I do not own YuGiOh!, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Family Business
Seto Kaiba is lonely. His brother has gone off to college and he wants someone to play with. Jou’s dad is on another binge and has come up with a solution to his problems.
Chapter One: Family Business
Jonouchi Katsuya crawled into his bed, exhausted from the last six hours at his dead end job.
He had worked at the drive-in restaurant for four years and was still no farther up the chain than a fry cook.
Out of all the gang, Jou was the only one who hadn’t gone farther with his education, going straight from graduation to working full time at two jobs to pay for expenses and then his dad’s rehab and fines.
Jonouchi Sr. had been sober for six months now and had held down a job for two. Jou had quit his night job at the convenience store two weeks before and had taken on more hours at this one.
Yugi had gone to Tokyo University to study Ancient History and was now working with Isis at the museum.
Ryou had returned to England for his continued education and was now an intern.
Bakura, Marik and Malik had all gone to the local college and gotten degrees in various fields. Even Shizuka and Mokuba were now attending colleges and would soon be on their way to success.
Anzu had gone to New York and was now touring with a dance troupe in Europe.
Of course, Kaiba had remained in Domino, running his company and making money. He was still on top and on the cover of every local magazine each month, for either a new game or another snoop into his personal life.
To Jou’s chagrin, Kaiba was Domino’s most eligible bachelor and every girl or guy he met talked about it.
Somewhere in the apartment a door slammed and Jou roused enough to know that his dad was home.
“Hey, Katsuya!” his dad called “Are ya home, boy?”
“I’m here, Dad.” Jou answered rolling over and lifting onto his elbows.
“Oh, there ya are. Hey, I brung home dinner. Come out and eat with me. Tonight is special.” The elder Jonouchi said.
Jou groaned as he climbed to his feet and pulled a t-shirt over his chest.
In the kitchen, Jou’s dad was pulling containers out of a large bag and setting them on the table.
“Looks good, Dad. Did ya get a raise or sumpin?” Jou asked peeking into a box of General Tsao Chicken.
“Something like that. Starting tomorrow Son, you won’t need that lousy job and our depts will be a t'ing of the past. Eat up, I gotta get some cups.” His dad said, grabbing a couple of cokes and heading for the cabinets.
Jou had piled his bowl with rice and was picking out some vegetables from the stir-fry when his dad placed a tall iced cup in front of him.
“Drink up, Son.” he said, tipping his own cup and smiling. “You know that I appreciate all you’ve done for me, don’t ya?” he said.
Jou drank a long gulp before looking up at his suddenly serious father “Sure Dad. That’s why I could do it. Cause you’re the best.”
“Not the best, Son. But I do love ya.” the older man said. Jou thought the words sounded funny and he opened his mouth to respond but nothing came out.
The room went dark and silent.
I don’t know if this idea is real good, but it is a little easter plot bunny and I got four or five chapters written before I knew it.
If it sounds promising, review and tell me, so I can post another chapter. Otherwise, I’ll probably just delete it.
I can just write it for my own enjoyment, but I love to share, when people appreciate things like this.
Please note the warnings, it is a little deeper than this chapter portrays it.
I am trying to tie up the loose ends on my Kink story and get another chapter up this week.
Sorry for taking soooo long to do that one.
