Part Seven

"So what did you and litte Yugi come up with?" Otogi got to finish his question from earlier.

"We should leave them be." The Other Yugi answered, with hardly an expression.

"What?! Pharaoh?! Kaiba..."

"Kaiba-kun won't do anything."

Otogi was getting fustrated. He couldn't believe they were all just going to let Honda continue to fall for Kaiba's tricks; whatever they may be.

"I can't believe this! How can you all be so sure it wasn't Kaiba who hit him?!"

"How can you be so sure it was, Otogi-chan"

"Shizuka's right," Jounouchi agreed, "Besides, how's it any different than when we get into it and I hit him or he hits me?"

Otogi had to think about this, but before he could say anything, little Yugi appeared.

"Honda-kun's always been there for us, it's time we do the same. If Kaiba-kun is being phony, I think Honda-kun will figure it out. He's not stupid."

"He's right," Anzu said, "And if you think about it, the more we object, the more defensive Honda gets..."

"True, but, have any of you noticed how Honda treats Kaiba?" Mai asked, nudging Jounouchi.

"Yea, like when I tried to apologize and Kaiba tried to stop me, Honda hurt him!"

"Right, Kaiba-san even cried 'Ow'." Shizuka said softly.

"Honda did get a little nasty with him..." Otogi confessed to noticing.

"Remember how Kaiba-kun was after Honda-kun shushed him?"

"Pretty docile... not Kaiba-like at all." Anzu said.

"Like a punished child." Shizuka agreed.

After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, Mai finally piped up.

"Know what this means?" she asked slyly, nudging the other girls.

"Honda's the seme!" the girls exclaimed.

*sweat drop*, "What?!" *blink, blink*

Otogi was the first to shake it off.

Damned girls!, "So guess this means we should keep an eye on Honda then..."

"No. We're going to do as the Other Yugi said and leave them be." Jounouchi demanded. He hated to do it, but he did have to keep in the back of his mind he did this. He hooked them up, this was, in a way, his responsibility.

"Right." the others agreed to Jounouchi's relief.

"Hey, didn't Kaiba say Honda was taking him to his place?" Anzu asked.

"Really?!" Mai and Shizuka seemed very interested in this.

"Yea! You wanna call them?!" Jounouchi went for the phone only to have it painfully smacked away by Mai.

"No," she laughed as he rubbed and kissed his sore hand, He's so kawaii!, "We'll get him tomorrow about it!"

"I wanna know noooowwww!" Otogi jokingly whined and went for the phone causing a free for all that ripped the cord right from the wall. It ricoched back and hit a display; breaking the glass and most of the models inside.

"Ahhhhhhh, ssssshiiiiiittttt!" Yugi exclaimed in terror, "Ojiisan is going to kill me!"

*collective sweat drop*

After about fifteen minutes, Kaiba "relaxed" enough to take a seat back on the couch; far away from Honda.

He kept his hands folded in his lap, and his eyes well hidden under his bangs.

Honda fidgeted. He couldn't even look at Kaiba let alone speak to him.

His parents had been locked in their room for at least half an hour.

Kaiba was getting nervous and began fidgeting himself. He couldn't take the silence any longer.

"Are you angry?" he asked meekly.

"No." was all Honda could say, still unable to look at him.

Kaiba waited for anything more, when it didn't happen, he tried again hoping to get Honda to speak this time.

"Think they are angry?"

Honda sighed and simply answered "No." again.

"Think they are waiting for me to leave?"

"No." from Honda's tone, even from that one little word, Kaiba could tell he was getting fustrated, but then, so was he. These one-word answers were making him more nervous than ever.

"Think they will ask me to leave?"

"NO!" he burst, causing Kaiba, and himself, to jump.

Kaiba returned his gaze back to his folded hands.

"Ugh, Seto... sorry." he sighed, getting up to go to the kitchen, "Want anything?" Kaiba simply shook his head.

Honda wanted so badly to grab him up into his arms and let him know things would be alright, but how could he when he didn't even know.

He looked and listened for any sign of life from upstairs. Once he was sure it was safe, he sat next to Kaiba and took him into his arms.

"It's going to be fine." he tried to at least sound sure.

He took Kaiba by the chin and forced him to look up. He went for a kiss when the phone rang, startling them to opposite ends of the couch.

Who the hell..., Honda wondered, If it's who I think it is I'll kill them!, "Hello."

Kaiba sat back and tried to relax again, until Honda's comment turned his stomach.

"I'm alright... as good as one gets when their dad just walked in on them making out with their boyfriend..."

Kaiba felt his heart jump into his throat. He swallowed hard to try and keep it down.

