CHAPTER FIVE~

"Alright well, it's late, and I think I'm tired..." Marik trailed off suggestively, grinning at Bakura, who remained oblivious, still talking to Malik.

Marik pouted and Malik laughed, "Marik, calm yourself. And please, I'm begging you, if you guys DO decide to do 'things', keep it down. And another thing, change the sheets in the morning."

Marik and Bakura both stared at Malik a moment, before laughing loudly. Malik smiled innocently, "What?"

"N-nothing," Marik laughed, "That just sounded SO wrong."

"Well thanks," Malik grinned, "Just thought I should set down sound ground rules, y'know. You guys go on, I'll clean up the mess."

No sooner did the words leave his mouth, Marik and Bakura were already down the hallway. Malik snickered, shaking his head, before getting up and picking up the dishes, carrying them into the kitchen, rinsing them off in the sink before putting them into the dishwasher.

Malik sensed Ryou and turned around, smiling as he spotted him, "Hey Tenshi- I mean Ryou," Malik blushed a little catching himself.

"...It's okay," Ryou said softly, and Malik smiled, happy that Ryou was finally talking to him a little more. Maybe he could find out a little more about him now.

"England?" Malik smiled, grinning a little as Ryou looked confused, "Your accent... it sounds English," Malik explained, "It's cute."

It was Ryou's turn to blush, nodding quietly, "My Mom.. was British, my Dad was American," Ryou said quietly, still a little unsure of himself.

Malik nodded, sitting down at the kitchen table, "Was? Are they...?"

"I... don't know," Ryou said softly, sitting down as well, his voice light, "When everything was happening... I don't remember seeing them inside, so I'd always thought they'd made it out okay; I'm not sure though."

"That's terrible," Malik said softly, looking at Ryou in concern, "Not knowing if your family is alright or not," he shook his head, "But hey, you've got me," Malik smiled, "I'm here for you Tenshi."

Ryou smiled slighly at the nickname; he secretly liked it; it made him feel special in a way. "I appreciate it," Ryou smiled a little, happy to have a friend after five months alone.

"You're always welcome," Malik smiled, "And just for the record, Marik and Bakura are in their room, doing 'things'," Malik laughed, "So I'd avoid that room at all costs."

Ryou giggled slightly, and Malik smiled; he thought Ryou's laugh was just too cute. "Thanks for the warning," Ryou said softly.

"You know, it's nice to be able to converse with you," Malik smiled, looking to Ryou, "It's nice to actually have a friend."

"You have them," Ryou pointed out, motioning with his hand, down the hallway to Marik & Bakura's room.

"Oh, I know, but they're my only friends. It's nice to have another," Malik explained, and Ryou nodded, smiling slightly.

"So, they're having their fun, and I'm not tired yet. Do you want to watch a movie?" Malik asked, looking to Ryou, who nodded, "Sure."

Malik smiled and got up, heading into the living room, Ryou following, before sitting on the sofa. Malik sat down beside him, picking up the remote and switching the TV on, "Any preference?" he asked, looking to Ryou.

"Mmm... doesn't matter..." Ryou said quietly, "I always liked Action or Comedy movies."

"Me too," Malik smiled, going to the 'On Demand' menu, browsing through all the movies they had available, before settling on one they both agreed on, both of them watching it contently, enjoying each other's company.

Malik sighed and rolled over in bed the next day, curling up closer into his blankets. He felt Ryou's presence close by, smiling slightly in his half awake state.

"Morning, Tenshi," Malik said softly, trying to wake up. It was already after ten AM.

"Morning," Ryou's soft voice replied, though he wasn't anywhere to be seen, "Sleep well?"

"Mmmhmm," Malik sighed, laying on his back, trying to wake up, "Are Marik and Bakura awake?"

"They left early; they left you a note about going to breakfast," Ryou said quietly, watching Malik.

"Alright," Malik replied, sitting up finally, "I hate mornings," he sighed, rubbing his eyes, before pushing himself up and heading into the bathroom. After getting dressed, he headed into the kitching, smelling something cooking, or having been cooked. He looked into the dining room, where there was various kinds of breakfast foods cooked. "Ryou... did you do this?" Malik asked, shocked.

"Yes.." Ryou said softly, unsure if Malik was mad or not.

"Oh wow... you didn't have to," Malik smiled, "But... thank you... I had no idea you could cook."

"My Mom taught me how... when I was little," Ryou replied, showing himself now, relieved that Malik wasn't mad.

"It looks amazing," Malik smiled, suddenly wishing he could hug Ryou to thank him, upset that he couldn't. He pushed those thoughts away, unsure where they had come from in the first place.

Ryou watched Malik quietly, "That's it, you're the new resident chef," Malik smiled, trying a bite, "This is amazing, Ryou."

Ryou smiled, happy that he could make Malik happy, "Thanks," he blushed, looking away a moment.

*~*~*~*

"This is my sister, Ishizu, and my brother Odion," Malik told Ryou. The two of them were sitting on Malik's bed, looking through a photo album Malik had brought with him; filled with pictures of himself and his family, and also Marik and Bakura. Ryou guessed Malik wasn't lying when he said Marik and Bakura were his only friends.

"Wow, you three look alike," Ryou smiled, "Like, really alike."

"We always hear that," Malik laughed, "None of us see it though. And this is my Mom and Dad, and our family dog, Anaksu."

"He's cute," Ryou smiled, "Anaksu, I mean," he blushed.

Malik laughed, "I know; I'd be disturbed if you were referring to my Dad!"

Ryou giggled, shaking his head, "Nope. Your dog is cute. I had one ages ago; it was a little beagle."

"Beagles are cute," Malik smiled, "But I'd always wanted a bigger dog; especially when I was a kid. I always thought he'd be able to keep burgurlars out; but Anaksu ended up being too friendly. He'd probably end up licking them instead."

Ryou giggled again, nodding, "Who's this?" he asked, pointing to a photo of Malik, Ishizu and another girl.

"That's Amisi; she's Ishizu's best friend. They kept trying to hook me up with her, and apparently she likes me," Malik rolled his eyes. Ryou bit his bottom lip, feeling a pang of... jealously?

"They know I'm not into girls, I'm a fully gay man," Malik grinned, "They just liked to tease."

"You're gay too?" Ryou asked, smiling slightly.

"By 'too', I take it you are?" Malik asked, smiling as Ryou nodded. "That's awesome. Finally someone who won't think I'm weird."

"Not at all," Ryou shook his head, "I don't think you're weird."

"Thanks," Malik smiled, going back to the photographs with Ryou.
