Between Mind and Heart
The night was cool and crisp, the full moon was high like a nighttime guardian of the sky.
These were the nights I always loved for they made me feel at peace.
Yugi lay in blissful slumber, but sleep would not come to me, though I did not feel restless.
So I knelt next to the bed and watched him. My thoughts wouldn't leave me be, thoughts of
Yugi and all the adventures we had shared. Thoughts of Yugi's friends and how they had become my own.
They were all very dear, and Yugi was precious to me.
Perhaps I am just being selfish. Even so, I love Yugi. I do not wish to part with him.
Yugi stirred in his sleep, but did not awaken.
His lips turned slightly upward, and I couldn't help but smile at his peaceful state.
I gy bry brushed a strand of fallen hair from his face and softly kissed his forehead,
the puzzle clasped in his hands resonated with a soft, loving glow.
He sighed and whispered the word 'Spirit', clutching the item closer.
Sleep was finally inviting me to its realm, and I was grateful.
I climbed in next to him, and he reached to pull himself closer, burying his face in my chest.
"Don't leave me, Spirit," he whispered.
I rubbed slow circles over his back.
His innocence touched my heart. Slumber finally took full hold and I remember as I dozed off,
my words of comfort to him.
"I won't."
