Oni: hey peops! here's a brand new, hot off the press, deliciously dark, dangerously twisted fic. Cass and me are teaming up to bring you this awesome double-header!
Cass: ^_^ As this is a team up of two authors like us there are of course many many warnings ahead for this ficcy
Oni: yes! lots and lots and tons and tons of blood and gore. EXTREME, EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE! of course, what else would you expect from *dear*, *sweet*, *precious* Merik? ^.^ oh, and yaoi! that's boiz loving boiz for the rocket scientists out there. and....*blinks* guess we should tell 'em what the fic's about, ne?
Cass: Its a cross over! Which for me is a first. ^_^ The two of us got stck on an LOTR obession after the last movie. ^_^
Oni: Squee! Return of the King was such a good movie! And so, us being the smart little bunnies we are, decided to take our beloved Yugioh bishies and put them into the world of Middle Earth. I'm playing the parts of Yami and Yugi, and Cass gets her beloved Ishtars. Our pairings so far are Merik x Yugi and Yami x Malik.
Cass: SO. My pretty Malik has beencast into the part of an enslaved by Sauron Wood elf while Merik is a blood thirsty, flesh eating Half Urak-hai. ^_^
Oni: Yami's Sauron's son and Yugi's also an elf. And about the funky title; it means "Hearts In Darkness" Cass came up with it! And I translated it into Elvish, though the translation is VERY rough and loose. My Elvish isn't that great, and neither was the online Evlish dictionary I used and I'm rambling -.-
Cass: So to stop her goings on, we will do the easiest thing and go right onto the story. ^_^ Enjoy!
Oni: Cheesecake! ^.^
DISCLAIMER: stands for entire fic. Neither Cass Oni Oni own Yugioh or Lord Of the Rings. They both belong to some creative rich dudes and other people. Not us. Once again, we do NOT own, and we are making no money off of this.

ELU MIN DUR
hearts in darkness
by Cass and Oni
Long screams echoed through the halls all coming from al dark room towards the top of the tower, all of the sounds of deep agony being drawn from the same beautiful blonde creature. The dark shadow that was Sauron stilled his whip so that he could drag a sharp finger down the back of the beaten and bloodied elf. The blonde creature shuddered all over then started to fight wildly. He would not be a prisoner!
Sauron lifted his whip once more bringing in down on the back that shown with so many marks both new and old that little back was left intact. The elf was his slave, his pet, his experiment and he would break it to his hand.
The elf once more started to struggle but soon pain clouded his vision and his mind. Soon he could only keen in pain and do his best to stay conscious. He was aware that he was being lifted, aware that he was being moved but he wasn't sure where too until he hit the ground. It was warm, covered in hay and had a distinct animal smell.
"We will let the Worg do as it wishes to him. If he survives his breaking will continue." The dark creature turned to leave as the dog beast came out of the corner stalking towards the bleeding elf.
"Backck yck you hideous monster, or I'll carve you like a roast and throw you to the Orcs my father so loves!" Yami's voice was deadly calm and full of threat as it preceded him out of the shadows. He had been holed up in his room, where, when in Mordor, he spent most of his time, when he had heard god-awful cries emanating from Sauron's private chambers. His room of horrors. A room Yami knew too well. Those screams, which sounded so much like Yami's own, had drawn Sauron's son, and he had hid outside the door. He had watched and followed the two stinking Orc guards that had carried the bloodied creature out of Sauron's nest of horrors and dumped him into the Warg's cavern.
The beast growled at him but none the less backed away from the elf that it was about to go at. It was pissed and started to pace back and forth several feet from the elf waiting for the boy to leave so that he could go back to the elf that was laying still on the ground the only signs of life was the rapid rising and falling on his chest.
Yami threateningly held his Sword of Darkness, which was made of a magical black iron from its hilt to the tip of its blade and had been forged by his father. He stepped over the prone and bloodied elf, placing himself between him and the Worg, silently claiming the elf for his own.
Seeing that the animal backed further off, especially since Sauron's son kept his sword between the hairy dog beast and himself, Yami knelt down and gently reached out to touch the elf, brushing back a few bloodied locks of blonde hair.
