Katsuya’s eyes shut tight and he moaned aloud when Kaiba thrust into him again, hitting that spot inside that made his body clench and spasm.

The blond tightened his arms around Kaiba’s back and locked his legs around his waist, urging him on while he buried his face in Kaiba’s neck.

Kaiba panted and shuddered with each thrust. “Oh God,” He rasped, kissing Jou hungrily.

Then his cell phone went off.

Kaiba stopped and looked over at the small dresser next to the bed where the small cell sat, he’d forgotten to turn it off, and now he was contemplating whether or not he should answer it.

Katsuya noticed when he stopped and looked up at him with disbelief. “Don’t answer it, let it ring.” He begged.

Kaiba bit his bottom lip and stared at the phone before picking it up to see who was calling.

“It’s the office, puppy. I have to answer it.” He said regretfully.

Jou opened his mouth to say something but Kaiba had already hit the answer button and put the phone to his ear.

Jou felt like crying, that was how frustrated he was. He was so close! And judging by Kaiba’s softening member still in him, they weren’t about to finish what they started.

He wasn’t surprised when Kaiba hung up the phone and pulled out of him.

“Something went wrong and they need me down there. I have to go.”

Jou wanted to move to stop him, but he lay completely still instead, staring up at the ceiling as he listened to Kaiba putting his clothes back on, pull his briefcase off the desk, grab the cell and leave the room. The door clicking shut behind him.

Jou stared up at the ceiling for only one second more before he sneered at it and slammed his fist down on the mattress. He jumped out of bed, grabbed his jeans and T-shirt before running out the door.

The garage to Kaiba manor was on the right side of the building, so that when Kaiba called for his limo, the driver came from the right and had to park on the other side of the road to wait for his employer, and Kaiba needed to cross the street to get to him. Something which bothered the CEO in the mornings when the traffic was slightly busier and he was forced to wait for the cars to move so he could leave.

One of his latest inventions had exploded in the middle of a test run because his incompetent employees didn’t know what they were doing. So he had to rush on down there before anyone else got hurt and hurry back home before Jou threw a fit on him.

He was barely down the steps leading from the door when a strong hand grabbed his arm and yanked him around, and Kaiba faced a snarling Katsuya.

He sighed. He was hoping to avoid this until later when he had the time to explain.

“Kaiba! What the fuck! You can’t just do that to me! I don’t care what’s going on with that company, that was the most fucked up thing you’ve ever done!”

Kaiba yanked his arm away and sneered back. He was in a hurry and needed to leave. He would explain to the blond when he returned home. Perhaps after a few hours Jou would have calmed down by then. “Unlike you, Katsuya, I need to run that company to pay for the roof currently above your head!” He hissed.

“Don’t you dare throw that in my face!” Jou hissed back. “I have a job y’know! I *would* pay for some of the things around here if you would just let me!”

Kaiba snorted. “Please. Two months worth of your paychecks wouldn’t be enough to pay for the heating on this house alone!”

When the words left his mouth, Kaiba mentally blinked. When had they gone from arguing about sex to arguing about money?

Kaiba then turned to his limo. The driver was waiting. He needed to leave! Why couldn’t Jou understand that? Why couldn’t he, for once, make it easy on the both of them?

“Oh, that’s right! I forgot!” Jou shouted. “I’m just a worthless dog! You’re the one doing me the favour by letting me lick the dirt from your boots, much less sleep in the same bed! *I* don’t do *anything*! I just lounge around here all day and spend all your money! I’m just a gold digger! Go ahead and say it already! I know everyone else is!”

Kaiba seethed with rage, one of his hands clenched into a fist. How dare Katsuya accuse him of believing such things! He never once accused him of using him for his wealth! Not once! And the idea that the blonde could bring it up so easily made him wonder if that was what he was really doing.

Schooling his features to be calm, Kaiba shrugged his shoulders and turned away. “Maybe you are.” Was all he said.

