Relations grow

Jou was startled awake by voices, he jumped sitting upright in the bed, noticing that it was Mokuba talking with Kaiba.

Mokuba smiled, “Hi”

Jou rolled his eyes before falling back down to the bed, he wasn’t sure why the talking had startled him so much, but the sudden jump made Jou’s head hurt. Kaiba felt Jou’s head with the back of his hand, checking if he was still feverish, but moved it seconds later. Jou took a few breaths before slowly sitting up again to talk to the brothers.

Kaiba was looking forward to his laptop ignoring the gaze from Jou. Jou ignored Kaiba and went to look at Mokuba, “Hi,” he responded still groggy.

Mokuba laughed before talking with Jou, ”You feeling better? Seto was saying how he was being forced to watch over you.”

Jou scowled at Kaiba before setting the story straight, “More like he wouldn’t let me leave. I was trying to get to class…” He trailed off to another thought, “Don’t you have school?” He questioned to Mokuba.

“Of course, but I don’t think you know how late it is…” Mokuba looked at Jou skeptically, “It’s about 4:30, school got out a while ago.”

Jou looked around for the clock he’d seen earlier, disappointed when he found out Mokuba was right. Jou groaned as he rubbed his eyes, opening them up to see something in his face. There was a tray holding a sandwich, Mokuba offered up the sandwich to Jou giving off a small smirk reminiscent of his older brother. “Seto’s always hungry by now, although I was surprised to find he was in his room rather than his office.” Mokuba explained as Jou unsurely took the sandwich. He mumbled thanks, cheeks tinged in pink realizing that Mokuba was hinting about his older brother having to force Jou to sleep by watching over him.

“Pup, maybe you should sleep more,” Kaiba said not looking up from his screen. Jou looked at Kaiba weirded out by the name he was called, but stayed silent as he finished the sandwich. Mokuba laughed as he picked up the tray and headed out of the bedroom. Kaiba stayed typing unphased by the laughing, but did notice Jou fidgeting next to him.

“What’s wrong?” Kaiba asked after he stopped typing.

“Nothing,” Jou said as he sat there doing literally nothing.

“I meant it when I said you should sleep more,” Kaiba said returning to typing as if what he said finished the conversation.

“I’m not Mokuba… and I’m not tired,” Jou pouted.

“When did I say anything about Mokuba,” Kaiba questioned.

“It’s mostly the way you’re treating me.” Jou replied, “You’re either too nice or you’re trying to take care of me, it’s creeping me out. It’s the way you act to Mokuba.”

“What am I supposed to do then?” Kaiba asked, “Am I supposed to have let you continue hurting yourself?”

Jou stopped not really knowing how to answer, he wanted to say that yes, that Kaiba should have left him alone, but that would also admit that Jou wouldn’t have taken care of himself. “Not exactly I just don’t want to be treated like a child,” Jou pouted again, lowering himself closer to the bed.

Kaiba chuckled slightly, “First off I don’t treat Mokuba like a child, so if you really feel that way it means you’re more of a child then him. Second, I’m just trying to make it so you can go home sooner.” Kaiba looked at Jou who seemed to be frustrated with Kaiba’s answer, it wasn’t quite what he wanted. Jou almost felt as he needed a good verbal fight, with all that had been going on recently.

“Fine, but I really do mean it that I can’t sleep anymore,” Jou said, trying to indicate he was bored.

Kaiba rolled his eyes, but still took his time to put down his laptop and pull Jou towards him and the edge of the bed.

“You want to be carried princess style or over my shoulder,” Kaiba smirking, knowing Jou wouldn’t enjoy either.

Jou growled, “Princess, I guess…” Kaiba slipped his hands under Jou’s back and knees, before hoisting him up to be carried. Kaiba knew where he was going, but to Jou it seemed more like he was wandering. They came across a room where there was noise coming from the slightly ajar door. Kaiba turned to open it with his back before turning into the room with Jou.

When entering the room Jou saw Mokuba sitting on the ground playing video games on his television. Kaiba slowly put Jou’s feet on the floor while still holding him up. Mokuba turned around surprised to see his brother away from the computer.

“All finished with your homework, Mokuba?” Kaiba asked. Mokuba nodded, “On the desk,” he said going back to his game. Kaiba tried to make sure Jou was stable before he move to check the work. Jou watched the smaller boy fight his way through mobs of monsters on the television, wondering why they came here.

“Ok, it looks good. Would you be able to play some games with Jou?” Kaiba asked his younger brother.

“Sure” Mokuba said, his eyes lighting up. Kaiba smiled before he grabbed a chair for Jou from the desk. He rolled it over easing Jou into the chair. He left the two sitting there dazed out on the TV.

“It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to play video games with anyone,” Mokuba said as he switched games, “Seto’s always too busy working to play.” He plugged in a second controller and handed it to Jou. Jou smiled and started playing with Mokuba.

