Tabris

Disclamer: I don't own anything, so I don't think I'd own any anime.

Maelik: I hope you'll all injoyy this.
Tabris: What if they don't?
Maelik: Then I'll hang you. Got that?
Tabris: Yes ma'am!

Jou and Honda were walking with Anzu, Atemu and Yugi, going to school when they noticed a boy their age wearing the same uniform as them walking a few meters in front of them.

“Say, guys, are we supposed to have a new student soon or somethin’?” asked Jou.

“Yeah. If you would have been listening, like you’re supposed to do anyways, you would have heard the teacher saying we were getting a blind student soon to school. And he’s also supposed to show up today,” said Anzu.

“Why do you ask Jou?” asked Yugi, curious of his friend’s question.

“Look over there. Ever seen that guy before?”

Yugi followed the blonde’s finguer and saw the guy. He had long black hair that was tied in a loose ponytail and he was most likely Jou and Honda’s height.

“Couldn’t be. He doesn’t look blind to me,” said Anzu.

“Maybe we should go see him. I sure have never seen him around before,” replied Atemu, frowning.

Yugi nodded and he followed his yami as this one walked faster. They soon reached the guy, who’s stop a lady on the side walk.

“Could you please point me in the direction of the Domino High School please? I afraid I’ve lost myself,” he said politely.

“Of course young man. Just take a right once you’ve reach the end of this street and then a left and you’re there. Oh! Or maybe you should ask these two young fellow to shot you,” answered the woman when she noticed Atemu and Yugi.

The guy turned to them. Yugi almost gasped when he saw the pale orange eyes that he had. The guy was shewing on his bottom lip, looking uncomfortable. It was then that Yugi noticed that his eyes didn’t look focused at all.

“You must be the new transfer student. I’m Yugi and this is my friend Atemu.”

“Oh, hello. I’m Tabris. Yes, im the new transfer student. Pleasure to meet you.”

He shook Yugi and Atemu’s hand. Joiu, Honda and Anzy soon caught up to them.

“Guys, this is Tabris, and he’s the new student. Tabris, these are our friends Anzu, Jou and Honda,” introduced Yugi.

“Really? But I thought the teacher said he was blind,” said Anzu, whispering, but everyone heard her.

A heavy silence fell over them as they look at Tabris’ reaction, which to their surprise was to smile.

“Well, blind isn’t far from it. All I can see is black and white. As far as I can see right now, you’re all shadows to me. But I can make the diference by your height and hair style.”

“So, you only see shapes?” asked Honda, confused.

Tabris nodded and sighed.

“Yup, which is why I’ll need help to get to school right now. My father was supposed to drop me off, but he didn’t.”

“Well, we’ll take you then,” said cheerfully Anzu.

Tabris smiled at her, following her voice to the shadow he knew was hers. He extended his hand and let her pass in front. She led the way as Jou and Honda got into another argument about stupid things and Yugi walked besides Tabris, Atemu on the black haired boy’s other side.

“Where did you live before coming here?” asked gently Yugi.

“I lived in Europe, Germany to be exact. My father had a small business there, but he sold it so I could get back to my mother’s birth place and get to know how she grew up. He’s really an idiot at times. I know he only came here so I would be back out of his legs. He’s still a business man and he knows I’ll stay out of his way here.”

“That must be rough,” said Atemu.

“Not really. I love it here, so I can’t complain much. I used to live here about four years ago, but my father decided he wanted to move away. I just can’t wait to turn eighteen to live on my own.”

Atemu nodded and he noticed that Tabris had seen the movement. They arrived at the school and entered on the grounds. Jou swore as he saw Kaiba’s limo arrive and turned his back to it. Tabris heard it and looked over.

“Who is that?” he asked, curious.

“Seto Kaiba. A real freak. You don’t want to get close to him. He’ll just make fun of you, especially before of your condition,” informed Anzu, making a face.

Tabris raised an eyebrow and smirked to himself. He moved away from the group, lowering his head and made his direction so it would collide with Kaiba’s. The ohters watched him, slightly frighten and Atemu was very curious to see what would happen. Tabris collided with Kaiba all right, both falling down on their butts from the collision.

“Watch where you’re going! Or are you bling?!” hissed Kaiba as he got up.

“Wouldn’t you like to know Seto,” asked teasingly the orange eyed boy.

Kaiba’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked down at Tabris, who was still sitting on the ground and smirking.

“Tabris?” asked the young CEO in shock.

“Glad to know you didn’t forget my name. Now, if you don’t mind, I have a principal to meet. Later.”

With that said, Tabris got up and left, giving Yugi and his friends a gentle smile.

“You know Kaiba?” asked Jou, shocked.

“Yes.”

“Where’d you meet him?” asked Yugi this time.

“I used to be his best friend before moving away four years ago. Seems like he didn’t really change.”

“What do you mean?”

Tabris tapped his lips with his index finguer before shrugging.

“From what you told me and his reaction he just gave me. It tells me he hasn’t changed much so far. Don’t be surprised to see him trying to kill me later. Well, can one of you show me where the principal’s office is? I truly do not wish to get lost in here.”

“I’ll go with him,” said Atemu, nodding as he guided Tabris away.

Yugi turned to his other friends, who kept on looking at Atemu and Tabris.

“Well, he doesn’t seem so bad.”

“Yeah, but he did say he used to be Kaiba’s best friend, and he looks as if he has something to hide if you ask me,” said Jou.

“Who does?”

They all jumped and turned around to see Ryou there, head tilted to the side in curiousity. Malik was right besides him, also looking curious while their yamis were further down the hall talking and smirking like the two evil spirit they are.

“The new student, Tabris,” said Anzu.

“The blind one you mean?” asked Malik.

“He’s not completly blind, he can just see shadows,” explained Yugi.

“Must sill be annoying. So, why do you say he looks as if he’s hiding something?” asked Ryou.

Jou looked back in the direction he’d last seen Tabris and Atemu and just shrugged.

“He just gives me bad vides. How about we go to class before we end up late?”

“Good idea. We’d be damned if Jou ever ended up late for morning classes!” joked Anzu, smiling gently at the blond.

Jou’s eye twiched, but he didn’t say anything and left to go to his locker. As he passed by Marik and Bakura, he heard them whispering about the food at the cafeteria and what they could do with it.

“Not much. Just poison everything with it,” he supplied.

“Still a good thing to do,” replied Marik, snorting at him.

“Bakura, come on! We’ll be late for classes!” exclaimed Ryou, passing by and taking a hold of his yami’s hand to drag him behind him.

“Same goes to you Marik,” sard Malik, doing the same as Ryou as he passed by.
