A/N: Basically a trilogy with lots of angst in Ryou’s part. (Don’t get me wrong I love Ryou! ^^)
Chapter 1: Empty Inside
“Please stop” Ryou pleaded as Bakura slammed him in the wall for only Ra knows how many times due to his ‘disobedience’. It was only 3 in the morning, Bakura had come home drunk and pissed for some unknown reason and like the usual he had dragged his little hikari out of bed, and beat him for shall we say relief? After all that was what Ryou was only good for according to the Yami………relief………
“I said shut up!” Bakura barked as he kicked the boy in the ribs. The sight of his ‘hikari’ bleeding and in pain was turning him on and he couldn’t help but to lick his lips in anticipation. “Hikari………” the term had never sounded like an insult, a mockery and a prejudice.
“Onegai………” Ryou begged
“Hikari do you know how pretty you are?” Bakura intervened as he knelt down so he was eye level with his light. Ryou cringed as he avoided eye contact. He didn’t like the Yamis’ sarcastic remarks since it always meant worst torture.
“Please just leave me alone………”
“Tell me one thing first, hikari” Bakura began as his smile grew “To whom to you belong to?” he whispered in Ryou’s ear and licking it afterwards. He was satisfied when he felt Ryou shiver and try to push him back. Bakura knew that Ryou had a crush of him despite him being a bastard and he knew his every move could turn his little light on.
“P-please” Ryou sobbed as the Yami pinned him in the wall. One hand on the side of the younger’s head while the other unbuttoning his shirt.
“Are you scared?” Bakura murmured as the next thing he did was pull a knife from his waist band and slowly dragged it along the pale boy’s chest. Ryou cringed as the cold metal touched his skin and slowly opening a long gash where his blood started to flow.
“Ya-yamero” Ryou whispered as his Yami started to lap up the blood, licking it, like it was an exotic delicacy.
“So beautiful………” the Yami grinned, “Now be a good little light and lie on your belly “ he continued on as Ryou did what he was told, wanting to get Bakura’s ministration done and over with.
“You’re mine little one………mine alone” Bakura cooed, and before Ryou knew it he was already screaming in pain as his sadistic Yami imprinted his name in symbols in his flesh. It was then Ryou realized that Malik had a similar experience when his father engraved those prophesies on his back. And it was only then that Ryou wondered what Malik had felt hence it was the one he loved that destroyed him.
Bakura stood up and glared at his hikari. He did a good job imprinting his name in the boys back but he felt a sudden guilt as the sight of Ryou barely conscious from the loss of blood. He wanted to apologize and mend those wounds but the strong and proud Yami Bakura did otherwise as he spat on his hikari “Look at what you’ve done make sure you clean that up before I come back tomorrow if you know what’s best for you………little one”
“Hai” Ryou replied and for once Bakura flinched at the sudden coldness of the other’s voice. The Yami shook his head and disregarded the sudden emotion and left the house without another word, leaving the poor light lost and alone.
Morning came seemingly fast as Ryou opened his eyes wearily. After Bakura had left the night before, he had settled a few minutes in the floor before forcing himself to finally stand up and clean his own wounds. “5:30………” Ryou murmured to himself as he took an old rag from the cabinet and began scrubbing the bloodied walls. He didn’t want to get into trouble anymore, but then again Bakura would always find an excuse to beat the shit out of him.
By 6:15 Ryou had cleared everything as he started to dress up for school when the phone rang “Moshi-moshi” Ryou greeted faking a happy tone.
“Ryou?”
