Chapter 6
Marik and Ryou screamed as the two vampires landed in front of them, barring their path. The two turned to run away, but the vampires grabbed them. Bakura looked at Marik, crimson eyes boring into brown. Marik shivered.
“My, my, you seem to frighten easily,” the vampire said, stroking his hand through the soft sand-colored hair. Marik flinched. “Now, I’m not going to harm you. My friend Mailk and I just want to get to know you better. There’s a rumor that Yami found a human and fell in love with him. The rumor also says that his heart beats again thanks to that love, just as the old saying of our people says. Malik and I think you two are cute, so you’re ours now.”
Marik and Ryou looked completely stunned. Malik laughed. “I think you shocked them into silence, Bakura. Let’s get them somewhere safe so that any rogues who were never kind in the first place don’t get them. Maybe we should head to their base. Yami made it inside, why can’t we?”
“Y-Yami was invited,” Ryou stammed. Malik turned his crimson eyes to the pale blue ones of his captie.
“Will you invite us?” he asked gently.
“I- I don’t thave the authority to do so. O-Only Jou can invite vampires into our base,” Ryou replied. Bakura sighed.
“Guess we’ll fly them there and wait outside. Not the best prospect, but it’ll have to do,” the white-haired vampire suggested. Malik nodded, and the two vampires flew off, holding their human lovers in their arms.

Jou reached his base quickly with the help of Seto’s ability to fly. He allowed the half-vampire to go in first, sense two human auras and two vampire auras heading his way. He pulled a crossbow out of a hid place near the entrance and prepared it to fire before seeing two vampires looking remarkably like Marik and Ryou flying over with their human counterparts. Jou found it funny for some reason, seeing the Ryou-vampire holding Marik and the Marik-vampire holding Ryou.
The two vampires landed and let their captors go as a show of good faith. Ryou and Marik fled to hide behind Jou, peeking out from behind their leader’s back to see what would happen. Bakura stepped forward cautiously, bowing politely. Jou raised an eyebrow.
“We know you have Yami here, we can smell his scent. Seto is here as well it would appear. We wish to join you as well. As you can see, Malik and I, Bakura, have taken a liking to our friend’s lookalike, and we wish to see for ourselves if the saying is why Yami’s heart beats again. We wish to be rid of our bloodlust as well, we never wished to become vampires,” Bakura told Jou, causing him to be surprised.
“You guys regret what you’ve done as vampires?” Jou asked. The two nodded.
“But don’t get the wrong idea. The vampires you hunt every night are what we call ‘rogues’. Their the criminals of our kind, and they create vampires like us. They would be what you would call ‘pure-blood’, and they’re very evil,” Malik reassured Jou, earning a sigh of relief. The vampires were surprised at the worry Bakura had given Jou for a short time.
“Well, I can tell from ya auras that yer not lyin’, so go ahead and join us. Maybe we can save all you who don’ wish to be bloodthirsty demons and you all can help kill dese rogues,” Jou said. The two vampires smiled. They had just been upgraded to vampire vampire hunters.