The elf pulled his head away from him with a weak sound, he wouldn't let Sauron break him! He struggled to get up causing another wash of blood to come from the wounds and several more Worg appeared at the smell, snarling and growling but staying back.
"Get back or I'll kill you all know! The Orcs will eat you just as easily as they ride you!" Yami snarled viciously, raising his sword and letting his black blade clank off the dirty stone floor, sending two more daring Wargs scattering back into the pack. He then turned to the elf, slipping one arm under him. With this much blood loss, they couldn't stay here long; the young elf needed tending. And Yami wanted to get out of here, lest a few of his father's Orcs did actually come. Or worse, his father.
Yami shuddered and looked down at him. "It's alright; I won't hurt you." He whispered as he slipped his free arm under the tanned, torn shoulders, pulling the body to him.
The elf looked up at him dazed then his head slumped back, who had him now? He wanted to fight, wanted to struggle, but he couldn't get his limbs to respond to his orders. He groaned in pain the scent of animals and blood heavy in the air and soon the entire pack was there snarling and snapping at him coming in closer to them some daring to lap at the blood that was on the ground before diving back out of Yami's reach.
Yami cursed the Wargs in every language he knew, even Elven. He smirked as his blade severed the paw of a too-slow Warg; the creature yelped in pain, limping away trailing blood. Four other Wargs seized upon it, their sharp teeth ripping at the disabled creatures flesh, tearing muscle, skin and hair from bone. Suddenly, the body burst into flames, the magic of Yami's blade activating. The other dogs that had eaten parts of that one howled and writhed in pain as their stomachs ignited on fire, burning from the inside out until they, too, burst into flame. The smell of charcoaled, burnt flesh and ash was added to the already putrid stench.
: Yami smirked as the remaining Wargs yelped and scuttled back, terrified. However, with their dim minds, he knew their fear wouldn't last long, and the smell would attract his father's army. "We've really got to get out of here..." He muttered, thunking his blade down in the stone and using it to haul himself and his unknown companion up. The boy wasn't heavy; Yami guessed he was around his weight. It didn't surprise him; Sauron liked them slender, and the emanciated, skeletal look was also a real turn on.
The elven warrior whimpered a little then his form convulsed as the loss of blood started to become to much for his already weakened body to handle. There was the sound of food steps as a regiment of orc started down towards them to see what was going on with the Warg what were making so much noise when all they should be doing was eating an elf.
"Shit.." Yami muttered, and drug the boy back into the shadows, into the narrow, hidden passage in which he'd hidden. The passage was tight; Yami himself could barely fit, and with him holding and supporting the elf, who needed healing very soon, it was a tight fit indeed.
Yami pulled him through the passage, urging him to hold on a few more moments. "We're almost to my room; there I can summon my healer..." He whispered, hoping to give him some encouragement. They could hear and smell the Orcs as they passed, and Yami quickened their pace, wincing at the amount of blood the elf was trailing.
Several of the orc paused sniffing then followed the trail to the small passage, only one creature in this place was small enough te ite it, only one was daring enough to take the elf when it was being trained. Two of the orc were sent to Sauron while the others took the long way to Yami's chambers. They would be eating well tonight of the flesh of Sauron's son.
The elf seemed to be growing paler and weaker, now it was just the fact that yami was dragging him that kept him going. His convulsions had still as shock was setting in. This wasn't what he had meant to happen when his curiosity had drawn him to close to Mordor, he hadn't wanted to be taken here and given as a gift to the darkness.
Yami was panting; carrying the elf and wielding the heavy sword were starting to drain him, especially since he hadn't recovered fully from the last time he'd seen Sauron. He stopped and collapsed to his knees, the elf falling to the floor. "I'm sorry; I can't go on." He gasped out, holding his hand to his own torn side, which had been stitched up by his own little elf, his little slave, Yugi. Damn it to hell....no, wait, they already were in Mordor..... Damn it to Rivendell and back, but, having no healing powers of his own, he sure could use some of Yugi' s elven magic about now.
