I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh. Nor do I profit from this story. But Olivia is mine.
My Sapphire
The sun shone down brightly upon my face. Trees, children on swings, and happy couples whizzed by me as I ran. The cool air felt good on my tanned legs and bare arms. My dark hair tugged slightly with the wind as it went from side to side. It was the first week of summer vacation and exactly one year from the Battle City Tournament. I dodged pigeons and families like a gazelle when I raced by the main fountain. I was in such a hurry to see someone, you see. Since Yugi’s defeat over Malik, the magic within the shadow realm and it’s monsters had grown. That’s where I came in. I have a very unusual power, among my many others. But this one trait let’s me give life to spirits and other unearthly creatures. I’m not bringing people back from the dead or anything, but I did grant some of my abilities to the duel monsters. When they found out that they could walk freely amongst humans they eagerly agreed. I had to ask permission from Yugi, Seto, Joey etc. if it was ok. They all seemed interested in what I was proposing to do. I kept the real reason for doing this from them however. I brought all of their favorite creatures to ‘life’ and gave them normal clothes. The Dark Magician really looks good in jeans and a black t-shirt. Hehe. They looked like regular people (the strange skin tones disappear under my powers) and everyone was so excited. So for a whole year, the monsters could come and go as real beings. That’s where this little tid- bit starts. I ran through Domino park to meet up with my favorite monster. He was the true reason I did this. I wanted him to be with me in the human world. I searched for him in the crowds. He shouldn’t be hard to find, who else did I know that had knee length black hair and black tattoo’s on his face? It was then that I heard a deep yet soothing voice call out for me, “Olivia! Over here!” I snapped my head towards a handsome guy near a park bench. His hair in the sunlight reminded me of onyx. His red, red eyes caught my gold ones and I happily skipped over to him. Much to his surprised countenance I jumped and threw my arms around his neck. “Razel!” I giggled. His white tank top and baggy pants suited him well. I bounced like a child, because I wanted him to show me. I wanted to see him as he truly was, not under the guise of a 20 year old guy, out in the middle of the day. “Please Razel? There’s no one around,” I begged quickly glancing around us. He gave me an incredulous look, sighed and slowly let down the ‘glamour.’ “C’mon, let’s go. Yugi and the others are waiting for us at the amusement park,” I smiled wildly. Razel grinned at my happiness and nodded. For that brief moment I felt as if I was holding the most beautiful sapphire in the world…and I was.
