*Chapter 7: Advise*
Yami walked into the game shop quietly as Joey ran in the room.
“Yami, where the hell have you been? We’ve been worried sick!”
“I’m sorry I worried you,” Yami said solemnly.
“Yami, what’s wrong?” asked Ryou.
He sighed and turned his head to the side.
“I…went to see Yugi.”
“What? Why? What happened?” asked Mai.
“I saw Ramrik at the club drinking. He had a gun and a lot of money on him. I just wanted to make sure he was alright.”
Malik took a better look at the Pharaoh’s face.
“He…was okay, right?”
“Yes. He was…alright.”
Yami tried to fight back his tears.
“I’m really tired so I think I’ll just go to bed.”
He walked up the stairs and to Yugi’s room where he changed, laid on the bed and slept lightly.
**
Yugi was in bed, his face tear stained from the numerous amounts of tearsd frd from his ‘visitor’. The covers were pulled over his head with a hole his face could be seen through.
It was late. The room was dark. He was so confused.
He had said that he didn’t love Yami anymore…but was that true? Did he still love him aftll? ll? What about Ramrik? Did Yugi love him? Was what Yami said true?
Yugi heard the front door open and close as heavy footsteps stomped through the house. Something shattered downstairs and was swept up minutes later…or so Yugi could hear.
Then the foot steps made their way up the stairs, down the hallway…and stopped at Yugi’s door.
He pulled the covers closer to himself, his breathing becoming more strenuous.
Mumbling was heard as the steps continued down the hall.
gi lgi let out a silent sigh as his heart continued to race.
**
Yami was sitting at the breakfast table with a cup of black coffee in hand and eyes closed in thought.
‘I still am not entirely sure if Yugi believed me about what I said regarding Ramrik. I have to make him understand no matter what the cost. If he doesn’t want my love…I have to make damn sure that the person he does choose to love will treat him with the respect and loyalty and absolute love that he deserves…that I couldn’t give.’
“Hello, earth to Yami,” said Joey as he waved a hand in front of Yami’s face.
He opened his eyes.
“Hmm? I’m sorry, what?”
“You feeling alright? You don’t look too hot.”
‘You try getting crapped on by the number one person in your life and see how you look.’
“No, I’m fine. It’s just the whole thing with Yugi…it’s just really draining me.”
“Well then, pal…have we got some news for you!” Joey beamed.
Yami looked up with puzzlement.
“ ‘We’ ?”
**
Yugi was nervously walking down the street hand in hand with his ‘friend’, Ramrik, on their way to get some lunch. They had just been to the park, the local chess matches which were held each week, and the planetarium.
“So, Yugi. What are you in the mood for today?”
“Um, whatever’s fine, I guess.”
“Oh, come now. I can’t make all the choices, can I? Come on. You pick.”
“Okay. Umm…how about Fitzgerald’s Diner?”
“Sounds good to me,” Ramrik beamed.
Yugi smiled.
They walked in and took a seat in a small booth across from each other.
Ramrik opened his menu.
“Mmm, it all looks good. What are you going to have, Yugi?”
“I don’t know. Maybe the sausage, spinach and cheese cal zone.”
“Wow. That sounds great. I think I’ll have that, too.”
“Ramrik,” asked Yugi as he closed his menu, “have you ever…regretted something?”
Ramrik tiled his head to the side.
“Like what?”
“I don’t know. Anything. Like…told somebody something that you didn’t really mean…or you did something that made someone else hurt.”
“Yes. I think everyone has done that at one point or another. Why do you ask?”
“How did you get the feeling of guilt off your chest?”
Ramrik thought.
“Well, first, I had to realize that I had done something wrong. Then I tried to tell the person how sorry I was about what I said or did to them. Sometimes it worked, but others…let’s just say it didn’t end with a ‘happily-ever-after’.”
Yugi looked down at the table in sorrow.
“So what can I get you two?” asked the waitress.
“Two of your sausage, spinach and cheese cal zones, please,” said Ramrik with a smile.
“Okay. Anything to drink?”
“I’ll have tea. Yugi?”
“Huh?”
“A drink?” said Ramrik.
“Oh. Water will be fine thanks.”
“You got it.”
The waitress walked away.
“Yugi, are you feeling okay? You seem a little out of it. Is something bothering you?”
“No…not really. It’s just something that I kinda have to deal with on my own, thanks.”
“Well, if you ever need help with it, you know the drill. Ask me and I’ll help with anything.”
There was a pause.
“So…how’s your headache you woke with?” Yugi asked cautiously.
“Oh, it’s still there but it’s definitely better. I think I was just a little dehydrated. That’s all. Thanks for asking.”
“Yeah…sure,” Yugi answered as his thoughts continued.
‘Couldn’t it just be coincidence? Couldn’t he have just been a little tired when he came home last night, stumbled and broke something, stopped at my door because he was going to check on me? Couldn’t that be it? I want to believe it so much…but at the same time I don’t…because that would mean that Yami lied…right to my face. But…I don’t love him anymore so it’s not like it really matters…right? UGH! This is so damn frustrating!’
