Chapter 1: The Invitation *Anzu’s POV*
It’s been a long day. I’m so tired of dance rehearsals. But, if I want to be the best, then I have to do it. I don’t want to go!! *sigh* I guess I’ll go to Yugi’s before rehearsal. I wonder what he’s doing. There’s Kame Game Shop…finally!
‘knock knock’
“Who is it?” I hear Yugi yell from inside.
“Anzu! Open up Yugi!” I reply to him.
I hear some scattering and skittering around. Open the door already! I’m going to fall out!
He opens the door and I smile at him.
“So, what brings you here Anzu?” he asks.
“What? I can’t visit one of my best friends?!” I reply.
Why is he looking so nervous all of a sudden? Oh yea…he still has his crush on me. Must be nervous about being in the same room with me alone. Don’t worry; I’m not going to bite.
“Hold on a second, I left something on in the kitchen.” he says as he darts off into another room. The kitchen isn’t that way…what is he up to? Hmmm…let’s see…that’s the living room.
“So, I didn’t know this was the kitchen.” I say. “Everyone has been acting so distant towards me lately. What is it? Did I forget to shower? Wear deodorant?”
Tell me the truth Yugi…
“No, no, that’s not it Anzu. I’ve been running the game shop almost alone since grandpa has been ill.”
Good boy.
“I can excuse you, but what about Jou and Honda? You know what, I got something to tell you Yugi.”
“Umm…what …is it?”
I’m not asking you out yet…not yet.
“I saw Jou headed towards Kaiba Manor. Isn’t that weird? Why would he go there? Just to get dogged by Kaiba? Ooo that arrogant bastard! I could just run over him with a car!” You’re looking shocked over that?! HA! “And then there’s Honda. He’s been at Otogi’s shop a lot lately!”
He sighs…are you trying to make up a lie Yugi? Nah, he wouldn’t do that to me. Not to his best friend.
“Honda has a part time job there. And Jou…he just walks by there on his way home. That’s all.”
Do I have FOOL on my forehead?
“Hmmm…Yugi. It sounds as if you’re taking up for them. You all wouldn’t hide anything from me? Now would you?”
I give him the meanest look I could muster.
“No…no Anzu. Not at all! You’re one of my best friends.”
Hmmm…what’s this? ‘To Yugi…’
“I just hope they aren’t sleeping together, that would be so creepy. And then you have to be around Honda and Jou! Just thoughts give me the creeps!”
I’ll read this later.
“Yea Anzu…the creeps.”
“Well, I have to go now. I have dance practice in an hour. My recital is next Saturday at 7pm. You better be there or I’m going to be very mad.”
Why is he hesitant…he should be more than willing and able to se me in tights and a tutu. Guess he’s being shy again. Awww.
“Yea. I’ll be there!”
You better! I get up and go towards the door.
“I’ll let myself out. See you later Yugi!”
“Ja! Anzu!”
I hope that Yugi isn’t covering up for Jou and Honda…I mean, he wouldn’t, would he? Nah! Yugi isn’t like that. He would tell me the truth no matter what.
