Wild Angels
Ring… Ring… Ring… Ring… Ring…
“What?” came the annoyed, heavy dialect of Joey Wheeler.
“Oh,” his voice seemed to lighten a bit. “Sorry Yueg, I just… Sorry.
What’s up?”
“I think you know,” Yugi replied. There was a pause on the other end
and so he continued. “Kaiba…?”
A vicious growl from the other boy caused Yugi to flinch, holding
the
phone a few inches away from his ear. “I don’t wanna talk about him,”
Joey snarled.
Yugi sighed. “Joey, calm down. Now I know you’re upset…”
“Upset?” Joey echoed. “Upset? Who the hell’s upset? I ain’t upset
over that guy!”
Another sigh. “Please, calm down. Joey, I really think you need
to talk to Kaiba. It’s been six months since you started going out and…
Well… You two have so many differences that you’re constantly at each
other’s throats. More than you use to be. I think it’s about time you
and him sat down and worked some things out.”
“I don’t wanna work nothin’ out with him,” Joey pouted.
“That’s not true and you know it,” Yugi responded with a bit
more of an edge to his voice than meant. “You love him and he loves
you. You just have to work together to make your relationship work.
Just like anyone else would have to.”
There was a pause on the other end. “You’re… You’re right,”
came the reply finally. “You’re right. I’ll… I’ll talk to him. What do
you suggest?”
“That’s up to you and him,” Yugi said. “Now I want you to go over to
his house and talk to him. Right now.”
“Now?”
“Now.”
Joey sighed. “Fine. Thanks Yueg. You’re a lifesaver.”
“Anything for a friend,” Yugi answered. “Bye Joey. Good luck.”
“Bye.”

Slowly, the large mahogany door opened and Joey gazed through his
drenched blonde bangs to find the smooth, handsome face of Seto Kaiba.
The icy blue eyes narrowed slightly and a cold voice hissed,
“We need to talk Kaiba,” the blonde responded.
“I don’t have time to waste,” the brunette snarled, moving to
shut the door again. Joey grabbed the side of the door, preventing it
from moving any farther.
“Do you love me?”
The question hit Kaiba with more iciness and coldness than he
could have ever managed. He searched the other’s eyes, looking for some
hint of trickery, but found none. Joey was completely serious.
“Why’re you asking that?” Kaiba answered with a question of his own.
“You know I do. It’s just…”
“I ,,” Joey intervened before he finished. “I just wanna talk,
okay?”
There was an awkward pause as Kaiba watched as raindrops fell
from the gutter to the pavement, from the trees to the grass, from the
sky to Joey’s head. Finally, he sighed. “Fine, come in. I’ll get a
towe you you can dry off.”
Kaiba stepped back and Joey came inside the richly decorated
entranceway. The brunette disappeared for only a moment and reemerged
with a soft, cotton towel with which Joey began drying himself off.
“Haven’t you ever heard of an umbrella?” Kaiba questioned as he
leaned against the wall waiting for him to finish.
“Yeah,” Joey replied, relieving himself of the water in his blonde
locks. “Now ask my dad if he has.”
Kaiba raised an eyebrow. “You don’t have an umbrella? Remind me to
give you one before you leave.”
Joey finished with the now-drenched towel. “Sure thing. Now where
can we talk without being interrupted?”
“Anywhere. Take your pick.”
Joey thought a moment, his mind racing over the dozens of rooms
in the Kaiba mansion he had been in. Finally, he decided on the room
that held the most memories for the two of them.
“Your office,” he said. It was where they had first kissed,
much to the surprise of both of them. Joey Wheeler and Seto Kaiba were
hardly the best of friends, let alone the best of boyfriends.
Kaiba gave a nod of his head. “Fine. Let’s go then.”
The taller of the boys led the way down the hallway and the two
of them walked single file until they arrived at the rich double doors
of Kaiba’s private office. The brunette opened the door and gestured
for Joey to enter. He did so and Kaiba followed after and closed the
door behind him.
“Take a seat.”
Joey complied, sitting in the comfortable chair behind Kaiba’s
desk. The CEO frowned at this but let it pass. He pulled another chair
over and sat opposite the blonde who was leaning back, making himself
comfortable in the expensive office chair.
