Shamise: ^-^ you’re welcome~ And I’m sorry this next update took so long to get up!
KCRose18: Don’t worry~ ^-^ I just love to torture little Ryou. Well, I love to torture all three of the hikari’s~
Tellnoone_Noonetells: hehehe ^-^ I’m just a weird person. (not to mention your name is extremely easy to remember! Yet another plus! You know…I’m probably never going to stop talking about your name O_o yep, I’m weird. Hehehe. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an angst whore! Angst makes the fanfic world go-round~ And yeah, I probably should have kept writing until he was out of the tower. But I was being lazy that night. I’ll try not to be lazy for this chapter since it’s taken me a little longer to pick up writing again after killing myself at work.
And yes, not having a story planned out CAN be a good thing…but when I have a story planned out it ends to get done faster. And it’s easier for me to over come writers block >_< Anyway! Time to get writing again!

UN-BETA READ VERSION!!
Bakura growled as he rolled over on his bed. He didn’t know how long he’d been laying there, but he was sure he hadn’t gotten any sleep at all. Mainly because every time he closed his eyes that stupid kid kept coming to his mind. Letting out a cry of frustration Bakura threw the pillow across the room as he leapt out of bed. He paced back and forth in his room before finally giving up and storming out of his room he headed up to the tower taking the steps two at a time. He was going to find out what was going on, convinced that it was Ryou’s fault that he couldn’t get the boy off his mind.
As he reached the top few steps however his feet splashed in some water that was coming from under the door. Bakura blinked at this frowning slightly and opened the door. The cold wet air in the tower sent chills down Bakura’s spine. Shaking off a shiver Bakura slowly scanned the room before spotting the silver haired boy curled up in a corner wrapped up in some old clothes that were wet from the rain, and looked like they would fall apart any second. Bakura didn’t say anything and just stared at the boy. The only word that came to his mind when he saw Ryou there was ‘pathetic’. He didn’t seem to have any fighting spirit in him at all. He was pale, and fragile looking. /almost like a doll/ Bakura thought but shook his head quickly glaring more at the boy as if it were his fault.
Bakura turned his attention to the roof where rain was pouring through. His first instinct was to slam the door shut and leave the kid in there to die. But Bakura felt that weird pain in his chest at the thought of coming in and finding the lifeless body of Ryou, still curled up in the corner attempting to stay warm with old cloth. Grumbling to himself Bakura stomped across the room and looked down at Ryou.
“Get up.” He said. He would take the boy out of here. But he would NOT carry him. Ryou blinked at Bakura’s boots when they stopped in front of him. It was obvious that he had not noticed Bakura even come into the room. “I said get up!” Bakura snapped. Ryou looked up at him and blinked again. A look of irritation crossed Bakura’s face before he bent down and grabbed Ryou’s arm forcing him too stand. Ryou stumbled landing against Bakura. Bakura didn’t like this at all because now he could actually feel how badly the smaller boy was shaking from the cold. Looking down at his outfit frowned even more. No wonder the boy was freezing.
“Follow me.” Bakura turned and didn’t look to see if Ryou was following him as he left the tower. Ryou looked confused beyond belief, but didn’t pass up the chance to actually get out of the tower. He followed Bakura down the stairs in silence, all his concentration going to trying to stay standing. Ryou reached the bottom and walked right into Bakura. He felt a strong arm wrap around him to keep him from falling.
“Oi, what’s wrong with you?” Bakura growled obviously annoyed.
“..sorry…” he tried to pull away from Bakura to stand on his own only to have his legs give out. Bakura cursed and caught the silver haired teen, ready too snap at him again. But when he looked down at him he saw his flushed face and he was sweating a lot. Ryou stared back at him, his eyes slightly glazed. Bakura grumbled something under his breath and before Ryou could get his legs to move again Bakura had already picked him up and was now carrying him the rest of the way to…wherever he was being taken.
Ryou felt himself being laid down on a soft bed and the blankets pulled over him. “Rest here, I’ll be back with some food later.” Bakura said and left the room. Ryou thought he heard the sound of a lock but ignored it for the fact that he was in a warm dry bed. Closing his eyes he let himself fall into a feverish sleep.
--------
Marik sat on the side of the bed as he slowly cleaned the wounds he had given Malik. The blond boy was a lot stronger then Marik had first given him credit for. Knowing full well that this treatment could hurt just as much as getting the actual cuts, Malik wasn’t making any noise and only flinched a couple times.
“Looks like your storm at sea has arrived on the island.” Marik said trying to make conversation.
“Hn, lot of good it does me and my friends now…” Malik said softly looking away from Marik. Marik knew that Malik didn’t care for him much, especially after what he’d done to him.
“You said you and your…friends were at a party when you were on the ship?” Marik asked ignoring the pain in his chest again as he watched the younger boy.