They shuffled through a few fighting games and even a racing game, joking with each other as they continued. Jou eventually let Mokuba play another single player, saying he’d rather just watch for a bit. He found it fun watching Mokuba, having only ever watched Yugi playing games, it was interesting to see a different playing style. As Jou continued to watch he felt himself dosing off.

Jou felt someone pick him up out of the chair he had fallen asleep in. He shuffled slightly in the arms, curling towards their chest. Kaiba looked down to Jou in his arms, smiling at the cute boy. Jou was starting to wake up with the slight up and down with every step that was taken. He pulled his hand to his face as he started rubbing his eyes, before opening them to see what was going on. Kaiba was holding him, walking down the hallway with Mokuba following behind.

“Where are we going?” Jou questioned, wanting to know without shuffling too much in Kaiba’s arms.

“Mokuba and I were going to go eat, and I was going to let you rest. I’ll make sure to bring food back up for you.” Kaiba said as he turned about to go into his room.

“Big Brother, couldn’t Jou come eat with us?” Mokuba asked, “I’m sure he’d rather not be eating alone.” Kaiba turned to look at his brother behind him, unable to say no to his brother simply turned back down the hallway towards the stairs that awaited him. Mokuba smiled happily before following suit. The came down the stairs turning into the dinning room that was set for the two brothers.

Kaiba came to one of the chairs, nodding to Mokuba to pull out the chair. He then set Jou down before softly pushing the chair in. Jou looked up to Kaiba who was still next to him. “Thank you.” Jou was hoping that Kaiba would acknowledge him, so he didn’t feel so self conscious about having to be taken care of. Kaiba looked down to Jou smirking before he walked out of the room into what Jou guessed was the kitchen.

“Don’t feel bad,” Mokuba said as he walked to the opposite side of the table to sit down. “You know Seto, if he really wasn’t willing to do it he wouldn’t. Although I’m sure the ‘Thank you’ helps.” Mokuba smiled, silence filled the room, but it wasn’t the uncomfortable silence there had been in the past.

Kaiba came back in the room, holding a set of table settings which he placed in front of Jou. Kaiba silently sat down at the head of the table between Mokuba and Jou. Two butlers came out with meals for the three who were still sitting in silence.

“So Jou, what are you studying at college?” Mokuba asked breaking the silence, “Seto and I were curious after what you said the other weekend.”

Jou thought back to what he’d said, it wasn’t much, but apparently nobody had faith in him to go to college? It hurt a little because he wasn’t that bad in school except in maybe one subject. “Well actually I’ve been focusing on GE requirements for now, but I’m looking towards doing something similar to social work.”

Both brothers were intrigued by what Jou said as they looked at him ready to hear more. “That sounds interesting, why’d you choose that?” Mokuba said as he stopped eating to hear more.

Jou smiled, surprised by how interested the brothers were to what he was talking about. “Well, I guess it’s got a lot to do with how Serenity and I weren’t able to see each other for so long. Making sure that parents don’t do that to their kids.” Jou thought about it for a bit, “Or even making sure that siblings in orphanages don’t get split up,” He finished motioning to the brothers, as what almost happened to them.

The brothers commended Jou for what he was planning for his future. The conversation slowed as they continued to eat. Jou was the first to finish, so he decided it was his turn to start the conversation up. “Well since you learned about my school life, what about yours Mokuba?” Jou questioned the younger boy.

Mokuba finished eating what was in his mouth before answering, “Well it’s just High School, nothing special is all I can say,” He joked. Kaiba looked at his younger brother disapproving of his attitude, not that he himself had a better one when he was the one stuck in High School. “Ok fine, It’s a little too easy most the time. I am a little tired of the teachers always expecting more of me just because I’m the younger brother of ‘the Seto Kaiba’.” Mokuba said attempting to be a bit more serious, but it came out still a bit jokingly.

The conversation continued on, mostly a back an forth of subjects being brought up between Jou and Mokuba. Kaiba would say something once in a while, but was mostly quiet. After they were done eating the conversation was moved to Kaiba’s room where Jou and Mokuba sat on the bed talking about the most random things. Kaiba sat nearby in a chair ending up working on his laptop, engrossed by it completely.

“So do you follow in your brothers footsteps, I mean as far as duel monsters goes? Any favorite cards that you can’t live without?” Jou joked. He still enjoyed teasing Kaiba about his blue-eyes white dragon obsession, but Mokuba had no real answer.

“I don’t play that much, so I haven’t really had a favorite card.” He said shrugging off the question.

Kaiba finally looked up from the laptop he was focused on, “Mokuba, bed time.” The two on the bed looked up to the clock seeing it was about 10:30 at night, not that late, but it wasn’t Jou’s place to decide what was a good time for Mokuba to go to bed. Mokuba just got up, about to head to his room before turning to talk to Jou, “Thanks for spending time with me!” Then he walked out of the door heading down the hall to his own room.