Malik lay where he was dropped and was still aside from very shallow breaths. He was going to die here, going to be sent on to the next life and his suffering would finally be ended. He shuddered his eyes sinking shut.
"So Yami. You dare to stand against me, how amusing." A voice that came into the mind of his son.
Yami suddenly flinched, curling into a little ball and whimpering. "Ada, no...It...it seems such a waste, to let the Wargs have him....it's too quick a death...."
"Death? No. You misunderstand what that Worg was going to do to his sweet little body." The shadows parted and Sauron stepped from them and walked towards his son and the still wood elf that he had been trying to break. He reached down stroking a finger over the elf and there was a flash of power as life was forced into his body causing him to cry out as a merciful death was stolen from him.
Yami scrambled backwards, shaking like a leaf, pushing himself into the sharp rock wall. "N-no, Ada!" He cried, flinging himself forward as the young elf cried. "What have you done?"
Sauron looked at his son, "I wont let him off so easily. He is mine." He said then grabbed the blonde by the back of his neck forcing him to his feet, "As for you. You are going to be punished."
Yami whimpered and curled up once more, trembling, starting to rock slightly.
Hearing the elf's own cry seemed to bring a small measure of sanity back to the prince. "He's done n-nothing! He's just an elf!"
"Just an elf? This one was trespassing, besides these disgusting things stood against me with the humans so long ago. I will torture everyone that comes across my path." he said then started for his chambers dragging the elf along, "Lets go Yami."
: Yami whimpered, shaking his head and shrinking back against the rock, before his father reached out with invisible hands and used his powers to yank his son along.
The chamber doors shut with a thud of finality and Sauron released his hold on his son dragging the elf over to chain him to wall facing leaving his beaten back exposed. He reached out to run a finger over the wounds then smiled looking at Yami, "Are you whining and cowering again Yami?"
Yami was too deep in fear to answer. He hated this place..this chamber of death. He had his back once more pressed against the crudely hewn walls, as if they would absorb him and offer an escape. His ruby eyes were wide with terror, and he looked anywhere except at his father and his instruments of torture.
"Come now. To my side and I may choose to forgive what you have done."
Yami whimpered once more, but slowly, hesitantly came somewhat near his side.
Well, he wasn't pressed against the wall anymore. He looked at the young elf's back and winced, knowing wha what it felt like to be bound there.
Sauron reached over taking up a rising crop that had sharp spines on it and gave it Yami, "Show me you are my son."
Yami recoiled sharply from the weapon. Having been on the receiving end of it many a time, there was no way in all of Mordor that he could ever wield it. As for being Sauron's son....he'd wi the the seas dry that he wasn't.
"Ada...this isn't right.."
Sauron made a growling sound, then held it out to him again.
: Yami wrapped his arms around himself and stepped further back, shaking his head.
Sauron swung bring it down on Yami's shoulder then kicked him away, "Useless! Coward!" He snarled.
Yami screamed as the spikes tore his own shoulder, and he flew several feet in the air before hitting a rock wall then falling to the floor. He coughed, dragging himself to his hands and knees. "STOP!" He screamed.
Sauron turned to his blonde prey stroking the weapon over the torn flesh several times then slammed it into him drawing a scream from the pretty elf who started to writhe to get away from the weapon.
Yami cried out, mostly in fear, but a bit of anger as well. This elf-whom he didn't even know his name- reminded him so much of himself.....Yami felt connected to him somehow, and that was more than Yami ever felt. He pushed himself up and rushed forward, wrapping his hands around the handle and tugging on it, fighting for his father to stop.
"Do you want to protect him? I will give him to you... if..."
"If.....?" Yami ceased his struggling, glancing warily at his father.
He released the weapon so that Yami held it.
Yami shuddered, completely torn. If he did it, then he got to keep him. If he didn't.....Yami gulped, knowing the latter would definitely be more painful. For the both of them.
Shaking like a leaf, Yami gripped the weapon in his sweaty palms and raised it, closed his eyes, and swung, barely hitting the elf.
