SOULMATES NEVER DIE

Because soul mates never die
Placebo – sleeping with ghosts
Yugi was on his way home from school, humming a little song to himself. He felt quite cheerful, the weather was good and he had a nice day. It was weekend again! Not that he hated school, well, not really, but in the weekend he had enough time to do what he loved most: play Duel monsters!
It didn’t take long before he was home, since he was living close to school. Instead of getting into the house he walked straight to his grandfathers shop to greet the old man. But inside he found something else than he expected. In the shop were standing several customers, all waiting impatiently, muttering to each other. Yugi’s ears caught a few words like “bad service” and “I’m never coming here again.” One of the customers that came often to the shop recognized him and approached him.
“Yugi! Where’s your grandfather? We’ve been waiting here for hours!”
Yugi frowned.
“He’s not here?”
“No! One of the customers saw him get into his house and he never returned.”
By that time all the other customers had surrounded them, listening to their conversation.
“Hmm, that’s strange. He should be here.” The young duellist scratched his head.
“I’ll get into the house and check where he is, alright? Please wait here. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience.”
“It’s about time,” one of the customers muttered under his breath, but Yugi chose to ignore it and walked through the door that connected the shop to the house. He somehow had the feeling that something was wrong, and that made him really worried.
“Grandpa?” he called out questioningly, scanning the room for any sign of his grandfather. His eyes widened when he spotted the old man lying on the ground.
“Grandpa!” He yelled and ran quickly to him with fear in his heart. His grandfather was lying on the ground on his belly and didn’t move, he didn’t answer either when he called him again.
Yugi carefully rolled him on his back and gasped when a pair of eyes stared at him, lifelessly.
“Grandpa, no!”
He shook him over and over, but to no avail. He checked the old man’s pulse, there was none.
“Grandpa! Please wake up! Please!” he cried out. Tears rolled uncontrollably down his cheeks.
“Please...” he begged and buried his face in his grandfather’s chest. He forgot the world around him entirely, he could only think of the loss he felt. He vaguely felt someone lift him up and he looked at the figure through a blurr of tears, only seeing something blue. But before he could open up his mouth to speak he passed out.
Yugi woke up and blinked, his eyes adjusting to the light. He frowned as he recognized the ceiling of his bedroom, how did he get here? Then he remembered what had happened that afternoon and he shot up, only to be pushed back by two warm hands. Yami.
“Easy now, little one.”
“B-but... Yami! My grandfather! sta stammered frantically.
“Sssh...don’t worry,” Yami spoke soothingly.
Yugi looked into Yami’s eyes, searching for comfort. He felt scared. Really scared. Yami looked back at him, his look full of pity and comprehension.
“wh...what happened?” he asked, afraid of the answer.
Yami took a deep breath and responded:
“Yugi...your grandfather...OUR grandfather...he got a heartattack. He...didn’t survive.”
Yugi felt like his world collapsed. His grandfather had passed away?!
“No...”
He clenched his fists and closed his eyes, trying to prevent the upwelling tears from falling, unsuccesfully. It just couldn’t be that his grandfather had died! The man who had taken care of him his entire life, the only family he had left, was gone. Forever.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up at Yami. He tried to blink his tears away.
“Yami...” his voice sounded hoarse.
“I know,” the other answered.
Yugi couldn’t control himself and threw his arms around him, hugging him tightly, crying on his chest. Yami gently rubbed his back, trying to comfort him.
“It’s alright...”
Yugi shook his head, unable to hold back any tears.
“It just can’t be!”
They sat like that for what seemed like hours, Yami speaking soft comforting words to him. After a while Yugi finally calmed down a little, now only sobbing a bit. Suddenly he pulled away.
“Oh!”
Yami frowned surprised.
“What?”
“The customers!”
The pharaoh smiled a little.
“Don’t worry, I took care of that. I explained what happened...sort of.”
Yugi managed a smile.
“You closed the shop, I suppose?”
Yami nodded.
“And I also took care of.. well, you know.. your grandfather...”
The younger boy nodded thankfully, glad he didn’t have to worry about that.
“What would I do without you, Yami?”
“I came here as soon as possible when I sensed something was wrong,” he spoke softly, wiping the strands of hair out of the others face. Yugi smiled sadly at him.
“Do you want something to drink or eat?”
He shook his head and lay back down, pulling the blanket up to his chin.
“I’m not hungry at all. I just wish to sleep.”
Yami tucked him in like he was a little kid and pressed a gentle kiss on his forehead.
“Then sleep well, little one. I’ll stay near. If anything’s wrong, just call my name.”
The bed shifted when he stood up and slowly walked out of the room. Yugi felt a little better, knowing his yami was near to watch over him, and closed his eyes. Exhausted from all the tears he had shed, he fell asleep quickly.