Kaiba stood up, “I’ll be right back,” He mumbled, as he left the room to say night to Mokuba.

It was a few minutes before Kaiba came back. He came in the room, closing the door before walking to Jou. “Would you like to take a bath?” He asked straight faced. Jou wasn’t sure what to think of this because of the way it was said, but again it was just Kaiba attempting to be nice. Jou nodded, waiting for Kaiba to pick him up, as he assumed would happen..

After Kaiba transported Jou to the bathroom he went to the bathtub to start the water. Kaiba took a big breath before silently helping Jou out of his shirt. Jou blushed, not really expecting Kaiba to help him in such a way. Before the awkwardness of needing help out of his shorts came about Jou shooed Kaiba to turn around. Jou stood near the tubs’ edge shimming down his shorts, he sat down on edge of the tub slipping the shorts off of his feet. He slowly pulled himself into the tub making sure to keep his still bandaged foot out of the water.

Kaiba turned around after hearing the splash of water, he looked at Jou to make sure there was nothing else. “Think you can take care of yourself?” Kaiba questioned, with a touch of his usual cynicism. Jou just nodded, he wasn’t bothered by what Kaiba had said, or how he’d said it. Even if he had been, it wasn’t really right for him to be fighting with Kaiba right now, after all Kaiba had done for him.

Jou sat in the bath for a bit not moving, noticing Kaiba go over to the shower and turn it on. Jou looked away as Kaiba undressed himself, entering the shower on his own. Jou busied himself by washing his hair, as to avoid looking at Kaiba in the glass shower… that happened to be right in his sight. It was hard to look away, the movement of Kaiba showering always drew it back, but Jou tried his best.

Jou studied Kaiba’s body, after he finally gave up on avoiding it. Kaiba, was thin, but still muscular, he had some very shapely assets, and wasn’t quite as tan as Jou was. Jou felt himself harden, glad he was under the water, but wasn’t quite sure how to take care of it. Kaiba turned off the water to the shower, slowly drying himself off before leaving the glass enclosed area. He walked over to Jou, before asking, “Are you ready to get out?” He questioned.

Jou nodded, “I can take care of it,” He said as he noticed Kaiba’s hand about to reach in to release the drain. Kaiba looked at him, curious at the instant reaction, but let it be. “I’ll be right back then,” He said as he left the room.

Jou sighed, as he worked to will down his erection. It was much easier to do with the naked Kaiba no longer in the room. Kaiba returned a few seconds later dressed in he sleepwear, holding on to some for Jou in his hands. He placed them down on the toilet cover while he grabbed a towel heading back for the tub. The water continued to drain away as Kaiba wrapped the towel around Jou’s wet hair to dry it. When he finished Jou’s hair was messier than normal and the slightly smaller boy was looking at Kaiba with a questioning face.

“Ok, fine. I might be treating you like Mokuba, now” Kaiba said almost willing his face into a smile. Jou laughed a little, but took the towel from Kaiba as he attempted to cover himself, regardless of still being seated. Kaiba picked Jou up completely sitting him down on the side of the tub.

Kaiba grabbed the shirt placing it over Jou’s head, and allowing Jou to do the rest himself. Kaiba picked up the boxer shorts handing them to Jou to deal with himself. Once Jou was dressed they headed to bed.

Neither had spoken much to the other that night, and they left it that way as they attempted to fall asleep. They slept on the bed backs to each other, covered just barely by the blankets as they slept at the opposite edges of the bed.

When Jou woke he found himself in Kaiba’s arms once again. Jou loved this feeling, he didn’t understand what it was, but he couldn’t resist it. He sat there held close by one hand around his waist, his face buried in Kaiba’s chest. It was just perfect.

Kaiba’s arm tightened around Jou’s waist, which Jou had learned was a sign of Kaiba waking up. Jou quickly went back to his sleeping position to pretend he wasn’t awake. He was hoping that maybe this would last a bit longer.

When Kaiba awoke, he looked down to Jou, whom seemed to still be sleeping. He took a moment to look at Jou, smiling as he looked at the sleeping face. Kaiba released his hand off of Jou’s waist, bringing it up to Jou’s face. He placed it on Jou’s cheek, softly thumbing the prominent cheek bone.

Kaiba sighed softly then bent, as he kissed Jou on the forehead. He then put his arm back around Jou and drifted back to sleep. Jou was shocked by what had just happened, but held it together as he waited for Kaiba to fall back asleep. His breathing was a little heavy til he calmed down and ignored the thoughts that were racing around in his head. Jou focused on Kaiba’s breathing and the heartbeat he could hear from being so close. Jou listened trying to go back to sleep before having to wake from this wonderful dream.

So I wanted to post this last night for you since, the last chapter wasn't really anything special, but I hadn't really had the chance to proofread most of it. I'm sure it's a little choppy, so I may come back to fix it.

Thanks for reading!
