Endless Dream
By Yami Kitsune
Chapter five
Un-beta read version
Yugi felt as if he were drifting in and out of the darkness that surrounded him. He couldn’t quite remember where he was, or what he’d been doing at that point in time. What he did know was someone was calling him, but he really didn’t feel like waking up. Waking up always meant pain, life would be so much easier if he could just sleep through it all. Perhaps that’s what he should do; just sleep, no one to bother him then, and he wouldn’t be around to cause trouble for anyone else. Like his grandfather, and he wouldn’t have to worry about finding a way of telling Yami and the others where Keith was keeping Malik.
“…malik…?” Yugi asked; frowning the events of the night slowly coming back to him. His father had shown up, Yugi had been too shocked at seeing his father he hadn’t been able to react when the man gave him an order. That would explain why his head was starting to hurt as he gained consciousness. But who was calling him?
“Come on Yugi! Wake up!” The voice snapped sounding extremely pissed off. Dreading the thought of who he’d find when he opened his eyes, Yugi forced himself awake. The figure in front of him was blurry and coming into focus very slowly. Blinking a few times hoping that would help clear his vision.
“Yugi. I thought you’d never wake up. What the hell happened here? Where’s Malik?”
“…malik?” Yugi asked again sitting up a bit rubbing his eyes. That helped clear up his vision enough to realize it was Keith talking to him. Yugi slowly looked around the room and noticed how trashed it was.
“Yes Malik! Where the hell is he!?” Keith yelled at him. Yugi winced, more because of the pain that seemed to explode in his head every time Keith raised his voice.
“…he’s not…here?” Yugi asked closing his eyes bracing himself for another explosion from Keith.
“If he was here then why would I be asking you where he was?” Keith was getting more irritated by the second, but there wasn’t much Yugi could do about that. His head felt like someone had taken a chainsaw and cut it in two. Though upon thinking about that Yugi decided that it would have been more of a relief if someone had split his head in two.
Yugi closed his eyes not really wanting to think about anything right now. All he really wanted to do was lay back down and go back to sleep. In fact, he felt his body doing just that when he felt Keith grab the front of his shirt pulling him back up. There was a sharp pain on his cheek and it took a moment to realize that Keith had slapped him.
“…father was here…” Yugi said his eyes still closed. //just let me sleep…// Yugi thought wishing for the darkness to take him again, and this time, never let him go. Keith grumbled something shoving Yugi to the floor.
“That bastard must have taken him. You’re worthless Yugi. I told you to watch him.” Yugi heard the sound of the door slamming. He was alone again. But Keith’s voice was still ringing through his head. His father had Malik, why would his father take Malik?
An image of his father leaning over him smirking flashed through Yugi’s head followed by a series of images of Malik trying to tackle the stronger man, despite being electrocuted by the collar. Malik yelling at Yugi to run, but that had proved to be another stupid idea on Yugi’s part.
Shifting so he could once again sit up Yugi forced his eyes open again. The pain in his body more real this time. And how he wished for that sweet darkness more then ever. But there was one thing that made Yugi get up and drag himself to the door. Malik was gone, and even though Keith was dangerous, Malik was in far more danger now. Promise or not, whether he had to go back and live with his father after this. Yugi was determined to tell Yami everything he knew. //They can hate me…but…they can save Malik…he will be safe…// Was Yugi’s thought as he left the motel.

Marik was pacing back and forth in Yami’s living room. Bakura had just gotten back from following Keith. None of them had wanted to take much of a chance if Keith did have Malik they couldn’t risk not following him. They had spent all day following him, and then most of the night. It had been close to midnight when Bakura decided it was pointless to watch his house all night and was getting ready to leave when Keith had come out and gotten in his car before taking off. Bakura hadn’t even been able to start up his bike before Keith had taken the corner and vanished.
And it was this news that Bakura had brought back to the others. Marik had been pissed, but they were more sure now then they had been that after noon. Keith had Malik. Now the only question was, where?
“We’ll have to follow him again tomorrow. And keep a closer eye on him.” Yami said watching his friend pace the living room. It was all they could do right now, and even though Marik knew it, it didn’t stop him from wanting to go out there tonight to try and find Keith, and tear him apart.
Bakura glanced down at the white head that was resting in his lap. Ryou had snuggled up to Bakura as soon as the older boy had sat down. It was times like this that Ryou really loved having long hair. He could easily pretend to be asleep, and no one could see him crying. But Bakura always knew better. He felt the boy shake as he stroked his hair trying to offer comfort where he could.