In the middle of the night, Yugi woke up with a startled scream. He shot up, sweating extremely, his eyes all wide. Then he burst out in tears. Immediately, there was a knock on the door.
“Yugi? Are you alright?” he heard Yami’s voice. For a moment he wondered how he got here so fast, but then figured he had stayed awake and felt something was wrong through their link.
As he didn’t respond, the door was carefully opened and Yami came inside.
“Yugi?”
As his other half saw the state he was in, he quickly rushed towards him.
“Y-Yami...a nightmare...my grandpa...” Yugi sobbed, not able to form whole sentences.
Yami rubbed his back and tried to whipe away the tears with a hanky. He let him blow his nose and got a glass of water for him until he finally calmed down. Yugi was ashamed because he had to be treated like a little child, but he just couldn’t help himself. All his strength had left him, and it was only because of Yami that he was still somewhat alive. He felt like shutting himself up in his mind and to never come out of it again, just like he had done when he had lost a duel for the first time. Then it had been his friends who had pulled him out of his state of zombie, now it was Yami who prevented it from happening. But it was just so diffucult not to give into the temptation to jshutshut the world out. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier if you lived in your own fantasy world, with no sadness, just happiness? With no clue of what was happening in the real world?
//Oh no, you don’t!//
Yugi looked up from his thoughts as Yami spoke to him mentally.
/What?/
The former pharaoh narrowed his eyes.
//Creating a fantasy world is no solution, Yugi.//
He felt a blush creeping up his cheeks as he realized the other must have heard his thoughts.
//I know how much you loved your grandfather, I felt it every time you thought about him. But locking yourself up in your head isn’t going to help. You’ll only end up as a bitter person in a madhouse.//
“Yami...”
//And have you even considered what would happen to me when you’d turn into some kind of zombie?//
Yugi bent his head in shame. He hadn’t thought about that. He didn’t know what would happen to his other half, but he was sure it wasn’t something all too nice...
“I’m really sorry Yami,” he said softly. “Please don’t be mad at me.”
Yami sighed deeply and took him into his arms, pulling him close against his chest. He clung onto his shirt and bit his bottom lip, trying hard not to cry again.
“It’s ok, Yugi. It’s hard, I know. Just stay with me alright? Don’t lock yourself away.”
Yugi nodded his head.
“I won’t.”
They hugged each other tightly for a while, until Yami released him and gently pushed him on his back.
“You need to go to sleep now. You need your rest.”
Yugi nodded and smiled slightly at him as he stood up, wished him goodnight and walked out of the room. He tried to go to sleep but found he couldn’t, he kept thinking about his grandfather and about Yami’s words. He felt guilty for not considering what would happen to him if he himself would shut the world out. How could he have been so selfish?
/Yami...if you can hear me...I’m really sorry. I’ve been selfish./
It was silent and Yugi figured was was asleep, when he suddenly got an answer.
//Yugi, your grandfather just died, so I don’t blame you for anything. Just stay realistic, alright? Wouldn’t want to live without you.//
/I don’t know if I can, but I’ll try. For you, I’ll try./
//Thank you.//
Yugi didn’t realize he had fallen asleep until Yami woke him up next morning, carrying a tray with breakfast and a pile of papers. He looked curiously at it and asked, pointing at the papers: “What’s that?”
“Th of of later concern,” Yami answered simply as he put the tray on Yugi’s pedestal cupboard. “Breakfast comes first.”
Yugi frowned, but then shrugged and started to eat the breakfast that had been made for him. It tasted really delicious. He knew of Yami’s cooking talent now, but the first time the pharao had cooked he had been really surprised by the good quality. When he told him, Yami had laughed and said that after millenia of practise, one would be able to cook a good meal. He smiled a little at the memory.
After he had finished his breakfast, Yugi looked up questioningly at the other, who was waiting for him until he was ready. Yami frowned.
“Do you want to dress first?”
He shook his head, he didn’t feel like getting up, let alone dress.
“Alright.”
Yami grabbed the papers from the tray and handed them to him.
“This is your grandfather’s last will. The notary said you must take a good look at it. Your grandfather doesn’t say muchut tut the way he wants to be buried, so you’re the one who has to arrange a proper ral ral for him. You inherit most of his stuff, there are only a few things that a few of his old friends inherit. But you can arrange that later with the notary, I told him you’d visit as soon as you felt capable of it. Most important is that you organise a funeral for your grandfather now.”
Yugi swallowed away the lump in his throat, then nodded.
“I’ll start with it right away.”
“Good luck.”
