Obedience Is A Virtue
Chapter One: Obedience Is a Virtue
“Are you sure you can play this part?” Said a hushed voice. His tone was full of doubt, but no weakness.
“Oh, my boy. Didn’t I ever tell you that I spent much of my youth studying drama? I was simply born to play the part!” Replied the other man, who chuckled flamboyantly.
“Very well. Call me when you have got the goods.” The voice was then replaced with a dialling tone.

Joey spent most days looking for a job. His friends all thought he was too lazy to get one, but the truth was that he tried very hard. However, no matter where he went, no matter what job he applied for, he was always rejected in the end. Sometimes he got calls from distressed employers rejecting him before he had even come for an interview. Kicking around Domino with no cash was less fun than being home alone in his empty apartment. All the attractions and distractions only served to torture him, he couldn’t even afford the small registry fees for the nearby Duel Monsters tournaments.
Everybody knew about Joey’s explosive relationship with his father. Recently, it had gotten so bad that he decided he would rather live on the streets than ever step back into that house. Ultimately, however, that plan wasn’t as easy to pull off as he had originally thought. It wasn’t so easy to live off of the land when the land was a bustling, heavily populated metropolis. His friend Honda luckily took him in after a few days, though he expressed from the beginning that this was only a temporary offer, and that he had a week to get his act together.
During that week Joey got a string of successful lined up, and was looking forward to being self-sufficient for the first time in his life. He told his friends during one of their regular meet-ups at the Game Shop, who were all happy for him. Except of course, Seto who scoffed.
“As if a mutt like you could hold a job like a respectable human being. You’ll be at Pegasus’ mansion by the end of the month begging for a loan.” Said Seto, his lip curled into a smirk.
Although he was loath to admit it, Seto was right on every count. Shortly after the meet-up, his interviews fell through one by one, and nothing ever seemed to work in his favour after that. When the week was up, Honda was true to his word and insisted he find somewhere else to crash. By the third night on the streets, Joey was so scared and hungry that he had to beg on the street for spare change. It broke what little of pride he had left. And the payoff was barely enough to keep him out of starvation.
Recalling what Seto said, he picked up the courage to walk to the gates of Pegasus’ mansion. It was certainly the largest one in sight, with large iron bars stopping any unsavoury types from coming. In. He wasn’t even sure why he had come here, Seto might just have been kidding about the loan thing - but he had to try. He didn’t know where else to turn. Pressing the green button on the receiver, Joey waited for what seemed like at least 5 minutes before anyone replied.
“What is it?” Said a gruff voice from the other end. Joey quaked with nervousness.
“Uh, my name is Joey Wheeler…I came to see Pegasus…I…don’t have an appointment.” Joey admitted. To his surprise he received no answer, but the gates to the grounds unlocked. Tentatively he pushed the bars open and walked up the long bath to the large entrance. He knocked twice, on his third attempt the door swung open and Joey found himself accidentally punching butler on the nose.
“Oh, my God! I’m so sorry!” Joey didn’t know what to do with his hands, trying all sorts of different positions before finally settling on keeping them behind his back, lest the butler develop a phobia of them.
“No matter.” Said the short butler, who brushed his greying hair with a hand and regained his composure. The butler indicated that Joey should stand in the foyer while he went to fetch “the master”. Looking around at the plush décor, Joey was growing more anxious as time wore on. Eventually Joey heard a family voice calling out from behind a door that was being opened.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t my favourite blonde haired sidekick. I’m thrilled that you came to see me for a casual chat, Tony.” Said Pegasus. He was holding a glass of wine in his left hand, his silver hair covered the area where he was missing an eye.
“My name is Joey.”
“Oh, yes, yes. Of course it is.” Said Pegasus, waving his free hand dismissively. “So, Joey-boy. What brings you to my humble abode?” Sitting down on one of the red velvet waiting room chairs, Pegasus patted the neighbouring one. Joey sat down nervously.
“I…I need money, Pegasus. I wouldn’t ever ask this under normal circumstances, but I really need the money. Please, can you help me?” Joey looked into Pegasus’ eye, looking for a sign. He didn’t say anything, and instead sipped on his wine, apparently deep in thought.
“I think I can, Joey-boy. I consider what I do a public service. People come to me with all sorts of financial problems, and I help fix it for them.” Pegasus chuckled into his wine glass, making the hairs on the back of Joey’s neck stand on end.
“So…you will lend me money?” Joey let out a sigh of relief, finally something good had happened in this hellish month.
