Title: A year with you

Summary: Jou makes a deal with Kaiba. Now he has to date the other boy for a year.

Jou looked up at the gates protecting the huge house before him. He sighed taking the last few steps to reach the guard house. He waved to the guard who glared at him and looked around. “Name?” He blinked at the man who was holding a clipboard. “Uh Jounouchi Katsuya.” He whispered his voice squeaking slightly as he felt the sudden surge of nervousness hit him. The man nodded and hit a button opening a small door on the gates. “Go on in. Kaiba-sama is in his office. First floor, take the right hall and go all the way back to the double doors.” He nodded and stepped through the small gate door and walked up the long drive thinking of what he was going to say. Asking for money was hard for any person. Asking for millions of dollars from Seto Kaiba was nearly impossible. He opened the main door to the house silently slipping off his shoes and setting them to the side. He looked around at the clean neat and impossibly huge house. He walked slowly to the right hall and turned. The dark wood doors loomed at the end of the hall. He walked swiftly holding his breath. He paused and knocked listening carefully holding perfectly still. The door swung open causing him to jump and scream slightly. “What do you want mutt?” A cool calm voice cut in smoothly from the form of Seto Kaiba standing at the door.

Jou held his chest letting his heart slow down as Kaiba stared at him with those cool blue eyes. “I have ta ask a favor of ya.” He rasped fear closing his throat. The brunet opened the door a little wider and he took a few small steps coming into the doorway. “Come into my office and we’ll talk.” He nodded shuffling into the office and taking a seat across from the huge fine wood desk. Kaiba walked over slowly and sat steapling his fingers looking at him. “So tell me Jounouchi, what brings you to my humble home.” He stared down at his hands collecting his thoughts. He looked up meeting those deep blue eyes. “I need to borrow some money.” He said quietly. The brunet nodded turning and looking out the window. “May I ask how much?” He took a deep shuddering breath. “12 million dollars.” The brunet turned quickly looking at him with surprise etching his features. “It’s for my dad. He owes some bad people a lot of money. I just want to pay it back before they kill him and take it out of my flesh.” He said seriously. The brunet nodded slowly then turned looking back out the window. “You’ll owe me.” He nodded again and sighed softly. “You aren’t a bad person. You’ve helped us before and I know you’d never hurt me.” His accent slipped away as he started to feel calm. “So you see me as the lesser of two evils.” He shook his head feeling tears fill his eyes. “That is not what I meant.” He trailed off not sure what else to say.

Seto sat for a long while just staring out his window at the sakura tree in full bloom. He respected Jou’s wish to save his father he just wasn’t sure what to ask from the blond. He glanced briefly at his pup who was tugging at the end of his shirt while trying to avoid looking at him. He’d been fascinated by the blond ever since they first met. He was lonely. His little brother was growing up and he’d never had a serious relationship. Over the years he had come to love Jou. They had a year of high school left and summer was swiftly coming to an end. “Alright. Jou, I will lend you the money.” He turned looking to the blond that was giving him a sparkling smile. “Really?” He nodded leaning forward. “There is however a condition for you receiving this money.” The blond nodded seriously and he sat back. “I want you to date me. One month for every million I’m giving you. I won’t ask for much just a kiss on the cheek and some cuddling on the couch, and maybe some holding hands. I will no longer call you mutt but I request you allow me to call you puppy. If you are uncomfortable with any of those terms I am willing to rethink the deal or negotiate.” He looked to the blond who had gone very still.

Jou was expecting something odd from Kaiba. Kaiba was kind of an odd guy but this took the cake. He took a slow deep breath thinking things over. The brunet wasn’t asking for much and Kaiba was hot enough he didn’t mind pretending for a while. “I have two conditions. One is ya let me live here for da year. Two is if I find someone I think I might have a real shot at a real relationship with you’ll let me go.” He waited holding his breath while Kaiba gently drummed his fingers on the desk thinking. “For the last condition I will give you a month to see how the relationship is going if in that month you are still together I will consider your debt repaid. Is that an ok agreement?” He thought it over and nodded slowly. “About the puppy thing it is fine if you call me dat.” The brunet gave him a small nod and stood gracefully. “I will call the bank in the morning and you will have your money by noon. I will also call some movers and I expect you here by two so I con show you where you will be staying, set some basic rules, and get you settled before dinner. Sound good?” He nodded silently and smiled brightly. “Thanks Kaiba.” The brunet nodded and he quickly fled the house.