Who the hell is he talking to?! he listened closer; at least Honda was laughing.

"Yea, you know how dad gets..."

Brother? Sister?

"Must be his sister." came from behind.

He quickly jumped, turned and bowed in what seemed like one swift motion.

"Sorry, Honda-san. I didn't hear you..."

"It's alright. You don't have to do that." he took him by the shoulder and offered him his seat back on the couch.

Honda's mother smiled and patted him on the head as she made her way toward the phone to speak with her daughter.

He wasn't sure what to think at first of the "head-patting", it almost seemed demeaning, but oddly, it also felt very comforting.

"I'm sorry." Honda-san said as he took a seat in his chair.

"F-for what?"

"My reaction, it was uncalled for..."

"No, you have every right to..."

"No. I was wrong. You know, it had nothing to do with the fact you two are, well... it more had to do with me getting embarassed."

"I-I... sorry..."

"I told Hiroto I'm fine with this and I'll stick to that. Even if you two had been a, I don't want to say normal, that's not right..."

"I understand."

"I had the same reaction walking in on my daughter and her husband! All they were doing was kissing!" he laughed.

"So, that is Hiroto's sister? He never..."

"I'm not surprised. They do get along a lot better since she moved out, but, I still don't think they are their favorite people."

"I'm sorry."

"Sibling rivalry, what can you do, huh?"

"I couldn't imagine what my life would have been like without my brother..."

"S-so, dad?" Honda had been standing in the doorway of the kitchen listening, "You two..."

"We're fine. I guess since that's your sister your mother may be a while, so take a seat!"

"Y-yea..." Honda stammered.

"Good! Ok, so... what changed your minds about eachother? And in such a dramatic way too!"

"Wh-what?!" Honda wanted nothing more than to crawl into a hole and die twice. This was going to be a no-holds-barred visit.

Kaiba tried to come up with something. He didn't want to embarrass Honda, or himself for that matter!

"I-I never had any ill feelings toward Hiroto really."

"Ok, Hiroto?"

Ah, shit! Let me die already!, he didn't want to answer. It was bad enough his dad walked in on them and saw it, to hear it was that that changed his mind, "It's just... I..."

"I kissed him."

"Must be one hell of a kisser!" he laughed.

Ugh, let me die let me die... Honda side glanced Kaiba, who was looking as innocent as he could, trying not to laugh, I can't believe you!

Kaiba could feel Honda's eyes and irritation and backed down.

"So, do you two..."

"Honey," Honda's mother interrupted, hoping to catch any real embarrassing questions before they begin, "That was..."

"I know. So anyway, guys..."

"She said to tell you 'Hi'..."

"Ok, 'Hi.' Now..." he tried again, only to be interrupted again.

It was like a tennis match to the boys; everytime Honda-san said something, his wife was on the other end stopping it.

"She said the kids are sick..."

"Sorry. Ok boys, now..."

"Kids have this nasty..."

"What is going on?!"

"N-nothing! Right boys?!" they just looked at eachother and shrugged. This was mildly entertaining, not to mention, it did keep any embarrassing questions at bey.

"You keep cutting me off and changing the subject! Why?!"

"N-no reason! Sorry..."

"Good, now... do you guys hang out at school together, or how does that work?" he asked quickly before she could interrupt again.

"O-oh!" *sweat drop* she collapsed into the nearest chair to breath. Her husband rolled his eyes at her.

"Sometimes." Honda answered first this time, still eyeing Kaiba.

"W-we only have one class together..." he answered sheepishly, trying not to make eye contact with Honda."

"Ah, how do the other kids take it?"

"Why all the questions, dad?!" he was getting irritated. He just wanted a quick "Hi, this is..." type of introduction, but instead he got a whole evening of embarrassing questions.

"Concider your history; I, along with many other people I'm sure, had this impression you two hated eachother..."

"?!"

"Not to mention you two are so open about it..."

"They're fine, dad."

"Ok. Settle down. Now, one last question, if I may?" he went between Honda and his mother, eyeing them both, "Do you two..."

"Dear, I think..."

"Aha!" he lept from his chair and landed right in front of her, pointing an accusing finger inches from her nose.

"Wh-what?!" she jumped.

"Honestly woman! You think all I thought they were going to do on their little "sleep-over" was play "Truth-or-Dare" and have pillow fights?!" he laughed so hard he nearly fell into her lap.

The boys could feel their faces melting and tried to dissapear into the couch.

Shit, shit, shit!! Dad!! Moron!!

"A-any way, Seto..." Honda's mother wracked her brain for anything unintrusive, "Um... how old is your brother?", That's all I can come up with?!

"Twelve..."

