Not mine, *sobs* Yu-Gi-Oh! Belongs to their repective owners. And I'm making no money.
A New Beginning
Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh! and all the characters herein belong to whomever and I am making no monies whatsoever. The plotline belongs to me and me alone, and all the original characters (meaning those you have never seen before) belong to me.
Author’s Note: This is purely fiction. I hated the way they ended the series and if the series had been mine it would have been chocked full of slashy goodness. But alas, it is not. Anyway, this takes place after Atemu has traveled to the Afterlife. I have also used the Yin-Yang symbol and its meanings for the sake of story with some tweaks. Oh, the other thing, the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses make cameo appearances.
Beta’d by the most wonderful friend I have ever had in my life. God knows where I would be without her input, late night giggle sessions, and vanilla coffee! Thank you, my Darkwatch.
Normally the Yin is the light side and the Yang the dark; I have switched them for sake of the story. The different meanings of the Yin and Yang apply to each of the characters, but I had to switch them.
Yin- (the Dark Side of the symbol) Yami
Yang- (the Light Side of the symbol) Yugi

Speech – bold speech is the speech of a spirit.
Summary – The Nameless Pharaoh, Atemu has passed into the Afterlife where he belongs, but what he has left behind is something no one could have seen coming. Yugi, alone and missing a piece of himself has returned to Domino City a mere shell of who he was...will his friends be able to pull him out or will he reach the shatterpoint?

Chapter Six – A New Beginning
Mokuba returned to Kaiba Corp and found his brother sitting at his desk typing at a laptop furiously as he sighed softly, “Big Brother?” he queried softly as he approached.
“What is it, Mokuba, I’m busy.”
“You’re always busy, but I had a question for you.”
Seto glanced over from his laptop and gazed warmly at his little brother, “I always have time for you, Mokuba, what’s the question.”
Mokuba grinned as he moved to his brother and hugged him around the waist, “do you love me?”
Seto quirked an eyebrow at the query. “Yes…” he knew this was leading up to something but what was beyond him.
“How much do you love me, big brother?”
“Whatever it is, Mokuba, how much is it going to cost me.” Seto asked as he wrapped his arms around his brother with a smile.
“Its about Yuugi and Atemu.” Mokuba replied with a grin.
Seto rolled his blue eyes and spoke, “What about them, Mokuba. They are together and apparently happy.”
Mokuba whined, “Big Brother!”
Seto groaned, “Alright, what did you want me to do?”

