Chapter 27
Jou lingered on the kiss that he was giving Seto. He didn’t much care if Honda and Otogi saw him making out with his boyfriend. He pulled away and Seto gave him the tiny flicker of a smile he loved. “So, what are your plans today, Seto? You know, you can always join us.” He lover shook his head, slowly detangling himself. “I think I am going to stay at home and catch up on my reading. I haven’t read a good book in a while. If not, I may work on some programs for a few new games I have in my head. I don’t know.” Jou pouted and sighed, kissing Seto once more. “Well, have fun. If you change your mind, you know how to reach me.” His lover nodded as he jogged off and hopped in Otogi’s car. Jou stretched as his oldest friend grinned at him. He told his friend everything…well nearly everything. They knew the basics of what he and Seto had done but they knew nothing of his lover’s past or any details on their personal moments. “So, what did you do yesterday?” Honda was leering at him and he shook his head. “Seto and I slept in and then we took a walk. After that, we came home and watched movies. Seto made really yummy pasta and we just kind of did nothing.” Honda pouted and Jou smiled. “Why? What did you want me to do? Seto and I don’t go at it like bunnies like some others in the group. We are still taking our time.” Honda yawned and turned back to the front. “Boring.” He laughed, softly kicking the back of his friend’s seat.
Seto watched the car vanish and shook his head. He had a whole day to himself. Mokuba was already at Yugi’s since he had spent the night at Nagi’s. Jou just left and he had nothing to do. His phone rang and he sighed grabbing it off the cradle. “Kaiba.” There was a lot of noise in the back ground that sounded like his office. “Seto, it’s Chisa. Have you seen today’s newspaper?” He blinked and looked around. He didn’t see the news paper anywhere. “No, I don’t even know where my newspaper went.” He heard his sectary heave a great sigh and he knew something was wrong. “I’ll be right over.” The line went dead and he blinked. He turned to his butler who bowed low. “Where is my newspaper?” He asked in a low growl. The man’s eyes flicked from side to side a clear sign of a lie. “I don’t know, sir.” He glared at the man before him who silently began to sweat. The man handed it over and he sighed looking it over. Huge on the front cover was a picture of him and Jou from their walk yesterday when they kissed. The head line read ‘Seto Kaiba is Gay.’ He blinked reading though the article stopping at one point. ‘Kaiba was seen kissing Jounouchi Katsuya, dual monster and acclaimed everyday rival. Sources say the two would fight like cats and dogs at school.’ He rolled his eyes taking the paper over to the couch and flopping down, cursing silently under his breath.

Jou skipped into Yugi’s living room and froze in his tracks. All of his friends turned to look at him. He looked back at Honda and Otogi who looked as baffled as he did. Yugi silently stood and handed over the paper. Jou blinked at the huge picture of him and Seto kiss then looked at the headline. He laughed thinly, feeling suddenly ill. This picture could really hurt Seto and Kaiba Corp. “Jou, do you need me to get you anything?” Yugi asked in a soft voice and he shook his head, crumpling the paper reading the name at the top. “No, I’m fine Yug’. Seto is going to be so pissed.” His friend nodded silently and sat next to him rubbing his back. “Are you worried about what this will do to your relationship?” Jou looked at his best friend and nodded, slowly tears of anger and fear flooding his eyes. His friend hugged him tightly as Mokuba silently handed over a phone. He nodded his thanks pressing the speed dial number Mokuba had set as ‘home.’