"How's he taking this?" Yup, no-holds-barred.

"Uh, well... he's fine..." he looked to Honda for help.

"So long as Seto is happy, he's happy for him. Next question?"

"I remember when you two were adopted by Kaiba Gazabouro. What happened to your parents? That is, if I may ask, again?" he snipped, again eyeing his son.

"Shit, dad..." he said under his breath.

"I-it's ok, Hiroto-ch... Hiroto. My mother died while giving birth to Mokuba. Our father died a few years later in an accident."

"I'm sorry." Honda's mother felt the need to apologize for her husband's abruptness.

"It's alright." to Honda's surprise, Kaiba, as best he could, kept a smile the whole time.

He really should do that more often. He's so pretty when he smiles.

"Mokuba and I are just fine."

"So it's just you two then?"

"No, not really... too long a story..."

"You mean 'ojiisan'?" It took a minute for Honda to realize what he had done, Shit! Here we go with the twenty questions again! Gomen nasai, Seto-chan!

"Ojiisan? So you do have relatives?"

"He... he doesn't know I know."

"Come again?" Honda's father seemed a little lost. He still had the idea of their "sleep-over" haunting him, Why why?! Moron! Why did I have to ask?!

Kaiba knew one day he would have to tell someone. It's only been just now that he has found people he can trust.

"He showed up not too long after we were so publicly adopted..."

"How could you not know? You were old enough..." she seemed more concerned than curious; a motherly trait Kaiba found reassuring.

"I never knew my father's father. I only ever saw a picture once."

"..."

"I found a picture of my father when he was about my age. He was with and older man; similar smile and eyes..."

"Did you ask your father about it?"

"Hmph. All I got was punished for going into his desk, but, I did get a good look at it before he took it. So when this man showed up; same smile and eyes, I knew."

"I see. So when you were adopted, he must have seen you on tv and saw his chance to meet his son's sons." Honda's father was begining to back down; even soften up. He was feeling badly about everything, but one thing still got him, "How did you boys come to call him "ojiisan"?"

"When Gazabouro introduced us, the first thing I said was, 'He lookes like the man in the picture I told you about, Mokuba. He looks like our ojiisan.' He just smiled, this huge soft smile; my father's smile. Before I got a chance to say anything else, Gazabouro started in on him about it; he said he did have grandchildren , but, he lost them, and his child... playing the prounoun game. He said 'If these boys want to call me ojiisan... to hear it would mean a lot to this old heart....', so we've called him ojiisan ever since..."

"Mokuba ever get to see the picture?"

"No. And after the way Gazabouro pounced on him about it, I never said anything more about it."

Kaiba kept his smile and even an upbeat attitude. He didn't want this to be a downer meeting. He came to like Honda's parents right down to their quirkiness.

They obviously cared very much about their son; his Hiroto-chan. They were something he only wished he could have given Mokuba... and himself.

The rest of the evening went a little smoother.

Honda was impressed by what he misstook for Kaiba's patients. As it turned out, he was genuinely enjoying their company.

"I don't want to spoil this, but..."

"Then don't, dad!"

"Ah, shut up! Anyway, you're nothing like what I expected!"

"Dad!" *sweat drop*

Kaiba just smiled. He knew exactly what he meant.

"Sorry, but, he isn't! You always..."

"I know! I know! Gomen, Seto! I..."

"I understand."

"I just didn't know you... the real you anyway..."

"It's alright, Hiroto! Look, it's getting late. You should probably get me back to the office. I'm sure I have a lot of catching up to do for the day."

"You're very busy with that place aren't you?" Again, her tone took on the concerned mother Kaiba began to charish about her.

"Yes. I'm sorry. This was very nice of you. Thank you."

Oh, man! Oh, man! No one will believe me in a thousand years Kaiba survived my parents! Put up with them even!, "Ok. Guess we should get going then..."

Honda's father shook his hand, his mother grabbed him up into a huge motherly hug.

His first reaction was to push the crazy lady off, but instead, again, it was warm and reassuring. Everything he remembered of his own mother, so returned the hug.

Honda waited for them to go back inside before praising his Seto-chan on his patients.

"I'm proud of you. You put up with a lot..."

"'Put up with'? I wouldn't say that..."

"They're so nosey sometimes..."

"They care. I would be curious too if my child fell in love with someone they hated."

"I never hated... never mind. Let's go..."

"They just want to make sure you are happy."

"I know. Sorry."

From inside, his parents watched the lovers speed off.

"Well," his mother started, "We can look at this one of two ways..."

"Oh? One?"

"One; he's made a very, very, very... very good friend."

"I hate to think... two?"

"Two; he's happy. Let it go."