“Well?”
Joey sat up. “Okay, here’s the thing. You and me, we fight too
much.”
“Really.” It was a statement, not a question.
“Really. And I think we better do somethin’ about it.”
“Such as?”
“Okay this is what I was thinkin’,” Joey began. “We sit here
together and we get some shit off our chests. Y’know, like tell each
other the shit that pisses us off about the other guy.”
Kaiba leaned back and crossed a slender leg over the other. “All
right, you have my interest.”
“Good,” the blonde said, leaning back as well. “I’ll--”
“I’ll start,” the brunette cut him off. Joey’s eyes flashed
angrily but he said nothing else, allowing the other to continue.
“You,” Kaiba said. “eat too much.”
Joey sat up. “You callin’ me fat?”
“I didn’t say that,” Kaiba frowned. “I said you eat too much. You’re
expensive to kept fed.”
The blonde relaxed. “Okay, that’s fair. I admit that.” He leaned
back. “I eat too much. Ya got some paper somewhere?”
“The second drawer on the left,” Kaiba replied. “What do you need
paper for?’
“We’re gonna write these down,” he replied. “You tell me what’s
wrong with me and I w it it down, I tell you what’s wrong with you and
you write it down. Then we have ‘em to look at later.” He brought out a
notebook of paper, tore off two pieces and handed one to Kaiba. They
each took a pen from the desktop. “Okay, eat… too… much,” Joey wrote.
“My turn. You growl too much.”
“I do not growl,” Kaiba responded, glaring at him.
“What the hell? You growl all the time!” Joey exclaimed. “C’mon
Kaib, you gotta trust me on this. You growl way too much.”
“I don’t growl.”
Joey sighed. “Just write it down, will ya?”
“ No. I don’t growl.”
“Look, this is something that bothers me, okay? I don’t care if
you agree or not. It’s what I think and I want you to write it down.”
Kaiba began making a slight noise in his throat and stopped
abruptly.
“Ha! You growled!”
“I did not.”
“You did too!”
“I hiccupped.”
“That was one crazy-ass hiccup,” Joey said. “That was a growl.”
“Was not.”
“Was too! Now write it down!”
“No.”
Joey sighed again. “Kaib, you ain’t cooperating. You don’t think
as we keep doin’ this you’re gonna say somethin’ I don’t think is true?
C’mon Kaiba, let’s do this, okay?”
Kaiba mumbled something but wrote it down regardless. “Now it’s
my turn.” He looked at Joey leaning back comfortably in his favorite
chair. “You whine.”
“What?” Joey blinked, sitting up. “Whine?”
“You’re always whining about something. Nothing ever seems to make
you happy.”
“Now you take that back!” Joey protested. “Things make me happy.”
“Some things do. But you’re always whining about the things that
don’t.”
“I don’t whine,” Joey pouted.
“Then I don’t growl.”
“Fine, I’ll put it down,” Joey grumbled. “Wise-ass.”
Kaiba smirked as Joey scribbled down the word “whines” onto his
paper.
“Okay wise-ass,” the blonde said, crossing his arms. “Your feet.”
Kaiba raised an eyebrow. “My feet?”
Joey nodded. “Your feet. They’re too big.”
The brunette sat up straight. “What do you mean?”
“I mean they’re too big. I mean, what size do you wear? Twenty-two?”
Kaiba frowned. “My feet are not too big.”
“You know what that’s called?” Joey asked. “Denial.”
“Denial?” Kaiba echoed.
Joey nodded. “Denial. Your feet’re too big and you won’t admit it.”
“And what do you expect me to do about it?”
Joey blinked. “I dunno. This ain’t about improving
ourselves, it’s just us sayin’ what irks us about each other. And it
irks me that your feet are so big.”
Kaiba sighed, shaking his head, but wrote it down regardless. “You
know what they say about big feet, don’t you?”
“Eh?” Joey inquired. “What?”
“Never mind, Pup. Never mind.” Kaiba smirked. “But it does bring
me on to the next irk I have about you. I wasn’t going to mention it
because there’s nothing you can do to change it, but if you want it
that way, then I’ll play it that way.”
