“Mokuba… no…”

“Awww! But Seto!” the younger Kaiba started to protest.

“No.” his elder brother cut him off.

“But he’s all by himself, Seto! We can’t just throw him out!”

“He was just fine on his own before you found him, Mokuba. I don’t like you bringing strays home.”

“No he wasn’t! He was being picked on by a bigger dog! I rescued him! C’mon Seto! He’s so cute! Just look at him!” The eleven year old boy tried to pick up the puppy that was larger than he was.

Seto wasn’t looking, “He’s wild, Mokuba. He’ll tear apart the house.”

“No! I’ll train him! I’ll take care of him! I’ll train him to be a guard dog! He’ll be the most loyal, fiercest protector ever! Please, Seto! Pretty please! I’ve always wanted a puppy! Pretty please!” Mokuba pleaded, large blue/gray eyes shining up in pleading.

Seto did look this time, then winced, sighing to be caught up in his brother’s pleading eyes. This led him to look down at the puppy his little brother had brought home.

He was blond, a preteen… maybe a year or so older than Mokuba. His hair was messy, falling over golden eyes almost endearingly. Those golden eyes were large and peering up at him curiously as well. He was thin, a little wiry, looking like he could use a good meal or ten. The dog-boy was wearing nothing more than a ratty pair of shorts and a muscle shirt that was much too large for him and missing a sleeve. He was dirty, mud smudging his face, and he really did look like he had been on the losing end of a fight.

Golden lab ears were perked up, long tail wagging behind him. His face was rounded with youth and he had full, pouting lips, extra pouty right now with the way that lower lip was sticking out adorably up at him. Those large golden eyes were begging to him, just like Mokuba’s were. The young CEO was no match against such a double force.

He groused, “Fine, he can stay. But first sign of trouble and he’s out, do you hear me?”

“YAY!!” Mokuba cheered and he and his new puppy bounced and danced together before the young Kaiba let the puppy go to glomp onto his brother, “Thank you, Seto! I’ll take good care of him! I swear I will!”

“You better, because I will not play babysitter to some dog boy, do you hear me?”

“Yep! I swear! Starting now I’ll be the most responsible puppy owner ever!”

There were loud, echoing sounds of multiple thuds and the sound of something large crashing.

Both Kaibas followed the sound to a now broken shelf case that had held a vast collection of movies and video game cases. Said cases now littered the floor over a flinching, curled up puppy. The blond lab peeked up once the commotion was over and smiled sheepishly, ears perking up a little and his tail wagging hopefully, his whole expression read ‘It wasn’t me!’

Mokuba winced, smiling sheepishly, “Okay, starting now I’ll be the best puppy owner ever!”

Seto could only sigh heavily.

A week…

It had been a whole week since Mokuba had brought him the stray puppy now named Jou.

In that one week Seto had come close to making himself some puppy skinned boots about… well more times than he could count!

Jou was completely wild! He tore up the furniture, had broken more collectibles and valuables than the brunette cared to recall at the moment. He tracked mud everywhere, and liked to mark all of his territory. And dog had even gotten into his room and marked his bed! And that was just the tip of the iceberg!

Seto was in a near constant state of migraine these days. He had enough to worry about in the office, now he feared coming home each night to just see the damage the dog had caused!

And Mokuba wasn’t making things better. He knew is brother was trying his best to keep the mutt under control, but most of the time he really had to question Mokuba’s judgments. He’d let Jou get away so much, always using the same excuse, ‘He’s just a puppy! He doesn’t know any better!’

Frankly Seto was sick of it and he was waiting for the next major incident to just kick the dog out, send him to the pound, to a shelter, whatever it took!

He had awoken this morning, after a long night trying to sleep through Jou’s howling, to the sound of a loud crash and a loud howl of pain. Great… Jou had broken something else… Seto slipped haphazardly out of bed, stumbling over to his bathroom. He had deep circles under his eyes and his hair was more tousled than usually from all the tossing and turning he had done last night.

A quick shower later found the CEO in his dining room where Mokuba was bandaging Jou’s arm.

“What happened?”

“Oh! Seto!” Moluba looked quite upset, “Jou was curious about what Hashigami-san was making for breakfast this morning. He tipped over a few of the pots and pans, but one of them was full of boiling water and Jou-pup hurt himself!” He carefully finished bandaging the puppy’s arm. “Now Jou, don’t try to take that off okay? There’s a calm balm on the bandages, so it shouldn’t hurt. Later Seto will remove the bandages to give the skin a change to breathe.”

The brunette frowned, “And why will I be the one doing this?”