“Yes. It was actually pretty boring. That’s why we decided to go back to our room, Yugi was the first to get washed over. I was caught off guard. I was hoping Ryou would at least make it back to the room…”
“So he could tell the captain.” Marik finished.
“Yes, we would have had more of a chance of getting back on the ship and not being stuck here…”
“This island isn’t that bad of a place to live really.” Marik said. Malik turned his head to look at Marik now.
“Oh I believe it. I mean I’ve had such a wonderful time here already who WOULDN’T want to live here?” He said the sarcasm so thick you could cut it with a knife. Marik narrowed his eyes, Malik kept his gaze firmly locked with Marik’s he could see that the king was restraining himself from hitting him. The fact that Malik was matching his glare was pissing Marik off even not.
“You should be a little bit grateful.” Marik spat.
“Grateful for WHAT?”
“That I didn’t leave you to die up in the tower.” Marik growled.
“I almost wish you had!” Malik looked away indicating that the conversation was over. But Marik wasn’t about to let him have the last word. Reaching forward quickly he grabbed Marik’s hair and pulled him back, but before anything else could happen there was a loud banging on the door seconds before Bakura came in. Marik looked over watching the other king walk into the room as if he owned the place. Malik tried to turn and see who had come in doing his best not to whimper at the pain in his skull.
“Are you busy?” Bakura asked glancing from Marik to Malik. Marik looked down at the boy before slowly letting go. Malik slumped down face first on the bed turning to glare at Marik again who was no longer looking at him.
“No, not really.” Marik said moving away from the bed. “Is something wrong? You don’t look to good.” Marik asked as he got a better look at Bakura. If he didn’t know any better he’d say that the other king looked almost…panicked.
“I’m fine, but I need your help with something.” This caught Marik off guard, Bakura was asking for some help? That was almost unheard of. Marik looked thoughtful for a moment as he stared at Bakura.
“Hmm…let me guess, you killed your prisoner and now you need help dumping the body before Yami finds out and takes your head off?” Marik asked taking a shot in the dark.
“No, the boy is still alive. But I’m not sure for how much longer.” Bakura said trying his best not to sound worried. And to anyone who didn’t know him it would have sounded just like that, but with how much time Marik had spent with Bakura over who knows how many hundreds of years, it was quite easy for him to pick up the worried tone in Bakura’s voice. Though it didn’t help the fact that Malik had heard this short exchange and didn’t know Bakura as well as Marik or Yami did.
The next thing Bakura knew he was laying on his back a blond boy sitting on his chest his fist pulled back ready to punch, the pain in Bakura’s jaw told him that he’d been punched once already. Bakura narrowed his eyes and moved quickly kicking his foot against Malik’s stomach sending the smaller boy flying back. Had the wind not just been knocked out of him Malik would have screamed when he landed hard on his back.
“Ra Damnit.” Marik growled and was by Malik’s side quickly lifting him off the floor. Malik’s hand fisted in Marik’s shirt as he sat there gasping for breath small whimpers escaping every now and then.
“You couldn’t have pushed him off you more gently Bakura?” Marik asked glaring at the silver haired man that was sitting up wiping blood from the corner of his mouth.
“He punched me, and was about to do it again, What would you have had me do?” Bakura asked getting back to his feet watching the two blond boys. Malik lifted his head glaring daggers at Bakura.
“Ryou.”
“who?” Bakura blinked.
“Where is…Ryou?” Malik asked still breathing uneasy, though now it was more due to the pain in his back then lack of breath.
“He’s sleeping.” Bakura said, looking at Marik he added. “Come talk to me in my room. I don’t feel like being punched again.” With that he turned and left the room. Marik watched the door close before turning his attention back to Malik.
“Now.” He said. “Why did you hit Bakura?”
“He going to kill Ryou!” Malik said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Marik raised an eyebrow.
“Now when exactly did he say he was going to kill your friend?”
“You said he was dead, and that….person, said that he wasn’t dead yet.”
“Yes, but Bakura never actually said. ‘I’m going to kill him’. Now did he?” Marik shot back. Malik pulled away from him and stood up hissing through clenched teeth as he felt the skin on his back ripping some. Marik stood up taking his arm.
“Why don’t you lay back down? You’ve put your back thru enough abuse for one day. I’ll go talk to Bakura, and I’ll make sure you’re friend is alright.” Marik said helping Malik back onto the bed.
“…please…” Malik said his words slightly muffled by the pillows, but Marik was still able to hear him. “…please don’t hurt Ryou…or Yugi.” Marik looked at him sighing softly he put his hand on top of Malik’s head.
“They are not my prisoners. They belong to the other two, but I promise I will do what I can, and let you know how they are. And if I speak with Yami, you can probably see your other friend, Yugi was it? I’ll talk to Yami and see if I can bring your little friend back here.” Marik said backing away from the bed before leaving the room. Malik listened to the door open and close and then the soft click of the lock. He may be lying on a comfy bed, he may have had his back wrapped up and was being taken care of, but no matter how much better this room was from the tower, it was still a prison. And Malik did not do well with being locked up, though he would not tell Marik that.
