Falling To Pieces

"You what?! Why?!" Mokuba cried, "How could you just let him go like that?!"

"For his own saftey..."

"For his... I don't believe that! You know you can protect him better if he's with you! They know who he is! They can get him..."

Kaiba raised his hand to stop him. He was right; he could protect him better if he were close, but it was too late now.

"He's gone, Mokuba. I'm sorry, but..."

"You really don't think he'll come back? Ever?"

"How could he want me back after finding me... well..."

"In case you didn't notice, he didn't seem to care..."

"..."

"He still loves you! He left that girl sitting in the cafe to save you..."

"Save me?"

"Yes, save you; from doing something you would regret..."

"I-I wouldn't have regreted anything!"

"Liar. You regret everything about the other night and letting Honda go, or you wouldn't be sulking..."

"I am not sulking!"

"You are..."

Kaiba could feel a migrane froming in the back of his neck. He decided it would be best to just walk away, before he said, or did, anything he and Mokuba would regret.

Mokuba tried to stop him, but again he simply raised his hand and waved him off as he exited the kitchen.

He's right., he thought as he stared at his reflection, then shot down two asprin, I can protect him better if he's with me. But it's too late now. He hates me. Might have even gone back to that girl., "How could I be so stupid?!" he yelled at his reflection before putting his fist into it.

Honda couldn't think of anywhere to go.

Jounouchi's was out, he was terrified of Jounouchi-san.

Anzu would drive him nuts.

Yugi and his ojiisan would probably take him in...

Mai... no.

All would go back to Otogi, who he knew he could never face again.

For that matter, how could he face anyone after what he did to Otogi.

Gods, Anzu and Mai would lecture me to death... and Shizuka... she'd hate me!

After careful elimination of all his 'former friends' - and his parents - there was only one place he could think of where he could go and not get lectured, for that matter, he may even just get ignored.

Here I come sis. Your little bro screwed up too., he thought as he gassed up his bike and set off on the two day trek to his sister's.

"Anyone seen Honda-kun?" Miho asked, to the surprise of everyone who assumed she would hate his guts.

"No, sorry Miho..." Anzu said, then leaned over to Otogi who was resting his head on his desk, blankly staring at his pencil as if it were some great invention, "Otogi, have you seen..."

"No, I haven't." he answered shortly, "Excuse me, I have to... well, go..."

The friends watched as he staggered out of the classroom.

That morning when he woke to find Honda gone effected him more than he bargained for. He thought if he could get just one chance with him he'd be happy, but it was not to be.

He didn't even look like himself; his hair down, no head band. Not even his trade mark eye-liner.

"Otogi-kun seems awful upset about something." Yugi observed.

"Ah, he probably got into a fight with Shizuka or something." Jounouchi said, then added, "If he made her cry I'll..."

"Please, Jounouchi, she can take care of herself." Anzu said, "Then again, have they ever had a fight before..."

"Honda-kun was staying with him." Miho stepped back after realizing what she had just said. She had promised Honda, and Otogi, she wouldn't say anything, but she couldn't seem to keep it in any longer, "Oh, I-I shouldn't have..."

"Wow, they kept that secret pretty well." Jounouchi said, "Uh, they... he..."

"I'm sure it wouldn't have been any different had he stayed with you, Jounouchi-kun. He's not attracted to you, or Otogi..."

"Phew... I guess..." he said relieved, and a little insulted.

"No, they wouldn't have!" Miho said, only half convinced, which the others seemed to pick up on.

"Um, maybe one of us should get Otogi? He's been gone a while..." she got up to get him when she was suddenly stopped at the door by a tall, foreboding figure.

"Have any of you seen Honda?"

"N-no, Kaiba-kun, sorry." Miho said, only to be ignored.

"We were just wondering where he was too..." Yugi said.

"I ran into Otogi. I-I... I really need to speak to him, so if you see him..."

"Ok, Kaiba, no problem..." Jounouchi said before adding under his breath, "Not like he'd talk to ya anyway."

Kaiba nodded and left for his own class, leaving the others wondering what Otogi would have told him.

"That's it! We have got to talk to Otogi!" Anzu announced, "He probably knows where Honda is..."

"No offense Miho, but you didn't sound too convinced, so you do think they..." Jounouchi wondered.

"Did." Came a soft, sob choked voice from behind him. Otogi had his eyes secured to the floor, his bangs falling over his entire face.

Everyone just stared in disbelief. Jounouchi was another story.

"You cheated on my sister... with Honda?! I'll kill you!" he lunged for the unflinching boy only to be pulled down by Anzu and Yugi.

"It's not like that! And, well, he started it, and obviously it meant nothing cause he's gone, and no, I don't know where."

"How could Honda-kun do somthing like that?" Miho wondered aloud, "It just doesn't sound like him!"

"No, it isn't like him," Jounouchi said, "At least not before he got with Kaiba."

"You think Kaiba-kun turned him into a slut... what?" eveyone took a double take at Yugi.

"Did you just...? Nevermind... I may have an idea of where he's gone." Jounouchi said.

He had just enough time to explain how things went down with his sister and how she moved so far away.

