

Jounouchi was silenced as the person lowered their head to the blond's and gave him forceful yet deep kiss. His head was held securely with one hand as he was forced into the kiss. The blond tried pushing away but his efforts were in vain as he did so. The kissed ended abruptly and the person turned their head to the smaller boy who stood in total shock as the whole scene took place.

"Thank you for luring this prey to me, little one..." Spoke the person as he held Jounouchi tightly and greedily in his arms.

"Let him go!" The smaller duelist clenched his fists angrily as his amethyst eyes lit up angrily.

The figure removed a small damp-looking cloth from his pocket and covered Jounouchi's mouth and nose with the cloth. Soft brown eyes went heavy again and soon closed shut as the chemical took it's effect on the older teen. The cloth was soaked with chloroform which was then discarded somewhere into the alley. Then the figure stepped out of the shadows and he was clearly seen under the street lights.

There the man stood, he wore black clothing and had long dark hair, his built was quite muscular as well. His eyes were a deep crimson red which held no emotion, he also wore white gloves on his hands. His face was stern but a smirk soon appeared as he took another step out into the light.

"Let my friend go now!" Demanded Yugi as he attempted to knock the man over, which at that point was pretty pointless.

The man in the dark clothing sneered at the tri-colored hair boy and grabbed him by the back of his shirt with one hand. "I think not. Go home now, brat!" He then flung the smaller boy against a nearby dumpster.

With that, the mysterious man took off into the dead of night with Jounouchi held tightly in his arms. Yugi watched helplessly as his best friend was carried away by a total stranger. After the man disappeared out of sight with the blond, Yugi tried with all his might to stand up. He needed to go home and go get Yami. He needed his help to get the older boy back. The smaller duelist also thought that maybe he could even ask Kaiba for assistance. Even though the brunet usually declines to help, he ends up helping in the end. The tri-colored hair boy hurriedly runs back to the Game Shop as fast as he could.
