Chapter 1: The Finding
A young figure giggled as they ran down the beach, splashing the Nile’s water everywhere. Running further, they came to the large delta that fed the Nile and looked out in wonder as the large blue sea stretched out before them. *So beautiful...* they thought as they walked to the very edge, only standing on their heels as their toes touched the salty seawater. They could not help but be happy, the sea...the ocean, it was amazing and beautiful, strong and gentle...all of these things at the same time.
Breathing in the air they suddenly chocked on the smell of sweat, sand, rope, and leather. A harsh slap to the cheek shocked them out of their memories and snapped open to see the slave trader looming over them. “Keep your damn eyes open!” he ordered before waddling out of the hut. The trader huffed as he stood outside of the hut; his mind was racing over the young beauty he had just snapped at. They were a rare beauty indeed, one he had never seen before, but they always said the best slaves were found near the sea or the ocean.
His head snapped up when he heard the sound of trumpets. The slave trader nearly leapt for joy, the pharaoh was coming through the slave market and the trader was desperate to sell him one of his newest acquisitions. The trader already knew the pharaoh had a beautiful little slave that looked exactly like him but...the trader was desperate. He watched as the pharaoh appeared near the end of the corridor all of the slave trader tents made, each one he passed with what looked like a disgusted look. When he finally arrived, the trader was rubbing his greedy hands together.
“Welcome, Pharaoh,” he smiled looking up at the pharaoh. He did not look happy. “Well, trader!” the guard beside the pharaoh bellowed. “The pharaoh does not have all day! Show your merchandise!”
The trader nodded dumbly and hurried in, when he emerged he pulled a heavy rope with him and behind him a line of five slaves were drug out of the hut. All had deeply tanned skin with dark hair and eyes, similar if not identical in characteristics to all of the others the pharaoh had seen. The pharaoh huffed and was about to turn when he saw a glimpse of sea blue from inside the tent. He leant forward on his camel to try to get a better look but before he could, the tent flap closed.
“Trader, do you nave another slave in your tent?” the pharaoh asked looking down at the trader. He immediately became flustered but nodded. “Um, yes, pharaoh, but they are not trained. I just acquired them this morning and have not had a chance to train them for the services you may need.”
The pharaoh frowned a moment. “Bring them out,” he ordered. The trader hesitated a moment but obeyed and disappeared inside the tent.
The figure looked up when the trader entered the tent and gasped as the rope they were tied to was yanked painfully. “Come now! The pharaoh wants a look at you,” the trader snapped as he drew his little treasure out. At first, they fought until the sun’s light hit his face and he was shortly blinded before their eyes cleared to see a group of men before them. They looked up in awe at the men who rode the camels. One, who appeared to be the leader, was a slender man, his hair a combination of three: blonde, black, and red. The man immediately beside him looked like a priest as he wore white robes and their parents had told him about the priests of Egypt. Brown hair was unusual but with this man, being of such a high rank, it did not matter. The others he felt may be guards...bodyguards for the pharaoh but he did not have time to think of that as he felt a pair of eyes gazing at him and turned to meet the pharaoh’s gaze.
Only moment later, the trader emerged, trailing another thick rope but at the end of this one was a beauty the pharaoh had never seen before. What emerged was a young man, no more than fifteen. His skin was a milky contrast between alabaster and the Sahara sand. His figure was nearly feminine in design as was his slender face and hands. Even though he was slender and pale what caught the pharaoh’s eye was the color of the boy’s hair and eyes. His hair was very long, trailing down to his shapely hips and was the color of the sea, his eyes, his little light had lavender eyes, yes, but nothing like what donned the boy before him. They were very pale, yet bright and clear like two crystals.
“Pharaoh...Pharaoh Yami?” a voice whispered in his ear and he saw it was his advisor. “Y...yes...Seto?” he whispered back, his eyes not leaving the upturned face of the young slave.
The young man watched the pharaoh nervously, not sure what to expect as he watched the priest whisper something to the pharaoh. He glanced at the trader and saw him fiddling with the rope nervously. He shifted from one foot to another trying to shrink away from the pharaoh’s sight, he didn’t want to be a slave...he wanted to go home.
“What do you think? He is lovely, but as the trader said he is not trained.”
Yami looked at the young man again noting how he bowed his head and tried to shrink away from the attention he was drawing. Yami immediately looked around and saw how other traders and buyers were gazing at the boy, many lustfully and felt a wave of jealousy wash over him. Turning back to the trader, he threw him a large pouch, which jingled with coins as the trader caught it. “I’ll have him,” he said nodding to the boy.
The trader hurriedly opened the pouch and snapped it closed once his eyes and taken in what coins were in it. He smiled eagerly and turned to the boy untying his hands and gently pushing him towards the pharaoh. “He is yours great pharaoh,” he smiled before grabbing the rope that held his other slaves and drew them back into the tent.
The pharaoh looked down at the young man before him and nodded to his Head of the Guards. The large man leapt off his camel and picked the boy up placing him on the empty camel behind the pharaoh's animal. Once the boy had been settled, they made their way back to the palace.