Yuugi and Atemu returned to the real world from their time together inside the puzzle, both looking very tired and disheveled but they both looked very well loved. The duo climbed into the small bed in Yuugi’s room, Atemu wrapped his arms around his partner and snuggled up behind him. “I love you, Yuugi.”
“I love you too, Mou hitori no boku.”
Atemu was about to speak again but with a glance down at his aibou found Yuugi already sound asleep in his arms. Reaching down, Atemu tugged a sheet upwards to cover them both, Atemu drifted off to a restful slumber.
Solomon peeked in the room and smiled at the duo. Atemu had his arm folded and under Yuugi’s head, his other arm secure around the younger duelist. Yuugi was curled against Atemu, his head nestled in the crook of Atemu’s neck, his arm thrown over the ex-pharaoh’s waist. They look very peaceful together, I suppose the phone call can wait. Solomon padded back to the living room where he picked up the phone. “Sorry, they are asleep. Breakfast will be fine, Mokuba, I won’t tell them, see you then.” He said, before he hung up the phone and headed to his own bed.
~*~*~*~
The next morning, Atemu woke first, as he gazed down at the beauty in his arms. Sometime during the night, Yuugi had tucked one hand under his cheek and looked so innocent and peaceful that Atemu was loathing waking him. Yuugi let out a soft moan and snuggled closer to the warmth that was Atemu, blinking sleepily as he opened his eyes. “Good morning.”
“Huh?” Yuugi inquired as he blinked and rubbed his eyes sleepily, “good morning, Atemu.” Atemu’s stomach growled and Yuugi giggled, “I think you need to eat.”
“Is that what this sensation is? And why my stomach is suddenly churning?”
“Mmhmm, let’s go get some breakfast.” Yuugi said as he climbed reluctantly out of the bed and padded to his closet, rummaging for something to wear as he passed some things to Atemu as well, “Um, they may not fit well, but until we can go shop for you, this will have to do.”
Dressing swiftly the duo headed into the kitchen where Solomon had already made pancakes and there was someone neither of them expected at the table. “Wondered when the two of you would roll out of bed, the day is half gone.”
“What are you doing here, Kaiba?” Yuugi inquired as he glanced over at his grandfather wondering what was going on.
“I brought something for my . . .” his voice trailed off, then smiled, “cousin.” He finished, as he tossed an envelope over at Atemu who caught it.
“Cousin?” Yuugi asked, glancing back and forth between the two of them.
Atemu cleared his throat, “yes, apparently our ancient selves were related. Our fathers were brothers, making him my cousin, though in this world…I am unsure as to what he means.”
“Apparently, your mind is tinier than I thought. You’ll find everything you need in the packet, see you Monday. And don’t be late.” Seto said as he rose from the dining table and headed out of the Game Shop. Mokuba, I have made amends, and I hope it was worth it.
Atemu sat down at the table and absentmindedly looked at the packet, noticing that there were all kinds of papers inside. Solomon set down a plate of pancakes and Atemu ate as he read through the various things inside the envelope. Inside were transcripts, a birth certificate, driver’s license, social security card the whole nine yards for an identity. The main packet that Atemu had to flip through was a contract to Kaiba Corp., it read that he was going to be beta-testing new games for him that came with a salary and a brand new apartment. “this is very generous of him.”
Yuugi walked over and perched on Atemu’s hip, “wow, that is generous of him.” He said, as he peeked at all the things on the table, “Look, you have a last name now.” Yuugi continued as he gazed down at the birth certificate. “Hey! You’re older than me.”
“Well, it is true, aibou.” Atemu replied as he smiled at the sweet pout that appeared on Yuugi’s lips. “I am older than you are.”
Yuugi smiled a bit, “well at least you got an interesting last name,” he whispered, testing it out, “here, lets see how it sounds, “Atemu Charnom. It has an air of mystery, I like it.”
“As do I. Now, let’s finish breakfast.”
Yuugi smiled as he stole the bite off Atemu’s fork, and grinned at his lover. “Now that fate has returned us to each other, what’s next?”
“Life. Aibou. A life we create together.” Atemu replied as he leaned down and kissed Yuugi tenderly, “forever, we shall be together. In this life or the next.”
“Forever sounds good to me.” Yuugi smiled in response. “Oh, we need to go see the gang! I’m sure they want to know you’re back!” he said, scrambling for the phone as he made a call.

Jounouchi and Anzu met with Honda, and Otogi outside the local arcade. “What’s up, man? Its too early to be getting together.” Honda grumpily spoke, sipping a cup of coffee.
Otogi rolled his eyes, “When you called, you said it involved Yuugi. He any better, or is he still in that semi-comatose state?” he inquired, as he absentmindedly played with the die hanging from his ear.
Anzu smiled, “he’s a lot better now, and we’re here because he wanted to share his happiness with all of us.”
It was then that Yuugi was running towards them, a huge smile on his face as he leapt out and wrapped his arms around Jounouchi and Anzu at the same time, “hi guys!” he said cheerfully. “c’mon group hug!” he continued, yanking on Otogi and Honda, pulling them in as well. As the group hugged, Yuugi smiled and wiggled out as Atemu took his place with a smile.
When the group broke up, it was Honda who noticed the changes first, “Huh? Yuugi? How’d you do that? You’re taller and tanner.”
Otogi blinked as he took a step backwards, “Yuugi?”
“Hi guys, I’m over here!” he replied waving a hand, as the two boys let out a scream and grabbed each other.
“Aibou, was this really necessary?”
“Yup.” Yuugi said with a grin as he made his way over to Atemu; where the older duelist wrapped his arms around his other half. “It was fun.”
Atemu grinned, “that it was.” He finished as he leaned down and kissed Yuugi’s cheek.
“Wait, you two are together?” Otogi queried softly as he looked at the two of them.
Honda simply nodded, “Yeah, I mean it was always leaning that way, big Yuugi . . . I mean Atemu was always protective of little Yuugi.”
“Yeah, that’s true, guess it was inevitable that they’d hook up.” Otogi replied.
“So you guys are okay with this?”
Jounouchi and Anzu already had known since last night and both knew that they were okay with it, because it made Yuugi happy. Honda grinned, “I’m good with it, you were miserable without him, Yuugi. And now that he’s back, I’m happy as long as you are.”
Otogi smiled, “I’m good, let’s go play some games, huh?” he said as the group headed into the arcade, Yuugi and Atemu holding hands.

Ba-pef’s smile was brilliant as she watched the portal where the events were taking place, as she glanced to the tablet where Yuugi and Atemu were curled around each other. “In this life or the next, you will always find each other again, I promise you this.”