Yami stup aup and walked away, leaving him alone to do the work. Yugi started to read the testament, but found it more difficult than he had expected. He had a hard time keeping control as he read his grandfather’s last will. How he declared that he loved his grandson and left all of his belongings in good trust to him. By the time it was lunchtime Yugi was crying, and still had arranged nothing for the funeral. He had no idea how to do this. He felt so helpless! He looked up as the door op. Ya. Yami. Of course.
“How’s it going?”
He gasped as he saw the tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Yugi!”
He rushed towards him.
“Yami, I...I have arranged nothing...!” he sobbed. “I just...can’t....I don’t know how...!”
“Yugi, dry your tears.”
Yugi looked up and sniffled, whiping the tears away with the back of his hand. Yami took the papers and pen from him.
“I’ll help you.”
He observed the pharao as he started to read through the papers, biting on the tip of the pen. He thought about their relationship, how close they were. People often looked oddly at them when they were walking hand in hand or hugged each other in public. It had happened more then once that he was asked if he was gay. But he had always answered no, he never thought about Yami in a sexual way. Well, maybe it had occurred a few times, but still… He felt totally comfortable the way they lived with each other and never minded Yami’s touch, no, he even enjoyed it. He couldn’t picture himself living without it, he couldn’t picture himself living without Yami at all. He was his other half, his soul mate, they belonged to each other.
Yugi wondered what it would be like to love Yami. He shook his head and quickly shove the thought aside. He wasn’t supposed to think like that about his yami!
“Yugi? Are you going to plan that funeral or what?”
He looked up at Yami when he spoke and blushed, hoping he hadn’t been listening to his thoughts. fro frowned slightly, but said nothing. He quickly started to figure things out for his grandfather’s burial. n thn they were finally finished planning the funeral, Yugi was exhausted. As Yami went off to make some phone calls, he lay back down and closed his eyes, enjoying his rest for a moment. He hadn’t been out of bed the whole day, except for a few times to go to the toilet. His clothes were all sweaty, his body dirty, and he didn’t even care. He let out a deep sigh and pulled off his shirt, feeling quite hot. A moment later Yami returned with dinner. He frowned as he saw him without shirt and blushed a little. Yugi wondered why. It couldn’t be that he felt uncomfortable with it, could it?
Yami coughed and handed him his food, a microwave-meal it seemed.
“Oh Yami, could you open the window for me, please? It’s a little muggy.”
The pharaoh did as asked, muttering under his breath that he was spoiling him too much. Yugi grinned sheepishly.
“I’m sure you do it with love.”
Yami rolled his eyes and sighed deeply as he sat down on the edge of the bed. Yugi looked with big puppy dog eyes at him and batted his eyelashes as he leaned closer to the other.
“Or don’t you love me anymore?”
Yami blushed and backed away a bit. The young duellist grinned, knowing the effect his big, innocent eyes could have. He often put op his puppy dog eyes if he wanted to get something done from someone, and it never failed him.
“That’s not fair,” Yami growled.
“What?” he asked innocently, receiving a glare from his other half.
“So, did you manage to arrange everything?” Yugi changed the subject.
Yami nodded.
“The funeral will be next Tuesday. You don’t have to worry about anything, I’ve got everything settled.”
“Thank you very much for doing this for me, Yami. It’s really kind of you.”
Yami stood up and picked up Yugi’s empty plate from the cupboard.
“Anytime, little one.”
That night, Yugi found he couldn’t sleep –again. He was tossing and turning, staring into the dark. But sleep just couldn’t fathom him. His head was too clouded with thoughts of his grandpa and every now and then a few tears rolled down his cheeks.
He let out a deep, frustrated sigh as he turned around for what seemed the zillionth time.
/Yami? Are you awake?/
//Yes.//
/Could you…please come over here? I can’t sleep…/
He didn’t get an answer, but a few seconds later his door was opened. He couldn’t see anything in the dark, but he heard Yami’s soft footsteps and he felt the bed shift under his weight as he sat down. His own hand sought the others and quickly found it. Yami’s hand was warm. He tangled his own small fingers with his long, slender one’s.
“Couldn’t sleep again, huh?” Yami spoke softly, the pity sounding through his voice.
“No…”
“Is there anything I can do?”
Yugi hesitated. He knew something, but… With bright red cheeks he asked:
“C-could you…please stay with me tonight?”
He was glad it was dark so he couldn’t see him blushing.
Yami remained silent. It made Yugi feel very uncertain.
“I feel so much better when you’re watching over me,” he carefully added. Yami didn’t answer but lay down next to him, taking him into his arms. Yugi thankfully snuggled closer to him, burying his face in his other half’s bare chest. He immediately felt better, not only his body but also his soul warmed up by Yami’s body heat.
“You know,” he whispered, “when I was little I used to crawl into grandpa’s bed if I was sad or scared because of a nightmare or bullies at school or something.”