Sauron crossed his arms and just starred at him waiting.
He sighed heavily, bit his lip, and swung hard, connecting with the elf's back.
The blonde cried out again his form arching and Sauron laughed.
Yami shuddered, a sorrowful look in his eyes as he swung again, this time hitting the shoulder, turning it so the spikes ripped the flesh.
Sauron's laughter escalated as his son drew one of those sounds that showed the elf was in agony, Sauron took up another weapon, a curved blade and he swung. The elf let out a scream as his Achilles tendon was severed. "He's all yours."
Yami cried out and jumped away as Sauron flung the sword, thinking he was aiming for him. He shuddered as he heard the elf's scream, which felt like it was being torn from his own throat. He merely nodded his head, hoping his father would leave them alone.
Sauron walked away from his son and the elf smiling. Even if the elf got away from him he would still suffer with the pain of never walking again and of the fact that his 'savoir' had hurt him. The elf couldn't hear Sauron's voice as Yami did so he had no idea it was an order and never would.
Soon as his father was gone, Yami dropped his weapon, which splashed in a pool of the elf's blood. He stared down in horror at his blood soaked hands, and fell weeping at the elf's feet, sobbing over and over again, "I'm sorry."
The blonde hung against the bonds that held him and was silent aside from his pain filled breathing.
Yami cried, his tears falling down his blood spattered face, then, he gasped in horror when he realized he could hardly hear his breathing...and the rise and fall of his chest was very faint. He needed help, and fast.
He chided himself, his tears still falling, then he reached up, standing on tip toe, loosloosened the wood elf's bonds; the supple body fell limply into his arms, carrying them both to the ground. He grunted, and stood up, supporting the elf, and whispered a magical chant, so that the prone body was suddenly lighter than a feather, and carried him out of the torture chamber, running past the Orcs, who leered at them, and rushing to the safety of his room. He laid the elf on his own bed and collapsed onto his knees besides the bed.
The elf wasn't moving, and Yami continued sobbing, horrified at what he'd just done. He gasped when he felt a small hand on his shoulder. He looked up, ruby eyes frightened. "Y-Yugi.." He nearly smiled with relief at the petite elf, the son of Galadriel.
"He's..Sauron's...m-my pet now....He needs help.." Yami shook himself, wishing his mind wasn't so frazzled that he couldn't think straight. How could he forget how much trouble the elf was in?
Yugi smiled reassuringlyYamiYami, his master, and, patting his shoulder, stepped to the head of the bed, leaned forward, and laid both small, pale hands on his fellow elf; both their bodies glowed with a white light, and the majority of the elf's wounds healed.
Malik's form gave a shiver then he opened his tired purple eyes looking around then up at the elf in confusion.
Yugi smiled gently down at him. "You're still in Mordor, but you're in Prince Yami's room; you're safe." He said, gently stroking thher her elf's cheek.
Malik let out a little sob his fear showing in his eyes now that he was no longer with Sauron.
"Shh, you're safe. S-sau..h-he..he never bothers Yami's room." Yugi said, shivering in fear over the name of the Dark Lord.
Malik nodded but couldn't seem to stop the sudden flow of tears that came from his eyes.
The small elf leaned over and gently hugged him, mindful of his remaining injuries. Yami had stopped his own crying by now, wiped his face, then reached over and gently, hesitantly took hold of one of the elf's hands.
The blonde elf looked up at Yami then started to struggled to get away from his touch fear flooding his eyes again.
Yami pulled back, afraid he'd hurt him again. "I'm sorry, but it was the only way I could save you."
The elf made a shaky sound and tried to hide behind the other elf.
Yugi seated himself on the edge of the bed, the elf's head behind his back, letting him feel like he was hidden. He looked with worried purple eyes at his master. "Yami, what happened?"
Yami trembled and held out his bloodstained hands for Yugi to see; the little elf gasped. "I had no choice..Ada said if I...I hurt him, then I could keep him...if not..." Yami trailed off, looking down and shuddered.
