The Beginning of Nowhere
I look out into the rain. It falls with grace and yet is still so cold and lonely. Everything has become lonely and depressed. Exactly 5 years ago my other half died. I don’t know what made him what to die but I bet it has something to do with me cheating on him. Yugi and Yami saw it all real clear. It happened right in front of there house.
All I wanted to do is end it. End everything. End my lies I’ve been living in. I wanted to end my life. There was a loud car horn and a cry of my name. Then everything went black.
Bakura stepped off the stairs and on to the sidewalk. Not caring that people were giving him strange glances. He only wanted on thing and now fate had taken that away from him. He wanted to be alone to rot in hell and forget everything. Fresh tears leaked from the lifeless grey eyes. Sighing, as he felt the wind blow his white alabaster hair in the wind. He let a fait smile creep onto his lips. *Just a few more steps...* Bakura’s mind told him in pure mockery. Bakura took those last few steps without any remorse.
A loud car horn blew as it rushed by Bakura. Many others followed in their foot steps. People that were passing by stopped and yelled at him to move and get out of the way. Yugi and Yami watched from their home frozen with shock. *Why is Bakura doing this?* asked Yami to his light but was only received with a silent plea for him to stop.
Bakura looked at everybody that was calling to him; telling him to move out of the way. He never heard their cries and their pleas. None of them were able to reach his ears... None except... his.
“Bakura, please move!” shouted Ryou from the side lines. He had tears falling from his eyes. The strong fall wind blew his hair about. He looked beautiful and he thought for a moment. *Why, am I doing this? Ryou loves me like a brother at least. If I die then I’ll be hurting him again.* Bakura whispered in his head.
*Can you forgive me again
I don't know what I said
But I didn't mean to hurt you*
Bakura began to move over to Ryou. He was a little happier knowing that Ryou still cared for his well being. Bakura smiled at Ryou and began to quicken the pace. Ryou sighed a relief and waited for Bakura to reach him. Fate had other things in store for them and it ended in a freak accident. At that moment a drunk driver decided to speed down the same lane with Bakura in. Bakura never knew what to do. He just froze with fear and looked ahead as the car began to get unconformable close to him. He gulped as he stared ahead hoping fate wouldn’t be so cruel. Before he knew what was going on the jeep slammed in to him and didn’t stop until Bakura was pinned between a light post and the jeep.
Everyone looked on in horror as the jeep hit the post with a loud sickening crash followed by a howl of pure pain. Ryou was the first to react as he ran with full speed and force to the sight. He was followed by Yugi and Yami. Soon the others began to run to the sight. Ryou stopped and looked at the sight before him. The red jeep was smashed against the pole with such force. The pole itself looked as if it were to break at any moment. The hood of the car was completely torn away and the engine exposed to the world. Between the wrecks was Bakura. Blood covered his entire lower half and most of his face. He looked as is he was sleeping. Ryou preyed that Bakura would open his eyes and say something. God must have heard his prayers because at that moment Bakura opened his eyes and smiled.
“Hi, Ryou.” Bakura said that made fresh salty tears stream down Ryou’s face. Sirens could be heard in the background but he didn’t care. He knew that Bakura would not be able to survive like this. He had seen accidents where a person would be stuck against a tree with a car pinning them to it and they never survived. Bakura smiled and looked over to Yugi and Yami. Their faces full of pain and pity for their friends. Many people that had gathered around all had tears in their eyes. It was amazing that he was talking like a normal person. As if nothing had happened and that he’d be alright.
“Hi, Bakura. Can... Can you feel anything?” asked Ryou snapping out of his trace. Ryou preyed to god that Bakura felt nothing. He didn’t want his friend to have to suffer. He knew it wouldn’t help much either for Bakura. Ryou looked on with hope. He wanted everything to be alright and they could go back living their normal lives again and be a family.
“No. I can’t feel a thing in my lower half. Ryou, am I going to die.” Asked Bakura with shimmering eyes. Tears poured out of Ryou’s eyes as he heard a question he could not and would not answer. He knew Bakura would catch him if he lied. He didn’t want that. He wanted these last minuets of his life to be as peaceful and remember able as they can get. Many people looked on at the seen with their own tears falling to the cold hard ground. All of them were praying for a miracle that the young teen would be alright. Yugi wept in Yami’s arms as he too had tears shinning in his eyes.
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.” Answered Ryou after some time. Bakura nodded and leaned against the jeep. He looked as the sirens grew nearer and nearer. So many people were shoved aside so the medics could get to the wreck. They took one look at the sight before them and shook their heads. They to had hoped that it would only be miner. Ryou was shoved aside as the paramedics went to Bakura and looked him over. One of the medics was looking over the diver who had still been in the front seat. By the shaking of the head he could tell that the man was dead.
“Excuse me, sir. But do you know this young man?” asked a medic and Ryou nodded. The medic sighed and led him away from the sight and looked at Ryou with pity. He knew it was something bad. He knew that the horrible news was coming and he had no one there to hold him and let him cry. He had no crying shoulder.
“My name is David and the look of your brother is not pleasant. He is pinned from the waist down. The jeep is holding him together. I’m sorry but this is going to be the last time you will ever speak with him.” David spoke in a caring and gentle tone. Ryou nodded and walked back to the sight leaving a medic behind.
Ryou quickly went over to Bakura and held his hands. Bakura knew the look in Ryou’s eyes meant he was going to die. Actually he knew it from the start. Ryou smiled at Bakura and gave him a kiss on the cheek and wiped away some of his tears. Bakura smiled and ran a hand through Ryou’s hair. He loved doing that, the way it was so soft and silky like made him want to sit there all day and run his hands throw the alabaster hair.
*I heard the words come out
I felt that I would die
It hurts so much to hurt you*
“Ryou I want to say sorry for everything. I didn’t mean to make your past a living hell. I was just so jealous of you getting all the attention and leaving me left out in the cold. I never meant any of the things I said and I’m really, really sorry.” Ryou nodded and placed another kiss onto the pale flesh. Bakura’s skin was getting colder which meant the time for saying the final good-bye was coming soon. Bakura looked over at Yami and Yugi and smiled. They forced a smiled to the surface but let it fall quickly.
“I’m sorry to the two of you for putting a dear friend of your in a lot of danger all the time. I never meant to hurt you... any of you. I never really thought the thing I was doing was bad. That was the way I was brought up so I didn’t know how to react. I’m so very sorry. Ryou, I’m leaving everything to you. You may do as you like with my stuff and tell the others that I’m sorry.” Bakura said as his breathing became harder and harder. Ryou felt the last of his tears fall as he looked at Bakura.
“Could you ever forgive me?” asked Ryou as Yugi and Yami walked over to them. Bakura smiled and closed his eyes. Darkness was getting harder and harder to fight off. He didn’t want to break the thin ice but he couldn’t help it. It was breaking every second that past. Ryou smiled and gave him a hug while he whispered something he couldn’t believe.
“I love you. I all was will. You can let go now Bakura. Let go, please.” Ryou whispered into Bakura’s ear and felt more tears gather. A moment later Bakura closed his eyes and stopped breathing. Ryou hugged the now lifeless body as he began to shake with violent sobs. Yami looked away in shame as he took Yugi away from the sight. Many other people were crying on their own. Why? Only god would know.
*Then you look at me
You're not shouting anymore
You're silently broken*