Had he been looking, he would have seen Katsuya’s face fall. “...Bastard... You bastard!” He screamed at his retreating back. “I hate you, Kaiba! And I’m leaving! I’m leaving and I’m not coming back!” He yelled, stamping his foot.

Kaiba stopped and turned. “Fine then! Leave! I don’t care! You can drop dead too, you dick! It wouldn’t matter in the least!” He screamed back. Not for a minute did he think that Jou would actually leave him. When he got back from the lab at Kaiba Corp, Jou would be there, waiting for him with open arms and an apology. Just like the last time.

“Kaiba!”

The scream didn’t come soon enough for the CEO to turn around again, and then he felt himself being shoved forward into the ground, the wind knocked out of him. He would have thought Jou had just sucker punched him, but the sound of screeching tires and glass shattering made Kaiba’s heart stop.

The brunet got to his knees and turned to see the wreckage, all colour leaving his face when he saw the red truck. No longer moving, the driver jumping out of the vehicle, unharmed.

Kaiba scanned the road for Jou, and found him laying face down fifteen feet behind the truck.

“Oh my God,” Said the limo driver, having gotten out of the limo to see what had happened.

Kaiba immediately turned to face him. “Call an ambulance!” He screamed, climbing onto shaking feet and running to his lover before falling to his knees again.

Should he turn him over? Was he supposed to move him? Kaiba was sure that he wasn’t supposed to, but he needed to see Katsuya’s face. He needed to see that he was alright.

Gently, Kaiba cradled Jou’s neck and body before turning him, gasping at the bloody sight he was shown.

Red, and sticky fluids covered Jou’s face and golden hair. His left cheek scratched and bleeding profusely, his nose broken. Like his face, his left arm had been scratched and sliced because of the truck, broken glass and sliding along the pavement. Kaiba could swear he saw bone through the flesh. And he gagged.

He tried not to cry, but the tears came anyway as he tried to wipe the blood out of his hair and off Jou’s good cheek. He wanted to see Jou’s golden hair and healthy skin, but it just wasn’t appearing.

The man who drove the truck fisted his hands in his hair, staring down as the young man cried over the other guy he’d hit. Terrified of the consequences. When the sounds of sirens rushed his ears, he looked up and paled before bolting for his now deeply dented truck. Slamming the door and driving away as fast as he could. Leaving tire tracks in his wake.

Kaiba could hear his limo driver yelling after the man to stop, but he wasn’t listening to much else. All he could think of was Jou in his arms, and how he couldn’t make his golden hair appear.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooo

When they arrived at the hospital, Kaiba was treated for a minor scratch he’d received on his chin when Jou pushed him, and then the doctors allowed him a five minute visit before the blonde went into surgery.

Katsuya’s face and arms looked bad, but three of his ribs were cracked and a lung was punctured. Everyone feared for the worse.

Kaiba could only sit next to the bed, clutching Jou’s hand to his face while he rocked back and forth on the chair, tears streaking his cheeks and running down Jou’s hand while sobs wracked his body. Jou’s harsh breathing was the only company he had in the lonely room.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it... Wake up, puppy, wake up. I didn’t mean it, I’m so sorry.” Another sob made Kaiba jerk and spill more tears. “I-I didn’t mean it!”

The doctors then came in and rushed Jou into surgery, and Kaiba was left to explain to the blond’s friends what had happened when they finally arrived.

He was hit by a speeding truck, and the doctors didn’t know if he would make it.

Mokuba immediately went to hold him before he could collapse to the floor with sobs, and for that, he was grateful.

Kaiba cell phone rang again, and he picked the device out of his pocket before checking to see who it was.

The office, wondering where he was. Kaiba answered the phone and snarled. “Fix it your damn self!” Before turning off the cell and pocketing it out of habit.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Kaiba wasn’t sure how long they all waited in the lobby for. Uncomfortable chairs that stiffened his spine did little to help either. But he was the last to fall asleep, the first to wake, and the first to stand when the doctor entered the lobby. His face looking grim.