Mokuba pouted at his older brother, “Because it’s the weekend, so the staff will be leaving early, and you gave me permission to go on my school’s weekend camping trip! You have to take care of Jou!” the younger Kaiba pointed to his waiting travel pack sitting beside him on the table.

“Mokuba, no. I…” Kaiba was the one that was cut off this time.

“You promised I could go this year, big brother! You promised! And you signed the permission slip yourself yesterday!”

“I did..?”

Mokuba sighed, “You did… you probably don’t remember because you were too busy complaining about Jou again!”

… That did sound plausible… but even so!

“Mokuba, you swore that you’d take care of the dog. I said I would not be babysitter to this dog.”

Mokuba turned on the, sad, puppy dog eyes, “Seto! That’s not fair! It’s only for the weekend! You promised me since last year you’d let me go! I’ve been doing all my homework and I’ve improved my grades just so I’d be able to go! You promised!”

Ra, not those eyes again! But he had to admit that his brother had been doing a lot better in school since they made their deal last year.

“Seto~! You promised!”

“I know, I know,” Seto sighed in irritation. There was no helping it, really. If he didn’t let Mokuba go he’d never hear the end of it, and he knew his brother’s grade would just drop down lower than before in rebellion. “Fine… but only for this weekend, do you hear me?”

The pout was gone in an instant, “Thank you, big brother! Don’t worry! Jou is a very good puppy, aren’t you boy?” Mokuba cuddled the blond pup, nuzzling the top of his head, drawing happy little whines from the pup and a lick to the cheek.

“You do realize that I do live here and have seen how much he misbehaves, don’t you?” Seto raised an eyebrow.

Mokuba rolled his eyes, “He’s just a puppy, Seto! He has a lot of energy and most of the day he’s all on his own! He’s getting a lot better, aren’t you boy?” He was answered by a happy yip.

“If you say so,” but he wouldn’t be as patient with any disobedience as his brother was.

“Ah! I have to get going!” Mokuba shoveled a few hard boiled eggs into his mouth and grabbed a few pieces of toast as he slung his travel over his back. “Jou! Be good for Seto! He’ll be taking care of you for the next few days!”

Jou looked over at the elder Kaiba, all happiness gone, replaced with distrust and defiance. He murred at him, snuffed then walked away.

“Aah… I guess he doesn’t know you well enough yet, Seto… But I really gotta go now! Don’t worry! He’s really friendly once he gets to know you!” the young boy bounced up to his brother in a quick hug, then turned and dashed out of the house to the driver waiting for him outside., not giving Seto time to respond.

… Well that was just perfect. Now he was stuck with this dog that he didn’t like and didn’t like him back as it’s sole caretaker for the weekend. The staff didn’t work weekends since he and Mokuba could see to most of their own needs on their days off, but now he wished at least one of them would stay. He winced when he heard the tell tale crashing sound of the pup knocking something over. Just perfect…

This was going to be a very long weekend.

Following the source of the crash found Jou completely drenched, having just crashed into his 30 gallon fish tank, said tank now cracked open, his priceless tropical fish flopping around on the floor around the puppy amongst the shattered glass and soggy carpet.

“MUTT!!” at their master’s yell the staff moved into action saving the fish, picking up the pieces of glass, removing the tank from view so that it wouldn’t further enrage their boss, ordering a new one to be delivered in a few hours, and pulling out the rug doctor which would clean the rug and make sure that it dried properly. All this took place in a matter of minutes, and in all this time the enraged brunette was still glaring daggers at the cowering, soaked puppy.

“Mutt…” He started again, starting forward, growling when the blond instinctively scooted away, grabbing hold of his wrist and pulling him forward. “Look at what you did, you stupid dog!”

Jou whimpered and Seto couldn’t help but let some of his anger deflate. “Let me look at you,” he said gruffly and pulled the blond puppy over with him to the couch. He checked him scratches, any sort of injury, thankfully not finding anything worse than a few scratches on his arm. “Wait here, pup.” Seto got up and motioned for the dog boy to stay. “Stay… stay… good… I’ll be right back.”

True to his word he returned quickly with a first aid kit. None of the scratches were serious enough to require bandages, and really, the pup’s other bandaged arm saved him from further arm. He tsked softly as he pulled out some alcohol wipes. “You’re very accident prone, aren’t you, mutt..?” He chuckled when he got an indignant look as a response. “Either that or water just doesn’t like you. Two water related injuries and it’s not even the afternoon. Show me your arm.”