“Uhuh…”
“And then I would snuggle close to him and he would hold me tight. That always made me feel better.”
Yami gently caressed his cheek.
“That’s really sweet.”
“Yeah…Actually, I knew grandpa could die anytime now. He was quite old already. I just.. didn’t expect it. I never saw it coming.”
Yugi sighed deeply.
“I really miss grandpa. But you know what scares me the most?”
“No?”
“That I’m totally alone right now. I have no one left. Of course, I have my friends, but that’s different! I don’t share a blood relation with them.”
“And what about a mental link? Is that also different?”
Yugi smiled a little and hugged Yami tightly, sensing he was offended a little.
“How could I forget? I still have you, of course.”
“Of course,” Yami answered, as if it was completely normal. But they both knew it wasn’t. The strong bond they shared was quite rare, even for a yami and his hikari.
It was silent for a while, the only sound that could be heard was their breathing, until Yugi spoke:
“Yami?”
“Yes?”
“How can it be that I always feel so secure in your arms?”
“That’s because we belong together. Without each other we’re just incomplete.”
“Does that mean you will never leave me?”
Yami pressed a quick kiss on his lips. Yugi was a little caught off guard by this, usually he never kissed him on the lips.
“Yugi…I’ll always be here for you. Whether you need me or not.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Yugi smiled and closed his eyes as he lay his head on the pillow.
“Thanks, Yami. I feel better now. Goodnight.”
“ ‘Night.”
The next day, Yugi stayed in bed all the time, and either did he the day after that, though he actually had to go to school. Fortunately, Yami was so kind to call the school and explain why he couldn’t be there. The Pharaoh did go to school himself, though. He tried to convince him to come too, he’d have some distraction then, but he simply red. ed. So now he was left alone, mourning his grandfather’s death and wondering how he’d survive the funeral tomorrow.
Yugi looked at his alarm clock and saw that it was 4:07 PM. Yami would come home any time now.
Like speaking of the devil, he heard the front door open and then slam shut. A moment later, he heard footsteps on the stairs, and next a short knock on his door.
“Come in.”
Yami opened the door and frowned as he saw he was still lying in bed. He leant against the door-post while he crossed his arms.
“Still in bed, I see?”
Yugi, feeling a little ashamed of himself, slightly nodded his head.
Yami sighed deeply and slowly shook his head as he approached the bed. As he sat down on the edge, Yugi sat up straight.
“You really have to get out of bed, Yugi, before you turn into the sleeping beauty.”
Yugi had to smile a little at the reference to the fairytale, but then let out a sigh.
“I don’t want to. I’m fine here, right where I am.”
“The day after the funeral you’ll have to go to school again, or else you’ll miss too much,” his other half said sternly.
“Who are you to tell me what to do?! You’re not my grandpa!” Yugi spat. Immediately he regretted his words as he saw the hurt look in Yami’s eyes.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean… I’m really, really sorry!” he quickly said.
“It’s OK,” Yami answered, but he could see he still felt hurt. He grabbed his hand.
“No, it’s not,” he said softly. Yami looked at him questioningly.
“You took good care of me the past few days, and this is how I repay you… it was very rude of me. I wasn’t thinking. I’m really sorry.”
“Yugi…” Yami caressed his cheek.
“I told you: it’s OK.”
Yugi smiled sweetly at him.
/Yami?/
//Yes?//
/Hug?/
Yami smiled and pulled him close. Yugi wrapped his arms around him and buried his face in his chest. He absently played with the button of the others jacket as he felt a hand running through his hair. He smiled contently and closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth and comfort of the embrace.
As Yugi opened his eyes again, he saw a huge bulge in Yami’s pants. He gasped and pulled away from him.
“Y-Yami!” he stammered, then bent his head, blushing fiercely. He didn’t dare to look at the other. Yami slid a finger under his chin, forcing him to look at him.
“Yugi, look at me.”
Yugi stared at him, obviously in shock.
//Forgive me for this.//
Yugi’s eyes grew wide as Yami pressed his lips on his. He was so scared that he didn’t know how to react.
The Pharaoh pulled away and looked deep into his eyes.
//Think about this. Figure out what you feel. I’ll see you tomorrow at the funeral.//
Then he stood up, glanced one more time at him, and left.
Yugi stared at the door where Yami had just walked through. He whimpered as he heard the front door slam shut. He touched his lips, still feeling the impression of Yami’s lips on his. Then he clenched his fist as a few tears rolled down his cheeks.
Yugi pulled up his legs and hugged his knees. Why had Yami suddenly kissed him? Could it be that he loved him? It had to be. He didn’t know any other explanation. Yami would never use him “just for fun.” But…what did he himself feel for the pharaoh?