Yugi looked sympathetically at Yami. "Maybe you'd better go wash...you'd feel better..." He said, urging Yami to leave; he was worried about the new elf. Yami absently nodded and got up, heading to his private bathing chamber, which was just a basin at the far end of the room.
Yugi then turned back to the other elf. "It's alright."
Malik gave a little whimper gazing up at him fear and hope warring in his eyes.
"Please, don't be afraid." Yugi said, smiling gently. "You're probably thirsty...would you l like some water?"
"P-Please." He said his voice ragged.
Yugi gave his hand a brief squeeze and reached over to the small table next to the bed; he grabbed a dented metal pitcher, poured some slightly muddy water in a rusted tin cup. "Sorry about the water; it's the cleanest in all of Mordor." He said sarcastically as he lifted the elf's head up a bit and held the cup to his lips.
Malik drank it down in deep thirsty gulps as he hadn't had a drink in all of the time that he had been here, nearly three days, and no food either. Just pain and fear.
Yugi kept pouring him more until he'd drunk his fill. "I'd get you food, but it'll have to wait until Yami can order something from the kitchens. Unless you'd care for a piece of rotted fruit." He added regretfully, wishing he had something better to offer their guest.
"Can I have it?" He asked not caring that it was bad he was so very hungry.
Yugi nodded, glancing over at Yami who was taking his time washing, and picked the fruit up from its place besides the now empty water pitcher. He flicked a few flies off it, tore of the more disgusting parts, dropping them upon the dirt floor, and held the fruit up to his lips.
Malik ate it eagerly even mostly bad it was the best thing he had ever tasted.
"I'm sorry we don't have anything better to offer. Now, if we were in my home, you could have some of the freshest, ripest fruits Lorthriendel had to offer." He sighed wistfully. He hadn't seen home in a long time.
He looked over at the elf then sighed. If he was here, if he was of such a place and still trapped, then Malik himself had no hope for escape did he?
Yugi rested both his hands on top of his. "It...it's not so bad here....well, you get used to the stench of Orc, at any rate. And Yami's kind."
"Besides..." Yugi whispered, lowering his head so only the elf could hear him. "I hold hope that one day, someone will come along and destroy the Ring..then we'll be free."
Malik nodded then relaxed somewhat. He would have to make do.
"I thank you."
Yugi smiled. "You're welcome.." He blinked, just realizing something. "I don't even know your name. I'm Yugi of Lothriendiel, son of Galadriel. And the naked boy over there is Yami, son of Sauron."
"Son... Son of Sauron?" He murmured then looked at Yugi, "I'm Malik."
"Nice to meet you, Malik. Or, it would be under better circumstances. You're from Mirkwood, aren't you? I've seen few woodland elves in my time..."
Malik nodded weakly remembering his home with desperate longing.
Yugi tucked his legs up under him. "It's not so painful after a while...you soon forget... the warmth of the sun...the wind whispering through the trees...fresh fruit...pure water...." he shook his head sadly, looking pitifully at Malik.
The wood elf whimpered, he didn't want for that to happen! He wanted to go home! "I wanna go home!" He cried and pushed himself off the bed and took a step before he fell hard onto his side as he realized that he couldn't walk anymore.
"Malik!" Yugi cried, instantly going over to his side and trying to lift him up. Unfortunately, Yugi was too little, too weak. But Yami, freshly bathed, well, at least as fresh as you could be in Mordor, and clothed came over, reached down and pulled Malik up, scooping him up into his arms, able to carry him the few feet to the bed. "You're calf's been severed; you must rest." He said gently setting him down.
"No." He thought his heart racing as he looked down at the wound then let out a sob.
Yami knelt down, reaching out and cupping his cheek. "Yugi, can you heal Malik's calf?"
Yugi sadly shook his head and took one of the elf's hands, squeezing it gently. "It's alright to cry...it might ease the pain..." He said, knowing all the tears he'd shed his first days hadn't helped him any.
Malik's form started to shake all over but he didn't cry he just seemed to crumble internally.
Yami leaned over and hugged him, pulling him to his chest and rubbing his back, unable to stand the shattered look in his eyes.