“Just get on with it,” Joey said, leaning back and setting his feet
on the smooth wood of Kaiba’s desk.
“Your dick’s too small.”
Joey’s face flushed a brilliant red as he fell over backwards in the
chair. He landed with a loud thud
on his back and rolled out of the cushiony seat. Kaiba suppressed his
cold laughter as the blonde struggled to his feet, setting the chair
back up on its wheeled legs. “What the hell did you just say?”
“You heard me,” Kaiba responded, watching as Joey sat back down
in the chair, his face so red it would make a ripe tomato jealous.
“I-- You-- How-- I--,” Joey stammered, searching for something
intelligent to say. “How could you say that?”
“Easily,” the brunette replied. “Seriously Pup, have you ever looked
at yourself?”
Joey’s face somehow managed to become redder. “I don’t know what
you’re talkin’ about Kaib. I mean come on, I…” He gulped, his throat
suddenly dry. “Not all of us can have a cock like a god.”
Kaiba sneered. “You mean like me,” he said.
“Don’t let it go to your head,” Joey mumbled. “You actually expect
me to write that down?”
Kaiba nodded. “Do it.”
Joey sighed but complied, not wanting Kaiba to have any reason
not to write anything he said down. “You’re really askin’ for it,
Kaib.”
Kaiba said nothing. He simply smiled widely with his cold blue eyes
shimmering. Joey could almost see the ego swelling.
“You’re too organized,” Joey stated.
Kaiba looked at him. “That’s a flaw?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Joey nodded. “I mean, you alphabetize your books!”
Kaiba raised an eyebrow. “Yes, I do. A lot of people do.”
“You alphabetize your shoes!”
Kaiba frowned. “In case I need to throw on a pair that corresponds
to the business I’m meeting, I need to know which are which.”
“Right, right,” Joey smiled. “What about your color-coded pastels in
the other room?”
“So I can compare the different shades to each other,” the
brunette said, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair, looking
like a pouting child.
“Your coats in order from longest to shortest?”
Kaiba’s frown deepe
“Your limos in alphabetical order by license plate? How you yell
at Mokuba if his Gamecube games aren’t in alphabetical order? The way
you always gotta put the balls in number order after we’re done playing
pool?”
“All right!” Kaiba practically shouted. “I’m too organized. But I
don’t yell at Mokuba.”
“I’ll grant ya that one, I guess,” Joey replied. “You don’t yell at
the kid.”
Kaiba scribbled some words down on his paper. Then he leaned back,
his brow furrowed in aggravation. “Your hair is filthy.”
“My hair?” Joey asked, touching the blonde mass on his head.
“Yes, your hair. How many times do you wash it a month? Three? Two?”
“Hey, I wash my hair every time I take a shower,” Joey growled.
“And how often is that? Once every two or three weeks?”
“That ain’t true and you know it!” Joey snarled. “I take a shower at
least every other day!”
“Hmph,” Kaiba huffed. “Sure Pup. Now tell me how often you brush
it.”
“I-- I brush it every now and then,” Joey responded.
Kaiba sighed. “Pup, you disgust me.”
“Shut up. I’ll write it down and we can move on, kay?” He did
so, then folded his hands together on the desk. “You’re too bossy.”
Kaiba simply wrote it down without saying anything. Joey regarded
him curiously. “What? Cat got your tongue?”
Kaiba looked at him. “Mokuba tells me I’m too bossy all the
time. So does Roland. As does Lewis, Carrie, Mark, Setsuko, Greg, and a
mess of other people. I’m working on it.”
“Oh,” Joey blinked. “Okay then. Your turn.”
“You are too aggressive,” Kaiba said. “You take everything as an
invitation to a fight.”
“Like you don’t,” Joey scoffed. “I didn’t say I don’t,” Kaiba replied. “I just said you do.̶“Fine, whatever,” Joey said. “We’ll both write it down, okay?”
“Fine with me. Then I suppose it’s my turn again.”
“What? What about my turn?”
“You had your turn. You said I was also too aggressive. Now it’s my
turn again.”
Joey stuck his lips out in a pout. “Fine, hurry up.”
