Chapter 18: Bitter Feelings
Yugi goes back into his room and lays down.
'So...it was true. I thought he was lying when he told me about what had
happened to our past relationship.'
Tears began to drop on the pillow.
'It's starting to make sense now...even though I still don't remember
anything. I understand why Kaiba said what he said that day and why
mom is so iffy towards him sometimes.'
Yugpes pes his face with his arm.
'Does me really love me? Or is he just lusting after me? Trying to
relight what we previously had.'
"No...I can't believe it...he truly loves me. Nothing really happened
between us before the accident..."
Yugi cries himself to sleep.
Yami comes up and gets into bed. He looks at Yugi whose pillow is wet
and his face has tear stains. The conversation pops immediately into his
head.
'He was asleep...maybe he just had a sad dream or something...'
Yami turns off the lamp and cuddles close to Yugi.
'Ra, please don't let anything change between us. I love you, aibou.'
Yami kisses Yugi's forehead and falls asleep.
"Yami? Yami?" Yugi says shaking him.
He opens his eyes and looks at Yugi who is shaking. Yami jumps up.
"What's wrong?" He says as he sees Yugi scoot by him.
"Bathroom..." Yugi says as he slides off the bed.
"I can carry you..." Yami says as he stands up.
"Nah, don't bother. I can do it." Yugi says taking a rod and turning on
the bathroom light.
'Still determined to do things on his own, no matter what the
situation is. You are still strong and independent, aibou.'
Yami lays back down and hears as the toilet flushes and the water
run for a moment. A minute or so later, he feels tugging on the
sheets.
"What is it?" Yami says as he peeks at Yugi sitting on the floor.
Yugi looks innocently at Yami then extends his arms towards him.
Yami smiles and picks Yugi up.
'As tough as he may seem, he's still needs a little help sometimes.'
"Yami...?" Yugi says hesitantly.
'Huh...no 'Another I' today?'
"I was wandering something. Was what you and mom talked about
last night...is it really true?"
Yami could feel his heart drop into his stomach and corrode in the
acid.
"Uh...umm."
"Don't beat around the bush."
Yami looks at Yugi and sees the seriousness in his eyes.
Yami sighs. "It's true."
"I can't get mad. I really don't know what went on between us.
Besides, we have a new life together now. Let's just enjoy it."
"Aibou." Yami says tears threaten to fall from his eyes.
Yugi senses this and hugs Yami. The tears fall from his eyes.
"Mou hitori no boku...I don't care what happened to us before.
If it was that bad between us, then I don't want to get my
memories back. I want to continue to live like this with you,
happily with you. I want to keep my amnesia." Yugi says.
Yami wipes the tears from his eyes as they continue to flow.
'I can't believe he wants to keep his amnesia.'
"It's still early, let's go back to sleep, ok." Yugi says as
he lays his head on Yami's chest.
Yami runs his hands through Yugi's hair, playing with his blonde
strands, making it look similar to his. He hears Yugi's soft breathing
and sighs.
'If we can only keep it like this, forever.'
Tears form in Yami's eyes once again flo flow down his face.
'If I'm so happy now, why do I feel so guilty about it all?'
He sighs then closes his eyes.
~~Next Morning~~
Yami wakes up early and nudges Yugi.
"Uh? Huh? What? It's not time for school yet okaa-san!"
Yami chuckles at Yugi's senseless rants. Yugi loooks at
him, curiously.
"Huh?" Yugi says.
"You were talking in your sleep."
Yugi's face turns a shade of red.
"Do you have to go?" asks Yami.
"No. I don't. But I do want to go and eat some breakfast. I
smell waffles."
They get up. Yami helps Yugi put on his legs then they walk
out the room.
"I'm so glad to be with you, mou hitori no boku." says Yugi
as he skips down the stairs.
'I'm glad to be with you too, aibou.' Yami says.
Suddenly a thud is heard. Yami looks to see Yugi laying at the
base of the stairs. He runs down.
"Aibou?! Yugi?!" Yami says picking him up.
Mrs. Mutou runs from the kitchen to see her son laid out at
the base of the steps.
