The morning after...
Slightly updated version for my story revamp. Ch 2 will be more of an update, posted later this week.

Jou stirred in his sleep rolling back and forth, burying himself in covers and then threw them off seconds later. There was something wrong about his bed, but he couldn’t tell what. He zoned out for a little bit only to wake up overheated. It was warm on one side of his body as if he was pressed up against something. Jou opened his eyes to see a naked chest in front of him, and not a naked chest he’d expect. It was obviously male, and reasonably muscular at that. He dreaded it, but soon searched upward to figure out who it was that he was lying next to… he found the face, it was that of Seto Kaiba’s. Jou flinched away very unsure what to think, only to be pulled closer by an arm around his waist.
Jou had no idea how he’d ended up this way, and how Kaiba would ever be willing to be this close to him. He breathed slowly feeling their stomachs touch with each breath. Soon the grip loosened upon his waist as Kaiba rolled around in the bed. Jou skooched away slowly and sat up to look around. He had to assume that he was in Kaiba’s bed room, as it wasn’t his an it was somewhere he had never been. The bed they were laying on was enormous a true California King sized bed. Everything in the room exuded “Kaiba”, it was contemporary furniture with a color scheme of white, silver and blue. Jou looked around again, he had to get out of the bed. He continued searching, realizing that he might actually be able to get out of the bed, and room, without Kaiba knowing. If he were able to do this, then maybe one of them would be spared the pain of remembering what had happened. Maybe if Kaiba woke up later remembering whatever had happened the night previous, he would think it just a dream.
Jou stood up standing on the bed, staying away from Kaiba to not disturb his slumber. As he looked again at his path, Jou moved lightly but fast. He set a foot down on the other side of Kaiba, and began shifting his weight in the same direction. Soon he realized that the placement of his foot was a horrible choice as he lost his footing and fell to the ground. Jou cried out in pain as he landed on his own foot, twisting his ankle in the process. He curled forward as he sat on the floor to cradle the foot. He felt the presence of eyes upon him, looking up to meet Kaiba’s shocked glare.
Jou felt helpless, seeing as he was completely naked he felt extremely uncomfortable as he looked back at Kaiba. “Hi…” Jou was able to whimper out, scared out of his whit’s at what Kaiba might do to him. Normally a fight with Kaiba wouldn’t bother him as he thrived upon them, but he was still in shock and pain, that he knew it wouldn’t end well. He couldn’t even stand, how well would he be able to fight.
“What the hell are you doing?” Kaiba asked, with a poor attempt of holding back his anger. Jou hesitated for a moment then told Kaiba the truth, “I really don’t know,” He said confused, as words ran out of his mouth unable to stop himself. “I just woke up, have no idea why I’m here, and decided to get out before you woke up…which failed miserably as you can see…” Jou finished trailing off and noting his ankle.
Kaiba got up quickly, noticing his own nudity he rushed to a dresser and put on a pair of boxers. Without really acknowledging Jou, he wandered about the room looking for something. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for he went back to his dresser and pulled another pair of boxers, throwing them at Jou, hitting him square in the face. He disappeared into the attached bathroom as Jou attempted to put on the boxers. Jou succeeded for the most part, but in the process dropped his foot on the floor, crying out in pain once again.
After a few minutes Kaiba emerged from the bathroom, he held something in his hands as he came over to Jou and sat on the ground with him. Kaiba grabbed Jou’s foot, and examined it. He stretched out the tendons a bit then put Jou’s foot in a 90 degree angle from his leg and bound it with the ACE bandage he’d brought from the bathroom. Once he was finished he muttered, “It’s nothing horrible, but it will probably hurt for the next week.”
Kaiba then ran around the room again and then went back to the bathroom. He closed the door this time, and Jou decided he should find his clothes. Jou spun around on the floor, sitting on his knees now. He attempted to get into a position for getting up that wouldn’t involve his foot. He found a mid-thigh high table and grabbed onto it. Jou held himself up and then planted both feet on the floor. Soon a small knock came at the door, as it opened slowly, “Hey Seto, you ok…” Came Mokuba’s voice through the door as he came into the room. He began trailing off the moment he laid eyes on Jou, wearing only boxers in his brother’s bedroom.
Jou flushed, and shuffled his eyes around the room looking for his clothes, and hoping Kaiba would come out of the bathroom soon. He kept his eyes busy for the most part, avoiding Mokuba’s gaze best he could. Unable to find his clothes anywhere, Jou’s eyes wandered back to Mokuba who was still staring at him in disbelief. The door opened from the bathroom, as Kaiba emerged in a pair of sweats. Jou now felt very underdressed even if Kaiba was half naked. Kaiba’s eye wandered to where he felt Mokuba’s staring at him in question.
“What happened?” Mokuba demanded. He didn’t seem angry, just confused, which Jou felt was more between the brothers to solve. Kaiba, almost ignored his brother as he grabbed a pair of pants and a shirt for Jou. He set the clothes down on the table that Jou had used to get up and looked back at Mokuba. “I don’t know, ok?” Kaiba said more as a statement than a question, “We’ll talk about it later.” Kaiba finished leaving his face stoic. Mokuba and Kaiba stared at each other intently, Jou’s eyes flashed back and forth between the two, trying to see who would talk first.
After a few moments of silence, Jou decided he felt like getting dressed. He picked up the pair of pants and casually put them on. Forgetting about his ankle, with all the staring going on in the room, he stupidly put it through first. As Jou went to put on the second leg he stood on his bad leg. A twinge of pain shot through his leg with the pressure and he began to fall. Kaiba moved swiftly as he caught Jou before falling too far.