Seto nodded to his secretary, who looked at the paper in his hands and silently nodded back. “So, how bad is it?” He asked, gently and the lady sighed deeply. “Kaiba Corp stock has dropped fifteen percent in the past two hours.” Seto sighed, silently sinking back into the couch. “Chisa, set up a press conference if you will. I am not going to deny that Jou and I are lovers. I love Jou, plain and simple. I will try to handle this with as much grace as possible.” His sectary nodded pulling out her phone. His phone chimed and he grabbed it hoping that it was Jou on the other line. “Seto?” He sighed as he heard his puppy’s voice. “Yes, Jou, it’s me. I take it you have seen the paper as well.” There was a long pause and his lover sighed, softly. “Yeah. Are we still ok?” He smiled wanting Jou there with him. “Yes. Jou, I love you and no stupid paper article is going to change that. Plus, it’s not your fault.” His lover let out a happy sigh. “What about Kaiba Corp?” Seto sighed, heavily running a hand through his hair. “Our stock prices dropped fifteen percent in the past two hours. I’m holding a press conference to hopefully smooth things over. However, it might take us a while to recover. Jou, I’d really like you to be there if you wouldn’t mind.”
Jou flinched as he heard the bad news. He then heard the last statement and fell in love all over again. Seto wanted him there. “Sure thing, I don’t know if I’ll be any help. I mean I do have a really big mouth.” His lover chuckled softly and he was glad he could at least relax Seto some what. “Hay, Mokie and I are on our way back. We’ll plan things from there. I love you.”
“I love you, too, Jou.”
“Don’t worry, Seto, we’ll figure things out.”
“I know, puppy. It just hurts a little that’s all.”
“I know.”
“Jou, I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Jou silently hung up the phone and turned to Mokuba who was looking eager and hopeful. He bit his lip hating to drop the bad news, but the little boy had the right to know. “Stocks dropped fifteen percent in two hours.” Mokuba went chalk white and slowly sank into a chair, trembling slightly. “Your brother is holding a press conference, he wants us there.” Mokuba nodded and slowly stood with help from Nagi and Shizuka. He looked to his little sister, who flashed him a reassuring smile. He took her hand needing some comfort at the moment. His best friend grabbed his shirt and he looked into big violet eyes. “We are coming, too.” He nodded his thanks and hugged his best friend gently.

Jou placed a lingering kiss on Seto’s lips while his lover straitened his tie. He sighed softly looking into rather calm blue eyes. “What are you going to tell them?” His lover shrugged and kissed his head. “The truth.” He nodded silently kissing Seto once more. He lover smiled then calmly walked into the press room. He followed along with Mokuba and thousands of flash bulbs went off. Seto looked calmly over the press room and cleared his throat.
“By now many of you have seen the picture of me kissing another man. I am here today to tell you that the picture you saw was very real. That was me and my boyfriend, Jounouchi Katsuya. We have been considered rivals in many ways but I have learned that love is found in the most unexpected places. I would not consider myself gay, to put it simply, I am in love with Jou. It does not brother me that he is a man or would it brother me if he were a woman. I fell in love with him for his strength and his unwavering loyalty.
“It pains me that my investors see the love I have with Jou as wrong. Just because I am with a man does not mean the standards of Kaiba Corp have changed. We still strive to make the best technology so every one can enjoy games. We still strive to make our games something the whole family can enjoy. I have raised my little brother since I was eight years old. I have watched him grow and change, as many of you have done with your own children. I understand your need for their safety and innocence. Please know that just because I am in a relationship that does not mean the standards of my games will change. I will continue to make games appropriate for children and young adults of any origin, race, background, or sexual orientation. I do not want to force my way of life on others, I just want to live my life how I wish to. I love Jou and I love making games, I also love my family. I will continue to love those things no matter what happens. Thank you for your time and I just hope for your understanding in this matter as well.”
Jou was stunned by the speech that Seto made. It did not hold his usual grace and ease but it was from the heart. He saw tears glitter in his lover’s eyes near the end and he swore it was the most human side of Seto Kaiba that any one had ever seen. His lover came over and calmly hugged his secretary. A small kiss was placed on his lips, then one on Mokuba’s head. Seto held his head high and walked out of the room like a king. He felt anger deep with in him for people being so stupid. Mokuba started to follow his brother but he marched to the podium and glared out at the crowd. “Ya know what, I love Seto Kaiba. Just because I’m a guy doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. It’s our life, so leave us the hell alone. We don’t tell you your way of life is wrong, so don’t go assuming ours is. I’ve known people that have done much worse things than love some one else. Seto loves me and if that’s the worst thing he’s done, then well I‘d much rather have him as a role model for my kids, then some of the other people out there. He’s done so many great things like raising his little brother. Mokuba is a great kid. Seto also took a company that built weapons and things that hurt people and made it into a company that made games for everyone to enjoy. If you can’t see how amazing he is then you are just stupid. I’m not just saying these things because I love him. There were times I didn’t even like him but I had to admire everything he’s over come and all the good he has done. He donates more to charity in a month than most companies do in a year. He doesn’t do it so he’ll look good he does it because he gives a damn. I’m sorry that I’m a man and you see that as wrong but I’m not sorry I love Seto Kaiba.” He turned and marched off the stage and out of the room.
Seto pulled Jou into a deep kiss, laughing softly. Jou collapsed into him, trembling. He kissed his puppy’s head, nuzzling soft gold hair. “Jou, I’m so proud of you.” Jou sighed softly. “That was so scary. I have no idea how you can do that all the time.” Seto chuckled scooping his puppy up and carrying him out the door. He looked to all of Jou’s friends, rather glad they had been there for Jou and for him. “Let’s all get dinner, my treat.” Yugi flashed him a vivid smile and Jou glared at his little friend. “My Seto.” His puppy mumbled into his neck and he smirked kissing his puppy deeply.

