Always

Notes: This story takes place at the end of the Duelist King Tournament, after the finals. Slightly AE. Further explained as you read. This is a joint story written by me and a friend after a very interesting Duel. As to the names, I refer to them as their American names to save some from confusion. ^_^ All except for Pegasus J. Crawford, but only because I hate the name Maximillion! *Wonders briefly if Pegasus has any relation to the infamous Brad Crawford and what WB has against him* \_/

Warning: Sn-ain-ai for now, but will contain yaoi later. Pairings to be introduced.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh or Industrial Illusions. *Sigh* But I have the Millennium Eye! Muwahaha! (Not really ;_; )

Title: Toon Change of Heart

Chapter 1: Always.

It was four in the morning, and only one person remained awake through out the entire manor. The president of Industrial Illusions sat outside on his balcony railing, the wind weaving through his long silver hair. He wore his silk red robe and that was it. Try as he might, he couldn't sleep. His one golden eye caught the glint of the moon, making it shine. With a sigh, he stood and placed his hands before him, leaning on the stone rail. He closed his one dark amber colored eye and took a deep breath. He had though that, winning the Duels, he would have no problems. He now knew this was far from true.

Why? That was the question. Why did he decide to keep one of them in their original bodies? He even let him keep his soul"¦ Who would have thought, that the quietest one, the most innocent one, would cause him the most trouble?

Those deep and compassionate chocolate brown eyes, that snow white hair that framed his boyish face, his little yet perfect frame, so delicately feminine---all that was Ryou Bakura. All though in the past few weeks he had come to separate those two names. There was Ryou, the nice and gentle friend of Yugi-Boy, and then there was the demon. Bakura. Ryou's Yami. Bakura had tried more than once to straight out rip his Millennium Eye right from his head! It didn't matter really, that Ryou still wore the Ring, because he belonged to Pegasus J. Crawford.

Pegasus opened his eye and turned, walking back into his room and closing the glass door behind him with a soft click. His amber eye fell on his bed and beheld the cause of his insomniac nights. Ryou was asleep, curled up in a little ball as he always did. A thing that the President of Industrial Illusions had come to find endearing, when at first he had found it offensive. Ryou wore a long white nightshirt, which had rolled dangerously high on his thighs. He had kicked off the covers again, and with the door open at that! Pegasus clicked his tongue and moved forward. He took the edge of the covers gently and slid them back up to cover the pale body of his Ryou, brushing the boy's bare legs as he did so.

Ryou made a soft noise at the touch. Pegasus smiled. The white haired teen shifted to lie on his back, one arm resting above his head. The golden Ring slid from the boy's chest and rested to his side with a small clink. He was an Angel. He was a Demon. He so resembled his favorite card that Pegasus had thought about keeping his soul inside of it, and putting the card on a necklace, much like Seto Kaiba and his brother Mokuba Kaiba did. A small meow distracted the silver haired man from his thoughts. He glanced down to his feet where a little yellow tabby kitten was chewing on his robe belt. He smiled.

"Hello Yugi-Boy." He picked the kitten up, who gave a startled meow and a small hiss, and set him down on the sleeping Ryou. The kitten, Yugi-Boy, shook his head, jingling a small golden pendant, before settling down and curling up at teen's side. Ryou smiled turning and cradling the kitten to his chest.

//Yes little Ryou... protect your friends, just as you did just over two months ago. It feels like a year already. I've gotten nowhere it seems things didn't go exactly as I had planned.//

But when did they ever? Pegasus had long desired Seto Kaiba, but the boy had never quite warmed up to him. It really didn't help when he had betrayed the millionaire teen. And he supposed that kidnapping his younger brother had only made the ice colder. But Pegasus was a businessman, and he always got what he wanted. No matter what. No matter who stood in his way. Always. He turned and walked to the window, gazing out. True, he loved to see people struggle to rise, fight for their beliefs, even if all the attempts were futile. No one beat Pegasus J. Crawford. No one. In the window, the silver haired founder of Duel Monsters caught a glimpse of just how the moonlight captured his golden eye, making it shine. It looked horrid suddenly, this beautiful and powerful item, and Pegasus had to look away. A golden eye. It seemed wondrous, and no one ever asked him about it. He was rich, he was powerful, and there were no questions. Of course his silver bangs usually kept the Millennium Eye hidden from sight, so not many people even noticed it. Reaching out, he touched the window with his hand. The glass was smooth and very cold, it felt good. He had no regrets, so what exactly was bothering him anyw

He knew the answer. Ryou. Oh, Ryou had hated him at first. Yelled and pleaded with him to release his friends. But Pegasus had only laughed. He winced now, thinking of how his cruel laughter had made his little Change of Heart cry. Change of Heart"¦ Oh God"¦ was that what was happening?! Impossible! Ryou was his, he had won the Duel. Ryou had said that he understood the risk even before they had begun, and knew what exactly the risk was! He had thought sometimes that the only thing that kept the white haired teen from running away was his Yami's desire for the Millennium Eye, but lately Ryou Bakura had softened to the cold Founder. He talked with him, reasoned with him, teased him, and at times, he even smiled at him. Pegasus had decided, after seeing Ryou smile for the first time, that it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

He made the second deal then, so that little Bakura would stay, and so that Yami Bakura would be satisfied. If Ryou won a Duel he, and all of his friends, would be free. They had Dueled every day for three weeks. He only got a little better. Pegasus smirked. The last Duel that they had done had been for something different. Something very personal. It had been almost a month since they had Dueled, and Pegasus had made an offer. Yami Bakura had refused him hotly, but at the promise of the Millennium Eye, he had given in. Poor little Ryou Bakura barely had a word in the matter. He could do nothing as his Yami took control, intent on winning the Item, and had lost. Two Duels, it was a Match. Pegasus had won and as Yami Bakura had promised, he would not resurface for three days and three nights. Pegasus had that long. He had thought at first, that he would simply jump the teen. And then came the incident yesterday, the first day without Ryou's Yami. He couldn't believe Ryou had-----

"P-Pegasus-sama?" His Angel's voice spoke from the bed, quiet and drowsy. Pegasus turned around.

"Yes Ryou?" He asked. He remembered the first time that Ryou has muttered his name with respect. It had been on Pegasus's command, shortly after little Bakura had lost the Duel. It had been a curse then. Now, it was a simple tired formality.

"Go to sleep, Pegasus-sama, it's 4:30am" With that, Ryou yawned and promptly feel back asleep. Pegasus took another deep breath and walked back over to the bed, sliding under the covers on the other side of the sleeping teen. He scooted back until they touched. Ryou made a small noise of contentment, but other than that, he didn't move. The Founder smiled and closed his amber eye. Yes, he would have Ryou. ALWAYS.

As he began to drift off he began to retrace the past few months, trying to remember how exactly this had all come about. The Duelist King Tournament, the Finals. Defeating Seto and Yugi, taking their Souls. Along with Tristan, Tea, and Joey's. And last of all, how Ryou had bravely faced him. And how he had defeated Ryou. Crushed and shattered him easily. But so much had changed in three months... A Change of Heart? No way. NO way. NO WAY.
