Yami looked around the carnival grounds, excitement lighting up his crimson eyes. Yugi had decided that morning to take him to the Domino City annual fair. They had left after lunch to go to head to the fair grounds. The scent of popcorn and cotten candy filled the air and loud voices and yells could be heard from the people on the rides. Giggling, he took Yugi's hand and led him towards one of the rides. Yugi looked up at the ride. It was a pirate ship that swung back and forth. He groaned, remembering how he once got sick on this ride when he came with Seto two years ago. Yami stopped, noticing Yugi wasn't following him, "what wrong?" he asked.

"Uh...you go ahead, Yami. I'll sit this ride out."

The taller frowned, "Yugi no come?" The other shook is head. "No fun w'out Yugi," he whined. "Please come with Yami?"

Yugi sighed, "fine. But if I get sick, it's your fault." He gasped as he felt the taller pull him onto the ride. He sat down next to the taller and gulped. Warm arms wrapped around his waist and Yami hugged him tightly, thanking him. He held his breath as the ride began moving, swinging back and forth slowly. He groaned, closing his eyes. He could feel his stomach in his throat. //Oh god, why did I agree to go on this?// he asked himself.

Yami giggled, freeing his arms and glapping his hands in delight as the ride soared through the air. He held his hands out, "Wheeeee!!" Immediately, he felt his arms pulled down to his side. Turning his head, he saw Yugi gripping onto them, his violet eyes wide. "Yugi scared?" he questioned. The other nodded shakily. Smiling, Yami placed his arms around him again, "Yami protec' Yugi," he explained.

Yugi closed his eyes, just waiting for the ride to finish. When it finally ended, he rushed off the ride and toward a trashcan just in case his stomach acted up on him. Yami ran over, "Yugi okay?"

The shorter nodded, standingn up strait. He wasn't throwing up, so he was fine. He looked up at Yami, "what do you want to do next, Yami?" he asked. Yami put a hand to his chin as he thought. After a moment of thinking, he pointed towards one of the game booths. Yugi nodded and they walked towards it.

"Come on over! Test your luck on the bottle toss!" Yami blinked, looking in the direction of the voice. A man in a purple and white striped shirt was standing in front of the booth, twirling a cane in his left hand. The man smirked, pointing his cane towards the tall spiky haired man, "how about you, sir? You seem like a lucky fellow, care to give this game a shot?" The man just kept staring blankly at him. He sighed, looking down and seeing a shorter male clinging onto the man's arm. He grinned, "come on, sir. You can win one of these fabulous prizes for your little boyfriend."

Yami's eyes widened and he snuck a peek down at Yugi, "win Yugi prize..." he whispered. Smirking, he tugged Yugi in the direction of the carnival employee. "Yami try."

The man grinned, "alrighty then, sir." He hopped over the booth and grabbed three baseballs. Handing them to Yami, he explained the rules, "all you have to do, sir, is throw those balls and try to hit all five of those bottles down in one hit. Think you can do it?"

Yami nodded excitedly and took the baseballs. Yugi rolled his eyes, letting out a loud sigh and taking a few dollars out of his back pocket. He handed the man the money and stood next to Yami. The taller giggled, "Yami win for Yugi," he said, aiming the first baseball. After a few seconds, he threw the ball, knocking all the bottles off the stand. "Yami win!" he squealed.

The purple and white clad man gaped, "er...congradulations, sir!" He congradulated, shaking Yami's hand. "Now which of these prizes would you like?"

The taller spiky haired man stared down at the shorter, "which one Yugi want?"

Yugi blinked, staring at the various stuffed animals, "um..." he bit his lip, "the puppy dog one is pretty cute."

Yami nodded, "red puppy!" he told the man, pointing to the said prize. The employee nodded, taking the stuffed animal off the shelf and handing it to Yami. The red eyed man smiled and handed it to Yugi.

The painter took the prize, a blush spreading across his cheeks as Yami took his hand and led him away from the booth. "Uh...th-thank you, Yami."

Yami smiled, giggling as he swung their adjoined hands back and forth, "Yami happy Yugi happy." He looked around, "where go now?"

