A Year With You

Yugi honestly hoped he wasn’t hallucinating. He knew Jou had feelings for Kaiba and was fairly sure they were returned to some extent. He just didn’t expect to see his best friend making out with Kaiba in the middle of the hall. Well, he didn’t expect to see Kaiba and Jou making out ever. He saw Kaiba too prude for that. He looked to Yami for help but his dark stood staring at Jou and Kaiba with a dumbfounded look stretched across his features. He quickly covered the giggle that threatened to escape with a cough. Jou pulled away and looked at him grinning, taking Kaiba by the hand and dragging him over. “Yug’ guess what?” His friend glowed with joy as he smiled with kiss swollen lips. “Um, you and Kaiba are dating?” He asked his voice caught between a squeak and a rasp. Jou nodded looking at the brunet with adoration.

Jou smiled at his two best friends, tightly holding his boyfriend’s hand. Yami glared at Kaiba, dragging the brunet off with a swift. “We need to talk.” He watched with furrowed brows and turned to Yugi who was watching his yami with a careful expression. “You’re not thrilled about it, are you?” He asked softly and Yugi shrugged looking at him. “Jou, as long as you are happy I’m happy. I know you told me how you felt about him, I just wasn’t expecting you to jump him.” He laughed scratching the back of his head. “I didn’t jump him, Yug’…well I kind of did but…well, um, you see I was giving him a massage and he was all open and vulnerable, so I kissed him. It was just a small little kiss, but he pulled me down and kissed me like the world was ending. I love him, Yug’.” His best friend sighed and patted his arm. “I know, Jou. Does he feel the same?” He nodded slowly and sighed deeply. “I think so. I mean, he’s not the type to go off and blurt such words recklessly but I think he does. I mean, he told me what he wanted, which is a lot more than a lot of people can do. We are taking things slow. Basically, kissing is as far as we’ve gone but I’m addicted to kissing him. Yug’, you wouldn’t believe the way he tastes and smells. It’s like nothing I’ve ever had. It’s sweet, spicy and subtle just like he is.” He sighed softly, looking back to where Yami dragged off his lover. Yugi laughed at him and he gently punched his friend in the arm.

Yami dragged Seto under the stairs and slammed the brunet into the wall. He heard Kaiba’s scull impact with the wall and he couldn’t help but flinch. Blue eyes that burned with a rarely seen fire narrowed into a lethal glare. “You better not be fucking with Jou.” He growled and Kaiba gave him a dark smirk that made him shiver. “I assure you that your fears are ill placed. I care for Jou. You think you are so righteous protecting your friend.” Kaiba bent lower so a hot mouth trembled by his ear. “Have you ever considered that maybe the one who needs protection isn’t Jou?” Kaiba pulled away and he saw a darkness that could never be expelled. He also saw that Kaiba would never hurt any one but himself. The brunet turned making a graceful exit. He stood shuddering at what secrets he saw buried beneath blue eyes.

Seto walked back slowly rubbing his head, sighing at the lump he felt. He didn’t think poorly of Yami and he didn’t want Jou to think badly of his friend. However, he knew Jou would feel the lump so he had to start thinking of a story now. He turned the corner and Jou leaped into his arms kissing him deeply. Slim fingers ran though his hair and he flinched as the bump in his head was rather roughly bumped by Jou’s hand. Jou pulled away gold eyes filled with concern. “What happened?” Jou asked, gently rubbing his head. “Yami took me under the stairs and I misjudged the slant height relative to mine and smacked my head.” Jou pouted kissing him tenderly. He smiled kissing his puppy back. “My poor Dragon. Do you need to go to the nurse?” He shook his head which made spots dance slightly in his vision. “No I’m fine, pup. So I’m dragon now?” Jou flushed and nodded. He gently cupped his pup’s face kissing him softly. “I like it.” Jou gave him a thousand watt smile and he took a warm hand in his own.

Seto escaped to the fresh air as soon as the lunch bell chimed. He felt sick. His head was pounding with a relentless ferocity. He leaned heavily against and ancient oak breathing in deeply the sweet scents of earth. The day was warm but the shade cooled him to some degree. Warm lips captured his in a soft kiss. His eyes fluttered open never realizing he had closed them. Jou smiled stroking soft lines down his face. “How’s the head?” He gave a weak smile, capturing Jou’s hand and kissing it softly. “I’m fine, pup.” His puppy frowned but said nothing. He kissed Jou softly, enjoying the quiet with his puppy for even a small moment.

