Chapter 8: In Town

A man walked through the town square, passing cart, after cart, after cart. Often at times, he would reach out his hand and pluck an item or two from the carts and expertly hide them in his cloak. He was a rugged looking man with a roughly shaven chin and upper lip, harsh black eyes, thin lips, and a crooked nose. His body posture wasn’t of high stature, either. He had toned muscles that could greatly intimidate any who stepped up to him that were but an inch or more shorter than himself.

“Pasis!”

The man swiftly turned and saw another running up to him. When his caller reached him, Pasis pulled him into a nearby nook where he hit him once on the top of the head.

“What do you think you’re doing, Unat?! You can’t go calling my name for the whole kingdom to here!” he reprimanded in a hushed voice.

“Sorry, boss.”

Pasis sighed. “Just what is it?”

“Othious told me to tell you that his brothers just arrived and are waiting for you at your home.”

“Excellent. Tell them I will return home tonight where we will converse. In the meantime, I will gather a few more brutes that will be interested in the prize.”

“Understood.”
At that, Unat peered his head from the crevice and ran off to deliver his message.

“WHAT?!!” Dalila screamed as the silver tray she was holding flew from her hands and crashed to the ground.

Yugi jumped at the noise as he tried to dodge the serving dish as well as the dishware on it.

“PREGNANT?!” Mia, in turn, yelled. “But…but how in all the gods’ names is this possible?”

“I don’t know. No one does,” Yugi shrugged. “But Seto said that according to a vision he had, it’s the beginning of some prophecy.”

“Prophecy?” asked Kira.

“You mean like a foretelling?” Sima asked.

“Mmm, I guess you could say that. It’s kinda like a legend of the future. This prophecy said that the child born of the same sexes would become a great leader.”

“Oh! A great leader!” cooed Dalila. “Congratulations!”

Yugi blushed. “Thanks. Hey listen, I was wondering…since I have pretty much no idea what it is I’ll be doing…do you think you could give me some pointers on what exactly it is I’m suppose to be doing?” he asked Mia. “I mean, seeing as you already had a child and all…”

“Of course! No problem! I would be much more than happy to help.”

“Great! Listen, I gotta go. But I’ll stop by sometime seal soon, okay? See ya!”

It was much later, after Ra tucked the final fold of his sheets under himself for sleep, Pasis walked into his home.

“It’s about time!” one scolded. He had a rough beard and brown eyes that went by the name Darth. “Do you know how long we’ve been waiting here?”

“Long enough,” another chimed in with a raspy voice: Sora.

“I understand this and I thank you for your patience. But we unfortunately must wait a bit longer. I am still awaiting some others that will be here shortly. I trust you brought the necessary requirements?”

The third, and final, brother of Othious, Crath, reached his rather large and scared hand behind himself and brought out a sack as he dumped its contents out onto the floor: a mace, much rope, some knives, some brass and silver knuckles and a couple hand-held sias.

“Brilliant. Ah, I do believe our guests have arrived.”

At that, three men opened the door and closed it behind them.

“Welcome, Garth,” greeted Pasis.

“Greetings,” he boomed back. Garth had shoulder length brown, greasy hair, had good sized muscles, and was very tall. His eyes were very abnormal: one green, one blue. He was the obvious leader of his small clan and would be very hard to control.

“Othious and brothers, this is Garth, Alph, and Jeb. They will be accompanying us on our operation,” Pasis introduced.

“Just how much experience do they have?” Othious asked.

“Enough,” said Jeb.

“Quite the confident one, there,” commented Crath. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you three before.”

“We aren’t from around here,” alleged Alph. “We come from Greece. We travel very often and never stay in one place for too long.”

“But,” added Garth, “I do believe I could grow accustomed to it here. The winters here are not as harsh as in Greece. I rather like the heat.”

“Well, now that we’re all acquainted,” interrupted Sora quite rudely, “May we start with the plans now? I am not in the mood to dilly-dally.”

“Yes, of coarse,” said Pasis. “Please, have a seat, all of you.”

They did as offered.

“Now, first thing’s first: how are we going to get into the palace?”

“My men and I will handle that,” said Garth. “We will go search the premises tomorrow. Give me a few days and I will have all the plans of the fortress complete.”

Pasis nodded. “Fantastic. Next is finding the rooms we need and getting there quickly.”

“I’ll take that,” offered Orthious. “My brothers and I have been trained by the best to be as quick and quite as humanly possible. If fact, we helped raid about seven tombs so far. We can do it.”

“Good. The only thing left that is of concern is getting the valuables and getting out without being seen. I suppose I’ll take care of that seeing as you all will be busy with the other factors.”

Garth nodded his head as he started to stand to leave.

“Oh, by the way,” Pasis started. Garth and his men turned around. “Just in case this helps anything that you have to do, the Pharaoh has a weak spot. A boy named Yugi.”

Garth’s eyes turned dark as Alph and Jeb exchanged a small glance at each other.

Carth caught on rather quickly. “You heard of him?”

“I used to know a Yugi, once. I doubt he’s the same one.”

“Why do you say that?” Sora asked.

Garth looked at him with an evil glint in his eyes. “Let’s just say…he went down stream.”
**

Yami was walking back to his and Yugi’s room as he had just finished a quick meeting with his court adviser about the taxes being raised which of course he declined.

‘Those pompous asses wanting nothing more than money. And to get it from ‘my’ people! UGH!’

Yami opened the door to his chambers, walked in, and slammed it behind himself.

“Hard day?”

He looked up to see Yugi on the bed putting down a book he had been reading. Yami smiled.
“Not anymore.”

Yugi chuckled as he moved over slightly to make room for his lover. Yami did as silently asked and sat up on the bed. Yugi curled up on Yami’s chest, sighing contently, as Yami wrapped his arms protectively around his light.

“So how did your little meeting go?”

Yami moaned. “Painfully uneventful.”

“Oh really?” Yugi looked lovingly up into the Pharaoh’s eyes as he looked back. “Why don’t I fix that?”

Yami smiled as he bent the rest of the way down and took Yugi’s lips in his own. It quickly deepened as Yugi willingly opened his mouth letting the other take to the entrance.

Once they parted, Yugi again snuggled into Yami. “I love you.”

Yami kissed Yugi’s brow as he laid his head down on Yugi’s.
“I love you too my, little one.”
