A Year With You

Yugi watched as his best friend repeatedly hit his head against his locker mumbling something incoherently. He wanted to comfort Jou, but he had no idea what was wrong. He looked to Yami for help but his darker half just looked amused. He looked to Mokuba who just looked tired. He looked around to the rest of the gang and their expressions ranged from bafflement to delight. Granted anytime some one was in pain Malik and Bakura always looked delighted. “Jou, tell us what’s wrong.” Jou paused long enough to look at him then gold eyes flicked to Mokuba and his friend went back to banging his head. “Mokuba, where is Nagi?” The little raven haired boy blinked at him and slowly walked off. Ryou and Marik dragged their Yami’s off and Honda, Otogi, Anzu, and Shizuka made themselves scarce. He walked over to his friend touching Jou’s back gently. “Jou, tell me, what’s wrong?” His friend sighed leaning with his forehead pressed to his locker. “It’s Kaiba.” Yami let out a soft sound that was his self righteous I-told-you-so sound. “What about Kaiba? Did you two get in a fight?” His friend glanced at him and turned sliding down to the floor. It was really early so the halls were fairly empty. He sat next to his friend and Jou just sighed. “No, we didn’t have a fight. Kaiba is great as usual, which is the problem.” He rose a curious brow but didn’t want to push his friend. Jou would tell him on his own time. “Yug’ I think I’m falling for him.” Jou pulled his knees up to his chest and draped his arms over them looking like a forlorn puppy. He nodded slowly not really understanding. “What’s the problem?” Jou looked at him then a blond head dropped between his arms.

Jou sighed shoving his fingers into his hair and growling at himself. He was in love with Kaiba and his friend was being stupid. “Yug’ that is the problem. He’s my friend and he’s given me more than I can ever thank him for. I don’t want to screw things up because my hormones suddenly up and decided they wanted him.” His friend gently patted his knee and he flicked it eyes to Yugi. “Jou you have to decide if the possibility of an honest loving relationship with Kaiba is worth the possibility of losing him.” He looked at his friend for a long time, thinking about what it might be like to actually be with Kaiba. Technically they were already dating which was one small detail his friends didn’t know. Kaiba had asked for nothing but some cuddling and kisses on the cheek. He loved those things and he wanted more. However, the thought of losing the brunet made him ache all over. “Yug‘ , I’d do anything not to lose him. I-I-I love him. I love him? Oh God I’m in love with him.” He let out a miserable groan letting his head fall back between his arms.

Yugi was oddly amused. Jou was in love and it terrified his friend. He was fairly sure Kaiba had feelings for Jou, after all the CEO wouldn’t let just anyone live in his house. He wanted to help his friend and Kaiba. “Jou if you are in love with him, then isn’t the possibility of what you could have, worth the risk?” Jou looked at him for a long moment then looked down tears filling his eyes. “Yug’ I can’t lose him ever. It’s because I love him that I can’t lose him. Yug’ what the hell do I do?” He sighed unsure of what to say when something struck him. “Flirt!” Jou gave him a puzzled look and he smiled brightly. “Flirt with him, Jou! If he is open to the possibility you’ll know and you’ll have more of him. If he isn’t, then you’ll know that too with out losing him.” Jou just stared at him with his head cocked. “Flirt?” His friend looked off into space and nodded smiling. “Flirt. It just might work.” He smiled and stood as the first bell chimed. “Headed to class?” He asked and Jou smiled at him looking at the time. “Nah, I’m gonna wait for Seto. He should be here any second.” He nodded walking off.

Seto breezed into the school shortly after the first bell. Jou was waiting for him at his locker and he smiled at his puppy till he saw the large red spot on his head. “Jou, what happened to your head?” The blond gave a puzzled look and he stepped forward lifting up blond bangs. “Oh that? Well, I hit my head on my locker. No biggie it doesn’t even hurt.” He nodded slowly releasing Jou when suddenly his puppy was pressed closer to him and sniffing him. “You smell good.” He blinked and nodded stepping back and grabbing his books. “Thank you, pup. We should get to class.” Jou nodded and they headed off. He was rather confused by his puppy’s odd behavior.

ChoCho: Thanks for the input I’ll keep it in mind. Sorry if things are kind of confusing. Just know that who ever I start the paragraph out with is usually the he I usually am talking about. I’ll try to fix things but it may take me a while to work it out. So thanks of the suggestion it was helpful.