--------
Yami sat on the window sill watching the rain poor down outside. He looked over at the bed for what must have been the tenth time in the past five minutes. The small boy was still fast asleep on the over sized bed, making him look even younger then he already did. Yami had not had much of a chance to speak with the boy, seeing as how he had not gotten much sleep in the tower, nor when he was out in the ocean it was no wonder he’d fallen asleep as soon as Yami let him climb on the bed. A lot had happened in such a short period of time, though the young boy seemed to be handling it all quite well.
Yami looked towards the door; even though he was in his own section of the castle he could still hear faint noises of Marik and Bakura fighting. Though he could not bring himself to be interested in their petty fights any more. Right now he was more concerned as to what he was going to do with the boy he now had in his custody. And he wondered what Marik and Bakura were going to do with the other two. The three of them were obviously good friends, and even though Yami wasn’t an expert on those kinds of things he was sure it was going to be hard to keep them apart.
Yami looked back out the window as he continued to let his thoughts drift to wherever they wanted. But no matter what he started thinking about his thoughts always wound up coming right back to Yugi. Yami put his head in his hands groaning.
“What in Ra’s name is wrong with me?” Yami asked himself out loud. Though he knew he was not the only one in the room, Yami was not expecting anyone to say anything about the question he’d asked himself.
“…are you okay?” The soft voice asked as a hand was gently placed on Yami’s arm. The king reacted on instanced his hand shooting out grabbing Yugi by the neck lifting him off the floor slightly. His eyes flashing red. Yugi’s eyes widened and when Yami saw the fear reflecting in them he realized what he was doing. He let Yugi go quickly, once again without thinking. The boy dropped to the floor coughing as he rubbed his neck.
“damn it all…” Yami mumbled to himself and slid off the window sill and to the floor. Kneeling down in front of Yugi he looked at him. “Are you alright?” He asked. Yugi looked at him and Yami could still see that slight fear in them.
“I’m sorry.” He motioned to Yugi’s neck. “I’m not exactly used to having people around, let alone people who would touch me.” He explained. Yugi looked at him before lowering his head seeming to realize his mistake.
“Gomen…i…it won’t happen again…” He said. Yami put a finger under Yugi’s chin making him look up at him again.
“I didn’t say I hated it. I just said I’m not used to it.” Yami said giving Yugi a small smile. “You just caught me by surprise is all.” Standing up he pulled Yugi to his feet. “Now then, did you sleep well?” Yugi gave Yami a puzzled look not sure how to answer that question after almost being choked by the king. He couldn’t seem to make out Yami at all; first impression had been of a cruel king that cared for no one or nothing. And then he’d come up to the tower and brought Yugi out of there and down to a comfy bed with lots and lots of pillows, almost chocked him and now was asking if he’d slept well.
“…Yes…I slept very well thank you…”
“I imagined you would have, after all that’s happened. I brought some fruit up for you, you can help yourself.” Yami said waving a hand towards the table. Yugi looked over and saw there were some apples, bananas, oranges, and other fruits that Yugi was sure he’d never seen before in his life. Yugi hurried over to the table and grabbed a banana and one of the strange looking fruits, he stood there eating. Yami watched him with a small smile on his face rubbing his chest absently.
“I think I owe you an apology and your friends too.” Yami said as Yugi ate. Yugi paused and looked over at him. “I judged to quickly your intentions for being here, though I hope you can understand the decision I made.” Yugi swallowed what was in his mouth shaking his head.
“No…I don’t really understand at all…even after we explained we weren’t here on purpose…you wouldn’t even listen to us.” Yugi said and Yami could sense that he was still frightened.
“I can not explain things to you. So I hope you will accept my apology and be my guest in this castle. Though I am afraid I still can not allow you to leave.” Yami said killing the shimmer of hope that was shining in Yugi’s eyes.
“…so…I’m still a prisoner.”
“In a manner of speaking, yes. But not by my choice, you see, there is no way off this island. At least none that I know of.” Yami explained.
“…there’s not? No boats? Nothing?” Yami shook his head.
“No, to be honest, I can’t even remember the last time I was able to leave this castle.” Yami closed his eyes leaning against the wall. Yugi felt as if there were more that Yami wasn’t telling him. But Yugi wasn’t about to question him and risk being thrown back in the tower. But there was one question he wanted to ask.
“…can I see my friends?” Yami opened one eye looking at Yugi. The king felt that pinch in his chest again when he saw the hopeful look Yugi was giving him. The boy had a childlike innocence around him that Yami had not seen in a long time.
“I don’t see why not.” Yami said after a long moment of silence. He was taken aback by the bright smile that Yugi gave him. Yami managed a small smile in return before looking away. Though he did not dare hope, not after so long, but he couldn’t help it as he looked up at the sky and saw a single beam of light breaking through the storm clouds.
