Make Me New

Summary: It’s back! Another tale from the Kimi ga Iru Universe.
Disclaimer:
I do not own Yu-gi-oh. If I did…*begins to laugh evilly*
Warning: *laughs evilly*
Author’s Note:I’ve been waiting to write this particular chapter for a long time. To tell you the truth it was the scene I had built sort of the ending and transformation of Kimi ga Iru around.

I want you to know that this is by no means the “end” end as well...it’s only been five chapters and how fucked up would that be. But I do think I can be uber awful and not update after a while after this chapter. I mean, because, “A Place by the Fire” has it’s readers to and I have a duty to write that story as well, right?

*Wink* Let me know in review.

Yugi didn’t like the fact that Yami had been lurking around the house all week. It was really getting to him. Didn’t he have a life?

He sighed for about the millionth time and looked in the boy’s direction.

“Can I help you, Aibou?”

“What the fuck Yami, don’t you have a boyfriend!? It’s really creepy how you’re just hanging around!”

“Take Marik to your bedroom then. I live here too.”

Marik just sat there, eating popcorn and watching the movie. This had been happening all week. He’d learned to ignore it.

“Where is Amelda anyway? Did he die?”

Atemu looked angry for a second, then it went away. “No. We broke up.”

“Well -.” Yugi stopped. “What? But you guys loved each other and junk -Marik stop feeling my ass!”

The Yami smirked and kept eating popcorn. Yugi stood further away from him. “Yami?”

He got up. “I’ll just go to my room, since I’m not allowed to be in my own living room.”

Yugi watched him leave, pouting. “He’s trying to make me feel bad!”

“And it’s working!” Marik reached out, grabbing air. “Hey, stand closer. I need something to squeeze!”

“Perv...” He looked upstairs. Yami...

Ryou giggled into the phone while he cooked.

“Yeah, he’s been over all this week. It’s been great.”

He checked the oven and got some mitts, bending to get the chicken out.

“Mmm, nothing much. Making dinner....oh, it’s chicken.”

He checked the pots one last time and let the meat out to cool a bit then snatched off the apron, shooing Akefia away. “Stay away from my Chicken!”

“Mroaw...” he complained, twining between Ryou’s legs.

“No Akefia! Hm? No..he’s being needy for no reason....Well, Yami, I’ll come cook later. Tomorrow maybe?” He looked up and saw Akefia poised to pounce for the counter. “Damn it cat!”

He got Akefia in one arm and held the phone in the other. “Can I call you later? ...yeah okay. Cool.” He hung up and tossed Akefia towards the living room, happy to see he landed on the couch.

Crazy animal...

He got out two plates, humming to himself. He wondered what it was going to be about...that phone call.

“Ryou, tomorrow, I need to speak with you.”

He got out the silver ware and set the table, smiling when the door bell rang.

Bakura came out of the house stretching. It was unlike Seto to actually bother to drive by and pick him up, but whatever. Maybe he could weedle some dinner out of the CEO if he asked.

The limo pulled up slow and sinister and for a second, the thief expected a gun muzzle to meet him at the window. Instead, it was Kaiba’s face.

“Get in.” was all he said.

Bakura got in, sitting across from the boy. “What’s with you? You kill someone today?”

Seto’s appearance was immaculate. Nothing was out of place, right down to the shine of his shoes.

“I need to talk to you.”

“So talk.”

Seto crossed one leg over the other and Bakura got tense. He’d seen this posture before. Kaiba used it when he was about to fire someone, either on the phone or in person.

“...Then I’ll get straight to the point. However I think you should know that we’re headed to my place uptown.”

“Where Ryou stay? Are you kicking Ryou out?”

“Not at all. We’re heading there because it has to do with him as well, as I no doubt believe he’s finding out now.”

“Finding out what?” he growled.

**
Ryou looked at the food and back to Dartz. “You don’t like chicken?”

“Of course I do...Dearest. I just need to talk to you and I need to talk to you now.”

Ryou took a seat at the table and Dartz joined him. The doe-eyed boy smiled, waiting.

“...this week...has been wonderful.”

The hikari blushed and looked down at the table. “Yes...”

“And I do enjoy our time together. You know that.”

He nodded, worrying at the table cloth that fell into his lap. He knew he was blushing, but he didn’t care.

“And...I really do love you Ryou.”

He looked up at Dartz, tears in his eyes. “I love you too.”

“That’s why...I think you should know...”

**

The limo pulled to a stop and Seto leaned back in his seat. “Well?”

“Well. What?” Bakura was controlling himself very well. Too well. His arms were crossed and his eyes were glowing a fierce red. Seto believed that at any moment he’d be sent off to the shadow realm.

