Knock Him Off His Pedestal

You Must…

The sun begins to dip low over the earth casting a dreamy glow over everything it touches. A not so light breeze sweeps through the trees and lightly sways the unoccupied swing sets and merry go rounds causing them to make a slight creaking sound that resonate throughout the eerily quiet surroundings of Domino City Park.

“Attack!” a familiar voice suddeny rings out.

Time seem to screech to a halt as the technical beeping sounds of a duel disk configures the opponent’s remaining life points. Of course it was probably the easiest thing the gadget had to do because the remaining life points…

“Holy Shit, I did it”!

...was zero.

To Kill a Kaiba

For the first time, the former top duelist,

”Oh Kami. I can’t believe it, you actually did it!” A girl with short auburn hair races up to the victor.

CEO of a multi-billion company,

“Hey man I knew you could do it! I never doubted ya!” A tall figure with a weird triangle-shaped hairdo replies as he “discreetly” hands his long black haired lover some undetermined amount of yen.

The victor frowns at the gesture.

“Oh ya can just go da hell, Honda!”

rich boy genius,

Laughter of sheer joy rings out, completely replacing the silence that plagued the park earlier.

“Omedetou Gozaimasu*!

“We all knew you could do it! All you had to do is believe!” A cute tri-color boy smiled brightly.

Kaiba, Seto,

“Ah thanks Yug, wit friends like ya guys, it would be impossible not ta win eventually!”

“Yea so I guess technically you’re second to Yugi now right?”, Otogi said with a grin as he absent-mindly tugs on Honda’s coat.

“Yea dat’s right! So watch out Yug, I’m gunnin’ fer ya!”

Yugi gives a fake look of horror and everyone roars in laughter.

Lost to Jounouchi Katsuya.

A crash of a once proudly held duel disk hits the basketball court pavement at booted feet causing everyone to turn their heads. The strengthening winds carry the loose cards swirling them about like lost souls.

One strays away and lands front side up at a black boot, a Blue Eye White Dragon.

It's fierce blues eyes looks up to defeated blue ones.

A larger group of eyes widen at the sight of hunched shoulders and downcast eyes, shadowed by wind-swept auburn bangs while a not so gravity-defying trench coat plasters itself to the pavement as if the weight of the world held it there.

“What’s da matta Kaiba? It’s not dat bad being third-rate! Hey I should know right?”

Yugi makes a sound of disapproval which Jounouchi completely disregards.

“Ta hell with it, Yug! He’s all big an’ bad, mista hot shot CEO! I betcha dis ain’t shit to him! He’ll go home eat some filet a la lemon and his rich bouquet* bread and bitch at me about a rematch!”

As if in pain, hollow pupil-less blue eyes took the blonde’s gaze.

Jounouchi immediately regrets not listening to Yugi as he stares transfixed at the haunting yet beautiful face.

The last of the sun’s rays appearing over Kaiba’s head had given him a very vunerable yet sexy look, his hair in total disarray.

“It’s like he’s dead”, whispers Tea’ to no one in particular.

Dark clouds overhead, sometime during the victory, had gathered, giving a warning rumble as it chases the sun further into the earth’s horizon.

As if on cue, the broken boy turns on a pivot and saunters away towards the ominous horizon with lightening flickering in the distance, completely oblivious to pained hazel eyes.

“Damn, not even a smirk….” Otogi trails off.

And for the first time, not feeling at all like a winner, Kaiba Seto was simply at a lost…

To be continued…

*omedetou gozaimasu- congratulations
*bouquet bread- Jou’s actually meant baguette bread…a very long French bread loaf
