Chapter 9

White Tulips

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Ryou ran from Otogi’s office in tears. As he left, he had to stop and vomit in the bushes outside. Nakazawa was just about to turn the corner when he glanced into his review mirror and saw Ryou running down the street. He blinked, and then grinned. This may work to his advantage. Ryou ran across the street and into the park where he would sometimes have lunch with Otogi. He sobbed to himself, his heart in shatters, the shards lacerating his very soul. A group of boys smoking some joints and shooting up blinked as the boy tore by, sobbing his heart out. They watched Ryou go, then shrugged and continued with their illegal activities.

Ryou continued to run, but eventually, he ended up back at his home. He went up to the door, and after a moment, he knocked. A few moments passed, and the door opened.

“Ryou?” Marik asked, and stared. Ryou looked up, then turned and retched into the flower bed. Marik blinked. “Ryou, what’s wrong?” He reached out and pulled Ryou into the house.

“Ryou?” Bakura called, walking into the room in his underwear. Ryou hurled himself into Bakura’s arms.

“Y-yami…..” Ryou wailed, and sobbed into the white devil’s chest.

“Ryou! What’s wrong?!” Bakura gasped, and pulled Ryou into the living room. “Where’s Otogi?” At the sound of that name, Ryou let out a moan. Marik blinked.

“Ryou, did something happen between you two?” The tan yami asked, and Ryou only sobbed in response. Bakura rocked his hikari, and Marik stroked Ryou’s hair, both crooning softly to the hikari, until the boy had cried himself to sleep. Once Ryou was out cold, Bakura carried his little light up to his room, and he and Marik stripped Ryou to his boxers. Marik went and got the thermometer. Bakura stuck it into Ryou’s ear and pushed the button, then looked at the digital number.

“102.7.” He said, and stroked Ryou’s sweaty forehead. Marik nodded.

“Itemri….”

“Yes?”

“I’m gonna go have a talk with Dice Boy.”

“Please do.” Bakura growled. “I wanna know what the fuck happened.” Marik nodded and turned to leave while Bakura turned back to tend to his sick hikari.

………………

Otogi headed down the stairs, grumbling about the pounding on his front door. He opened it and gasped as he immediately found himself pinned to the wall.

“What the fuck did you do to Ryou?!” Marik roared, the Sennen Eye glowing on his forehead. Otogi’s eyes widened, then narrowed.

“I dumped him, that’s what.” Otogi growled, then yelped as Marik slugged him in the jaw, sending him crashing to the floor.

“He showed up on the front porch, sick and crying his eyes out.”

“GOOD!!” Otogi screamed back, and retreated from the furious yami. “I never want to see that whore again!!! Now get out or I’ll call security!!!” Marik snarled.

“I’m sparing you, Dice Boy… Because Bakura will want to finish you off.” And he turned and left. Half an hour later, Marik entered Ryou’s room.

“So?” Bakura asked, seeing Marik’s look of fury.

“That bastard dumped Ryou.”

“What?!” Bakura gasped.

“Called him a whore. Said he never wanted to see Ryou again.” Marik said. “Something’s wrong. That isn’t like our dear beloved Dice Boy.”

“Yes…” Bakura murmured. “I think they’re both not telling us something.” He pet Ryou’s hair, gently.

……………

Otogi paced around his office, still fuming about Ryou. His office door opened.

“Where is he?” Nakazawa demanded.

“He’s not coming any more.” Otogi said. Nakazawa blinked, and then glared.

“You’d just leave him to me?”

“HE is no longer MY problem.” Otogi snapped.

“Ahh… I see. You split up. Hmmm… shame, really. I quite enjoyed my session with him.”

“Shut up.” Otogi snarled. “Take your thousand and go.”

“ONE thousand? It’s still four thousand, Ryuuji. One thousand for each of you for your…. Bodies… one thousand to keep you out of jail and one thousand to keep him from Social Services.”

“You’re getting two thousand.” Otogi snapped, and got out another thousand, passing it to Nakazawa. “Ryou is not my concern any longer.”

“Then I’ll just head over to his home and…. Take him for a spin.” Otogi winced. “Unless you wish to pay for his safety for the next twenty four hours.” Otogi shifted and looked down at his desk. He was angry, but…. He still loved the little albino. And… He was a hikari. He could never abandon Ryou to be raped.

“Fine.” He snapped, and handed over another thousand. “Now get out.” Nakazawa grinned.

“Have a good night. We’ll see how long you last without your little toy to fuck.” And he slammed the door on Otogi’s furious look. Nakazawa grinned as he went out to his car. Otogi only paid him three thousand… He picked up his phone and dialed Social Services.

……………

Bakura sighed and got up when there was a knock on the door. He went to answer it. Outside stood a man and a pair of police.

“Is this the Bakura home?”

“Yes.” Bakura said.

“Are you Ryou Bakura?”

“…… no. Bakura Itemri.”

“Bakura! Who is it?” Marik asked, walking in.

“And you are?” An officer asked.

“Marik Ishtar.” Bakura said. “What do you want?”

“I need to speak with Ryou Bakura.” The man in the suit said. Bakura blinked, then nodded.

“He’s sick right now.”

“Who is caring for him?”

“We are.” Marik said, coming up behind Bakura.

“Where are his parents?”

“His mother is dead. His father is out of town on business.”

“What does his father do?”

“He’s an archeologist.” Bakura said, leading them upstairs. “Who are you?”

“I’m from Social Services.” The man said, and Bakura blinked as they entered Ryou’s room. He sat by Ryou’s bed and stroked his face.

“Ryou? Ry, wake up.” He called, and Ryou slowly opened his eyes. “Some guy from Social Services wants to see you.” Ryou’s eyes widened.

“what? NO!! NO!! PLEASE, DON’T TAKE ME!!!” Ryou cried, automatically panicking. Bakura and Marik blinked.

“Mr. Bakura, I must ask you a few questions.” The man said. “How long has your father been gone?” Ryou refused to answer.

“Four months.” Bakura finally said, and Ryou hid his face in his yami’s shoulder.

“Four months?”

“He visited a month and a half ago.” Bakura said. “For a week. But he’s at a dig.”

“I see. How long was he home for before this dig?”

“Umm… two weeks?”

“and how long was he gone before that?”

“Uh… about six, seven months.”

“I see.” The man said, and Bakura narrowed his eyes, not liking that tone in the man’s voice. “Then I’m afraid that what has been reported is true.”

“And what was reported?” Bakura asked. “And by who?”

“I cannot divulge who. But the report was that a minor by the name of Ryou Bakura was living without the proper guardianship of his father, Yaten Bakura. I am afraid that Ryou will need to come with me.”

“WHAT?!” Bakura and Marik roared, and Ryou began to cry.

“Should you attempt to prevent me from carrying out the removal of Mr. Bakura, I will have you two arrested.” The Social Worker said. And fifteen minutes later, Bakura and Marik were watching the car drive away with Ryou sobbing in the back seat.

“I’ll kill him….” Bakura hissed. And he and Marik got onto their bikes and roared towards Otogi’s office.