Think about this. Figure out what you feel.
What did he feel? Yugi shook his head in confusion. He often thought about his yami and always felt secure when he was near. He enjoyed his company, he could have a good laugh with him but he could also tell him any problem he had. When Yami was listening, he felt understood. But the question was: could they get along so well because they were yami and hikari, or was it more than that?
Yugi thought about Bakura and Ryou. They were yami and hikari too, but they couldn’t get along as well as he and his yami could! But did that mean there was love between them?
Frustrated, Yugi lay down, closed his eyes and tried to sleep, for he saw no other option to escape this confusing thoughts.
Beep, beep, beep.
“Hn.”
Beep, beep, beep.
“Yeah, yeah.”
Yugi sighed irritated as he turned his alarm clock off. Today would be his grandfather’s funeral…
He dragged himself out of his bed to the bathroom, took a quick shower, washed his hair, dressed himself in a black tux… Didn’t want to look bad on his own grandfather’s burial.
Yugi looked into the mirror as he combed his hair and grimaced. His skin was pale and though he had been in bed for 3 days, he looked tired, with bags under his eyes. He sighed, put the comb away and went downstairs to have breakfast. 10 minutes later the limo came to pick him up. He quickly put his plate in the sink as he heard the horn of the car and went outside. The chauffeur, an old, almost bald man, smiled kindly at him and opened the back door. Yugi forced a smile and got into the limousine.
Inside the car, Yami was already waiting for him. He was also wearing a black tux. As a greeting, he nodded his head to him.
“Hi,” Yugi said softly as he sat down. He felt quite uncomfortable. He hadn’t forgotten yet what had happened yesterday.
An awkward silence fell between them as the car drove away. Yugi was glad it didn’t take long to get to the cemetery.
At the cemetery, near the church, his friends were already there, all dressed up in black. As soon as they spotted him, they rushed towards him, giving him their condolences. They all told him they felt really sorry for him, that they had been worried and that they hoped he would soon attend school again. Yugi just nodded his head, he didn’t know what to say.
Then, the funeral started. In the church, a few people held a speech, including himself. Yugi felt the lump in his throat rise as he spoke about his grandfather, and he had trouble keeping the tears from falling. But he managed.
After that, an old friend of grangrandpa, who he recognized vaguely, held a speech, then Jou, and as last the priest.
Then, everyone was allowed to walk past his grandfather’s coffin to say their last goodbyes. Yugi looked at the old man through a blur of tears. He bit his bottom lip to prevent them from falling. His grandfather’s hair was grey, his hair was no longer defying gravity but hung in thin strands next to his head. He looked a 100 years old.
“Goodbye, grandpa. I’ll miss you,” he whispered and pressed a quick kiss on his forehead. Cold.
The whole time, Yugi had tried to avoid Yami. He couldn’t take the looks of pity he received from him. But when he saw his grandfather’s coffin disappear under the ground, he couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed Yami’s hand, pinching in it.
His other half rubbed the back of his hand comfortingly with his thumb. Yugi sniffled and tried to wipe away the tears that escaped from his eyes, but they just kept on coming. Before they started digging, he threw a white rose in the grave; his grandfather’s favourite. Yugi watched as they dug the earth back into the grave, while his friends left silently one by one. He stayed the entire time, with Yami beside him, until they were finished digging and put the gravestone on its right place.
Yami gently pulled his arm and he looked up at him. The other looked back questioningly. He glanced one more time at his grandfather’s name on the gravestone, then turned back to him and nodded.
Yugi let Yami take him home. As soon as he was in the living room, he kicked off his shoes and let himself collapse on the couch. He tucked his hands behind his head, closed his eyes and listened to the sounds of his other half rummaging through the kitchen. As he opened his eyes, a glass of juice was standing on the table next to him .He sat up straight and drank his drink. Finishing it quickly, he put the glass back on the table and looked up. Yami was sitting on the big chair, his favourite, and watched him.
“How do you feel?”
Yugi shrugged.
“I’m alright, I guess. Now that grandpa’s buried, it feels really…infinite.”
He smiled a little.
“It’s not that I’m over it already. It’s just that I’ve come to accept the fact that my grandpa isn’t with me anymore.”
Yami nodded understandingly and smiled back at him.
“That’s good to hear.”
A silence fell between them again, but it wasn’t as awkward anymore as before, in the car. Still, Yugi got quite nervous as he thought that they hadn’t spoken about yesterday’s events yet.
“Yami?” he suddenly broke the silence. “How do you know that you’re in love with someone?”
Yami frowned at the question, but did consider it before answering.
“I guess, when you’re in love with someone…” he started, “you think about that person almost all the time. You feel like you need to be close to that person, and when you are, you feel very happy and secure.”
