Don't Mess With Me

Wow thanks for the reviews and nice words. Um questions about Aya, I'm afraid I didn't really give it much thought as to how her and Seto became friends. Although I like to think that Seto didn't have much choice, she just decided to befriend him and that was that.

I apologies if my OC's turn out to be a but MarySue ish. I didn't intend for them to be that way. So I guess it's up to you to decide. It's something I can work on in my next fic.

Anyway Part 2....

“Would you just listen to me Wheeler? Don’t get involved with her, she’s evil!”

“I thought she was your friend?”

Seto had found Joey waiting at the school entrance for the rest of his geeky little friends to show up. Kaiba saw this as an opportunity to warn him off Aya. He didn’t like it that she had taken to hanging out with him recently.

“I guess, as much as anyone is. I still don’t know why though.” He grumbles. “It doesn’t change the fact that she is evil and just playing with you.”

“What do you mean “playing” with me?”

“What do you think I mean? You’re not a friend to her, just a toy. She’ll pick you up, play with you and when she gets bored, throw you away. That’s what she does to people.”

“Why are you telling me this Kaiba? Since when do you care what I do?”

“I don’t! I just can’t watch you make a fool out of yourself again. I know, you’d think I’d be used to it by now. However she taking advantage of you because you’re too stupid to know better.”

“Watch it Kaiba!” growls Joey, quickly losing his temper. “I don’t need you to tell me what to do!”

Sighing, “Wheeler, try to understand. She’s not like you and your little loser squad. Friendship doesn’t mean anything to her.”

Joey had gone still, looking at something over Kaiba’s shoulder.

“Wow Set, I had no idea you thought of me that way.” Kaiba turns round to see Aya standing there. “It’s kinda mean, don’t you think?”

“Oh please, you know you’re like that.”

“So you’re not even gonna apologies? I mean I’m your only friend Seto and this is how you treat me.” Aya tried to give her best hurt expression. “And I’ve been trying to help you all this time and this is the thanks I get.”

“Stop it!” Kaiba says sharply to Aya, before turning back to Wheeler. “Can’t you see what she’s doing?”

“What? Being upset with you because you’re acting like a prick!”

“That’s...it’s not...please tell me you are not buying into this act!”

“Give it a rest Kaiba. Why don’t you just apologies?”

Kaiba points to Aya, “But she’s not even upset!” Joey simply stares back at Kaiba, clearly not listening to a word he was saying. “No! I’m not falling for this! Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing.” He shoots back at Aya before stalking away again. Joey moves over to Aya, who has her head bowed and shoulders shaking.

“Are you alright?” Joey asks in concern. Only to be in total confusion when Aya throws her head back, laughing loudly.

“You know, for someone who’s supposed to know me, he bites just as much as anyone.”

“So you’re not upset then?”

“Hell no! Kaiba’s right. I am like that. I love messing with people, him most of all.”

“That means that he’s was...telling the truth... you’re...” Joey slowly trails off, trying to make sense of what was going on.

“Don’t worry Joey. I may like pissing off Seto, but I love the guy really. And I really like you as well. You’re my puppy and a puppy’s for life not just for annoying Kaiba.” She says placing a few pats on his head. “Anyway it’s not me we should be focusing on.”

“It’s not”

“No! Can’t you see what Seto was doing?” Joey shakes his head no. “Man Kaiba wasn’t kidding; you really are a bit of an idiot aren’t you?”

“Hey!”

“What? I only said a bit. Look that’s not the issue here. The thing is that Kaiba was showing you he cares.” Joey looks uncertain. “He doesn’t want to see you getting hurt because of me. He’s worried about you.”

“You’re reading too much into this.”

“And you’re not reading enough.”

“Come on, this is crazy. He hates me. And besides he’s with Yami.”

Aya shakes her head, a small smile forming. “Nope, not anymore. Kaiba broke it off.”

“So? He still hates me.”

“No Wheeler!” Aya throws her arms up in frustration. “Have you not been listening to what I’ve been saying? I wouldn’t be wasting my time on this if I knew that he hated you.”

“Wasting time?”

“Yes! Why do you think I’ve been spending all this time with you? I’m giving Seto the opportunity to be nice.”

“So you’re doing this for Kaiba?”

“No! I’m doing this for me. Do you have any idea how many hours I have had to listen to him bitch and moan about you? I couldn’t take it anymore. I much rather hear about all the dirty things you two should be getting up to.”

“Huh?” Joey blurts out, his cheeks going red. “Um...well...I’m not sure that’s...”

“Well you better get sure. Cos if you two take any longer with this, I’m gonna have to get serious. And I don’t think either one of you wants that.” Joey takes a step back, slightly scared at the serious tone that Aya had taken. He was relieved when Yugi and the gang finally turned up.

