The setting of time
(A/N: I am usually against character deaths in fanfiction but I am making this a one time exception. This fanfic is inspired by a recent yaoi I watched.)
The current setting...
It was a time of struggle, grief, and despair. The country has been divided into two by two powerful men of Egypt. One man was described as the people's man, someone who speaks for the commoners and cares greatly about the struggles of his country and the economy. And on the opposing side who very few follow and remain loyal to, is a man who rather rule his country by an iron fist and who holds such opposite beliefs. A person who rather have the people do for the government than the government do for the people.
People who wished for change followed the man known as Priest Seth. This man had demanded changes for both the people of Egypt and for Egypt's economy. He also demanded that Egypt would expand out further into the world of trading. The man who opposed against Priest Seth's beliefs was the current ruler of Egypt, Pharaoh Atem. The Pharaoh liked the way Egypt was already and did not like change. And he liked the social classes as they were. He preferred those who were born lower class stayed there and those who were born into wealth remained there.
Even though Seth was kin to Atem and was next in line to rule as Pharaoh, he broke away from the Pharaoh's alliance and retaliated. Priestess Isis and Priest Shada sided with Priest Seth as well as believing in his beliefs for a new and better Egypt. While Priest Mahad and Priest Karim remained loyal to the Pharaoh and believed in what their Pharaoh believed. It was hard for the circle of priests to disband due to beliefs and the war that was presiding. It was also heartbreaking when the mothers had to watch their husbands and sons that have came of age was drafted into war by the Pharaoh. Those who joined in Priest Seth's army had volunteered willingly with no regrets of any sort. Even the lowest of the low class which were mainly slaves were even drafted into the Pharaoh's army.

Teana a current friend to the Pharaoh who usually visits with a bright smile has today arrived to the Pharaoh with grief stricken into her eyes. "Pharaoh, is it true? Is it true you are going off to war with your soldiers to fight against that Priest of yours?"
The Pharaoh raised his hand to silence her and gave her sad smile. "It is true I will be going off to war to face Priest Seth..." He paused and noticed something else was bothering his childhood friend. "But there is something else that bothers you isn't it, Teana...?"
Teana fell to the floor of the palace on her knees with tears falling down her tan cheeks. "There is... W-We will no longer be seeing our childhood friend Jono any longer, Pharaoh..."
The Pharaoh's face grew pale slightly looking a bit disbelieved at what Teana just had said. "Explain..."
Teana nodded and looked up, gazing into Atem's eyes with so much sadness in them. "He was just sold into slavery this morning by his own father..."
Atem sat on his thrown in silence, lowering his head with his eyes closed shut fighting back any tears trying to come out. It was heartbreaking news to hear a dear childhood friend being sold into slavery. He had hoped that day would never come but it did. It came and in the of worst times as well.
He raised his head and opened his eyes keeping a calm expression on his face. "I am afraid that is life, Teana..."
Teana looked a bit more hurt when she gazed back into his amethyst eyes. The young girl was in disbelief when she could not find a single trace of sadness within his eyes. "How could you sit there knowing you lost a dear friend and will never see him again...?"
Mana a student of Mahad's stood by watching in silence from around the corner. Not too far from the Pharaoh's side stood Karim and Mahad. Both priests stood by in absolute silence watching the middle class woman talk with the Pharaoh about a measly slave.
Atem shifted his head slightly to the left, avoiding eye contact with grief-stricken girl. "I am sorry to hear such sorrowful news. But my main concern right now is the war that is going to take place soon. Please leave at once, Teana..."
His words was like a sword impaling the heart. So harsh and so cold and so bitter. She clenched her fists as tight as she could until her knuckles turned white. Anger filled her soft brown eyes, hardening them. "How could you say such cruel words, Pharaoh?!"
Mahad stepped up and stood directly near the Pharaoh, his brown eyes filled with anger as well as he glared at the younger girl. "How dare you speak in that tongue in such a manner to the Pharaoh, young lady!" His voice was loud as he sneered at Teana. "Begone at once! Or I shall remove you by force!"
Teana fled the palace of the Pharaoh's and returned to her home. She had lost the Atem she once knew as a child. He was now a bitter Pharaoh only preoccupied with his thoughts on war and his remaining court of priests.

A blond boy was tossed into a very small cage by his new slave master. His once soft brown eyes was filled with anger and rage as he glared at the old man who had bought him. The old man cracked the whip at him, hitting him right below the eye. The blond boy winced as backed into the corner, rubbing the place where he was just whipped.
The old man sneered at him before taking a swig of alcohol from his canteen. "Do not ever look at your master that way again, boy!" He cracked his whip again, this time the whip struck his shoulder.
The clothing the blond boy was slightly torn as he bled from his shoulder. His hand now held his injured shoulder as he winced more in pain. He let out a defeated sigh and accepted his fate. Though within dew time, he would only be drafted into war by the orders of the Pharaoh and forced to join his army. Life could not get possibly worse for the blond male.