“Why don’t you guys sleep here tonight?” Yami suggested. “I’ll drag out the air mattress, and we’ll do out best to find Malik tomorrow.” Yami said. Marik stopped pacing so he could look at Yami.
“Alright…I’ll go get the blankets from upstairs.” Marik said disappearing. Yami gave him a sad smile, Marik was so stressed out with worry, then again, they all were. Malik was a good friend to all of them. Ryou’s best friend; and Marik’s boy friend. It would be the same thing if anyone of them just vanished with no explanation. Yami sighed looking at Bakura before heading to the front hallway closet so he could pull out the air mattress and extra pillows he kept there. Not the most logical place to keep something like that, but it made it easier then dragging his ass all the way up stairs to grab it.
Yami was just cursing the shelf for being too high for him to reach when there the doorbell rang. Yami helped almost loosing his balance off the small stepping stool. It was late, after mid night. Who would be coming by this time of night? Yami’s first thought was that perhaps it was the police, they had found Malik and were contacting family and friends. But if that was the case they would be at Isis’ house, or Marik’s. Not at Yami’s.
Stepping down from the stool Yami headed over to the door quickly and opened it ready to snap at whoever it was for coming by so late but stopped when he didn’t see anyone there. Slowly looking down Yami gasped in shock at what he saw.
Yugi had collapsed on the doorstep, he was shaking from head to toe, his hair was a mess and it looked as if parts of it were stuck together with dried blood. It was probably a good thing Yugi hadn’t seen himself before leaving the motel. If he had he might have thought twice about going out to find Yami.
“Yami! Where are all your-HOLY RA!” Marik yelped as he came into the hallway and spotted Yugi in the doorway. The boy was just sitting up looking as if it was taking all his strength to do so.
“…help…malik…” was all Yugi was able to get out before his eyes rolled into the back of his head. Yami dove forward quickly catching the smaller boy before he could hit the floor and injure himself further. Yami picked him up as gently as he could, kicking the door shut before hurrying to the bathroom Marik on his heals.
“He said Malik! He knows where Malik is!” Marik was saying. Yami shot a glare at him over his shoulder.
“I KNOW what he said Marik! But does it look like he’s in any condition to give us answers?” Yami snapped. “Go upstairs and get whatever first aid stuff you can find. Get Bakura to help you. And tell Ryou to come in here and help me.” Yami ordered kneeling down on the floor he leaned Yugi back against the bath leaning over he started the water then set to the task of getting Yugi’s cloths off being as careful as he could. Yugi’s cheek was swollen, and he was sporting a black eye. But due to the long sleeve shirt Yami wasn’t able to tell what other damage might have been done to the boy, and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt him further.
Yami was just removing Yugi’s under shirt when Ryou came into the bathroom. The silver haired boy froze in the doorway starring at Yugi with wide eyes.
“…what…”
“Come on Ryou. You’ve seen this stuff before last time Bakura and Marik got into a fight.” Yami said. Ryou nodded kneeling on Yugi’s other side, but he looked at Yugi with sympathy in his eyes.
“…Do…Do you think Keith…”
“No…I don’t. Keith is a heartless bastard, but I don’t think he’d do something like this.” Yami said tossing Yugi’s shirts aside. When he looked back at the boy to look for any other injuries he was even more shocked, and felt almost sick to his stomach by what he saw. Aside from a rather large purple bruise on his stomach where someone had obviously hit him hard. There were scars covering the boy’s torso. And very few of them were recent. There was a rather long scar trailing from Yugi’s neck down his chest and stomach. Yami lightly ran his finger over it.
“This was made by a knife…the scar is years old too.”
“How do you know that?” Ryou asked.
“Because the skin isn’t pink.” Bakura answered from the door. “If it were a fresh scar, even if it were just a year old, the skin would be pinker then the rest. My guess is he got that scar when he was really young.” Bakura said as he handed Yami the box of first aid he’d found.
“Let’s get finish undressing him and get him into the bath.” Yami said. Being extra careful of Yugi’s ankle the finished undressing him. They found more scars and a few more wounds caused by that nights beating.
The others moved out of the way as Yami carefully lifted Yugi back up and started to lower him into the water. When Yugi felt the water against his skin it was like an instant wake up call. Yugi’s eyes snapped open and he immediately began struggling.
“NOOOOOOOOO!!!” Yugi screamed thrashing out at Yami, who, not wanting to be decked accidentally dropped Yugi into the tub. Yugi let out another terrified scream still thrashing around in the water. He managed to get his feet under him to push himself out of the water, remembering to late that his ankle was swollen and in enough pain as it was without the weight of his body being put in it.