“How is he? How is Katsuya?” Kaiba demanded.

Doctors were never known for their sympathies or to sugar coat the truth, they had jobs to do, there was no time to be sorry for anyone, so the man just spit it out.

“We managed to stop the bleeding and correct his ribs, but when we went to work on his lung, his breathing needed to be halted for a time for us to operate on it, but when we tried to start it back up again, the lung failed, taking the other one with it due to stress. I’m sorry.” He said, not sounding too sorry at all, and just like that, he walked away.

Yugi, Shizuka, and Honda were the first to break down, holding each other and crying while Kaiba could only stand there, staring after the doctor until he turned a corner and walked out of sight.

Kaiba fell into his seat, his mouth parted, shocked, not knowing what to say or do.

Just like that? Jou was gone... just like that? But they were together only hours earlier, how could it have happened so fast?

“Big brother? Are you okay?” Asked a teary eyed Mokuba, but Kaiba didn’t answer, he continued to stare into nothingness before finally succumbing and screaming out his rage.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Kaiba was in another hospital room minutes later, in bed and bleary eyed. Mokuba and Yugi were at his bed side.

“What happened?” He asked, sounding sleepy.

Yugi’s eyes were red from crying. “You tried attacking that doctor who told us about Jou, and they had to give you a little something to calm you down.”

Kaiba sighed, closing his eyes against his tears, and when his chin trembled he put his hand over his face to hide his weakness. “How long was I out for?” He asked, sobbing.

Mokuba checked his watch. “Nearly forty-five minutes now, Seto.” He said before taking his brother’s free hand into his own for support.

Kaiba just couldn’t believe it. Katsuya, his beloved puppy dog was gone from him. The blond told him he was leaving and he told him to drop dead. Both happened, all because he couldn’t stay in bed and make love to his lover.

It was all his fault. If only he’d ignored the call. If he’d just stayed. If only he hadn’t provoked Jou into the fight. If only he hadn’t teased Fate and told one of two people he loved more then anything to die... Jou would be alive.

Jou had died once before. Kaiba had heard of it. That duel that took his life during the tournament. But by some chance miracle, he came back.

“His will to live was too strong.” Yugi had told him.

What about now? Wasn’t his will to live... to stay with him just as strong? Or did Jou want to die, to hurt Kaiba to best way he knew how? Did he let himself go? Because of what Kaiba himself had said? Were they really fighting that much that Jou simply no longer cared?

The heavy sounds of running and loud talking interrupted Kaiba’s thoughts, and he looked out into the window that led into the hallway to see that the spare doctors and nurses were all running around like mad.

“What are they doing?” Kaiba asked, the words: *Amazing, Unbelievable, and Miracle*, catching his attention.

“I don’t know Kaiba,” Said Yugi. “They’ve been running around like that for ten minutes now.”

Kaiba’s body seemed to deflate as he leaned into his pillows. Whatever the doctors were doing, it didn’t matter. His puppy was gone, and he needed to deal with that before his grief took his sanity again.

oooooooooooooooooooooooo

Twenty minutes later, another doctor carrying a clipboard walked into Kaiba’s room. The apathetic CEO did not acknowledge him in any way until his name was called.

“Mr. Kaiba?”

Kaiba turned his head to look at him, but said nothing. Mokuba and Yugi were still in the room, but they stayed silent.

“I’m here about a Katsuya Jonouchi.” He said, and Kaiba immediately snarled at him.

“Yes, he died here in this joke of a hospital, and you can expect a call from my lawyer about how your staff conducts its–”

“He’s alive, Mr. Kaiba.” The doctor interrupted, and all faces in the room dropped.

Yugi jumped out of his seat. “He’s alive?!” He yelled, his face no longer one of pain but of tearful joy. Mokuba was rendered speechless, but no less happy as he stared at the doctor with an open mouth.