Priestess Isis and Priest Shada joined Priest Seth standing beside him. From their small palace on the balcony, they watched the slaves and the low class civilians suffer. It was a horrid sight to gaze upon, neither of the three were pleased at all by what was happening.
"My heart truly aches to see the low class civilians and the slaves suffer like this..." Wept the Priestess as she clenched her chest where her heart is.
"Mark my words, I swear under Ra's name there will be great change once I defeat the Pharaoh in war." Priest Seth declared with a stoic expression yet a small trace of emotion can be found in his eyes.
"Knowing Priest Seth, he is a strong and powerful man who will lead us into victory. I have faith in the bright future that will be sure to come." A soft yet stern voice came from the Priest Shada.
"The war has not officially started yet. There is one month left before training is complete for the soldiers." Stated Seth not moving from his position on his balcony. Both Isis and Shada stood behind Seth, nodding to his words. "We may have a smaller army... But it's like they say, the bigger they are...the harder they will fall."

It was now late noon, the sun was setting in Egypt. The old man who was now the blond boy's master had fallen asleep in his wagon. Mean while the blond boy, Jono was cramped up in a small cage finding it hard to sleep in. His spirit was crushed and his brown eyes showed hurt and anger within them. He stared up into the night sky, gazing at the stars while he sat there shivering in the cold.
Foot steps can be heard in the distance, they start out soft then they became loud with the sound of authority in them. They seem to becoming closer to where Jono's cage was. The blond's attention shifted from the stars in the sky to the foot steps nearing his cage. Though he was in no position to get into a fighting stance, his brown eyes showed no fear and only anger. The foot steps stopped at his cage. The man knelt down on one knee and observed the blond boy. Jono didn't know who this man was but knew he was an authoritative figure just by the way the man dressed.
Unmoving, stern blue eyes met with those of angry brown eyes. The man's hand extend out to only touch the boy's cheek, his thumb gently caressing the injury below the eye. The blond pulled away and bit the hand that touched his cheek. The brunet smiled and chuckled softly at the boy's response.
"You have no reason to fear me. I am here to help you, young boy." The man calmly said with a hint of sincerity in his stern blue eyes.
"Why are you out in the open? Why aren't you in your palace? Why do you want to help a filthy slave like me...?" Jono shot question after question at the older man.
"I am out here because I choose to be out here. I am not alone, I have guard to watch over me." His hand extend out again to only caress the blond's injured cheek. "I am not one of the Pharaoh's lackey's here to harm you. I am here to help because I truly do care for the commoners of this country."
"H-How do you plan on freeing me...?" Asked the blond, frowning as he looked off to the side, disbelieving every word the has said.
"Like this...!" The brunet withdrew his Sennen Rod from his sash and then forcefully bashed the lock on the cage open.
The brunet stood back up on his two feet, backing away from the cage to let the boy out. The blond crawled out from his cramped cage that he was stuffed into for the entire day. Jono stretched his sore and cramped body a bit. The brunet watched him stretched with a satisfactory grin upon his face.
"Do you have a name, young boy?" Asked the man as he stepped closer to the blond with a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"My name is Jono..." The blond replied sounding a tad bit annoyed, his brown eyes carefully watching the man. "Yours...?"
"I am Priest Seth..." the Priest spoke as he stepped closer to the boy. "Would you like to come and stay with me in my palace, Jono? You won't have to worry about living as a slave anymore..."
"I...I don't know..." The blond sighed as he looked around. He shivered slightly feeling the cool wind brush by him.
"I can't guarantee you safety if you roam free in the streets." Seth said as his blue eyes scanned the younger male from head to toe. Observing every inch of him with concern. "You won't have to worry about wearing rags either or being out in the cold during the night."
"You drive a hard bargain, Priest..." Jono spoke as his brown eyes observed the older male rather quickly. The offer was too good to be true. This offer will most likely never happen again. So he decided he'll accept the offer he was getting from the Priest. "I accept your offer then, Priest. Thank you for your help."
The guard quickly hopped onto his horse as Priest Seth and Jono began to approach the brunet's horse. The Priest helped Jono up onto the horse first, then he climbed up after. Seth grabbed a hold of the reins, lightly kicking the horse, signaling the horse to go. With that, the horse galloped away into the evening. The guard on his horse following him behind.
