“And how many times have a told you not to leave these cards all over the place!?” Anzu yelled as she pushed them all up into one huge messy pile of cards.
“Don’t do that! You’ll bend them. Dammit!” Atem grabbed her wrists and shook her hands so that she would drop the cards in her hands. “Don’t touch them.” He growled angrily and began to fix the pile.
“Well maybe it will teach you not to leave them out. And when are you going to stop playing these games?”
“Back the fuck off me, Woman!” he snarled, “If you are so worried about money then get a fucking job, I am not stopping you.”
“Fuck you!” Anzu ground and shoved him.
“Don’t push me, Anzu. You get one warning.” Atem warned darkly and took a deep breath making himself look taller as she stepped up in front of him.
“Or what? You’ll hit me? Do it.” she pushed him again but he didn’t budge. “Come on Atem, don’t make empty threats.” Atem growled inwardly and backed off. “That’s what I thought!” She smirked and walked out swaying her hips to tease him since she had cut him off from Sex for a month for going to a strip club with Joey. He had stumbled in drunk will a bra around his neck and kiss marks all over his face. He then tried to make out with Anzu as she scolded him.
Atem shook his head and sat down at the table and proceeded to prepare his deck for any upcoming battles he might have. With each card he set down he began to replay their relationship, at this rate it wouldn’t last. Perhaps he should have gone to the afterlife. He shook his head. Something had to be done. They had to fix this. But how?
“ATEM!” She screamed and he jumped up as if he had been shocked, he hated it when she screamed like that. It sent painful spikes of fear and anger up his spine and he just wanted to strangle her.
“What!?” he yelled back.
“Get in here! Now!” she barked and he sat back down ignoring her and rolled his eyes when he heard her stomp toward him with a rolled up magazine in her hands. Oh no. “What the fuck is this?” She tossed onto the table where it willingly unfolded.
“Don’t be stupid, Anzu.” He smirked and looked up at her, “Read the cover, what does it say?”
“Girls Girls Girls!”
“Oh good, so you can read.” He leaned back as if he didn’t care.
Her eyes narrowed as she slammed her hands on the table in anger only to flinch inwardly at the pain, her eyes watering only a little.
“OH! That hurt didn’t it.” he smirked. “You should really control your anger.”
“I hate you so much.” She stormed off and slammed the door.
“Yeah? And I love you too.” He said sarcastically as he went back to his deck. “Bitch.”
The next morning Anzu slipped out of the house and slammed the door loud enough to wake him up as he slept on the couch. “Damn woman.” He grumbled and jumped as the phone rang. “What?”
“Whoa, what’s wrong with you Pal?” it was Yugi his voice always made Atem happy.
“Aibou. Forgive me. It’s Anzu again.”
“Oh. Yeah you know maybe you guys should try something to fix what you have, you still love her don’t you?”
“Of course I love her. But I can’t stand her.” Atem growled.
~~~~
“I just want to know where the romance went? I mean before he was loving and sweet. He was everything a girl could hope for.”
“Well, I don’t know. When Yugi and I fight we have a small break to write down our anger and throw the paper away then we talk about it. Works every time.” Rebecca smiled.
“Atem and I are different, for the first three year we haven’t fought. Now all of a sudden things he does just…”
~~~~
“Drive me up the wall and I just want her to shut up. You know I would never hit her but sometimes I wonder what it would feel like to back hand her.” Atem admitted.
“Well I am so glad you wouldn’t hit her, it would be over the moment you did that. When do you think all of this started?”
“About three months ago. WE were sitting at the table and I was looking over new cards I had gotten and she flipped. Yelling at me about how I loved Duel monsters more than her when she knows it’s not true.”
“You guys have never fought before then?” Yugi’s eyebrows wrinkled and spoke softly on the phone to his darker half.
“No. Never I thought we were perfect.”
“I wish I knew how to help you. Maybe you need a little expert advice.”
~~~~~
“What kind of advice?” Anzu inquired as she leaned in listening to her.
“Couples counseling” She smiled when she heard Yugi in the other room saying the same thing to, whom she could only assume was, Atem on the phone.
