Chapter One: Never Cross Your Master
SMACK!
"Uhhh..."
I felt my master's hand against my face as I fell to the ground hard. I could taste the blood in my mouth...feel it on my face. I grunted and tried to shake off the dazed feeling.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING, KYRA?" my master bellowed his face bright red with anger. "You could've been spotted stealing that!" anceanced up at him shakily. The King of Thieves he was called. His true name...Bakura. He took me in to train me to become his heir when it came time.
I was his daughter due to rape.
"The pharaoh won't be happy to see this!" he growled throwing his hands in the air. "You had to pick his palace to try out, didn't you?" I didn't respond. He kicked me hard in the stomach. "ANSWER ME, YOU WORTHLESS CHILD!" he shouted. "I'm sorry, Master," I whispered as I winced in pain. He snarled and grabbed a whip from the wall. "It appears you need more of a lesson than I thought," he said sternly as he lifted me by my hair and dragged me to another room. He chained my wrists and ankles so that I was appearing to be on a cross.
Ra, have mercy on my soul.
The wind whistled and the pain hit before I felt the actual lash. It managed to tear open my toprevereveal part of my chest to him. The second lash hit baren ann and I looked down to see blood seeping from a gash that could actually kill me. The next lashings tore my clothes and caused the same wounds. I couldn't move due to the chains and shackles holding me there. My head bowed slightly and I bit my lower lip. I had to keep the tears out of his sight. Otherwise, he would beat me worse.
He shook my blood off his whip and forced my head back by my hair so that my eyes stared straight into his. "Let this be a lesson to you," he hissed and left the roo

I was chained for hours. My blood caused drops on the stone floor below me. It was then I heard a commotion outside and slowly lifted my head. It was the Royal Guards. Atemu's men were here. Luckily, my master was gone, but they saw me there. One of the Guards, a blond boy with brown eyes, noticed the condition I was in and released my bonds causing me to fall into his arms.
"Easy there," he said with comfort to his voice. I trembled in his arms. I was scared he would hurt me as well. "The pharaoh shall not harm a child," he said seriously. "We will help you." All I could do was allow myself a small nod before falling unconsious.
Then I woke up lying in the palace.
Unable to move most of my body, I tilted my head to study the room around me. Candles lit around to give a warm glow in the room while the silk curtains fluttered in the breeze. I sighed and noticed my wounds had been treated. I heard a shuffle from nearby and looked toward the door to find the blond Guard standing there. "You're awake," he noticed walking in the room. "Here,'re're safe." I frowned. Safe was par part of my vocabulary. "What's your name?" he asked. "K...Kyra," I whispered. "I'm Jou," he said. "Seth has been by to offer his blessings. He's my master in ways." "He doesn't beat you, does he?" I asked suddenly. He touched my cheek shaking his head. "He loves me," he said. "He asked if I could watcer yer you for now."
"Like a father?"
Jou chuckled softly. "You are rather young," he said. "It could come to that. The pharaoh will have to give me permission gh.\gh." I gave a small smile nodding when another figure stood in the doorway. Jou jumped to his feet and bowed. "Checking on the child, my pharaoh," he said seriously.
Atemu stepped in the room. He always struck me as odd at times. His tri color spiky hair and those crimson eyes were strange. He walked to the bedside and studied me. I saw his sharp glance. "The King of Theives' child," he said with a sharp tone. "She has no business here. I'm surprised we showed her this much kindness." Jou sighed. "She appears no younger than seven or eight," he said seriously. Atemu frowned deeply. "You want a thief to stay here?" he demanded. "Out of the question!" He turned to walk away.
"My pharaoh!"
He turned surprised I spoke to him.
"I'll strike a bargain with you," I said speaking as if I was older than my years. "I'll get you my father in return for me remaining here with Jou...as his daughter." He frowned. "The bargain of a thief," he said stepping closer to me. "I suppose to gain Bakura's capture, I could turn to no one else. It's a deal. However, once your wounds heal, you will be a personal servant of the palace for awhile. Then, when the time comes, you will take me to Bakura. Understand?" I gave a slight nod. "Understood, my pharaoh," I said.
The deal was set.
There was no turning back time.
The heir of the King of Thieves was now to turn the tables and aide in his capture.
I knew it would be a deadly deal, but I didn't care.
