Viola Chapter six which has been so creatively titled...The Six. Aren't I just lame? Well tell ya the truth I struggled with this chapter. It was...not nice to me. But the story continues no matter what.

Thankies to those who reviewed.

Chapter Six..The Six

The gang had moved into Yugi’s living room. Everyone was seated wherever possible. Yugi sat beside Ishizu however so that he could hear everything. Malik and Odion did not join in their group huddle; they sat nearer to the door. Joey was next to him and Tristan followed. Tea and Mai sat on the couch across from them. Seto stood up leaning against a far wall. Ishizu looked down at Yugi and smiled. “He is alive, Yugi, that is what matters the most.”

“Technically he is a spirit sister.” Malik corrected.

“Yes well he will be alive once you complete the ritual.” She said glaring at her brother. “Are you positive that you want to do this Yugi. It will be very dangerous.” He went quiet upon her words.

“I think you can do it Yugi. Whatever you decide I’ll be there to support you.” Tristan encouraged.

“Same here Yug.” Joey said a smile brandishing his face.

Yugi smiled and nodded his head. “I’ve got friends to help me, so I think I’m pretty good.”

Ishizu smiled brightly. The little hikari had a lot of strength. “The ritual is called Memoria. It is a Latin term used in regards to memory, I guess that’s obvious. Other meanings include a record of the past, tradition, or history. The whole point was to bring back someone with their memories and past selves intact. In order to do this the ritual required six specific items. It’s unknown who actually tried to complete this ritual first or where it originated from but after some heavy research, Odion, Malik and I found out what you need.” She took a deep breath. “The first item is the Silver Mirror. This item was used to represent the sight of the individual. The things that it reflects would be what they see. The second item is the Golden pendant. It represents that soul to which the one brought back would appear wearing it around their neck.”

“The third item is a pair of Chandelier Earrings made with a very rare kind of ruby. This is for hearing. The fourth item is the Aroma of the Desert. It’s made from a very rare flower in the Sahara that blooms every hundred years. This item represents smell. The fifth is the Heavenly Armor worn by a famous warrior and represents touch. The last is the Teardrop Diamond. There were only seven of these ever found. Three of them were lost but there are four still existing in the world today. This last item is very important as it is the memory.” Ishizu let the information sink in.

“Please tell me you know most of their locations.” Tea said not sure she would like the answer.

“I know of the last three. The Aroma of the Desert is in Egypt, you have to travel far though. The Heavenly Armor is in Britain, and a Teardrop Diamond was found by Seto in a place called the Cavern of Memories. Do not worry about those three right now.” Ishizu said looking directly into Yugi’s eyes. “I am more concerned about the first three. You will have to travel back in time in order to get them.”

Yugi gaped at her. “How are we supposed to do this?”

She held out her hand. In it rested a small hourglass. “I have used Shadow Magic to change this into a time traveler. I have it so that you will be able to get the items. It was very difficult to accomplish but I am most positive that it will work.” Ishizu placed it in his hand and smiled. “When you have the item you must flip the hourglass and when the sands run out it will transport you to the next destination. Like everyone always says you must not tamper with history. I’m afraid you’re taking of the items will alter whatever you encounter you will probably inflict change, there’s no way around it. The points in history that you will be in are those in which the three items were last recorded.” Yugi nodded. “You can only take so many people with you, make sure you choose wisely.”

“I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this one.” Tristan admitted.

“I don’t understand period.” Tea added, Tristan gave her a dull look. “What?”

“Make sure you choose very wisely Yugi. You don’t want to bring along someone who’s going to let you down.” Kaiba said a slight tone of amusement underlying his words.

“Is there somewhere we can talk in private Yugi?” Ishizu asked.

“Yeah, follow me.” He said needing to get out of the room before things got worse. Everyone was itching for a fight, he didn’t know why but, things were just really tense. Leading Ishizu to the kitchen he asked her if she wanted anything but she declined the offer. She took and seat and looked over him slowly. “Is there something wrong?”

“Are you sure you want to go after this Yugi? Are you sure you want to bring him back?”

Yugi sat silently before her. He gazed down at the hourglass in his hand. “I’ve been thinking,” he said a bitter smile darkening his features. “I’ve been thinking a lot about what happened…I think I was being a little selfish at first.” Tears brimmed his innocent big amethyst eyes. “I’ve always felt comforted by his presence you know? I always felt like I had a friend right there, one that would never leave. Fairytales…”

“Your friendship with Yami was not a fairytale Yugi. Everyone could tell that he cared for you deeply-.”

“I don’t need to be lied to. I really want him back Isis-but I’m scared that he’s not going to want to stay with me, that he’s going to leave for someone else…like before.” Yugi cried softly. “But I didn’t ever tell him how I felt so I’m kind of at fault too.”

“Yugi, no one anticipated that his departure would have been a problem. And you don’t need to go blaming yourself over anything either, the point is that you loved Yami, not Atem. You have to save the person he became with you and your friends.” Yugi looked up surprised. Isis’ gaze was hard yet truthful. “He gained a new life with you Yugi.”