“Hey Jou, what’s up man? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Asks Tristan.

“If only.” Mumbles Joey, trying to keep Aya’s attention off of him, pleased that she seemed to be all over Yugi now.

“So how’s it going with Yami?” She asks, nudging him playfully with her elbow.

“Uh well...” Yugi says blushing. “There’s not much to tell really. We just sort of talk and stuff.”

“Aww.” This seemed to be too much for Aya, as she suddenly felt the need to hug Yugi tightly. “You are just too cute.”

“Judging by his past boyfriends, you wouldn’t think that Yami would go for the cutesy type. Doesn’t do it for me personally.” Duke chimed in thoughtfully.

“Really I thought everything did it for you Duke.”

“No one asked you Tristan!”

“I don’t know if cutesy is his type, but he definitely likes Yugi.” Aya says still holding on to a very red faced Yugi.

“Don’t you think you’ve tormented you’re classmates enough for today?” To a much relieved Yugi, Azuma arrives and pulls Aya off of him.

“Aw you always spoil my fun!” Aya pouts. “Meany!”

“I prefer to think of it more as providing a much needed service.”

“You’re so cruel to me big brother!”

“Brother!” The group exclaimed in disbelieve.

“I didn’t know Azuma was your brother Aya.” Voiced Ryou.

“But don't you guys have different last names?” Pointed out Duke.

“He’s my step-brother.”

“Yeah our parents got married last year and now I have to live with her.”

Clearly annoyed Aya asks “Why are you here?”

“I’ve come to escort your ladyship home par instructions.”

“Whose instructions?”

“You’re fathers.”

“Oh. But neither of them are home so it doesn’t matter...hey!” Not being bothered to argue Azuma picks her up, carrying her over his shoulder.

“Whatever. Come on say bye bye to your little friends.”

“Bye Bye little friends.” Azuma starts to walk off. “And remember Jou-Jou, I’m not joking.” They disappear down the road.

“Strange family.” States Duke.

“Are you alright Joey, you’re looking a bit pale?”

“Yeah Joey, what did she say to you?”

“I think I’m gonna skip tomorrow.” Joey groans.

Joey sat, bummed out, in Domino Park, thinking about what he was gonna do about this whole Kaiba thing. Sure Kaiba wasn’t exactly hard to look at and he had always liked blue eyes. Almost everything about Kaiba was perfect; he was handsome, rich, confident, rich, smart and let’s not forget rich. It was his personality that let him down.
Then there was this thing with Aya. He really didn’t want to be pressured into anything. That twined with the fear of how she may act left Joey at a loss for what to do. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Kaiba that way. He’d be lying if he said he’d never thought about, but that was all it was, a fantasy. Never in his right mind did he think it was actually possible. Besides how could he be sure that Aya was speaking the truth? He and Kaiba had spent so much of their time arguing with each other, it seemed impossible that what Aya said about Kaiba was to be believed.

“Oh man! What am I gonna do?” he sighed.

“About what?”

“Aahhhhhh!” Joey jumps at the sound of the familiar voice, only to look up to see Kaiba standing there. “Don’t sneak up on me like that! What are you trying to do, give me a heart attack?”

“Sorry but I have been here for awhile now. It’s not my fault you have zero amount of awareness.”

“I gotta tell you Kaiba, I’m not in the mood for this right now.”

“You think I am?” He sets down heavily next to Joey. “I’ve only just finished work for the day.”

“Shit Kaiba it’s almost midnight! You’re gonna work yourself to death you know.”

“I didn’t ask for your opinion Wheeler.”

“Then why are you here?”

Kaiba seems to study Joey for a minute before replying with, “That’s what I’d like to know.” They sat in awkward silence for a moment before Joey snapped.

“Ah I can’t take this! Can you just tell what I did to make you hate me so much?” Kaiba didn’t answer right away, making the silence stretch out between them again. Deciding that he had had enough of this silence (After spending as long as possible studying his shoes) Joey was gonna tell him to just forget it, when he saw that Kaiba was looking right at him, making him jump again.

“You’re awfully jumpy Wheeler. Anyone would think you’re afraid of me.”

“I ain’t scared of ya!”

“Is that so?” said Kaiba leaning in closer to Joey. “You want to know what it is I hate about you?” Joey nods, fighting the urge to back away from the sudden closeness. “You’re far too distracting.” Kaiba close the remaining distance between them and presses his lips to Joey’s. It takes Joey a few seconds to realise that Kaiba is actually kissing him before his eyes flutter shut and hesitantly begins to kiss back. Even as the moan is forming in Joey throat, Kaiba pulls away. “That’s why I was so late finishing work. You take up far too much time in my thoughts. I was just returning the favour.” With his piece said Kaiba walks away, leaving Joey very lost as to what just happened.