He hesitated for a moment, but then continued: “Most people also think about the one they love in a….sexual way. You know that person is the only one who can turn you on, and you want to make love to him, but…just to be with him would be enough.”
Yugi stared at Yami as he let the words sink in. He knew he thought about the pharaoh very often, and he felt like he couldn’t live without him. And when he was close, he indeed felt very happy and secure. But did he also thought about him in a sexual way? Did he want to make love to his yami? Sure, he was really handsome and sexy, especially when he was wearing tight-leather-fitting-like-a-second-skin-butt-clinging pants, but…
Yami grinned and blushed, running a hand through his hair. Yugi frowned. His eyes widened and he turned very, very red as he realized what was going on.
Yami chuckled shyly.
“Sorry. Couldn’t resist it.”
Yugi muttered under his breath that he was never ever going to let his mental link open again, which made Yami grin like an idiot.
“Why were you listening to my thoughts anyway?!” he said, a little pissed off. “It’s not like you had any reason to!”
His other half hiked an eyebrow.
“Don’t you think it makes me a little suspicious when you, of all people, suddenly ask me about love?”
“Yeah, but…”
“You’re just pissed off because you’re ashamed, and that shame makes you feel uncomfortable.”
Yugi sighed in defeat.
“Fine. You’re right, as always.”
Yami smirked and stood up. The young duellist felt his heart pound in his throat as he saw him approaching and he sat down next to him.
He smiled shyly, he didn’t really know how to act.
“So, have you figured out your feelings yet?” the pharaoh asked casually. But he wasn’t as casual as he pretended to be, he avoided his gaze, which was a sign he was probably as nervous as himself.
Yugi cleared his throat.
“Yeah, well, I…I’ve thought about it, but…I’m still not really sure.”
Yami looked up at him and sighed.
“I’m sorry I’m making you so nervous.”
“No, no, I’m not nervous!” he protested. His other half snorted.
“Don’t deny it. You’re nervous. Just as nervous as I am.”
Yugi grabbed his hand, trying to cheer him up.
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”
“No, it’s no-…..errr….”
He laughed at the others confusion. Yami smiled and caressed his cheek.
“You look so cute when you laugh,” he said softly. It made them both blush.
“Yugi?”
“Yes?”
“Can I… please kiss you?”
Yugi gulped, and agreed. He closed his eyes and awaited the kiss. Next he felt Yami’s lips on his and he was surprised by their softness. The kiss they shared was short, but really tender.
Yami smiled delighted, his face still so close they could feel each others breath.
“That wasn’t so bad now, was it?”
Yugi smiled back and shook his head. Then he blushed and asked shyly:
“Can we do it ag-…?”
But before he could finish his sentence, Yami kissed him again, more forceful this time. Yugi panicked for a moment, but then remembered it was just Yami and relaxed. As the other bit softly on his bottom lip he opened his mouth instinctively, granting access to his tongue.
The pharaoh played with his tongue, rolling it around, playfully licking his lips. Yugi quickly got the hang of it and returned the kiss. Soon the passion was burning and they were both battling for control.
But when Yami suddenly slid his hands under his shirt, the young duellist pulled away, scared.
“Y-Yami!”
“I’m sorry! I got a bit carried away,” he quickly apologized.
Yugi bit his bottom lip.
“Yami, it’s not that I don’t enjoy it, but…I’m just so inexperienced! I don’t know what or how…I’m just plain clueless.”
“Yugi, maybe it’s best to worry less about what and how and to just follow your instincts.”
He looked with his big eyes at him, his uncertainty clearly visible.
“But what if I do something wrong?”
Yami smiled and ruffled his hair.
“You know that even your biggest mistakes don’t seem wrong in my eyes. Besides, practise makes perfect.”
Then he smirked mischievously.
“But maybe I know something to loosen you up a little.YugiYugi frowned as his yami rushed upstairs, telling him he’d be right back. He wondered what he was planning to do and waited impatiently for him to return.
His eyes widened and he gasped as Yami descended down the stairs. Because his other half was only wearing a pair of unbuttoned pants. A pair of tight-leather-fitting-like-a-second-skin-butt-clinging pants. (A/N: Just picture him 0_o *drool*) He smirked seductively and spoke: “I’ll be waiting for you in your room.”
He turned around, letting him admire his butt, and took a few steps up the stairs before he looked back over his shoulder, winked, and beckoned him. Then he disappeared to the bedroom.
Yugi blinked and rushed upstairs as fast as he could.
In front of his bedroom door, he hesitated for a moment, but then grabbed the doorknob firmly and pushed the door open. He gulped, Yami was lying in a very seductive pose on the bed. He looked so attractive… No, attractive wasn’t the right word to describe him. He was simply beautiful.