Yugi looked around, grinning as he spotted the ferris wheel, "how bout we go on that one?" he asked.

Yami looked at the ferris wheel and smiled, nodding, "okay!" He raced toward th ride, pulling Yugi with him.

They got in line and the shorter took the tickets out of his pocket, handing them to the carnie who grinned and tipped his had at him. Yugi ignored him and got onto the cart after Yami who immediately grabbed his hands and rested his head on the shorter's shoulder, snuggling close to them as the ride began to move. He looked over the edge, chuckling as he noticed Kaiba Corp. in the distance. Closing his eyes, Yugimade himself comfortable.

Yami peeked an eye open, looking over the edge of their cart as the wheel stopped to let more passangers on. He shuddered, noticing how high off the ground they were. He hid is face in Yugi's neck, whimpering. Yugi looked down at him, bringing and arm around his waist, "Yami what's wrong?" he questioned.

The taller shivered again, and pulled away, revealing scared crimson orbs. He pointed down, "h-high," he whispered.

"Oh," Yugi laughed, "you don't like heights?" The other shook his head and hid it in the petite man's neck again. Yugi bit his lip, patting the taller's back, "there, there. Don't worry, Yami, it's just a ride. You can't get hurt up here."

"Yugi sure?" Yami asked, staring up at him. The shorter nodded and he smiled, hugging him tighter, "Yami believe Yugi." The ride began moving once more and the taller giggled, watching the lights of the ride blink and turn many different colors. He smiled in fascination, "Yami never see at complex."

"What do you mean?" Yugi questioned, raising an eyebrow.

Yami looked at him, blinking his eyes a few times at the question, "at Complex...Yami never out of cell...always in dark. Never see lights...never see...only black...only dark and lonely." He looked down almost sadly, "no bright." He sighed, "no sk

The painter gazed at the other sympathetically, "do you like the sky, Yami?"

The taller nodded, smiling, "sky is big and bright. It alway pretty...and free. Sky is free...Yami wished he be free at Complex. Yugi came, Yugi free Yami." he giggled, "now Yami see sky alway!"

Yugi looked away, not thinking he could stand looking at the taller right now. Not when he had so much...and Yami had nothing. He had always thought of himself as not well off, not good enough. But, in reality, he had never counted all of his blessings. The young painter had a wonderful past, and an even brighter future ahead of him. He had Seto and Mokuba...his family. What did Yami have? He had nothing to be proud of...nothing to smile about. His whole life he had been locked in a dark room with no friends. He'd been taken from his own family after he was born. And yet...Yami was probably the happiest person Yugi knew right now.

"Yugi," Yami began, looking down at the smaller. When amethyst orbs turned upwards, he smiled, "Yami be with Yugi alway...right?" he asked. "Yugi never leave Yami, right?"

The shorter looked down. He didn't know the answer to that. He didn't know what the future had in store for either of them. But...if he had control of it, he would always want Yami by his side. He loved Yami like a brother...and maybe more than that now. He looked back up, smiling sadly, "of-of course I'll always be with you. I wouldn't leave you for anything, Yami."

Yami grinned, glowing with happiness as he hugged Yugi tightly. "Yugi Yami every'ing," he whispered.

Yugi gasped, his face burried in the cotton T-shirt covering the other's chest. He didn't know what to say. For one of the first times in his life, he was speachless. He was Yami's everything...he was the taller's world. He was all Yami had. What could he possibly say to that?

Yami took Yugi's hand in his own and helf it over his heart. He smiled, scarlet orbs gazing fondly into lilac pools, "it beat for Yugi," he explained.

Once again, Yugi was at a loss for words. He wra his his fingers around Yami's and moved his head so that his ear rested over the other's heart. He listened to the strong heartbeat for a few minutes, a few tears making their way slowly down his cheeks. He sniffed.

The taller of the two looked down, seeing the tear drops splash down Yugi's face. He used his free hand to wipe the liquid away. Smiling, he turned Yugi's chin up so he could face him directly, "Yugi sad?" he asked.