“Why, of course Joey-boy. First, of all this most certainly is a loan,” Said Pegasus as he brought out a checkbook and gold pen from his pockets. “I expect full payment within one month.” Pegasus scribbled something on the check and passed it to Joey. Joey’s eyes widened. It was a check for 600,000 Yen.
“Th-thank you so much! I will pay you back, Pegasus. Thank you, thank you!” Joey bowed repeatedly as he stood up. Pegasus smiled.
“Remember, Joey. One month. Or else.”
*****
And that was what happened. The month was now up, Joey still had no job, and he had been living on ramen the last few days. He dreaded what he was going to tell Pegasus when he demanded payment. Walking into his apartment building, Joey checked his slot for mail, hoping that an employer had given him a reply. No such luck. As he got in the elevator, he pressed the button for his floor. He counted the precious change he had left, and tried to work out how he would ration it. When the elevator came to a stop, he got out and wandered to his door, getting the keys out of his pocket.
But as he lifted his keys to put them in the keyhole, he noted his door was slightly ajar. Pushing it open he glanced in suspiciously, but could see nothing out of place. Figuring he had just left it open when he left this morning he walked into his one-room apartment. However, it was too late when he noticed a shadow out of the corner of his eye. He was grabbed roughly from behind and a rag with what smelled like cleaning solution covered his nose and mouth. Breathing deeply from the struggle, he began to feel faint, unable to resist his attacker. As he fell to the ground, the last thing he remembered was a bag being put over his head.

Groaning softly, Joey started to regain consciousness. He panicked when he realised he couldn’t move his arms or legs, as if they were strapped down, and he seemed to have something covering his face. It took him a while to remember what had happened when he got home, and started crying out for help.
“Please! Is anyone there! Help me, Please! I’m scared!” Tears started to form in the corners of his eyes.
“Oh, hush, little one. No one is going to hurt you here, pet.” Said a familiar voice.
“Pegasus? Is that you? Please, I was going to pay you back, I just didn’t have the money. No one will give me a job, I swear I have been trying.” Joey pleaded, fearing for his life, he had seen what happened to people who owed loan sharks money in the movies.
“Didn’t I just say I wasn’t going to cause you any pain? No, not me.” Said Pegasus, placing a cool hand on Joey’s thigh. It was at that moment Joey realised he was naked, making him thrash against the restraints all the harder.
As Joey was struggling, he heard a loud buzz coming from nearby, and stopped to listen to what was happening. The next thing he heard was the sliding of doors, and the sound of footsteps.
“Amazing. He looks better than I thought he would.” Said a voice, the footsteps coming closer. Joey knew he had heard this voice as well, but in his addled state he couldn’t bring it to memory. Another hand touched his abdomen, this one was warm.
“Get off me!” Yelled Joey, trying to sound confident and in control when he was far from it. The man chuckled.
“Didn’t you gag him, Max? It doesn’t matter, he’s just so adorable. Poor little puppy.” Joey knew instantly who the voice was.
“K-kaiba?” He asked tentatively, not wanting to believe it.
“That’s right, puppy. Though it will be Master to you from now on.” Said, Seto in a condescending tone. Almost like Joey was a child.
“Please, Seto. Let me go, I’ll pay Pegasus back. I just had a really unlucky couple of months!” pleaded Joey, though Seto scoffed.
“I think you will find luck, had very little do with it. Now you have to be quiet now, Master and Mr. Pegasus are going to be taking care of some arrangements for a while. We will just put this little gag in your mouth until we are done.” Said Seto, as he finished speaking, the hood Joey was wearing was lifted up just past his nose, still blocking out any light.
Joey felt something pressing against his lips, though he held them tightly shut. Seto held Joey’s nose until he had to gasp for air, when the opportunity came, Seto slid the long phallic gag into Joey’s mouth until it touched the back of his throat, then he fastened it with a leather strap to the back of Joey’s head, pulling the hood back down.
“Now, as we previously discussed. I want him in a chemical bath, removing any hair below the neck permanently. Second, the tendons on his heels should be augmented, I think my little Joey would look adorable on all fours like a real puppy.” Joey could hardly believe what he was hearing, it was like something out of a nightmare. He thrashed against the bonds holding him, trying to scream objections and profanities through the gag, but only succeeded in making a choking sound.
“But, of course, Kaiba-boy. Do you have such little faith in me? I played my part rather splendidly I felt.” Chuckled Pegasus, Seto only grunted in reply.
“Lastly…about the tail…” it was at that moment Joey started to lose consciousness again. The mixture of stress and small amounts of air caused him to pass out, where he sank into his own unconscious.