Bakura was the one who moved forward this time and caught Yugi pulling him out of the water enough so he’d stop thrashing and not hurt himself more by trying to get out.
“Yugi! Yugi calm down! No one’s ganna hurt you here!” Bakura snapped. “We’re trying to help you!” Yugi slowly calmed down but Bakura could still feel how tense he was.
“Yugi.” Yami said moving forward to take Yugi from Bakura. “We’re just going to get you washed up okay? No one will hurt you here. I promise.” Yugi stared at Yami, the taller boy had never seen anyone look at him with so much fear in their eyes.
After a few more calming words Yami was able to get Yugi back into the bath and get him washed up while the others went to wait in the living room.
“What do you think happened to him Bakura?” Ryou asked as he sat down on Bakura’s lap once the older boy had taken his seat in the big comfy chair.
“He had the shit beat out of him.” Bakura answered simply.
“I gathered that much…I mean…his scars…” Ryou said softly wondering if he should even be talking about this. It made sense now why Yugi insisted on warring long sleeves, even though the weather was still fairly hot.
“I wouldn’t even dare to guess. It’s something that Yugi should tell us, if he wants to.” Bakura ran his fingers through his hair and Ryou rested his head on Bakura’s shoulder not saying another word about it.
“…I hope he’ll be okay…” Ryou said softly closing his eyes. It was going to be a long day.

Malik groaned trying to roll over on his bed and stretch out a bit. His whole body felt cramped. Malik growled softly when he realized he couldn’t move. Malik’s eyes snapped open when he realized the reason he couldn’t move was the fact he was bound tightly by rope. Letting out muffled scream as he pulled at his bonds he discovered he was also gagged.
“I see you’re awake.” A voice said out of the darkness. Malik froze, straining his eyes trying to see if someone else was in the room.
“Don’t bother struggling; I’m an expert when it comes to knots. You’ll never get out of there, not without help anyway.” The voice said before the room was flooded with light. Malik winced at the sudden brightness and closed his eyes tightly. Opening them slowly so he could adjust to the light he found that he was in what looked like a really old basement. There seemed to be sheets of metal blocking where the windows used to be.
Malik looked to see what he was tied to and sighed when he discovered it was another bed. But he was definitely not in the motel any more.
“That idiot son of mine doesn’t know how to take care of things properly.” Malik looked over and saw Yugi’s father standing in the doorway. “Only a select few know about this special room here.” He said walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed. Malik glared at him.
“You’re getting a special privilege; this room is going to be your home for a very long time. My boy Yugi used to live here as well.” The man sighed closing his eyes.
“He really was a worthless child. Well…maybe not completely worthless, he did make me a fairly good amount of money. But he was so weak; I couldn’t sell him off often. Once a month at least.” He opened his eyes and looked back at Malik, reaching out he brushed some blond hair out of Malik’s face.
“Blond hair, tanned skin, slender hips. It’ll make things hurt more I’m sure, but makes you far more…attractive.” As he spoke he trailed his fingers lightly over Malik’s cheek, neck, down his chest. Malik was trembling as he felt the hand moving lower. He stared at this man with wide eyes. He said Yugi had lived here, after watching the man beat Yugi back at the hotel Malik had no doubt in his mind that what the man said was true. Malik felt sick, how could someone do that to their own son? How could any parent do that?
“Hmm…It shouldn’t be long before people start putting in bids for you. Once you earn a good reputation the money will start rolling in. But first I think we should break you in.” Malik didn’t even have time to register what that might mean when the full weight of the man was on top of him. Malik screamed into the gag arching his back in an attempt to throw the man off him.
//MARIK!!!// His mind screamed for his lover hoping that some how he’d be heard. Malik fought as much as he could, pulling at the ropes that bound him to the bed, screaming into the gag until his throat hurt. But no matter what he did, it didn’t stop what he knew was coming.
The pain was like nothing Malik had ever felt in his life. And it wasn’t just physical pain either, he felt as if someone was taking a knife and stabbing it as deep into his soul as they possibly could before pulling it out and doing it again, and again, and again until Malik felt so numb he couldn’t even move any more. He lay there staring at the ceiling with unseeing eyes. He had retreated into his own mind in a last attempt to escape the pain.

I know, I know. I’m evil. So what else is new? ^-^ I can’t help it. I love writing cliff hangers! But always keep this in mind~ ^-^ You’ll always get a happy ending (when I manage to finish the fanfics that is.)