As he explained, no one had even thought to check for anyone listening in on them; Kaiba had been standing outside the door of the classroom, hoping for someone to give a lead to where the man he loved dissapeared to.

I know why he did what he did with Otogi... Kaiba thought, His sister? She lives at least a two day drive from here. Too long., then decided he didn't feel well, so had himself excused so to hop his helicopter to his love's sister's.

Please hold on, love!, "I was wrong!"

This bike really sucks on gas, or I really do ride it too hard!

Honda had already stopped for the fourth time to gas up and he had only been riding half a day.

He tried to keep mundane thoughts and songs in his head; nothing to remind him of Kaiba, or anything he had done.

The tank was just about full when a strong breeze nearly knocked both Honda and his bike to the ground.

"What the hell?!" he looked up to see a very familiar helicopter trying to land, Oh no, no! The hell is he thinking?!, "Leave me alone!" he yelled as he fought the wind from the blades, jumped on the bike and tried to speed off when Kaiba jumped from the copter and landed right in front of him causing him to slam the brakes.

"Are you insane?! You could have been killed!" he scolded.

"Maybe." he said softly as he cautiously approached his love.

"Look, just... keep back, ok? Leave me alone..."

"Please, hear me out?"

"What?! No!" he tried again to ride off, but Kaiba was firmly planted infront of the bike, holding the handles so tightly, his knuckles were practically breaking skin; a combination of trying to hold Honda, and any possible outburst, back.

"Please listen to me. If you don't like what I have to say, fine, go. I just ask this one chance, and I'll leave you alone."

Honda had to think a minute; he knew he wasn't going to like what he had to say, but what was the harm in letting him make a fool of himself? About time the great CEO was humbled.

"Fine. This one chance; say what you have to and let me go."

"Mokuba told me you didn't care about having found me with Scott the other night..."

"Yea, I did, I just... I loved you, and I knew you didn't want to..."

"Yes, I did..."

"What?! So you want to go back to being the coorporate slut?! Fine, go..." he got up to leave, only to be pulled down again, "Get off...!"

"That's not it at all..."

"So you have feelings for him?! Why the hell are you telling me this?!"

"I was with him because... he reminded me of you."

"?!?!"

"I wanted to forget you and I thought being with someone would help, but when I saw him... I was just kidding myself..."

"So you want me, but you can't..."

"About that; I was wrong!" he cried, "So wrong! I-I miss you so much and... I can protect you better if you are with me..."

"Hmph."

"?!?!"

"So you're wrong and you want me back? Did you think it will be that easy?"

"I-I know... I have a lot to make up for..." he sobbed.

"Ha! I see! You come crawling back; very uncharacteristically mind you, thinking since I know this is probably the hardest thing in the world for you; admitting you're wrong, and crying and apologizing, promising you'll make it up to me and I would just fall over you and 'Yes, Seto-chan! I want you back!'..." Honda could feel himself about to cry. He knew this was hurting Kaiba, it was hurting him, but he wasn't about to make it easy; as far as he was concerned, Kaiba didn't deserve ease.

"I-I know..."

"Do you?! I don't think so..."

"Let me finish! You said you'd hear me out!" he growled through his sobs, "I know why you ran and it's not just because of me...!"

"?!"

"Otogi..."

"What?! He... he didn't..."

"He told me; you had been with that girl, and how it made you realize who you were..."

Oh, gods! Scared me for a minute there!, he sweated, No way Otogi would tell him about us!

"I guess I should thank her for that..."

"Why?"

"Because he said it made you realize you belonged with me."

"I-I... well, so what?! Doesn't matter now, does it..."

"Yes, it does. Hearing that meant the world to me; just like you."

"Stop it! Just shut up!"

"No. It's the truth. I love you more than anything and... and I... know..."

"??"

"He also told me about you two..."

"No way! He didn't! Did he tell..."

"Yes. Jounouchi was about to kill him..."

"Oh gods! So he's just going to... shit!"

"I know why you did it."

"Oh really, smart guy?! Then enlighten me...!"

"It's because you know I think he's attractive..."

"?!"

"And you were lonely..."

"I-I... yea... I just thought..."

"Being with someone else would help you forget?"

"Y-yes..."

"And knowing I was somewhat attracted to him... and he is attracted to you..."

"I see where you're going with this," he choked, "I understand now why you were with that guy, but I... I still can't go back..."

"Afraid to face everyone?"

"Well, yea! I took total advantage of him... Otogi! One of my best friends and... and the boyfriend of another friend's sister! Gods, I can never forgive myself and I don't blame them if they never forgive me!"

He fell into Kaiba chest and sobbed hard.

Kaiba didn't want to embarrass him, so said nothing about it being the first time he cried infront of him. He just held him close, still not sure if this would be the last time.

"I think they will understand."

"..."

"I know this will sound strange coming from me, but I don't think you give them enough credit sometimes..."

"?!"

"Come home with me. You don't have to go back to school right away; I'll take care of that."

"K-Kai... Seto, I want to..."

"??"

"I'll come home!" he exclaimed, diving farther into Kaiba's chest, "I love you so much!"
