Yes, my dears,
finally, finally, Kaiba has arrived(sweatdrops, as Seto fanclubs go into
full-fledged celebration mode^^°). He might be a little OOC, but I hope, he’s
still close enough to canon. Lots of babble in this chappie, action will follow
sooner or later, oh, and no Kanashimi in this one…don’t worry, he’s just taking
a short break, and will be back in time to cause trouble for both Jou and
Kaiba, so sit back, enjoy and please R&R!

Rolling his
eyes, Jou huffed:
“Kaiba,
what are you doing here?”
One
delicate eyebrow was arched, otherwise, the CEO’S expression remained the same.
“I came to
pick up Mokuba from his shopping spree, if it is any of your concern. Actually,
I could ask you the same, since this place is neither close to your habitat nor
even remotely your common playgrounds.”
Looking
around, Jou noticed, Kaiba was right.
Obviously,
his mind had not been the only one wandering, and now his feet had led him to
the better part of town, precisely the Yorokobi Building*, the biggest and most
expensive mall in whole Domino City.
Shrugging,
he replied:
“Oh well, I
thought, try something else for a change, y’ know? Sides, I heard they got an
awesome arcade, and a huge sortiment of pastries, or something.”
Kaiba
smirked, as he walked towards the doors.
“Or
something.”
Jou
followed, a frown on his features.
“By the
way, how come you know where I live? I mean, even if you checked it out on the
school’s adress listing, why bother?”
Kaiba
didn’t even look at him.
“I always
like to know everything about my enemies, so I can predict their next moves and
take countermeasures for any potential danger.”
It was
Jou’s turn to cock a brow, he caught up with Kaiba and, falling in step with
this ones long strides, snarled:
“Enemies?
Last time I ckecked, I was the guy who saved your lives, moneybags!”
The CEO
cast him a cold glare, before abruptly changing the direction and, instead of
heading towards the elevators, aimed for the staircase, the blond hot on his
trails.
The stairs
were abandoned, which suited Kaiba just fine. He almost flew to the second
floor, before coming to abrisk halt, jou only barely managing to avoid a
collision with the CEO.
Swerving
around, the brunet spat:
“Ok, fine,
what do want from me, mutt? Money? An interview, where I officially declare my
gratitude towards my savior? Keep dreaming, because it’s not going to
happen, inu!”
Jou’s mouth
dropped open for all but two seconds, before he punched Kaiba in the gut.
It was a
complete instinct reaction, and not even close to being accurate or really
painful, but Kaiba doubled over, as the fist caught him unawares. He had never
thought, the blond could hit this hard.
Said one
groaned in frustration, before he muttered:
“Listen, Kaib’,
I-I’m sorry ‘bout that. I shouldn’t have punched you, but it’s your own fault.
Why the hell do you have to be so..so frustratingly stuck-up? I don’t
want your money, or anything! All I ever hoped for was some respect and maybe a
simple thanks, that’s it! Stop treating me and other folks like shit, ‘cause
without your employees, the people buying pro products, business partners,
other duelists and rivals, you’d have nobody else t’ look down on but yourself!
So quit alienating everybody with your snobby attitude, or you’ll end up even
more lonely than you already are!”
Jou’s voice
had grown louder through his rant, but he didn’t care.
He wanted,
he needed Kaiba to understand how wrong he was, treating people the way
he did.
Blue bore
into amber, and Jou took a step back, when he saw unshed tears making Kaiba’s
eyes glisten.
Kaiba was
rewarded with a tired, desolate look, one he had never seen in Jou’s eyes.
“More than
you’ll ever now, Seto. I have been fighting all by myself for my very life more
times than I care t’ count, and when I made it home, there was no one there t’
give a shit about it. I had to pick up myself, and consider myself lucky, that
I still was able to mope about my life. To be alive, at all. And even
though Honda always stood by me, there are some things, you just can’t tell
your friends, ‘cause never mind how close they are, how much you trust them,
they wouldn’t understand. You need a..anioanion, a soulmate, with whom you can
share even your deepest secrets and wishes, who understands you right..here.”
He brushed
his fingers lightly over Kaiba’s chest, right above his heart, never breaking
eye contact with the brunet.
Several
moments passed in silence, until Jou took a reluctant step back and nodded.
“See ya
‘round, Kaib’.”
He calmly walked
down the stairs, when the CEO’s voice halted him.
“Jounouchi.”
He looked
up, seeing Kaiba standing, or rather towering, at the top of the stairs,
swallowing hard.
“For all
it’s worth: thank you.”
A tender
smile crept across Jou’s features.
“Do itashimashite.”

I apologize
to every reader who was hoping for a hot make-out session in the mall, but
those staircases are really chilly to lie on-no, I won’t tell you, how
come I know that! Just take my word for it! style='font-family:Wingdings;mso-ascii-font-family:"Times New Roman";