Yugi softly closed the door behind him, as if the other was asleep and he tried not to wake him, and walked slowly towards the bed. Yami straightened as he saw him approaching and patted next to him on the bed invitingly. As Yugi sat down he immediately started to kiss him. He pulled him down with him and then carefully rolled on top of him. Yami’s lips left his and moved to his cheek and jaw line, and then further to his ear. Yugi squirmed as he kissed his earlobe, that was sensitive! Yami chuckled softly, pleased that he was enjoying his actions, and paid some more attention to his earlobe.
//That’s a spot to remember.//
He suckled softly while he pulled off the jacket of Yugi’s tux. Then he kissed his way down to his neck and started to unbutton his shirt, next to pull it off. Yugi buried one hand in Yami’s hair and sighed pleased as his other half ran his hands up and down his chest and covered it with kisses, leaving a hot, wet trace. He gasped as he clutched his hardened nipple with his lips, running his tongue over it teasingly slow. He moaned softly making his yami shiver. The pharaoh gave the other nipple the same treatment as he ran his hands over his thighs and groin.
“Hn!”
Yugi buckled his hips up automatically, begging for more. This was driving him crazy! He was incredibly turned on and didn’t know how much longer he could wait.
Yami sensed it and decided not to tease him any longer. He unzipped his pants and pulled them off and, after that, his boxers. He looked him up and down and smiled genuinely before he pressed his lips on his. He kissed him intensely while he gently stroke his hard member. Yugi moaned against his lips, all those new sensations he was feeling were almost overwhelming. Yami pulled away and looked deep into his eyes as he wiped some sweat from the young boy’s forehead.
//So pure and innocent…//
He smiled again and kissed his way down his chest once more until he reached his abdomen. Then he took his hard cock in his hands and closed his mouth around the tip, licking away the precum. Yugi blurted out a moan and arched his back. He could hardly believe what he was experiencing, and he guessed this was only half of it yet…
He clutched the sheets as Yami shove his shaft further into his mouth, then took it in fully, sucking him off. He had never known a feeling like this. Sure he had had an erection before, but that was because of his teenage hormones. He could never have guessed it would feel so much better when you were together with the person you cared the most for.
“Hn…Yami!”
Moaning his name caused his other half to suck harder. He was obviously aroused by the reactions he was evoking. Yugi felt his orgasm coming close. His eyes widened and he gasped, letting out a surprised moan, as he climaxed in the pharaoh’s mouth. Yami pulled away and swallowed, then hovered over him again. He waited patiently till he had calmed down, he was panting rather quickly. As Yugi had caught his breath he smiled and gently kissed him. He tasted salty. He tasted himself, the young duellist realized.
“Enjoying it so far?” his other half asked. He nodded, receiving a smile.
“I’m glad to hear that.”
Yugi laid his hands on his chest and gently but resolutely pushed him backwards. He sat on his knees across the pharaoh and wrapped his arms around his waist, pulling him close. It sent a shiver up and down his spine as his renewed erection pressed against the other’s. His yami moaned softly as he nipped at his bottom lip and ran his hands up and down his chest. Then he carefully pulled down the zipper of his pants and stripped off the piece of clothing.
Yugi was not surprised to find the other wore no underwear. He admired his body for a moment and let out a deep sigh.
“I wish I was as well-shaped as you.”
Yami slid his fingers under his chin and kissed him sweetly, surisuringly.
“You are beautiful the way you are.”
Yugi smiled shyly, he had never thought of himself of beautiful, and he was flattered his other half saw him that way. Then he claimed the pharaoh’s lips once again. He pulled away and hesitated. Yami noticed and frowned.
“What’s wrong, Yugi?”
Yugi looked up at him with his big innocent eyes. A blush crept up his cheeks as he spoke:
“Y-Yami, I…I really enjoyed what you did to me, and I’d like to return the favour, but…I don’t know how.”
Yami blinked, obviously surprised, and then smiled lovingly.
“Yugi, that’s really sweet, but you don’t have to. It’ll come later. Let me do the work for now.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely.”
His other half kissed him and pushed him on his back again, his lips never leaving his. They moaned in unison as he rubbed his erection against the other’s, turning them both on even more. They shared kisses and caresses until Yami pulled away and looked deep into his eyes.
“Are you ready?”
Yugi gulped, but then nodded. This was it now…
“You sure?”
“Yes,” he answered, sounding self-confident.
“Alright.”
His other half opened the drawer of his cupboard and took a bottle of lotion out of it. Yugi frowned, wondering since when he had that in his cupboard.
As if guessing his thoughts, Yami said with a wink:
“I took my precautions.”
