Unforgiven

Honda stared at the ring on his finger the whole way home.

He didn't know why, but what Kaiba had said about it 'never being real' bugged him.

"You alright, Hiroto-chan?" Kaiba said, breaking the silence.

"Huh? Yea, sorry, I've just been thinking..."

"I know, you've been so quiet. You worry me when you get this way..."

"No, nothing to worry about, Seto-chan, I was just thinking about something you said..."

"??"

"About this 'never being real' thing. I know you meant legal, but..."

"Hiroto," Kaiba started, taking Honda's hand and placing it on his heart, "Is this real enough?"

At first he didn't know how to respond and just stared at his hand on Kaiba's chest; the hand with the ring.

"I-I'm sorry. Of course this is real...", Surreal anyway.

"You aren't sorry you accepted, are you?"

"O-of course not!" he grabbed Kaiba up and sat him on his lap, "I'm just... I wonder how everyone will take it..."

"I-I'm sure they'll be fine with it..." he said into his chest to cover up his smile, "Haven't they always said they'd be behind you no matter what?"

"Yea, but this..."

"Besides, as much as this pains me, it's not legal. It's for us."

"You're right! I shouldn't worry!"

"I just wish I could spend the day recuperating with you tomorrow..."

"Why do you have to go back so soon, anyway? Mokuba can't take it for one more day..."

Kaiba hadn't thought of him questioning it, so tried to think of something quick.

"Uh, well, that phone call the other day..."

"Yea..."

"I was checking up on Mokuba and he said there's an emergancy..."

"An emergancy?!"

"N-nothing to get excited over, but I am needed..."

"O-ok. Sorry."

"It's alright.", Phew!, "Have you thought about calling anyone tomorrow?"

"Why? I just want to relax! Changing time zones can kick a person in the ass!"

"I was just wondering.", Shit, I thought sure he'd call them to hang out!

"You ok?"

"Y-yea, I'm fine.", Damn it! I didn't think to ask anyone! I hope they come up with something!

"They should be home soon!" Shizuka exclaimed, "I don't think I can wait for tomorrow! Think it will be ok if we call them..."

"No!" they all exclaimed.

"We're not supposed to know, Shizuka-chan." Otogi said, taking her hand to calm her down from having the wind scared from her, "Remember?"

"Kaiba said he's 'going to the office'..." Mai recapped.

"Honda-kun will be home so we can pick him up..."

"We have to call him first so we don't seem overly anxious to see him." Mai said, "If we get too excited, he'll know we know..."

"And he'll know we're up to something." Anzu said.

"I'll call him," Jounouchi said, "Then Mai and I can pick him up and take him out, and you all just 'happen to show up'."

"Good plan." Otogi said, "Now we can only hope we can get him out without him suspecting anything..."

Kaiba was quick to get out the next morning. Honda hadn't heard a thing til his cell pone - suspiciously placed by his head - went off.

"Ow! Ow! The hell?!" he mumbled, "H-hello?"

"What? I wake you?" Jounouchi laughed, "Get up, pal, we're goin' out!"

"Are you insane? We just got back lastnight... late lastnight and I just want to rest..."

"Yea, yea... no! Get up! Mai and I are on our way to get you..."

"Why?! Just one day of rest is all I ask!" he begged.

"Look, we missed you! I know for a fact your 'workoholic' hu-boyfriend is at work so we're getting you out!", Oh man, I hope he didn't catch that!

He didn't. But Mai did. She smacked her forehead then gave Jounouchi a quick smack.

"Ow, damn it woman!"

"What the hell is going on, Jounouchi...?" he asked angrily.

"Ha! Nothing, I just... we're on our way, like it or not!"

"Fine. I can promise I won't be in a good mood..."

"Promises, promises! Just be ready, we're almost there and we'll get plenty of coffee into ya!"

"Fine." he said flattly and slapped his phone shut.

He slowly sat up and tried to shake the exaustion from his body.

As he started to get into the shower, his conversation with Jounouchi suddenly hit him.

Did he almost say 'husband'?
