A Year With You

Jou could hardly believe what a whirlwind month it had been. He looked down at the mass of yarn in his lap and felt tears prick his eyes. He had tried to knit Seto a scarf but had only made a bigger mess the harder he tried. A soft knock came to his door so he shoved his mess under his pillow. “Come in.” He said. Seto opened the door and walked over flopping on his bed. He winced as his lover landed right on his knitting.

Seto sat up and pulled out what he had landed on looking it over with a critical eye. He loved the colors and he could tell Jou was trying hard on what looked to be the start of a scarf. “My birthday present?” He held up the mess and his puppy’s head dropped. “I love the colors you picked.” His love peeked at him and he started to gently untangle the mass of yarn. Once he had it all untangled he started to gently wind it into a ball. He then handed it over to his lover. “I might be easier like this. That way the end won’t get tangled.”

Jou stared at the ball of yarn then flopped back groaning. “How can you possibly love me? You are so perfect and I’m a fuck up!” He looked to Seto who was giving him an amused smile. “Jou I would hardly call you a fuck up. Every one struggles with something. Yours, it appears, just happens to be knitting.” He huffed and rolled over so he was looking at Seto.

“You don’t struggle at anything. School is a breeze, you own one of the fucking biggest companies in the world, you always look great, you make love perfectly, you kiss perfectly, and you are just perfect. I can’t do anything as well as you.” Jou whined.

Seto smiled softly and stroked Jou’s face. “I can’t cook. I can make simple things that take very little time and effort. I can’t make friends. I can very rarely speak my mind. I think you make love and kiss perfectly. I think you turn me on perfectly. You give wonderful massages. You have a good job and the chance to do what you love. You have tons of people that love you. You have even more people that just like you. You always look and act like you. I struggle at talking to people unless it’s you or Mokuba. You aren’t a fuck up Jou. The things I do like my job, school, and you I do well. Just like the things you do like cook, make friends, and me you do well.”

Jou lay there just staring at his love for a long while. He broke into a grin and pounced his lover kissing him deeply. “So should I do you well right now?” Seto smirked and pulled him down for a kiss. “I would say yes but all of your little friends are downstairs.” Jou pulled away feeling puzzled then blushed remembering Seto’s surprise party. So much for the surprise. “Puppy-love would you like to tell me why are your little friends are down in my living room?” He blushed again looking into stunning azure eyes. “Um I wanted to surprise you with a party. I just figured you hadn’t had one so…” He trailed off not sure what else to say. His lover just smiled and pulled him down for a kiss. “That’s sweet puppy. Well let’s go down and party then.” Jou looked at his lover for a while and smiled brightly. “You’re not mad?”

Seto smirked and shook his head. Jou could be so sweet and clueless at the same time. “I’m not mad but I’m not exactly thrilled either. Just know you owe me and you’ll make it up to me tonight. There was a tiny part of my fantasy I was holding back on. You’ll make it up to me.” He ran his hands teasingly down Jou’s sides then gracefully slipped from under his lover and walked out the door.

Jou watched Seto go eager and apprehensive for tonight. He knew his lover would never hurt him. That didn’t mean that Seto wouldn’t make him suffer. He stood hoping his friends would leave quickly.

Seto would never admit it to anyone but he was having fun. The gang was complete and had a few people he wasn’t expecting. Yami, Yugi, Bakura, Ryou, Malik, Marik, Shizuka, Honda, Otogi, Anzu, and Mai were all rather expected. Mai brought over Valon, her current boyfriend, and Malik and Marik brought over Ishizu and Odin who were not expected. Then Nagi, Chisa, Kentaro, and Hiroki were all invited as well. Seto was most surprised to see Hiroki knowing how jealous his lover was. He was still enjoying him self.

Mokuba was pleased to see Seto having a good time. He and Jou both knew when they planned the party things could go either way. Either Seto would go with it claiming that they owed him and have a good time. Or his brother would have gotten pissed and locked himself in the office. Mokuba was just happy to see Seto chose the first one over the last. He smiled at every one eating cake and playing games on the new system Seto was had made and was still ironing the bugs out of. He said it was a good beta testing opportunity. He flopped down next to his brother watching Honda and Jou battle it out on some racing game. Jou was sitting against his brother’s legs looking content.

Seto smiled at his brother and leaned over slightly and kissed his head. Mokuba gave him a dark look but he just smiled. Seto was happy. He watched his puppy beat Honda. His lover looked up at him and grinned. “Should we open your presents?” He blinked not realizing he was getting any. “Guys it’s time for Seto to open presents!” His lover said happily putting away the game and clearing a space. He blinked as his brother was the first to hand him a gift. It was large, flat and heavy. He smiled and tore open the colored paper. In side was a framed picture of him and Jou kissing. It was done in black and white and it was stunning. “Thank you. It’s wonderful Mokuba.” His brother grinned happily.