“Dad?” Ryou jumped in surprise. It had been nearly a year since he had last heard from the man and he was happy to finally have a chance to get to talk to him “How are you?” Ryou began forgetting the pain searing in his back “Are you coming home?” He had wished for his dad to come home in more than one ways. 1. He would no longer be alone and 2. He would be protected against an abusive yami. “When are—“ Ryou continued
“Ryou!” his dad cut him off a bit to harshly “Ryou, I’m not going home………ever” he continued his voice faltering a bit
“W-what do you mean………” Ryou asked
“I’m sorry son, but well………its been 5 years since your mom passed away and I decided to you know have another family………to remarry” the man explained in the receiver, he could hear his son’s shallow breathing “Ryou are you okay? Are you sick?” he asked worriedly
“I’m fine dad,………” the albino murmured faking a happy tone as his hand started to shake
“I-I’m sor—“
“I said it’s fine!” Ryou interrupted “It’s fine………take care” he ended no longer wanting to hear his father’s excuse. He was able to survive without his mother and sister, so why would he need a father who had just disowned him?
It was quarter to 7 when Ryou arrived in school. Like the usual he had made excuses for his injuries and like the usual his teachers had accepted it to be. “Ryou Bakura?” an old woman in her mid fifties called him out in the middle of his math class
“Hai sensei?”
“I would want to see you later would that be fine?” she continued as Ryou nodded. He knew having to see the sensei later would earn him a punishment from Bakura for being late. But he thought better and decided to suffer the consequences.
The day went by in a seemingly short while and before everyone knew it, the bell had rung for lunch. “Ryou!” Yugi squeaked as he approached his friend “What happened to you?” he pointed out the boy’s injuries
“I got careless and fell the stairs” the albino reasoned
“Oh really?” Jou butted in the conversation “Your last excuse was that you bumped yourself what next you got run over by a truck?” he continued.
“………Does it matter what happens to me?” Ryou replied weakly “I told you I just fell”
“What do you mean Ryou?” Anzu started “We’re friends and friends help each other. And seeing that you’re injured lately I suspect this has something to do with that insane Yami of yours” she cooed as the albino’s eyes widen in the mention of his Yami.
“So it HAS something to do with HIM” Yami Yugi interrupted as Ryou glared at the spirit.
“N-no!”
“Ryou it’s alright Yami could send him to the shadow realm” Yugi explained as he noticed his friend sudden panic.
“It has nothing to do with him! Why won’t you believe me?” Ryou reasoned yet again
“WE know you’re lying Ryou!!!” Jou shouted out as Ryou out of anger punched the blonde in the jaw, causing him to fall down. It was very unlikely of Ryou to start a fight but he couldn’t help himself, Jou was meddling to much.
“RYOU!!!” Anzu yelped as Yami and Yugi went to help the blonde and not a moment to soon the same old woman that had called for Ryou earlier came in. Seeing that Ryou had initiated the fight she automatically called for him.
“Ryou what is happening to you?” You should know better than this!” the old woman began as they walked towards a vacant room
“I know sensei it’s just that there are things I don’t want—“
“Ryou! Whatever you’re reason is you shouldn’t haven’t started a fight with Jou” Ryou sighed. How can everyone be ganging up on him? Why was the world so……against him?
“Just to let you know Bakura, you will be having detention for this and the reason I wanted to talk to you a while ago was to let you know that you’re grades are going down and that I would need to talk to your father in the next parent-teacher conference” she continued as Ryou simply nodded, why should he bother, he didn’t have a father………atleast not anymore. “Very well then, you can go home now………I’m very disappointed with you Bakura………” the old woman muttered.
Ryou faked a smiled and left wordlessly, it was then he noticed that Yugi and his gang had been waiting outside the room. “You waited for me?” he asked
“Hey I’m sorry about what happened. I didn’t mean for you to get suspended” Jou apologized as Ryou approached him and simply patted him in the shoulder
“But its really annoying that you have to keep so much from us!” the blonde continued as Ryou plainly shrugged
“If you truly care…then mind you own business… please,” The albino said in an audible whisper. His voice was cold enough to send a chill even to Yami Yugi’s spine. But at that moment Ryou couldn’t care less, atleast he won’t be late and Bakura wouldn’t have to punish him.
He felt sorry for himself…
He felt so Empty Inside…
