Dear Diary

Author's Note: Well, this idea had been in my mind for god knows how long. Currently, I am on the last few parts of chapter 5 in my writing. Chapter one will be up for a while before I finally put up the other chapters. Also, I had a really hard time coming up with a title. My titles are usually crap, so please forgive the eye-gouging bull you had to read before coming here. Yes, that means you, too, summary. .

In sixteen years of living, I have never seen anything quite so mysterious and breathtaking. There, sitting before me on my blue-sheeted bed, was a golden bracelet. I knew not of where it came or what it was even, but it seemed special. As if it was destined to be mine. I trembled mildly, feeling a power that I have never felt before. It was, to say the least, exhilarating. My cat, Katakana-chan, darted by with a meow that indicated confusion. I tried hushing her as she jumped into my arms. Taking just a few steps forward, I picked up the shimmering, stiff oval. A clasp in the back invited me to put it around my slender wrist; I did as the bracelet asked.

Suddenly, a flash of pure white light flew from the eye on the middle of the ring. My cat jumped from my arms, running off in a hurry. I couldn't see, hear, or even breath. My world was collapsing down on me; I felt as if I were falling, my life spiraling out of control. I could feel the wind slowly blowing through my hair, gently tossing me to my doom. I fell to the floor in a dark blue room, gasping for oxygen like I was under water.

"Ashita-chan? Ashita-chan! Get up," I felt someone shaking me, waking me from my frightening nightmare. "Kana-chan?" I asked groggily, sitting up slowly and shaking my head, putting a hand to my forehead to force back an oncoming headache. Looking over at my friend, Kana, I saw her in her school uniform. She looked extremely disappointed in me, with her arms crossed and her foot tapping against my hard-wood, uncarpeted floor beside my bed. Her normally soft blue eyes held frustration and annoyance as she pursed her lips. "Ashita-chan! You're going to be late for school again! No wonder you're so behind," Kana-chan shook her head in disappointment. "School!?" I shot up from my position on my firm, lumpy mattress, hurting my back in the process.

Rushing around my plain and nearly empty white room, I grabbed my uniform and threw it on. Kana came up behind me and brushed my dark brown hair. "Jeez, Ashita-chan, your hair is such a mess in the morning." she complained. I just rolled my hazel eyes, silently letting her brush my hair while I started toward the bathroom. She finished and handed me back the hair filled brush. I cringed slightly while shutting the door and pulling hair out of the brush, tossing the loose hair in the trash as I did my morning routine. It was nothing special, just a quick teeth brushing, and the application of deodorant, of course. I also slipped on my bracelet.
The golden bracelet in my dreams.

I've had it for a few years now. I don't know how I got it, I just found it in my room. It's power still frightens me and confuses me, but at the same time excites me. The Sennen Bracelet allows me to speak to animals. That's definitely something you won't want to do when your cat is hungry. I don't know what else the bracelet is for, but I do know that I would never give this treasure up. Besides, I would never give up the chance to divulge myself with my kitty-cat anyway.

"Ashita! Hurry up!" Noticing that Kana-chan was getting impatient with me, I hurried, walking out of the bathroom and slipping on my lace-less shoes. I grabbed my small, over-the-shoulder backpack. In a side pocket, it carried my Duel Monsters deck. "Katakana-chan, be a good girl!" I called; Kana-chan and I rushed out the door of my excessively plain house. Katakana-chan meowed and stalked off to her food dish.

Just about four blocks away from my house, Kana-chan started to playfully threaten me. "If we're late, Ashita-chan," Kana-chan warned, panting as we ran to school, "I'm going to kick your ass!" I looked over at her, "yeah? Well, I'll tear up your picture of Kimachi, Hatori-kun!" I retaliated. Hatori Kimachi-kun was a young boy in this movie Kana-chan saw, and she's been in love with the actor ever since. She scowled at me, "you wouldn't dare!" Giggling, I ran faster, trying to get ahead of her before she pummeled me to the ground.

"You should know me by now, Kana-cha-" I grunted, running into mailbox and almost flipping over it. It went directly into my stomach making me want to throw up the non-breakfast I ate. Kana-chan gasped slightly as she slowed her pace, reaching me, "Ashita-chan! Are you all right!?" I groaned, straightening out, and nodded my head, holding my stomach. "I think so. ." Standing, I shook it off, "c'mon, we better keep going before we're late, Kana-chan."

The chitter-chatter of my fellow classmates, excluding Kana-chan, rang throughout the classroom by the end of the day. Kana-chan is a year younger than I am, so she's in a lower class, and she's definitely the boss there. She's the president of her class, while also being the top of her class. She is, after all, practically a genius.

"Hey, look Yuugi, that girl's on time for once," I ignored the voice that ran through my head, giving a discontent grunt. I hate it when they think I can't hear them. Glancing over at the 'center of attention', I saw four people. Yuugi Mutou-kun. Jounouchi Katsuya-kun. Honda Hiroto-kun. Anzu Mazaki-chan. They always seem to be playing Duel Monsters, but I don't even think they know I have a deck. Sighing shakily, I got out my deck to put it in view; maybe they'd come over and play the card game with me. I, personally, was too shy to invite myself over there.

In a matter of seconds the blonde one, Jounouchi-kun, came over, "'ey! Looks like you have a deck, too!" He said with a goofy grin on his face. I knew he wanted to duel, it was either him or Yuugi-kun. "H-Hai, Jounouchi-kun," I nodded, a little taken aback by his overexcited attitude. "How about a duel then?" Jounouchi-kun asked, nervous to receive an answer. He and I never really talked. He possibly thought that I might refuse. I closed my eyes, pretending like I didn't expect this to happen, "hmm. . Sure, I don't see why not, Jounouchi-kun!" I answered with a bright smile. Soon, the whole group came over to watch our match.

Honda-kun leaned against a nearby desk. Yuugi-kun placed both hands on the desk Jounouchi-kun and I were going to be dueling on. Anzu-chan, on the other hand, gave an oddly skeptical look Jounouchi-kun's way. "Jounouchi, do you even know this girl's name?" Anzu-chan asked. Jounouchi-kun paused, "anou. . Ashita, right?" I gave him a small nod, "yes, that's my name."

He sat straight down, "there, now the introductions are over!" He put out his deck and I grabbed a playing mat from my backpack. "Good luck, Ashita. Not like you'll need it," Honda-kun said, hovering over Jounouchi-kun. Jounouchi-kun gave him an angry stare before turning his attention back to the mat and I. "Thank you, Honda-kun," I said, placing my deck in the far right corner and drawing five cards, "who's going first?" I asked curiously. Jounouchi-kun looked up at me from his hand of cards, "you first. After all, you are a girl."

"Hai!" I chimed, looking at my hand. My deck contained dragon cards, spell cards, trap cards, and magic cards. Most of my dragon cards were either dark, light, or fire cards, but I did keep water, lightning, machine, and zombie attributes, among a few others. I simply couldn't wait for this battle to start.
