A Year With You

Seto sighed deeply as all of Jou’s little friends piled into the limo. They were going back to school in a few days so he was taking everyone to Kaiba Land. Mokuba invited his closest friend Nagi to go along as well. All that meant was that he had to keep track of 14 people. Anzu shot him a strange look as Mai pushed her way in as well. No one in the group had to pay considering that they were all going with the owner of the park so Mai decided to tag along. He was just upset. They weren’t at the park and he was already feeling ignored. Shizuka was talking with the other two girls Jou was talking rapidly with the geek squad and Mokuba was laughing with his friends. He knew no one would really want to ride the rides with him because they would all be scrambling to ride with one another. He was the odd man out.

Jou stretched as soon as he was out of the car. The manager of the park came hustling over and started handing out passes to every one. “These passes are your ticket into the park, and they are passes that will bump you to the front of the line. If you experience any problems just call me.” He nodded and turned to Kaiba who snorted. “If there are any problems I’m sure I can handle them thank you, Yamanami-san.” The man bowed and left. He slipped the pass over his neck and smiled at his sister. Yugi looked up at him and he smiled at his best bud. “Lets go ride some rides!” All of his friends yelled and they scrambled off to have fun.

Seto stood at the end of the line of his group for the roller coaster. As of now they were the only ones in the park because officially it hadn’t opened for the day. Everyone piled on and he noticed not only did he not have any one to ride with there weren’t any more seats. He decided to just brush it off and calmly took the things others handed to him. He watched as they went flying by and a few of the people in the group started to scream. He hoped it was just the girls because most had very high pitched screams but part of him doubted it.

If Seto was pleased about anything it was how full the park was. However he was slightly pissed because he had turned into the bag boy. He was irritated because he hadn’t been on any rides either because by the time every one who wanted to ride in their group got on there were no more places or he didn’t have any one to ride with. Most rides were just no fun by yourself. Not only was he bummed because he hadn’t been on the rides but he was starting to feel like some one was doing roadwork in his head and his stomach was filled with worms. He looked at everyone having fun on the teacups, one of his favorite rides, and felt suddenly very alone. The usual groups of two had formed larger groups of four leaving one group of two. However, no one even asked him if he wanted to ride with them. Everyone just handed off their stuff and got on and the group of two joined up with another group of two strangers. He turned to the nearest park employee and the young man smiled. “Watch this stuff for now. When my friends get off they can figure out what they want to do with it.” The kid nodded but then gently touched his arm. “Do you need to go sit down somewhere Kaiba-san you are looking a little pale?” He was oddly touched by the genuine concern but he was also irritated that none of his friends noticed. “No thank you I’m fine. If my friends ask, I’ll be over by the games.” The young man nodded and he walked off.

Seto sat playing games for a few hours handing his prizes off to random kids. He also gave out a ton of autographs. However, as the day wore on getting hotter he kept feeling worse. He grabbed a bottle of water and chugged it down hoping that dehydration was the cause. “Hay Seto!” He spun around spotting his brother and Jou. He forced a smile for his brother and Mokuba happily jogged over to him. “Having fun?” He asked and his brother nodded happily. “Yeah, Nagi is a lot of fun to be around. So, are you having lunch with us?” He wanted to shake his head but it was the first time he had really been invited to join the group. “I would love to, but I’m not feeling well so I think I need to head home.” His brother pouted slightly but nodded. “I understand. Feel better.” He kissed his little brother on the head and was happy to see Nagi come over and drag Mokuba off. Isono gave him a slight nod and silently fallowed his brother off.

Jou grabbed Seto’s arm and smiled softly. The brunet didn’t look well but more than any of that he looked hurt. “Stay for a while, Seto. Eating something and sitting in the shade for a bit might make you feel better. Then you and I can go play some games while our stomachs settle then we can go on any ride you want just the two of us. Mokuba and Nagi can come too.” Seto gave him a sidelong glance and he smiled shyly. “I know we have kind of been ignoring you all day and I’m sorry. So I want to make it up to you, ok?” Seto nodded slowly and he hugged the brunet tightly. “Cool, lets go eat. I’m starved!”

Jou pressed his face to the window of the Ferris wheel as they hit the top. The city lights sparkled like a thousand dancing jewels. The brightest of the jewels was Kaiba Corp. He turned to the teen CEO who was the only one in the cart with him and smiled tenderly. Seto was fast asleep. His heart was warmed by the oddly tender sight. Seto’s chin was pulled to his chest but his head was resting against the window. Seto’s arms were crossed over his stomach which had clutched the little stuffed golden puppy he had won for Kaiba. The kiss from when his sister arrived flashed though his mind and he was suddenly desperate to taste the slightly parted lips. The car moved and Seto sat up suddenly awake and the moment was gone. Blue eyes turned to him and he smiled. “Did you have fun today, puppy?” He nodded sliding across the cart taking a seat next to Kaiba. He leaned over and gave the CEO a gentle kiss on the cheek then linked his fingers with that of his friend. “Thanks, Seto.” The brunet stared at their interlocked hands for a few seconds then smiled. “You’re welcome, Pup.” He closed his eyes leaning against Seto’s shoulder sighing in contentment. It had been a great day.