“Don’t you have anything to say?”

Bakura suppressed a growl. “What can I say? What do you say? Would you like me to say, ‘I’m sorry all I was good for was sex, but not a real relationship’ or what about, ‘I’m sorry I don’t lead the kind of life that’s better attuned to your schedule’. What would you like me to say huh?”

Seto just watched him and Bakura lost it.

“WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO SAY!?” he yelled.

Seto flinched. “Maybe you should lea -.”

“Fuck you Seto Kaiba. FUCK YOU!” Bakura got out of the car and slammed the door. Hard.

Inside, Seto swallowed and tried to make his heart stop thumping. He could have sworn in that moment that Bakura would have done something. But he didn’t.

**

Ryou blinked, hand shaking. He hadn’t heard that. Not...not that.

“Ryou? Would you like me to repeat it?”

His lip trembled. “Dartz...I don’t understand. I’ll wait until you’re not busy -.”

“It isn’t about that Ryou. It’s about my time, what best for me and what’s best for you. I can’t be a good boyfriend...if I’m never around.”

Ryou shook his head. “I’ll wait. You don’t understand. I love you, so I’ll wait for you -.”

“Ryou.”

The white haired boy stopped and looked at him, tears leaking from his eyes.

“It’s not just...about time and work. I’ve been seeing someone else for about a month now.”

He whimpered and looked down at the table, shaking his head. “No. No you haven’t.”

“Yes. I have. Alright? Someone who knows what it’s like to be in my position. We have a relationship.”

“No. You have a relationship with me. I love you Dartz. I love you.”

“Ryou, please, I know this is hard to accept, but it’s really over between us. I thought I could...salvage it, make it last. That’s why I was here this week. But I’m with someone else now.”

“No, no, no!” Ryou was steadily crying now, shaking his head. “You said you love me!” He looked at him. “We love each other!”

“Yes we do.” Dartz put his hand on Ryou’s. “But I’m not in love with you anymore. Alright?”

And something just snapped. Ryou began to sob, hard and long. He put his head down onto the table and just began crying, “No, no, no!”

Dartz sat there, not knowing what to do. “Ryou please...please be alright. Seto’s waiting for me.”

Dartz stopped himself. He hadn’t meant to let that out.

Ryou looked up at him. “What? Why is Yami’s boyfriend waiting for you?”

“...He isn’t Bakura’s boyfriend Ryou. He’s who I’ve been seeing -.”

And Ryou laughed. Loud and long. “No you haven’t!” He wiped his eyes. “See, this is all a joke. You were trying to test me.” He sniffled. “I knew you still loved me.”

“Ryou, you need to understand. We are no longer together alright? I am dating Seto Kaiba. Understand?”

Ryou’s hand found the carving knife and he looked at it, sniffling. “No...no I don’t understand.”

“Well, then I’ll say it again...”

**

Downstairs, Seto was puzzled as he heard something slump against the car. He got out and saw it was Bakura. The boy was breathing hard and his eyes were wide.

“...Bakura?”

“R-ryou...there’s something...” He got up staggering, clutching his head. “There’s something wrong -he’s -Ung...”

The Millennium ring under his shirt began to glow, something he’d never seen happen before and Bakura staggered for the building, whispering, “Ryou don’t do it.”

Seto followed him and when they got to the top floor, Bakura picked the lock, fumbling with the few tools he always kept handy. His eyes were dilated and he couldn’t concentrate.

“Ryou...” he whispered, forcing the door open.

He looked around frantically, screaming when he saw. “RYOU!”

Straddling, Dartz with the knife already bloody in his hand was Ryou. He saw Bakura and smiled, his eyes red.

“Yami.”

Bakura knew what it was. It was insanity.

“Ryou...” he neared him, seeing that Dartz was unconscious. “Ryou what have you done?”

He giggled and smiled. “Yami, he was lying to me. He was lying. He said -he said he didn’t love me anymore and that he was going out with your boyfriend. Is he silly?”

Bakura saw Ryou’s wrists and how pale he was. “What did you do?” He whimpered, grabbing a towel.

“I want us to be together. Yami?” Ryou stopped smiling and sniffled. “It’s getting cold.”

Seto just stood there. What the hell was going on?

“GET AND AMBULANCE!” Bakura roared.

And Seto moved, getting out his cell phone.

Bakura was at a loss. Could shadow magic heal? Sure it could. Marik took Malik’s scars...but that was tranference. He looked at Ryou’s face and he was going fast. He looked at Dartz and the stab wounds and could have cared less. He’d seen death and murder. Hell, he’d murdered, but his Hikari?

“Ryou?”

The doe-eyed Hikari nodded a little and his head fell back.

And Bakura screamed.
