No More Us
As we left off...Yugi was headed home when he was in an accident. Yami,
Kaiba, and Jou find his body...
Chapter 9: Close to...
"Yugi...is he?!" Jou says as he looks at Yugi's body.
Yami picks up Yugi and sees that his legs are crushed, and so is his
cell phone. He feels that Yugi is still breathing.
'Aibou...aibou! Don't die on me! Hang on, someone's going to help
you.'
Kaiba picks up his cell phone and dials the ambulance. Jou calls
Yugi's mom.
"The ambulance is on their way." Kaiba says.
"Yugi's mom is on the way too." Jou says.
Yami begins to cry as he holds on to Yugi's frail body.
"Who did this to you?! Open your eyes Yugi. Give me some kind
of sign that you're ok...at least tell me you're still alive!" Yami
yells. "You're a fighter aibou! I know that from first hand
experience! Don't go like this!"
Kaiba and Jou look as Yami cries and pleas for Yugi to be ok.
"Hit and run...I wonder who could have did it. No one ever comes
through these streets at night." Kaiba says as calmly as possible.
"I...still...love you...mou...hitori no....boku...." Yugi says.
"Hang on...you're not going to die! Not yet! You're going to
live until you're a hundred!"
Yugi weakly shakes his head.
"Stop...save your energy...you need to live!" Yami yells to
Yugi.
Yugi collapses once again in Yami's arms.
"Aibou!! Don't leave me now! Don't you dare die!"
Tears flow from Jou's eyes and Kaiba even fights the tears
as they threaten to take control.
The ambulance finally comes and they put him in the back.
"We need one person to come with us." A nurse says.
Yami jumps in. "Let's go!"
The back door shuts and the ambulance speeds off to Domino
General Hospital. They reach the hospital and send Yugi
directly to ICU.
"Sir, are you related to him?" A doctor asks Yami.
"You can say that. I'm his...twin brother." Yami says thinking
of something other than 'He's my ex-boyfriend'.
Many machines are hooked to Yugi as the doctors analyze the
extent of the damage to his legs and other parts of his body.
Yami takes hold of Yugi's hand and Yugi holds tightly.
'Please live Yugi...'
"We need you to leave for right now." the doctor says to
Yami.
Yami stands to leave but he can't.
"He...stay...." Yugi says weakly.
"I'm sorry sir, but he has a firm grip on my hand." Yami says. "He
won't let go."
The doctor sighs then hands Yami a mask, bonnett and apron. Yami
puts the things on to the best of his ability. The surgeons close his
wounds and put casts on his arm and legs.
Shortly after Yugi is put into a room. The doctor leaves the room.
'Keep fighting aibou. You're stronger than this...'
The door flies open and Mrs. Mutou runs to Yugi's side.
"Yugi! Yugi!" she yells.
Jou comes in and embraces Mrs. Mutou. She cries into his arms.
"My son...my only child..." she says as Jou tries to calm her.
The doctor and Kaiba comes in.
"Are you his mother?"
"Yes, I am. How is he? Will he live?!"
"Well, I have to come straight out and tell you this."
"What...what is it?!" she says as she grabs the doctor's collar.
Kaiba and Jou pull her away and sit her in a chair.
"He has to lose his legs. If they continue to stay on him, then in
about a week or so, he'll die from infection. Be glad that his brother
found him when he did. Any longer, and he would have passed at the
scene. Also, he needs blood. Badly. The blood lab has tested his blood
and he has an unknown type."
"You're kidding." Jou says.
The doctor shakes his head.
"He needs the transfusion within 24 hours, or he'll die due to loss of
blood."
"So..either way we look at it, he's doomed." Jou says.
Mrs. Mutou starts crying again. Kaiba smacks Jou.
"We've sent a request to hospitals around the world to find the blood.
So far, no success. I'm going to check with the nurses to see if anything
has came in. Mrs. Mutou, do you want him to have the amputation?"
She nods slowly. "I believe in a miracle for my child..."
"Ok. We cave tve the surgery shortly. Please excuse me." He says
walking out the door.
A moment or so later, Honda, Otogi, Ryou, Kura, Malik, and Marik come
in. They stand around Yugi's bed.
"He looks bad..." Ryou says.
"Is there any hope for him?" Honda asks.
Yami shakes his head.
"Just pluck up and accept his death. Eventually he has to die anyways."
Mariks.
s.
Malik smacks him with the Sen'nin Rod.
"That was so unappropriate!" Kaiba says to him.
"Ouch...ouch..." Marik says rubbing the spot on his head. "It's the truth."
'Aibou...don't leave here. You have so much to live for. I...I truly am
sorry for working at Kaiba Corp. and accepting Kaiba's conditions to
work...'
Yugi's grip becomes slightly tighter.
"Aibou?!" Yami says.
Everyone stops talking and look towards Yugi who is trying to move. They
gather around his bed.
Slowly, Yugi's eyes open...
"Aibou?" Yami says as tears start to come from his eyes.
Yugi looks around at everyone who is also close to tears. Even Kura and
Marik look like they're about to cry.
"Who...you?" Yugi asks as he looks at everyone.
He looks at Yami. "Who are you?"
Waves of relief flow throught everyone as they're glad that Yugi is
conscious.
"Yugi...How do you feel?" Mrs. Mutou asks.
"Like...hell. Who beat me up...?"
"No...no one beat you up. You were hit by a car." Yami says to him.
The door opens and a team of surgeons come into the room.
"I'm sorry, but we need everyone to leave." a nurse says.
Everyone leaves except for Yami.
"Sir, you have to leave also."
"No...he stay...I like him..." Yugi says to them.
