chapter 8

A/N: Sorry if the last chapter was a little angsty for some of you. This chapter also starts off that way, but it gets better towards the end and I promise to make Jono happy soon.

Thanks to all who reviewed.

By the way, feel free to ask any questions if you have them and/or make any suggestions, whether they are for this fic or another fic you would like to see.

My next fic is probably going to be a Ryou/Bakura fic as I have this plot bunny in my head about them that just won't leave me alone.

However, I am plannign on writing another AE fic about Seth's childhood. It will probably be really angsty though and I might include a Bakura/Seth thing in there as there is a really cute image if them that I found online.

Anyways, Enjoy!

Chapter 8

Jono just cried, and cried, and cried some more. He just couldn’t get over it, or understand it. His master was acting so cold to him. What had he done? If his master didn’t want him, then why didn’t the other let him run away? Was he just getting off on torturing him?

Jono’s chains made noise as he tried to move, and the blond became even more puzzled. Why did Seth chain him up? He admitted to himself that running away was a stupid idea, but he was just hurting so much. He had waited for Seth to come back, but the other never did. He saw his master in the gardens, all alone. Normally, Seth would have come running home to be with him, but not this time. Jono had come to the conclusion that this was somehow his fault and that his master no longer wanted him.

But Seth had come after him. When arriving home, Seth had treated him roughly, but didn’t beat him up. What was going on with his master? Why was the brunet acting this way?

Tears continued to stream down his tanned cheeks and Jono continued to cry. He cried until his tears refused to come out. When he had run out of tears, he just slumped down on the floor and closed his eyes.

Memories of the previous night rushed back into his mind. His master had been so gentle, so caring, so loving. What had he done wrong to change that? Could Seth get mad at him simply for being bad in bed?

Just then he heard footsteps coming towards him and looked up a little bit to see who it was. To his surprise, joy, and disappointment all at once it was Seth.

The brunet had come to see how the boy was doing. When he had stopped crying Seth had thought that he had fallen asleep.

Jono closed his eyes, turning his face towards the wall. New tears had started making their way down his cheeks.

Seeing his slave’s wretched form on the floor made Seth’s heart twist. The fact that the knew that he was the cause of this made it worse. He didn’t want to do this to the boy, but he just couldn’t help it. He couldn’t show his emotions any other way, so he pushed the boy away from him, hurting him in the process.

But by hurting the boy, he was also hurting himself, and this wasn’t better. Either way he looked at it, he was weak. He couldn’t help what his heart felt. He should just admit to the boy how he feels.

But that presented another problem: rejection. What if the boy did not return his feelings. Did his slave really love him? He had given himself to him the night before, but maybe he had just felt obliged to do so, being his slave.

Seth kneeled in front of the boys beautiful, crying form. His hands cupped the boy’s cheeks, forcing the blond to look at him. His thumbs brushed away the tears there and the hopeful expression on his slave’s face was all he could take.

Seeing the innocence and hope in his golden eyes just drove Seth over the edge. He leaned in quickly and kissed the boy. Jono immediately opened his lips to allow his master’s tongue in, letting the brunet explore his mouth all he wanted.

But soon, Seth pulled away and just stared at his slave. His icy mask crushed Jono’s hopes once more and tears started coming down his cheeks again.

“I… I… I’m… sorry.”

To Seth, it sounded like the boy was apologizing for running away. But in reality, Jono was apologizing for whatever it was that he did wrong.

“It’s okay.” The unemotional voice of his master made Jono even sadder.

Seth just stared at the blond in silence, watching a few more tears escape, before asking, “Why are you crying?”

“Because… there is nothing that hurts more than unrequited love.” Jono was staring at the floor.

Seth knew that his slave was a bad liar, and he knew that what he had just said was the honest, sincere truth. Yet, he still hesitated.

“I have to go and prepare for the upcoming festival to Set.” With this, Seth unchained Jono in a gentle manner, before getting up and leaving.

Jono, once more, found himself staring after his master, his heart silently crying.

Seth hadn’t talked to Jono at all after their little encounter where Jono professed his feelings for Seth. As a matter of fact, all Seth had done was prepare for that stupid festival. He didn’t even know why he was doing this? It’s not like Set cared. It was said that gods looked after their chosen ones, and Set had chosen Seth (at least that’s what he was told). Then why didn’t Set ever do anything good for him. He had respected his god, holding festivals in his honor, making sacrifices to him, building statues for him. Yet, Set had done nothing to even acknowledge his efforts.

Nonetheless, Seth went along with the festival as planned. Towards the end, he just went to secluded corner on the high pedestal and watched the mass of people celebrate and have fun. Everybody in Egypt celebrated this festival. It was a nice break from their daily work and no one wanted to anger the god of destruction.

Seth pondered more on his questions as to why Set had never acknowledged his efforts when it hit him. Set had given him a present, and like a fool he was rejecting it.

Forgetting the festival, Seth quickly said a thanking prayer to Set before rushing off towards his chambers.