“Don’t rush me, Pup,” Kaiba said, a slight vibration in his throat.
“You growled!”
“What?”
“You growled, just then! You did!” Joey said excitedly, pointing an
accusing finger at the brunette.
“I did not!” Kaiba responded. “I cleared my throat. I didn’t growl.”
“Denial again,” Joey said. “You are so in denial, you deny it!”
“Pup, don’t push me any farther!” Kaiba warned.
“Oh, I ain’t pushed you yet,” Joey replied. “Now, this
is pushin’ you!” He leapt forward, sliding across the smooth desk and
tackling Kaiba in the chair he was still seated in. The brunette gave a
startled cry as he fell backwards with the blonde on top of him.
“What the fuck--?!” Kaiba snarled before his lips were engulfed
in the mouth of Joey Wheeler. The brunette struggled for for a moment
until he calmed and accepted the unexpected kiss, then responded with
his own lips moving over the blonde’s with passion. Joey shifted his
body on top of the brunette, getting a more comfortable position as the
boys licked each other, their tongues intertwining lovingly. Kaiba let
out a small moan.
“You growled again,” Joey observed, his teeth gently ensnaring
Kaiba’s bottom lip.
“I did not!” Kaiba responded. Neither of them could be heard very
clearly, their mouth features intertwined as they were.
“Did too!” Joey mumbled. “You growled!”
“Pup, get off of me! Now!”
“Admit it, you growl.”
Kaiba’s eyes narrowed as he took a fist and slammed it into
Joey’s gut. The blonde grunted and rolled off of the CEO onto the
floor.
“Damn, what was that for?” the blonde groaned.
“You’re whining,” Kaiba pointed out.
“Am not!”
“Are too.” Kaiba stood and walked over to the boy on the floor,
standing over him like a monument. “You whine.” He sat down, straddling
Joey’s hips and rubbing a spindly hand on the blonde’s stomach. “And I
didn’t hit you that hard.”
Joey opened his eyes, looking up at the brunette with a slight
smirk. “I know. Thought I’d try to make ya feel bad. Didn’t work
though.”
Kaiba smirked back. “Of course not. You weren’t using the puppy dog
eyes.”
“You mean these?” Joey asked, opening his eyes wide as they
shimmered with large crocodile tears. Kaiba sneered.
“Hardly. Now get out of my office, I got things to do.” He stood
and reached out a hand to help the blonde to his feet. Joey took it and
was raised up, brushing himself off.
“Okay Kaib,” Joey said. “I’m glad we got some things straightened
out at least. You still mad at me?”
“Mad at you? For what?” Kaiba blinked, thinking.
“Uh, nothing, nothing,” Joey replied, shrugging. “Nothing.”
“Wait, you mean about your ‘Duel Disk up your ass’ comment
earlier?” Kaiba snarled, his eyes flashing angrily. “Wheeler, you
uneducated idiot! Get out of here!”
“Who you callin’ an idiot, punk?” Joey retorted.
“Get out!”
“Ain’t gotta tell me twice,” the blonde mumbled, turning. “Three
times. Whatever.” He went out the door, slamming it behind him. He
leaned up against the door, his thoughts returning to the arrogant CEO
inside. “God Kaib, you make me mad. But what’d I do without ya?”
Kaiba stared at the closed door for a moment. “Stupid loveable
mutt,” he mused.
Between the perfect world and the bottom line
Keeping love alive in these troubled times
It's a miracle in itself
And we know too well what that's about
Still we made it through, only God knows how
We must've had a little help
Must've been
Wild angels, wild angels
Watching over you and me
Wild Angels, Wild Angels
Baby what could it be
Well it must've been hard, it must've been tough
Keeping up with crazy fools like us
'Cause it's so easy to fall apart
And we still break each other's heart sometimes
Spent some nights on the jagged side
Somehow we wake up in each other's arms
Must've been
Wild angels, wild angels
Watching over you and me
Wild Angels, Wild Angels
Baby what could it be
There are some nights
I watch you while you dream
I swear I hear the sound of beating wings
Wild angels, wild angels
Watching over you and me
Wild angels, wild angels
Baby what could it be