Yugi smiled and hugged him tightly. He himself would never have thought of it! Then again, he hadn’t planned this whole thing to happen. Not that he minded it. Oh no.
Yami poured some lotion on his hand, glanced shortly at his other half to make sure he was alright, and then slid a finger inside of him. As he saw that gave no problems, he added another finger and stretched him till he thought that it was enough.
Yugi felt quite uncomfortable, and in the beginning it hurt a little, but soon enough he got used to it and he didn’t feel any pain anymore.
Yami positioned above him and looked questioningly at him. He nodded his head, signalling he was ready for it. That was the sign the other was waiting for and he thrusted in fully, taking him by surprise. Yugi gasped as he felt pain, but right after it pleasure as the pharaoh hit his most sensitive spot immediately. Now that was what he called “well aimed.”
He looked up from his thoughts as he felt Yami’s lips travel over his face, covering it with kisses. He licked away a tear that he didn’t realize had fallen.
“Are you okay?” his other half mumbled against his lips.
Yugi nodded his head and pulled him close against his chest, wanting for him to continue. This mix of pain and pleasure…such a strange sensation….But good. He definitely wanted more of it.
Yami got the message and started a slow rhythm, each thrust carefully aimed for his most sensitive spot. That spot deep inside of him, he hadn’t even known it was there, but it was sending enormous waves of pleasure through his entire body with every direct hit.
Yugi moaned and arched his back, pushing himself up against his yami. He wanted him deeper, faster, he wanted more, he wanted all of him! Yami fastened and moaned too in respond, the other’s tight opening clutching at his member. He threw his head back in his neck as he thrusted in harder and faster again.
Yugi closed his eyes, his lips quivering. His yami’s thrusts weren’t so well aimed anymore, but he didn’t care. The pleasure was overwhelming and he couldn’t hold back his moans. Every noise he made was returned by noise from his other half, making him moan even more and even harder.
Their sweat mixed, they both had lost control of their breath and voice long ago as their orgasm was building up quickly. It wouldn’t take long anymore.
“Hn! Yugi!”
Yugi buckled his hips up, moving along with the pharaoh’s rhythm. He had the feeling he was melting into one with his other half. One body, one heart, one soul. And then he realized. He couldn’t live without his yami. Never. They really had melted into one. Their thoughts, their feelings…even their bodies were alike!
At that realization he felt himself going up to the highest height – and beyond.
“I love you!” he cried out as he spilled his seed on his and his lover’s chest.
Yami’s eyes shot open instantly and he gasped as he reached his orgasm right after.
“Ah…”
They both were panting quickly, trying to catch their breath. Yami stared at Yugi in shock, obviously surprised, no, stunned.
“Y-Yughe she stammered.
Yugi’s face was all flushed, but he was smiling. Then, Yami overcame the shock and smiled back.
“I love you too,” he said softly.
//You are more than just my hikari and my lover. You’re my soul mate. We belong to each other.//
Yugi’s smile became broader and he wrapped his arms around his yami’s neck, pulling him in for a kiss.
The pharaoh pulled out of him and let himself collapse on the bed before capturing his other half in a kiss again. Though they were both tired of their previous activities, they kissed long and passionately, the heat slightly growing again.
Suddenly Yugi pulled away and gazed up. His eyes were a bit teary.
“Yami?” he spoke softly. “What do you think grandpa would think of this?”
Yami looked surprised at him, caught off guard by the question. Then he caressed his cheek lovingly.
“He would be very happy for you, Yugi. For both of us.”
Yugi wrapped his arms around his waist and buried his face in his chest, sobbing softly. The pharaoh ran his hand through his hair and rubbed his back comfortingly.
“I’m sorry! I can’t help it!” the younger boy sobbed.
“Hush, little one. It’s okay. Dry your eyes.”
After a while he had calmed down. Yami slid his fingers under his chin. Yugi looked up at him and sniffled.
“Soul mate, dry your eyes,” his lover said as he wiped the last remaining tear away from his cheek with his thumb.
“Yami? You’ll never leave me or die on me, right? We’ll always be together, won’t we?” Yugi asked uncertainly.
Yami smiled and kissed him sweetly, tenderly, lovingly. He laid his entire heart and soul in that kiss. And Yugi returned it the same way.
//Yes, we’ll always be together, Yugi. Because soul mates never die.//

//Oh no, you don’t!//
//Thank you.//
Yugi didn’t realize he had fallen asleep until Yami woke him up next morning, carrying a tray with breakfast and a pile of papers.
//Yes.//
/Yami?/
//Yes?//
//Forgive me for this.//
Yugi’s eyes grew wide as Yami pressed his lips on his.
//That’s a spot to remember.//
//So pure and innocent…//