Jou hesitated, still not trusting the older Kaiba, but hesitantly he offered his injured arm. He regretted it immediately as he felt a sharp sting on his scratches, yelping and trying to tug his arm away.

“Stay!” Kaiba grounded out, tightening his hold on the struggling blond pup. “This is your own fault, I’m making sure these don’t get worse than they already are. Maybe this will teach you to be so careless next time.”

Jou huffed and murred unhappily, but didn’t struggle, wincing as each scratch was cleaned.

“There…” the teen CEO actually ruffled the blond pup’s hair, and Jou looked up at him in shock. The brunette snorted softly, “Don’t read into that, it’s a habit from treating Mokuba’s injuries. Now follow me.”

Jou wasn’t sure what to do now. He didn’t like Kaiba from the beginning, the man made no effort to show that he didn’t want him here, and ever since then all he’s ever done was scream at him for some reason or another. But… just now… he showed that he really could be a very caring person. Maybe Mokuba was right about him.

“What are you waiting for, mutt? I won’t ask again.”

…Okay forget that, the guy was a jerk. With a resigned Jou followed warily after his brunette master. He didn’t question when he was led to the laundry room, looking around a bit curiously, but since he hadn’t gotten a good look in here yet. He was so preoccupied he didn’t notice anything amiss until he heard the sound of the door closing and locking. His eyes went wide and he ran to the door, testing the knob. It really was locked! He started to whimper and scratch at the door, jumping back in shock when someone pounded on the other side.

“Don’t scratch at the door, mutt! I’ll send someone with dry clothes and some food and water for you for the day! You’re going to stay in there until I get back. Think about what you did, about all the damage you’ve caused since you’ve gotten here. You’re under my care now, and I’m not as lenient of a master as Mokuba is. You will learn to behave if it’s the last thing I do. Do you hear me?”

There was no answer. Seto didn’t expect one. “I’ll see you tonight, mutt. Think about what you’ve done and contemplate ways to earn forgiveness until I get back.”

He was late getting to the office now. Another reason the pup irritated him. He meant what he said. By the time Mokuba got back from his trip he was determined to have the dog better behaved if not completely obedient.

~

Seto had stopped by at a pet store on his way back home from work, having called in a favor to keep the place opened after hours for him. He hated to admit that he was spending this much money on a dog he didn’t want, but it was the principal of the matter. That damn dog had to be trained if he ever wanted any semblance of peace back in his home!

Never mind that he had made Mokuba promise that very thing himself when he first agreed to taking in the mutt.

The house was dark when he arrived, he expected it to be, the only ones around were the minimum security that he kept around on weekends and even they didn’t actually step into the house.

The lights turned on at his presence, lighting the way back to the laundry room.

He didn’t know what he was expecting when he opened the door after locking a destructive, accident prone puppy in there for the entire day, but really he should have expected this.

The dryer was tipped over, the tubing torn from the fall, which had knocked the hose off of the washing machine, the floor was soaked, but it looked like the pup had figured out how to turn off the water’s source since water still wasn’t spraying into the room. Seto felt a nerve popping against his temple, the hand holding the bag of bed supplies clenched so tightly that a few droplets of blood had spilled before Seto even realized it.

“Mutt…” his voice was soft, but dangerous, and he didn’t miss the tremble from under a pile of clothes. “Don’t think you can hide from me, mutt!” He tore off the piles of clothes, not caring that they were landing on the wet floor, finding the blond curled up in the middle of the pile. He glared at him angrily for what seemed like an eternity until the pup finally turned his frightened gaze to him. “Well? What do you have to say for yourself?”

Jou bit his bottom lip lightly, not able to look directly as his older master. He wanted his little master to come back! He wanted to play! He had been so bored all by himself and then everything had gotten so quiet and he had gotten afraid.

“Nothing to say for yourself?” Seto pressed on, grabbing the pup by the scruff of his shirt, the blond puppy only whimpering more. “I told you, you were staying in here to think about all the damage you had caused, not to cause more damage! Do you understand, or are you completely braindead?!”

Jou just whimpered again, keeping his head ducked, hands curled against his chest. It was only then that the brunette noticed the redness of blood on his clean white, shirt.

“Fuck, damn puppy, you hurt yourself again, didn’t you? Let me see.”

Of course Jou wasn’t about to comply with how his older master had just been screaming at him.

“Dammit, you stupid mutt! Let me see!” he dropped the bag and yanked one of his hands towards him, ignoring the futile struggling. Blue eyes widened in shock. Jou’s finger nails were a bloody mess and he could see a few splinters under the ravaged nail. He turned to look at the door in shock, finding deep, splintering scratch marks and even blood. He cursed under his breath.