Kaiba remained unimpressed, and he crossed his arms, looking defensive. “Your paperwork is wrong. Katsuya died today, he was hit by a truck and the driver ran off. I do not appreciate being told stories like this.” He growled.

The doctor adjusted his glasses nervously. “That is true, Mr. Kaiba. Katsuya Jonouchi did pass away here a little over an hour ago, but when we sent his body to the coroner, his breathing and heart started up again twenty-two minutes after it stopped. All on its own.”

This time Kaiba did dare to look a little hopeful. “Are... are you serious?” He asked.

The doctor nodded. “Yes, he’s in a room two floors above this one right now,” He said, checking his clipboard. “His condition is critical but currently stable. Everyone on staff is remaining carefully hopeful. He really is a lucky young man. I’ve heard of things like this happening before, but they’re extremely rare and I’ve never seen it before now.” He explained.

Yugi and Mokuba were now silently crying, hands covering their mouths as they fought to remain in control of themselves

Kaiba had tears streaking down his cheeks again. “Can I see him?” He asked.

“Because you were the first listed under names to call in case of emergencies, then yes, you can have a brief visit, but you won’t be allowed to touch him at the moment.”

Kaiba nodded. “Yes, anything.”

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

THREE WEEKS LATER

Jou ran his finger gently down the thick pale line on his chest, causing Kaiba to shiver. “I really wish you wouldn’t do that.” He said.

Jou smiled up at him from his hospital bed. Only minutes earlier did his surgical staples come out, and he was having fun with his new scar.

“Does it really bother you that much?” He asked.

“Yes. It does.” Kaiba snapped back, to which Jou chuckled before closing his eyes, getting comfortable. He hadn’t left the hospital since the accident, and had only woken up five days previously, but he was promised that he only had to stay one more night for observation until he could go home.

“It’s your fault I have it you know,” The blond said. “You really need to look both ways before crossing the street. Didn’t anyone teach you that?”

Kaiba shifted guiltily. “Looking both ways had nothing to do with it.”

Jou looked up at him. “Stop blaming yourself. It wasn’t your fault.”

“But I was partially responsible. I shouldn’t have tried to leave.”

Jou growled up at him. “No you shouldn’t have. But that has nothing to do with some asshole speeding down the street. So seriously, stop.” Jou said, reaching his hand out to motion for Kaiba to come closer, and when the brunet did, he kissed him.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

THREE WEEKS LATER

Jou moaned as he ground himself down on Kaiba from where he sat on his lap, back in Kaiba’s gigantic comfy bed.

Kaiba bit his bottom lip to hold back his cries of pleasure as he clutched the sweaty blond on top of him.

Jou leaned his face down to kiss him, halting their movements for only a second before continuing on. Both making small, whimper like moans as they did. Wanting to prolong the inevitable for as long as possible.

Then Kaiba’s cell phone rang.

Both immediately stopped, eyes wide in shock as Kaiba looked over at the cell phone. He’d forgotten to turn it off again.

Kaiba reached a hand out to grab the little thing from off his bedside dresser.

Jou looked puzzled and hurt. “Kaiba, what are–”

Then Kaiba threw it at the wall where it smashed into three separate pieces, and the ringing promptly stopped.

Jou immediately let out a loud heartfelt laugh as he watched Kaiba glare at the now dead phone. He cupped the CEO’s chin and turned his face, kissing him appreciatively and wrapping his arms around his neck.

Kaiba had learned his lesson.

The End

A.N: I'm not too sure which actually is Joey's first name in Japanese, so please, if anyone thinks they know, don't review me telling me, I get tons of those from so many people who think that "Katsuya" is the first name and that "Jonouchi" is the first name, I no longer trust people when it comes down to that. I like the sound of Katsuya, so that's what I usually use as the first name.

Review please!