Yugi banged his hands on the table hard causing the silver where and glasses to clank.
He gasped and opened his eyes wide as he realized what he had done.
“Whoa! Yugi, what was that for?” asked Ramrik.
Yugi just stared.
“Umm…I…I’m sorry. I need to go. I’ll see you at home.”
Yugi picked up his jacket and raced out the door.
“Sir, is your friend alright?” asked the waitress.
“I don’t know. Here. Keep the change.”
Ramrik blindly searched through his pockets, pulled out what he thought was a ten or twenty, and placed it on the table. The he bolted out the door as well.
The waitress picked up the money and saw in the corner: 100.
“Wow! Y’all don’t be strangers ‘round here!” she yelled after them.
**
Yugi walked down the sidewalk, his fists jammed into his pockets.
‘Why did I do that? Damn. If only this wasn’t so confusing.’
Yugi sighed.
He walked aimlessly until, for some reason, the buildings started becoming familiar.
But he paid no-never-mind to it.
Then he stopped. He looked up to see the KaibaCorp tower. It gave him an idea.
He turned and headed down another street for several blocks until he came upon a mansion.
Yugi reached up and rang the doorbell which he could faintly hear through the pinewood doors.
Several seconds passed until someone in a suit answered.
“Yes? May I help you, sir?”
“I think so. Is Seto Kaiba in?”
“Do you have an appointment?”
“Umm, no. But…”
“I’m sorry. Master Kaiba sees no one unless they have an appointment.”
The man started to close the door when Yugi interrupted the movement.
“Wait! Just tell him that Yugi Moto is here to see him.”
The man hesitated.
“Please wait here.”
Yugi obliged as the door was closed.
The man walked up several steps until he reached Kaiba’s secret room and knocked.
“Yes?” said the CEO.
The man entered and bowed.
“Sorry to disturb you Master Kaiba…”
“Just what is it?” Kaiba asked while typing a hundred miles a minute on his laptop.
“There’s a Yugi Moto here to see you.”
The typing ceased and he looked up.
“Yugi?”
“Yes, Sir.”
Kaiba saved his document, closed his workstation and walked out the door.
“Thank you. That will be all.”
“Yes, Master Kaiba.”
Seto made his way down the stairs and to the front door.
He turned the knob and opened the entrance.
**
Yugi stood outside the large doors waiting to be either called in or sent away.
He started paying good attention to the designs carefully carved into the wood.
The door opened and Yugi saw Kaiba at the door.
“Seto!”
He grabbed his friend in a hug and almost started to cry.
“Well, uhh…it’s good to se you too…I guess. But what are you doing here?”
Yugi backed up a bit to stare into Kaiba’s eyes.
“Seto…canalk alk to you for a bit? I can’t really think of anyone else to turn to.”
“Sure. Come on in.”
Seto stepped aside as Yugi entered and the door closed.
Behind the gate at the base of the driveway, Ramrik was well hidden but was able to see the door.
“So, he doesn’t thinkcan can turn to me, huh? And what was with the hug?! Is this guy trying to steal MY Yugi from me?! Well I don’t care who he is, he won’t get away with it.”
He turned and huffed away.
**
Yugi sat on a couch with a cup of tea as Seto sat opposite a table with a cup, as well.
“So, Yugi. What is it you wanted to talk about?” asked Seto even though he was pretty sure what it was already.
“Well, actually…I’m not all that sure, to tell the truth.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m a little confused. I…I think I might…still love Yami.”
“Really? What’s so confusing about that?”
“I think I love Ramrik, too.”
“Oh. That’s definitely a complication.”
“Yeah.”
Yugi sighed.
“I just don’t know what to do.”
“Well, how do you feel about the two of them?”
Yugi hesitated.
“Ramrik is sweet and kind and took me in when I needed help desperately and he listens to me when I have problems and tries to help me all the time.
Yami is all those things…but he is also strong and protective of me and cares for me and was always there for me when I needed him.”
“To me, it doesn’t sound like you need my counsel on which you love the most,” said Seto raising an eyebrow.
“But…I don’t want to hurt Ramrik’s feelings like mine were.
And Yami hurt me terribly. I don’t know if I can get back together with him with that memory embedded in the back of my head.”
“Well, my only advice to you is: Think of which you love the most…which you think you would be most happy with…which can offer you the most love possible.”
Yugi thought on the subject.
Which could give him more love?
Which could he be most happy with?
Which does he love the most?
Only one name came to his mind.
The one he thought was the most simple and most rational…
**
Yami sat pondering the idea his friends had come up with.
‘This is insane. This is absolutely illogical, foolish and inhumane. It was discourteous and fowl……but it just might work.’
Yami sighed.
“Alright. I’ll do it.”
“Yes! I knew you would!” Joey yelled.
“So when will we do it?” asked Ryou.
“Well, let’s not set anything too big right now,” suggested Marik. “We should take this step by step. We’ll make fewer mistakes that way.”
