Tearing Pieces from the Dark

Title: Tearing Pieces from the Dark

Author: Java Green

Pairing: Yugi/Yami, Ryou/Bakura

Rating: NC-17

Warnings: Angst (am an angst slut), violence, slash, perhaps Rape

Summary: An ancient mage decides that he wants the powers of the Pharaoh for himself. But to get them he needs to separate the dark from his light and force Yami into submitting to his will…

Notes: I've watched two episodes of Yo-Gi-Oh while house sitting. I don't have cable or a DVD player at my own house…I thought it was interesting so I decided to toss out a random fic about the dark and light. As I love playing with that concept. It's one of my favorites. I have no real idea of how the show goes (2 eps don't really explain a lot), though I've read a couple fanfics and have a slightly better idea of the characters, but consider this highly AU, lol. I'd like to get all the eps and watch some day. Anyway, this is the image that smacked me in the loins when I saw yugi and yami. So…I went with it. Let's see where it goes. The warnings may change as I write, not entirely sure how this will go yet…

Genre: Romance/ Angst

Disclaimer: The characters of Yu-Gi-Oh weren't my concepts and I have no hold over them, nor can I charge for others to hold them. This fic is purely self-indulgence.

The youth moved with light steps over the paved sidewalks of Domino City. His large, bright eyes were lifted up to watch ahead of his progression and a small, sweet smile curved his lips as he traveled. A worn knapsack was hanging from his shoulders, its contents clunking rhythmically with his movements; his slight hands were lightly holding the straps on his slim shoulders.

The youth was svelte and his appearance to others would have them guess he was half his age. His face was linen white, unmarred by acne, time or hatred. His height was below average, which left him dodging out of the way of taller pedestrians in his walk. The youth seemed to be fragile in appearance, a finely crafted porcelain figurine that would most assuredly shatter if pressured too harshly. Yet, this small male possessed a soul of brawny light that radiated from his features and danced in playful innocence amid the large pools of his eyes. His loyalty and love was unwavering, his determination and purity of heart gave his small form more strength then mere muscle ever could.

Here walked the epitome of light innocence in a developed form. Quiet voice humming an upbeat tune as his feet carried him homeward from his classes. A strange pyramidal pendent that was far too large to be comfortable hung from a chain and collar about his smooth, white, throat.

Yugi's thoughts were drifting on the upcoming exams for his final year of high school. The exams themselves would be stressful but the thought of is future after high school was even more worrisome. He wasn't at all certain what to do with himself. He had applied to a number of colleges and Universities…but he wasn't sure which to choose if he got into any at all. He had no desire to leave his Grandfather or his close friends. Yugi pushed these thoughts aside as he walked on, he had two months before the exams right? He needn't start fretting about it all now.

The gentle boy was swept up uncomfortably in a large crowd of people as he headed towards a crosswalk. He was dwarfed by many and his large eyes peered upwards attempting to avoid being accidentally knocked into or have his feet stomped on. As he darted through them some looked at him. He was oblivious of the appraising looks cast over his body and the startled expressions as they regarded his bizarre hair.

A second set of eyes looking out through Yugi's on the other hand was vividly aware of the looks. The crimson eyes narrowed at the disapproving looks and narrowed even further at the looks of appraisal of his guileless hikari. The protective Yami was alert for any dangers that his aibou might stumble into unawares. He was far too trusting and naïve of the dark urges of the hearts of men. A fact that never ceased to astound the spirit. How could this sweet light soul be tied to the Shadows?

Then again, it did make sense in a philosophical way. Dark and Light need one another to exist, without light there would be no such thing as darkness. It was a balance between them hat kept harmony in the world. Thus Yami was given his light Yugi to make him whole.

They were a part of one another. Their bond was far deeper then friendship or affection or the likeness of appearance, it was fate that Yugi was born to find his way to his Yami. And Yami was determined that nothing ever happen to see them separated. He would use all his powers to keep his little aibou safe from harm and shelter him from the tainted world.

Yugi swerved from the main pedestrian traffic, hopping lightly over the curve as he yet again crossed the road. He turned at last into a quiet street and began to zip through a familiar alley that would act as a short cut home.

He stepped from the dark passage and blinked in the sun's bright light. His large violet eyes readjusting. His sweet smile still in place as he squinted into the afternoon light. He turned to continue on his way. But found himself yelping out in abrupt pain as his backside came in contact with the hard cement of the walkway.

A hand had grabbed his backpack and yanked him off his feet. He looked around dazed wondering by who and why he had been so rudely accosted. "Wh-what was that for?" He demanded quietly. The pyramid around his neck was glowing slightly as the spirit within seethed at the sudden action.

Several large figures loomed over the small one sitting on the ground. Because of the bright light of the sun and how they were standing he found himself squinting up at dark silhouettes of several burly forms. Instinctively, Yugi shuffled backwards and swallowed. His back came to press against the hot brick of a wall as he started up from his sitting position at the large figures hovering above him silently. "Wh-wh-what do you want from me?" he squeaked.

One of the figures laughed darkly with no humor in the sound. The large man came forward and squatted so that it could look Yugi in the eye. "Hello Yugi, it's very simple what I want from you. I want your powers."

Yugi's large eyes blinked in confusion. He had no idea what was going on. This was all so abrupt and startling for him. He had never seen the figure kneeling before him before in his life. He reached into his link automatically, //Yami? Who is this?// he was attempting to hold back the fear that knotted in his stomach from his friend. He didn't want to worry Yami or get him involved in this if it was possible.

//I have no idea Aibou. Just stay calm, come into your soul room and let me take care of it, ok?//

"My powers…?" Yugi vocalized. Instinctively he held the millennium puzzle close to his chest as Yami prepared to take over.

"Ah…there he is…I would love to explain more to you, but I fear I have no need of you once I have control of your better half. Say goodbye to the Pharaoh boy." The man reached out and patted Yugi on the head.

His eyes went wide and he clutched the puzzle against his chest in a death grip. "NO!"

//Yugi! Let me in! Now!//

Before Yami could move into Yugi's body and place the boy in his soul room, the figure opened his hand. The eye of Horus opened and burst to life on his palm. In a swift movement he slammed his hand against the frightened human's brow and called out a chant of pulsating power that Yami had not heard before.

Yugi was engulfed in blinding light of sinister green that burned from his forehead through his slight form. At first he was too stunned to feel anything but shock. Then he was swallowed whole in a blinding inferno of heated agony. His mouth wrenched open and a scream tore from his tender throat. His palms dug into the sharp points of the millennium puzzle drawing blood from his palms. His entire body arched and spasm as it felt like his entire insides were turned to molten flame. "YAMI!" he screamed as he felt as though he was ripped from the inside out, his chest seemed to be torn open and his innards revealed. His heart cleaved in two as his white screams continued to unconsciousness blinded in the green light.

//YUGI!// Yami's deep voice bellowed as his soul room began disintegrating around him. He had not had time to move into Yugi's body and save the youth. Panic ripped through him as the little one's pain echoed and blasted through his own core. He was driven to his knees screaming, his hands holding his head in agony as he felt as though he were being torn in two from the inside out. Yami felt as though he were being wrenched asunder fiber by tormenting fiber and then slammed together once more. All he could see was the eye of Horus glowing eerily green as the last of the soul room vanished into the blinding agony.