"Oh no, Yami," Yugi whispered, hiding his face again, "in truth, I am very happy. That is why I'm crying," he answered.

The two sat in silence the rest of the ride. Once their cart stopped at the bottom, they both got off and headed towards a food stand. Yami walked quietly while Yugi talked about how he was hungry. He stopped when he noticed a band playing soft music and a few people dancing slowly to it. Tugging on Yugi's arm to draw the shorter's attention, he pointed to the group of dancing couples.

Yugi blushed. Yami wanted to dance with him? "Yami, no, I can't dance," he replied. He was the biggest klutz on the dance floor.

Yami turned sad eyes on him, "please?" he asked.

The shorter bit his lip, "fine...but if I end up stepping on your feet, just know I gave you fair warning."

The crimson eyed man laughed and pulled Yugi in the direction of the dancers. He looked around and copied the position the others were in; placing Yugi's arms around his neck and his own arms around Yugi's waist. Smiling he began to sway back and forth like the other people were doing. Yugi sighed, resting his head on Yami's chest and pressing his body closer to the tallers. Yami was so warm...his arms were so comforting. The taller smiled, is thumbs rubbing Yugi's sides gently. "Yugi dance good."

The shorter's cheeks turned even more read, "you do too, Yami." He closed his eyes, nuzzling Yami's chest lightly. He felt Yami place his head on top of his, rubbing his cheek against his hair. He sighed. Why did this feel so right? Why were Yami's arms so warm around him? Why did it feel as though the rest of the world would melt away when the other just looked at him.

Yami began humming again to the tune of the song. His hand had slipped under the blue leather shirt the shorter wore and gently caressed the skin underneath. He giggled as Yugi pressed himself closer to him. "Yami like dance."

Yugi smiled, looking up into Yami's blood-like eyes. "I do too," he whispered. He lowered his hands to Yami's shoulders and pushed himself up slightly, giving Yami a gentle peck on the lips. Pulling away after a second, he blushed again. //Oh god, what made me do that?// he woed. ed.

The taller male's breath caught in his throat as Yugi's lips momentarily covered his. He closed his eyes and smiled, "Why Yugi do?" he breathed the question out.

"I-I don't know why I did that, Yami. I'm...I'm sorry."

Yami looked down, "Yami like. Yugi do again?" he questioned, blinking. Yugi shook his head. He wanted to, but he couldn't. Yami looked crestfallen. "Yami do?" Before Yugi could answer, Yami's lips were covering his in a gentle kiss. It was softer than the one yesterday...more timid and hesitant.
Yugi gasped, his eyes closed. //No...this can't be happening again! He can't like me like that...I'm engaged!// Yami's arms tightened around him as he pulled away. He sighed and rested his head on Yami's chest again. He just meeded a minute to not think about anything. He exhaled heavily, clearing his mind. Once the song ended and a faster one began, he pulled out of their embrace, "we should go home, Yami. It's late and Seto is probably--" he stopped in mid-sentance. "Oh my god!"

"What wrong?" Yami questioned.

Yugi panicked, slapping himself on the forehead, "Oh no...Seto...I completely forgot!"

"What forget, Yugi?"

Yugi took Yami's hand and ran off the dance floor, headed for the pag log lot. "The Kaiba Corp. banquet! It started at seven...and now its," he paused and looked at his watch, "nine! Oh gods...he's going to hate me! I was supposed to go!"

Yami stopped, turning Yugi around, "Seto no angry. Just tell truth."

"The truth will make him hate me even more." Yugi sighed, "let's go I have to take you home now!" He led them into the parking lot. Yami's eyes were teary as he apologized. "It isn't your fault. I was supposed to take you home by five so I could take a shower and get dressed in time." He took out his cellphone and quickly called the Kaiba mansion, demanding a limo be sent to pick them up.

About a half an hour later, the limousine pulled up. Yugi pushed Yami into the car and got in behind him. He turned to the chauffer, "take me to the house quickly!"

"M-Master Yugi...you're supposed to be at the banquet!"

Yugi sighed, "don't remind me, Ryozi. I lost track of time."