Yugi cleared his throat and lifted his glass smiling at his best friend. Jou was snuggled into Seto’s side and clearly content just to stay there. “I would like to purpose a toast to Jou and Kaiba. Here is to two people that have faced more in one day than many of us have in a whole year. Not only were they very publicly exposed but they both handled it with a grace and dignity seen by few. May your futures be long and prosperous together and may there always be love between you.” Every one raised their glasses toasting Jou and Kaiba. Yugi watched as Jou took it with good humor and he also noticed a very faint blush color on Seto’s cheeks, then vanish.
Dinner wore on with pleasant chats and a rather calm atmosphere. Jou snuggled to Seto’s side, leaning his head against a strong shoulder. His lover kissed the top of his head, gently whispering to him. “I have no idea why you were so afraid after being on camera. You’ve done it tons of times during the dual monster tournaments.” He shrugged and turned to his lover. “It’s different. During the tournaments, I was doing something I loved so I didn’t notice the cameras. On the stage back at you office, I was telling the world ‘I’m here, I’m queer, get over it.’ It was very different.” His lover smiled and Bakura snickered. He glared at the white haired spirit. “So, you could do Kaiba on camera and not have a problem? After all, you would be doing something you love.” He chucked one of his chopsticks at Bakura’s head. The ancient spirit knocked it down it with an easy grace and chucked it back. Seto snagged it out of mid air and Jou sat there gaping as his boyfriend gently set in on the table. “THAT WAS AWESOME!” Malik yelled, bouncing up and down. Seto gave a fleeting smile and the rest of dinner was spent trying to chuck things at Seto. Jou smiled happy, his boyfriend actually seemed relaxed around his friends. He realized he really loved Seto Kaiba.

hehehe sorry guys I've been really really busy with family, school,and work lately.I just changed my major and have had a tone of family crisis including two major surgries and cancer so my life has been a little hectic. I kind of forgot to update.
I would love to say no worries I'll stay on top of things but that would be a flat out lie. I have two papers to write a bunch of tests to study for all while trying to get enough money to actually pay for school. Most of all i have to make sure my family will live. All of my fics are on hold at the moment. I know this one is done being written but not edited and sadly my beta vanished. So for the time being the updates on this fic are on hold as well. At least till I get out of midterms and have a chance to breath.
I will also try to track down my beta and kick her butt into gear. Sorry again but hay stuff happens. Please review. I seem to have lost some reviewers and it hit me kind of hard. I'm really in need of something good.
I thank you for your understanding. Once again I am really sorry because my readers do mean a lot to me. So please just give me some time to get things together and I'll try to be better in the future.