Bakura shoved his gift at Seto and the brunet gave him a small nod. He felt a deep attachment to the brunet that grew with every tape he watched. He saw what courage and strength it took of the poor little boy in those tapes to survive. He wished his gift could show that but he didn’t think it did. He watched Seto open the bag and smile. “Oh, Bakura it’s perfect. I’ll save that for tonight. Thank you.” He saw Jou blush as the gift was set aside. He was at least happy Seto liked the gift.
Ryou looked at his lover curious as to what Bakura got for Seto. He had signed Bakura’s name on his gift but he clearly didn’t have to. He silently handed his gift over while watching Bakura. He had woken up several times late at night to find his lover watching the tapes of Seto’s rape. He saw now how much his darker half respected and loved Seto Kaiba. He watched as Seto pulled out the black comforter and smiled. “It’s beautiful Ryou thank you.” He nodded blushing slightly as Seto showed off the comforter of the Blue Eyes and Red Eyes dragons curled together. He thought it was perfect for both Seto and Jou.

Malik bounced up and handed over the box from every one in the family. Seto took it and carefully read the card and smiled opening the box. Inside sat a crystal dragon with deep blue eyes. Seto sat staring at it in wonder and smiled at him. He had watched many of the tapes with Bakura and he too had come to love and cherish the brunet. He wanted something to protect Seto and make him happy. “Thank you.” He nodded as blue eyes that almost matched the dragon’s eyes looked at him. He saw what Seto could never say and it was more than enough.

Yugi looked at his Yami who had been rather sullen. He rolled his eyes and handed Seto his small package. It was the same picture that Mokuba gave Seto only smaller and in color. Seto smiled slightly and he looked to. His best friend gave a small nod and he knew he was on his way to being fully forgiven. “This is great Yugi, Yami thank you. Now I can have the small one on my desk at work.” He smiled happily and sat watching at the other gifts were handed out.

Honda went next and handed Kaiba a bag. He didn’t mind the CEO any more. Jou was happy and that was all that really mattered to him. He watched Seto peek in the bag and the brunet actually blushed. “Thank you Honda, Otogi. Your gift will come in very handy.” He smiled and leaned in close to the brunet’s ear. “This is another gift for you Kaiba. When Jou get’s an adrenalin rush he gets really horny. He gets really, really horny when he plays dual monsters. Just keep it in mind.” He pulled away and the brunet studied him for a long while. “I will use that gift well.” He nodded and sat back down.

Anzu handed Seto a gift blushing. She had no idea what to get for the CEO. The other day she passed a toy store on her way home from work and saw the cutest puppy stuffed animal that reminded her of Jou. Seto opened the gift and looked over the stuffed animal and she held her breath. The dog was soft and golden with long bangs that hang in its eyes and it had just the tip of a pink tongue sticking from its mouth. Seto laughed and showed Jou. “It looks like you when you just wake up. Thank you Anzu I love it.” She nodded and happily sat down.

Mai looked around and sighed heavily. “Kaiba hun I didn’t get you a gift I’m sorry.” The brunet shrugged and smiled at her gently. It made her feel a bit hot and bothered. She always thought Seto was good looking but when he smiled…well she saw why Jou was so in love. “It’s fine. Thank you for coming.” She nodded and looked to Valon who shrugged.

Chisa handed over her gift with a small smile. Seto looked it over and carefully opened it. Her boss pulled out the picture and smiled gently opening his locket and placing the new picture of Jou and Mokuba inside. She smiled and winked. Kentaro did make the cake and dinner for every one so she wasn’t concerned about her husband.

Hiroki blushed deeply as he handed Seto his gift. He may not like Jou but he did love Seto so he was willing to be the bigger man. He watched as Seto opened the box and nodded. “This is unexpected Hiroki. Thank you. I’m sure I’ll find a good use for your gift.” He nodded still blushing.

Shizuka handed over her gift and Seto opened the book smiling. It was full of pictures of a young Jou. Then suddenly there were pictures of him when he was young. “It’s from Nagi, Mokuba and I. We thought you might enjoy it.” Seto looked at her and pulled her down giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek. “Thank you. How did you get some of these pictures? It’s perfect.” She nodded and kissed the brunet back. “Malik and Bakura helped. Inside is a key to the safety deposit box your parents bought long ago. It still has a bunch of stuff left but I thought some of it would work for now.” Seto nodded slight tears in his eyes even if he was clearly pleased.

Jou was oddly happy to see his friends go. He gave his sister a tight hug then smiled as her, Mokuba and Nagi left. He closed the door and locked it sagging against the heavy wood. He looked to Seto who was calmly turning the pages and looking over the book. He smiled and swayed over draping his arms around his love. “Are you ready for me to hold up my end of the bet?” He asked coyly nuzzling a warm neck. Long slender fingers threaded into his hair as he was kissed tenderly. “We’ll just have to go up stairs and find out wont we puppy?” He purred happily crawling over the sofa and into Seto’s lap.
