I Never Knew
Seto Plushie: It looks like it's just me posting. Jams got a review
from someone who shall remain nameless that she was a Mary-Sue so she's
locked herself in the bathroom. Luckily she wrote this before she read
that review. Mutt and that little imp, Yugi, are trying to get her to
emerge, but I don't see that happening for a while. So I'm the one
typing this up and answering some reviewers' questions. Shadow Cat- It is an AU it iit isn't at the same time. Don't ask me
what Jams meant by that, I have no idea!
Jei- Jams said that her side comments help her express herself.
::shrug::
SethGodOfWind- Jams said she's glad you liked it and she really likes
your story "Shards of a Shattered Life" She said the poem was a stroke
of genius.
Jou-Pup- Yes Jams got thea fra from the Sailor Moon Hearts In Ice
movie. She said it was "uber cute, but I perfer Promise of the Rose."
and that she could just picture me saying the "ice cream cone" line. I
told her "Not on your life!"
Dragon and Yami Dragon- Jams and Yugi said Yami Dragon gets no more
sugar because we seem to get free cattle (Yami Dragon has a cow) when
she's sugar high. And you'll just have to wait on the citris, but Jams
has threatened not to write one after the Mary-Sue comment. Don't
worry, the pup will talk her out of that. And she said she's not
dissing Tristan. She thinks he reminds her of Brock. Says the poor
guy's never going to get laid. And if she goes out with him it will
make her a Mary-Sue.
RavenWings- The sugar free cookies are for Yami Dragon, not you! And
don't hug or kiss me anymore!
Anyway the same disclaimer applies, of course. So deal with it! If I'm
not mistaken, this chapter is, as Yugi puts it, "Fluffy like 3
Musketeers." meaning I'm in for some torture. I'm beginning to think
fluff is all Jams can write, but she may prove us all wrong yet. Also
there are a few lines from a song in this chapter. None of us can
remember the name of it or who sings it.... Or even the story it came
from, but we want to give credit where it's due. Well I'm beat. That's
the most I've ever had to say in the opening A/N. On to the story.

Chapter 5
I Never Knew
Seto was getting a bit concerned. Joey had been avoiding him, shooting
him hurt or angered looks throughout the day. At the last bell, the
blonde walked out the door, putting Jams between the two of them,
unbeknownest to the young lady. the glare Seto recieved at the moment
almost screamed, 'I dare you to follow me.' The brunette decided it
best to give joey some time to cool down, even if it meant staying
'grounded' for the next few days.
So for the rest of the week, Seto threw himself head first into his
work, ignoring the puppy and his friends. The exception was Jams, who
would give him a civil "Hello" when they passed in the hall.
Onday,day, the CEO decided to persue the blonde, and he found him
napping beneath the same tree where the two had first 'taken flight'
nearly a week before.
"Hey, Pup," he said casually, "I figured I'd find you snoozing here.
Joey cracked an eye open.
"I'm not really in the mood for insults today, Kaiba."
"I'm not here to insult you. Do you mind if I sit down?" he asked.
"Sure, go ahead," was the reply, "s a s a free country."
Seto didn't like the blondes tone, but sat down next to him anyway.
"Tell me what I've done that has you so angry with me, Pup."
"Well, calling me 'Pup' for one thing," Joey said angrily.
Seto smirked a bit, "consider it more of a pet name instead of an
insult.
At that, Joey's gaze softened a bit, then his eyes narrowed again.
"You don't seem to want to take love seriously. You don't take me
seriously it seems," he continued, "Those comments you said back in the
classroom that day."
The brunette sighed.
"I was always told that love wasn't worth feeling. I've never really
known true love before. Maybe Taylor's right. I AM a stick in the mud."
"But you're so clean!" Joey said with a grin. The blonde seemed to have
forgiven him already.
Seto gave a small, light hearted laugh, a genuine laugh, something he
had not done in years.
"Disagreeing with me when I put myself down."
"Jams insists I do it for her, so why not?"
They laughed again, then fell into a comfortable silence. Joey yawned
and closed his eyes, leaning on Seto's shoulder with a sigh. They sat
like that for a long time until the faint sounds of light snoring
reached the brunette's ears. It appeared that the pup had fallen
asleep.
Seto situated the two of them carefully so the blonde's head was
resting on his lap.
'When he does fall asleep, he looks like a sweet little child....'
The CEO brushed a few stray loks from Joey's forehead beg began to sing
the only lines he remembered from a song he had heard as a child.
"Surely everyone wants to hold forever in their hand
Don't worry if I act like I don't care
You know I love you
Let's escape the endless darkness
Hold your hand..."
He ran a finger over the blonde's plush lips, eliciting a soft sigh
from the sleeping boy.
'What's come over me? I've never felt this way before. Could this be
what love feels like?'
It was getting dark, and Seto didn't want to leave Joey behind. He
called for a limo to meet them, and then scooped the blonde up,
cradling him gently in his arms.
The ride to the Kaiba mansion was a short one, and when they arrived,
Seto carried the pup up to his room.
Mokuba was sitting on the brunette's bed reading an encylopedia. He
looked up when the door opened, revealing the elder Kaiba with one
Jou-pup in his arms. (Seto Plushie: Insert Jams' Jou-pup comment here.
::smirk::)
"Follow you home, Seto?" the younger asked with a grin.
Seto smiled and set Joey on the bed, the turned to ruffle his little
brother's hair.
When the CEO sat, Mokuba bounded into his lap.
"I looked up 'ohana' today."
The two had a game they would play. Seto would think of a word in
another language and Mokuba would look up the meaning.
"And?"
"It's Hawaiian for 'family'," the shorter beamed, "We're an ohana
aren't we, Set
"Yes," Seto agreed, "but now it's time for this ohana to go to bed."
"Can I sleep in here?"
"Of course you can little brother." (Seto Plushie: Get your minds out
of the gutter right now! I do NOT have sex with my little brother!
::huffs::)
Mokuba grinned and curled up next to Joey. Seto flipped off the bedside
lamp, kicked off his shoes, and laid down, pulling the covers over the
three of them.
"Night, Seto."
"Goodnight, Mokuba."
'Goddnight. my dear Pup. I hope you sleep well and dream of dragons.'
And soon Seto joined Joey in that place where dreams are made.