Honda’s vision went red as he watched Kaiba kiss a pouting Jou. He knew the man was a royal ass that was expecting more from his friend than Jou could handle. He stormed over punching the pampas CEO in his smug face. Kaiba went down with his sudden surprise attack. He felt a grin stretch over his face until a fist connected solidly with his jaw. “Hon’ what the fuck is wrong with you?” Jou was down slowly helping Kaiba off the ground. “Seto, are you ok? Did he hurt you?” The brunet slowly brushed himself off and gave Jou a small flick of a smile. “Only my pride is wounded.” Jou shot him a lethal glare and he leaped to his feet. “Jou, he’s using you. You can’t be his fuck toy jus’ ‘cause you owe him some money.” The look his best friend gave him was one of blind fury. “Honda, you know as well as I do that I will never ever be some one’s fuck toy. Seto and I are dating…as of yesterday. If you ever lay a finger on him again, I will hurt you.” He stood stunned that his friend would choose Kaiba over him.

Seto was standing waiting for the stars to clear from his vision when he suddenly felt the violent urge to be sick. He swallowed the bile rising to his mouth grabbing his puppy’s arm for support as the world suddenly turned on its side. “Seto, are you ok?” He couldn’t answer in fear of throwing up nor could he shake his head. Another set of strong arms latched on to him. “Don’t worry we have you. Jou, lets get him to the nurse.” Otogi’s smooth voice cut in. He wanted to nod in agreement, but all he could do was concentrate enough to move one foot in front of the other.

Jou waited, pacing the hospital lobby. The nurse deemed Seto bad enough to warrant a visit to the emergency room. Mokuba looked cool and collected while talking to Kaiba’s secretary, who was deciding on if she should kill Honda or Seto. He knew his vote but held back his tongue. As soon as he knew Seto would be alright he wouldn’t be as mad at his friend. For now he was livid and worried. He knew things with Kaiba were moving a tad fast but he knew it was right. He and Kaiba fit together. Seto’s private doctor came out with a smiled and Seto. “He’s fine. Just a concussion. It looks like your friend just aggravated it.” Dr. Yushidou said softly, looking at Mokuba who nodded. “Take him home and make sure he gets plenty of fluids that he can keep down and don’t let him sleep for at least twelve hours.” Mokuba nodded shaking the man’s hand. “Thank you, doctor.” The doctor left and a nurse wheeled a very pissed looking Kaiba out to them.

Seto glared at the nurse, who glared right back. He huffed and turned glaring at nothing. “You stubborn ass.” His brother growled, glaring at him. “I didn’t give my self a concussion, Mokuba.” His brother’s brows rose to his hair line. “Really? Personally, I think if you went to go see the nurse before Honda punched you, we wouldn’t be here.” He glared at his brother, muttering under his breath. “Yeah, I just would have been here after Yami tossed me into the wall.” His brother gave him a puzzled look. “Yami tossed you into a wall? I thought you smacked your head on the stairs.” Jou said softly and he sighed. “You actually believed that? He’s too smart to do something that stupid….no, no I would buy that because he’s a down right dumb ass.” His brother turned and stomped off. He looked to Jou, who smiled and kissed him softly. “He’s just worried. But he’s right you are a down right dumb ass today.” He nodded leaning into his puppy. “I’m sleepy.” He mumbled.

Jou lay gently stroking Seto’s hair, while his lover attempted to stay awake. Mokuba was talking to Honda on the phone. He wasn’t ready just yet to talk to his friends. He wished he knew earlier that Yami tossed Seto into a wall. Yugi had called to see how Seto was and he told his best friend what he thought happened. Seto didn’t say anything about what happened so he left his best friend to get it out of his Yami. He heard Mokuba hang up the phone and looked up at the young boy. “Honda spent the whole time apologizing. Otogi took over the phone and he said that they are taking the three of us out for dinner when Seto is feeling better. As for tonight, Kentaro is bringing us dinner.” He blinked wondering about Kentaro. “Jou, he’s asleep.” He blinked again, looking down and gently tapping his lover awake. “Mokie, who is Kentaro?” He asked, dreading the thought of Seto having an ex-boyfriend. “Oh Kentaro is Chisa’s, Seto’s secretary, husband. He owns a restaurant that Seto helped him get started. They became really close friends. He and Chisa are two of Seto’s true friends. In fact, it was Seto who introduced them. Jou, he’s asleep again.” He looked down and stroked Seto’s face looking to Mokuba. “He looks so sweet, I hate to wake him.” Mokuba crawled across the bed leaning to his brother’s ear and yelling. Seto jolted awake, then snuggled back into his lap.

Jou smiled as he opened the door to Seto’s lovely secretary and her equally lovely husband. If everything about Chisa’s was soft and feminine, her husband was just the opposite. He was pure masculinity. His jaw was square and defined. His body was well built. Over all, he was a beautiful man. “How’s Seto?” Chisa asked, shoving past him as her husband bowed slightly and fallowed silently after his wife. He now saw why the two got along so well. He turned closing the door, going over to his boyfriend, who seemed more awake. Kentaro smiled at him and he felt himself blush. “I’m glad Seto found someone.” He smiled looking at the man he loved and kissed him tenderly. “I’m glad I found him.” The man nodded setting food out and his stomach let out a loud growl.