“Well then why didn’t he want to stay?” He pleaded with her. He knew there was no point in asking her but he had to know, he needed something.

“Perhaps it was Atem who wanted to move on. Yami carried his soul, they were one being until they entered that gate.” She put forth thoughtfully. She didn’t know how to answer Yugi. Ishizu couldn’t even come up with an explanation for why she was trying to help the little hikari. “There is something else I have to tell you about the ritual Yugi.”

“What is it?” He asked solemnly.

“There were theories on how the ritual could have ended. None of them were very pleasing,” she told sadly. “The teardrop diamonds qualities are the reasons for the theories. It could disrupt the memory flow of the person trying to bring them back.”

“I may not remember anything at all if it’s completed?” She nodded gravely. Yugi slumped in his chair. He didn’t know what to do about all of this.

“Take a night to decide Yugi, I don’t want to rush your decision.” She suggested rising from her chair. “There’s no reason to go on a pointless quest if you do not wish to take it up.”

Yugi nodded. “Do you guys have a place to stay?”

“Do not worry Yugi, Kaiba volunteered us residence.” She said softly. “I shall speak to you in the afternoon.”

“Have a good night Isis.” She bowed her head slightly and walked back out to the living room. Barely a minute passed and Yugi was soon joined by Joey and Tristan. Tea and Mai hung back in the doorway. He turned his head up and spared each of them a glance. “I don’t really know what I should do guys.”

Tristan gasped and shuffled around in his coat pocket. “I almost forgot about this,” he said laying the letter from Yami in front of him. “You forgot this. I figured you might want to read it.”

“Why don’t you read that tonight Yugi and give us a shout in the morning?” Mai said placing her hand on her hip. Yugi sighed heavily but nodded.

“Um, before you guys go…would you go with me if I asked?”

Joey’s eyebrow shot up. “Are ya like kiddin’ Yug?”

“Yeah Yugi, you know we’re with you 100%, no matter what.” Tristan frowned.

“Of course we’d help Yugi.” Mai added. Tea nodded in agreement.

Yugi smiled. He truly appreciated his friends a lot. “Well I’ll give all of you a call tomorrow then.” Each gave a nod before leaving quietly. Yugi looked over the letter insecurely. He was scared to read the letter. Picking it up he reopened it and unfolded the letter. He saddened at the first word.

Aibou,
I had often thought about what would happen if I had gained all of my memories. You were there with me every step of the way and I truly appreciate it. I really thought it would have been good to go back and live the life I once had, I don’t know anymore. I know it can’t happen anyway. I will truly miss you Yugi. I do now. There are many more things I wish I could have talked with you about…I wish I could have the chance. I really was a fool here now near the end, I should have realized things sooner.
I feel like I could have truly lived there with you, and had a new life. I really wanted that but I didn’t have anything that would have sustained me. Atem’s spirit, my spirit needed to rest and things were getting more painful. As my memories came back there were things I couldn’t get my mind over. I could remember Seth, and Seto reminded me of him. But, my past was over, and I needed to let go of it. I’m very sorry Yugi that I could never have told you in person, to you, that I cared for you a lot. Other factors just get in the way, like 3000 year old spirits harboring long dead feelings.
Sounds like I’m just making excuses, I’m sorry Yugi. But you should go on with your life, I know you can do it. You’re a great person and you have admirable friends that love you and care for you. Please believe me when I say that if I had stayed, I would have loved you. I did notice Yugi. How much you cared, I just didn’t want you to be hurt when I walked through the gate. I didn’t want you to have felt that hurt, that I had fallen in love with you and left you for naught. I couldn’t have bared the thought of causing you that kind of grief. I never would have been able to rest if I had let that happen. Hopefully I will be able to, so that I may watch over you. I love you Yugi.
Yami

Yugi set the letter down shakily. Yami had noticed? Numb to the tears cascading down his cheeks Yugi read the letter again and again. Why didn’t Yami tell him anyway? Yugi could have lived with the thought of knowing Yami loved him back! Crumbling to the floor a mess of tears and sobs Yugi held the letter to his chest tightly. “Yami…” He croaked weakly.

“Yugi! Yugi my boy what’s the matter?” He grandfather asked worriedly coming to his side. “Come now, get up off the floor.” Helping his grandson to his feet Sugoroku looked over him and sighed. “Go wash your face and come back and tell me.” Yugi nodded weakly and went to the bathroom.

Looking the mirror Yugi was reminded of Yami’s similar features. But a smile broke out on his lips and felt warm feeling well up inside of him. “I’m going to do this task Yami. I’m going to get you back so I can tell you myself how I really feel.” Splashing his face with water Yugi brushed away the water and nodded to his reflection. “No matter what it takes, I’ll get you back.”

Hides in the corner...love or hate it? R&R tell me about it. Reviews are skittles! Oh my and so very encouraging.
I am foreseeing the next chapter being a little dark, yet romantic, yet...I can't think of another descriptive thing but our lovely Seth will return...BAHAHA! O.o Until next Sunday.