Yugi let Yami comfort the young immortal. "I wish I could offer you some hope, Malik...."
Yami snorted bitterly. "There's no hope in Mordor, Yugi."
Malik clung to him in silence. He would never escape, he couldn't even walk he would never be able to get home, would never be able to run through the beautiful fields and woods again.
Yami kissed his cheek, unsure of what to do. "You'll learn to walk again, in time." His heart broke at the thought of this seemingly spirited boy limping, dragging his forever impaired foot behind him.
Yugi shook his head sadly. "It'll..it'll...it won't be alright...but...you've got us here with you."
Malik shudders got worse as he fought of total despair. In time? No. No in time. When he regain his ability to move he would throw himself from Mordor's tower.
Seeing the look in his eyes over Yami's shoulder, Yugi shook his head. "There's no windows in here, Malik. And it's too dangerous to ever leave the room, especially with all the Orcs around."
Yami tightened his hold on Malik.
"Then I will let them kill me."
Yami said nothing, just stayed still with Malik in his arms. Yugi squealed and shook his head, both small fists coming up to his cheeks in horror. "You don't know how terrible those monsters are! I've seen them rip each other apart over pieces of meat-"
Yami laughed, burying his face in Malik's hair. Yugi glared at him. "That wasn't funny, Yami! That ham yesterday was supposed to be our supper, but you threw it to the Orcs-"
Yami laughed harder. "Scratched and clawed each other's eyes out. Served the buffoons right. Besides, they were two of Ada's captains. Set him back a bit."
"Can you put me down?"
Yami nodded, blushing a bit and released Malik. Yugi giggled.
Malik pulled himself towards the middle of the bed and curled up in a ball.
"Malik? What's wrong?" Yami reached out and started rubbing his back while Yugi scooted up to his front.
Malik didn't answer, how... why would he ask him such? What was wrong! What the hell did he think!
Yugi shook his head at Yami then put his nose against Malik's. "Don't give up hope. you may yet see your family, your land...Sauron's hold can't last forever, can it? Besides..." He shot Yami a swift look. "I heard some Orcs talking a few months ago; they'd captured the creature Gollum...I don't know what it means, but..it has something to do with the Ring. Sauron doesn't have it..."
"How can I have hope? I wont be able to go back to my people, even if I get out they are leaving on the boats, going across the ocean."
Yugi looked down as well. "At least you won't be the only elf left behind."
Malik blinked, "I'm so sorry."
Yugi blinked as well. "For what?"
"I didn't think when I spoke. You must be suffering too."
Yugi shook his head and pulled Malik into a hug. "I'm used to it; it's you I worry about; going through so much, in one day..."
"Everyone suffers here. Welcome to Mordor." Yami said somewhat bitterly.
Malik flinched.
"Sorry." Yami amended, reaching over and running a hand through Malik's hair. "You're hairs so soft. and pretty."
Malik let his eyes sink shut desperate for a gentle touch after the past few days.
Yami smiled a little, glad that the elf didn't' fear his touch anymore, and continued to stroke his hair, lulling him to sleep.
Malik made a small sound holding his hands out to Yugi.
Yugi scooted forward, grabbing his hands and pulling him back into his arms, rubbing his back soothingly. "I'm here." He whispered.
: Malik's form started to relax more then it had for a while and his mind started to grow tired.
"You can sleep; I won't leave, I promise." Yugi whispered, stroking Malik's hair in Yami's stead. When Malik pulled out of his arms, Yami got a hurt look in his eyes. He met Yugi's eyes briefly before standing up and walking to the other side of the room.
"Yami... will stay too right?" He asked.
Yugi smiled looklooked at Yami, who blinked. Yugi motioned Yami back over, and Yami sat down near him, but didn't touch him, not wanting to make Malik afraid. "Yami's here, too." He said, watching the brief smile flit over Yami's face.
"good." He murmured.
Yugi fell backwards, pushed down by Malik's weight, as the boy fell asleep, using Yugi's shoulder as a pillow. The little elf just sighed and snuggled up with him. Yami laughed and laid down as well.