The chauffer apologized and turned back towards the wheel. He pulled out of the parking lot and sped down the road, racing towards the Kaiba home.

Yami sat next to Yugi, tears in his eyes, "Yami sorry, Yami sorry. Yugi mad at Yami? Yami fault...Yami sorry," he blued oed out all at once, taking Yugi's hands in his own, "please no be mad! Yami sorry..."

Yugi shook his head, wrapping his arms around Yami, "hush, shh...I'm not mad at you." He smiled and the other on the cheek, "I'm mad at myself. Don't worry about it." The taller nodded with a small smile.

After a half hour drive, they finally arrived at the mansion. Yugi raced out of the car and into the house, heading for the shower first.

Yami trudged into the house sadly after him. He walked up to his room and flomped ungracefully onto the bed. After a total of ten minutes, Yugi raced into his room, dressed in a nice outfit and looking very handsome indeed. He ran over and hugged Yami, "I have to go, see you later!" He said hurriedly, kissing him on the forehead before dashing back out the door. Yami watched him run out with saddened eyes, "g-goobye," he whispered.

~~~
Yugi rushed down the hallway of the small hall Seto rented for the banquet. "Crud, it's probably already over." He said to himself, opening the door to the correct room and seeing the lights off. //Oh no...did I really miss it?// He flicked on the lights and looked around, spotting Seto sitting alone at one of the large round tables. Yugi walked towards him, "Seto," he whispered, sincere apology in his voice.
The brunette looked up, blue eyes cold, "glad you decided to show up, Yugi," he snapped.
The painter stopped in his tracks as the icy tone pierced through him.kingking his head, he ran over to the taller, "Seto...I am _so_ sorry!" he cried out. He took Seto's hands, "I lost track of time...I totally forgot about the banquet."
"Obviously," the CEO snorted. "You were having too much of a good time with _Yami_" he spat the name out.
Tears prung to Yugi's eyes, "that's not it! Yes, we were having fun but..." He stopped and hung his head, "I didn't intentionally miss this! You know I wanted to come."
"Your actions prove otherwise."
"Seto, please listen to me! This was an accident." He blinked away his tears, "please don't be angry with me..." He paused and forced a laugh out, "I-I'm sure this is just something...just something we'll laugh about sometime soon, trust me," he said.
Seto sighed, standing up and freeing his hands from Yugi's. He turned his back from the shorter, "I...I did trust you, Yugi," he whispered, walking towards the door.
"Seto!" Yugi yelled, tears falling freely from his eyes, "Seto please don't walk away like this!" He ran over to the brunette, wrapping his arms around the taller from behind.
The CEO's body stiffined slightly. His eyes narrowed, "I want Yami to leave."
"P-pardon?"
The brunette growled, whirling around, "he isn't welcome in my house anymore!" Sighing, he glared into amethyst orbs, "can't you see that he's changed you? He's changed our relationship! He is all you seem to care about now!\ Yug Yugi shook his head, "no...that's not true," he cried. "I care about you still...I love you, Seto."
"Well if you do, you should try and show it more often," Seto snarled, throwing Yugi's arms off of him and stalking towards the exit. He stopped for a moment, "I tracked down his parents this morning. I called Pegasus to find out their last name." He smirked, facing Yugi, "they are coming for him in one week."
The shorter shook his head, "no! No, you can't make him leave!" His small body shook with sobs, "no...he can't go. Yami...I don't want him to leave me.."
Seto looked down. He knew the truth. He knew Yugi felt more than just a brotherly affection towards Yami. He knew that his fiancé had fallen in love with the taller male, even if Yugi himself did not know that. And, in truth, the brunette was jealous of Yami. He didn't want some mentally disabled psycho stealing his only love away from him, which was one of his motivations of tracking down Mr. and Mrs. Hassan*, Yami's true parents. Closing his eyes, he turned back around and left Yugi behind him.
Yugi brought a hand up to cover his mouth. He felt as though he was going to be sick. //This is all my fault...Seto hates me...and he's making Yami leave.// He let out a sob, falling to his knees, "and what's worse...is that that I think I have fallen in love with Yami," he finished aloud.