“Need help, mutt?” He questioned in his usual sarcastic tone, trademark smirk on his face. “I’m fine” Jou growled back. Assuming Jou knew what he was saying, Kaiba let go. Jou hadn’t quite gotten his balance before Kaiba dropped him once again, so he fell again. This time Kaiba caught him, and disregarded their previous exchange too grab the jeans and pull them up Jou’s legs. Kaiba set Jou up-right with only the zipper and button undone. Jou blushed again, not sure what to think of Kaiba’s help, whether to see it as pity or as help plain and simple. Jou put on the shirt, a simple black turtle neck like Kaiba wore everyday underneath his crazy jackets.
He let the staring contest between the brothers continue for a few more minutes before interjecting, “Umm, although I’m loving the atmosphere here,” He joked, “I’ve got college classes in the morning…” He mumbled off hoping one of the two would listen to him. The brothers turned to look at him, Mokuba looking at him with a still uncertain and caring emotion, but Kaiba looked giving a grin. Kaiba opened his mouth to speak, only to be cut off by Jou, “Save the jokes Kaiba, I’m not as stupid as you’d like to think, and I’ve worked really hard to get where I am…I don’t think it’s worthy of your teasing.” Jou was slightly flushed knowing that Kaiba would have gone back to his ‘stupid mutt’ comments if he hadn’t said anything.
Kaiba shut his mouth in disappointment, he grabbed a shirt and headed for his door, beckoning Jou to follow. Mokuba moved his position to stand in Kaiba’s way, “You’re going to tell me what happened,” He stated, in an almost elder sibling way that only lead to Jou laughing a little.
“Fine, Mokuba. We’ll talk, but let me get Jou home first…I promise,” Kaiba said as he kneeled on the ground to talk to Mokuba more face-to-face. Mokuba disappointed nodded and moved out of the way, as Kaiba gave him a kiss to the forehead as he got up. Their relationship was different than most, but it was one of very connected siblings.
Kaiba and Jou walked down the halls, Jou falling more behind with each step. The odd limp that Jou had from trying to not put pressure on his ankle only allowed him to go so fast. The only thing that Jou concentrated on was making sure he never completely lost sight of Kaiba. Soon Kaiba stopped, Jou unsure why til he got closer. Jou looked at the grand staircase in front of them dreading the pain of going down them. Jou sighed as he took the first step down.
Kaiba looked at the boy, “Don’t be so proud. I’ll help you.” Kaiba said as he held his arms out. “I’m not trying to be that proud, but I will never be carried princess style by you…” Jou said, his words meaning to cut at Kaiba. Kaiba just laughed, as if he had expected Jou’s response. “You know there are other ways,” Kaiba said slyly as he grabbed Jou around the legs and tossed him over his shoulder.
Jou began kicking a little and punched Kaiba’s back as they went down, “I can do it myself,” He protested.
“This is so emasculating…” Jou whined as he gave up on his cause. They got to the bottom of the stairs and Kaiba set him down very gently on the ground. Kaiba walked off again, as Jou dazed for second before snapping out of it and following as fast as he could. How is it that Kaiba could be so mean one second, then so caring and gentle the next, especially to him, the ‘mutt’.
They got to a garage full of cars, about half limo’s and the other half fancy personal cars. Kaiba randomly picked one opening it up for the two of them. Jou got in and Kaiba drove off. “Go straight for a bit, then I’ll direct you from there,” Jou said knowing Kaiba needed directions. Kaiba nodded as he drove out onto the streets. About halfway though their drive Kaiba spoke up, “This stays between us right?”
“I didn’t know you had such a sense of humor Kaiba.” Jou said laughing, “Of course…I mean if I was about to sneak out this morning, I don’t know why you even need to ask.” He said as Kaiba chuckled lightly with him. Jou finished directing him the way, when they got to the apartments Jou began getting out of the car. “Ohh, please find my clothes…I kind of need them.” Jou said sheepishly. “I’ll keep yours hostage until I get those back,” He said trying to keep the conversation light. He figured Kaiba would want at least the boxers back seeing as they were a pair featuring the blue eyes white dragon versus the red eyes black dragon.
“I’ll keep that in mind as I search…I’m sorry I couldn’t find them earlier, I don’t know where they could have gone.” Kaiba replied, as he thought about the possibilities. Jou waved as Kaiba speed off, and then wondered up the stairs to his apartment. His keys were with his clothes so he was hoping his father left the door unlocked. Regardless of the countless lectures Jou had given him on locking up the apartment, it was almost always unlocked in the end.
Jou turned the doorknob, finding it unlocked. He glanced in to see his dad sleeping in his favorite chair. Jou softly walked in, quietly shutting the door, and heading to his own room. He knew his dad wouldn’t be thrilled about him being gone over night, and his shirt was sure to give that away. Jou took off his borrowed shirt, and wandered out to the kitchen to cook something. He was starving, so he’d have to do the best he could with what was available. He grabbed some left over rice and some vegetables out of the fridge and made a version of Fried rice.
It wasn’t long til his dad woke up and came out to the kitchen. He glanced twice at the shirt-less Jou, wondering about the fairly new looking jeans. He pondered for a moment knowing that Jou had spent some of his work money on new clothes, so it must just be one of those. He convinced himself that that must be the source.
The two ate in relative silence, until Jou’s dad asked, “So where were you last night?”
“Well, as you know we had a birthday party for Yugi, and it just went on really late.” Jou said simply, leaving out a few details. His dad knew there was something else, but left it be knowing it wasn’t worth it. The two had never been much of conversers, so what was said seemed a normal exchange for any given meal
Jou excused himself from the table and went to his bedroom. He laid down, he was curious what had caused this huge mess that he was now in. Thoughts ran through his head like a projector or slide show, reminding him of this morning. As he drifted off to sleep the previous nights events replayed for him.