“You really have to stop doing this, puppy. With all your bandages and injuries people are going to think I’m abusing you.”

Jou peeked up at that, a mixture of distrust and desperation for attention clear in his eyes. The teen CEO almost sighed at the look in those stunning golden eyes. He was treating Jou just like a regular dog, but he was more than that. The poor mutt must have been so lonely all day.

“Come on… We’ll get this cleaned up later. For now I need to treat your hands… then we’re starting your training.”

“T-training..?” Jou whispered softly.

Seto was taken by surprise again. This was the first time Jou had ever spoken in front of him. He had started to suspect that the blond was a mute. He nodded with a soft smirk. “That’s right. Any good puppy needs training, and if you’re going to live in my house you’re going to have to be a good puppy.”

Jou pouted, looking away.

Kaiba just chuckled, helping the pup to his feet and, keeping a hold of his wrist, he led him out of the laundry room, picking up the bag of pet supplies.

Jou couldn’t help but be curious when the older master led him up to his room. After the first day he had been forbidden from ever returning to this room. He hadn’t seen what the problem was. He had just been claiming his territory! He was told to sit on the bed and watched as his older master disappeared behind a door only to reappear with the same box he had used this morning. The box filled with the stinging clothes!

Instantly the blond puppy was distrustful, scooting further away on the bed.

“Jou… stay… This is for your own good.”

“But it hurts!” Jou whined.

The brunette rolled his eyes, “You and Mokuba are alike. Yes, it stings, that’s how you know it works. Besides, if we leave those splinters in they’ll definitely get infected. Now behave or I’ll tie you down to get to you.”

Jou blushed crimson, but it rooted him to the spot, so the CEO didn’t question it. He sat the puppy on his lap to be able to look at his hands better, removing every splinter he could find, then cleaned the wounds with alcohol wipes, holding the squirming puppy between firm thighs when he started to struggle.

“Hold still! The more you struggle the more it will hurt.” He was in no mood for the pup’s shenanigans.

After even more struggling and quite a few cursing and even a few bites from the struggling blond the CEO had the puppy’s hands properly bandaged. “Keep those on. Now let’s take a look at your burn wound.”

He checked it over, letting the skin breath, then checked his scratches as well, seeing that they were all just fine. He peeled off the wet clothes and put the puppy in a robe that he was now swimming in.

Now onto the main event… He pulled a dark red leather collar from the pet store bag and smirked when distrust instantly shown in those expressive golden eyes. He had no doubt put the blond through enough. Too bad… this was needed.

Jou glared at his older master when he brought out the collar. A collar?! What kind of dog did he think he was?! An owned one?! His breath hitched softly… His master was giving him a collar… his older master wanted to own him. But… did he want to be owned by his older master? He liked his younger master better! But then, even though his older master was strict, he was also very caring. Even when he was angry at him he tended to his injuries. He whined softly torn with indecision.

He couldn’t help but gasp softly as large hands teased the back of his neck as the collar was being fitted on. He almost pulled away, but somehow he got caught in his older master’s eyes. They were intense and blue, but cold… like ice. It made him shiver. He heard a soft click and he knew that his collar had just been locked into place. He bowed his head with a soft sigh. It appears that he belong to his older master now… but he’d still love playing with his younger master better!

“There… that wasn’t so horrible, was it? This is your first lesson. You are a pet in this house. You belong to us, therefore we are above you. You must obey me and my rules, just as you must obey Mokuba, do you understand?”

Jou sulked, looking away with a pout, but he nodded, “I understand, master…”

For some reason, it sent a thrill through him, being called master. And it didn’t help that Jou looked adorable when he was sulking, and the endearing little show of skin from where the robe had slipped down his shoulders, the robe large on his slim body to begin with. He could see just the smallest hint of pink nipples from the top of the robe, still pebbly from having been wearing the cold, wet clothes for so long.

Change of plans…

Moving fluidly he had the puppy pinned under him in the blink of an eye, those large, limpid golden eyes looking up at him in shock. That was endearing as well, as was the pink flush dusting his lightly tanned skin, the parting of such soft looking lips in a gasp.

“M-master…?” Jou mentally cursed the small tremble in his voice at the simple word, not wanting to admit that his older master scared him.

“This is your next lesson, Jou… A lesson in dominance.”

“Dominance..?” Jou breathed out, shivering at the look in those icy blue eyes. They were the eyes of a predator… and he got the sneaking suspicion that he was the pray.
